I took the SOL today for writing; it was the essay part. They gave us dictionaries, to "check our spelling". Am I the only one who believes this defeats the already outdated and weak purpose of the SOL? How is the essay going to be in any way indicative of my talents as a writer and my knowledge of vocabulary if I have the whole language at my fingertips?

Also, I went on Cleverbot for the first time today, and it accused me of being a Clever Bot. It said I was robotic, in college, and my sentences were too complicated. It also tried to convince me that I made a typo, and I shot it down. The thing must've apologized to me at least 10 times in 20 minutes. I felt happy afterwards.

Lastly, Michael Sheen is in New Moon? This hurts me deeply.

That is all.

So, one random typo in the search bar and I've been re watching Yugioh abridged for the first time in months. I haven't laughed so much at one time. Yet, at the same time I've been filled with a real sense nostalgia for this ridiculous show I watched when I was 10 years old.

Then I randomly started searching actual episodes, subbed because the 4kids version would probably make my ears explode. and I realized that I remembered a lot of the episodes from years back, and that the English version really is crappier than the original! No wai. In addition, in the original Kaiba isn't actually a total asshole. then I felt mildly justified for his having been my favorite character all those years. Oh, childhood.

Don't judge me!

Though, I can't say I'm not looking forward to it. Before practice officially started, the we and the rest of the team were discussing the olympics ( I MISS THE OLYMPICS.BAAWWWWW) and the topic came up about how China beat us in the gold medal count. At which i said, "Gold medals are overrated unless you're Michael Phelps." Little did i know that there were Michael Phelps face lovers in the audience. So, later when the coaches were handing out recent news articles we had to be up to date on, and mentioned that one of them was about Michael Phelps' swimsuit, I somewhat jokingly somewhat seriously rejoiced with previously mentioned girl teammate. ( i'll admit it.
Sorry for the delay, person i promised a dark knight review. i was on vacation. more at 11.
Now, where was I?

So, The Dark Knight. what a film. I'm like, two weeks late on this review, but that's not gonna stop me. oh, yeah, SPOILERS!!!!?

Story wise, the best superhero film ever. hell, it's one of the best films in YEARS, period. It was complex, but not to the extent that you got completely lost. It takes a certain amount of intelligence to fully enjoy the film though.

Christian Bale did a great job portraying the tortured soul of Bruce Wayne, having to hide who he really is under a mask of shallowness, while his real self is a person no one can ever know. except Rachel, of course, but that doesn't help at all. As for Aaron Eckhart, wow. Everyone was so caught up in the batman-joker story that they didn't stop to see what an amazing character Harvey Dent was. The last hope for Gotham that was legal. Truly a tragic story, told wonderfully by Eckhart.

Now for Maggie funny last name. She played Rachel Dawes, a seemingly unimportant love interest to Bruce and Harvey (hey! love triangle), but she was in reality a major part of the story, without which many important events couldn't have happened i.e. Dent turning into two face. In Batman Begins, Rachel was played by Katie Holmes. Now, i'm not saying Katie did a bad job, but she just had too sweet a face and voice for me to see her as a lawyer powerbitch. Maggie, not so much. Totally a lawyer powerbitch.

Everyone keeps leaving out Gary Oldman! not me! I like Oldman. He's a cute old guy, and he did a very good lt. Gordon.

Now for the one everyone is waiting for. Heath Ledger as the Joker.

HOLY F!!! How does anyone act like a psychopathic murderer so well?! Incredible acting by Ledger, truly amazing. I honestly had to remind myself that there was an actor on screen when he was there. After i saw the movie, I kept seeing the joker's face everywhere, in building formations, open car trunks, etc. It was crazy. Everything about Ledger's Joker, from his acting to his theme song, is deeply unsettling, not just because he's scary, but because he's right. Deep down, when faced with life and death, everyone is a monster.

Also, i haven't seen anyone rave about the soundtrack. You meanies. Zimmer and Howard = sheer musical genius. The film needed a soundtrack like the one it got -- dark, emotional, and intense. I never got so many emotions out of wordless music before. Really worth a listen.

In conclusion, the Dark Knight is so much more than a superhero film. It's deep on so many levels, and at the end, though you're left with an empty feeling, you're also left with a tangle of thought and emotions to sort through and learn from. By the way, was i the only one who caught the irony in the fire truck on fire? really theater goers. take an english class. anyway, i'm gonna go in ebert in roeper style, and say, SEE IT!
