So, if anyone was reading along with my Halloween story, you can find the entire thing starting here. Posting it on DA reminded me of exactly why I stopped posting writing here, aside from not liking to post my writing publicly. I'm not fond of posting things in places where you can see how many people have viewed a piece because every time I go to edit links, I can see how many people have viewed it as compared to how many have commented. Few things annoy me more than knowing that people are viewing things but no one can be arsed to say anything. It's one thing when something has a bunch of comments already and you've nothing new to add but honestly.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just grumpy. But whatever. I'm tired and Halloween's mostly been a wash this year. Hope yours was better than mine.

Every few months I feel like I should drop in and note the fact that I'm still alive and kicking (and occasionally screaming). For anyone wondering, the fact is that, aside from getting anything I draw scanned in being a hassle, I just hadn't been doing much artwise until very recently.

Currently my sketchbook contents include:
- one piece finished (HPAP illust)
- one half-coloured (original novel illust)
- two inked (HPAP and steampunk Archie)
- some penciled junk (fan service and more)

What all of that will actually get posted is pretty up in the air but, rest assured, the Archie piece will definitely be up once it's done. I'm quite happy with how it looks so far, especially considering how long it'd been since I'd drawn him. Woosh. Need to give that boy more love. But, for those interested in the well-being of young Archibald, he may or may not be getting a permanent home soon in one of my many fiction projects so we'll see. He's currently in the running for a part in two different pieces and is looking very likely for the one. More on that as time wears on.

For now, I'll simply say goodnight.

Goodnight!

Not that I've had time to draw or access to a scanner for anything worth posting in recent months but I would like to take this moment to note the fact that, if I can gather them together, I do have a stash of doodles I've done which may make their way into my scraps. Aside from that, I would also like to note that I am in a great deal of pain and, even if I do update my scraps, nothing more recent than a week or two ago should be expected. Because at the moment, I am physically incapable of drawing. I took a rather nasty bite to my dominant hand while breaking up a fight between two of my family's dogs, specifically my dog and my sister's.

My sister's Boston, Sparky, has recently taken to attacking my Corgi, Cory, on a fairly regular basis. Last Sunday was the first serious injury, with Cory's leg twisted and paw bleeding and Sparky's lower eyelid in need of stitching. Last night, Sparky went after Cory again, even with our best efforts to keep them separated, and I ended up being the one to take the worst of it. They are now being kept locked on opposite ends of the house unless one or the other is crated and I have my ring and little fingers bandaged and taped together for support. It's making life rather interesting, not to mention difficult. I mean, you should see me typing. It's amazing how quickly I'm managing, given the fact that I'm missing the cap to my A key and two of my fingers are currently taped into one. Now imagine me trying to make sure that my hand survives a horde of little children because my bosses have taken me away from my usual kids for the week and have stuck me with a bunch of rowdy kinders through fourth graders. I want my fifth and sixthers back so much, you have no idea. At least you can reason with the older kids. Kinders just don't understand, "I can't play silent speedball. I've injured my hand."

Which makes sense, I suppose, as I haven't had the time to do much more than doodle since my last appearance and most of said doodles have been for the kids that I work with. That and I currently have no scanner, so even my doodles I bring home can't be posted, and my tablet is busted, so there can't be any digital art, either.

For me it's good memories, bad memories and apparently the perfect time to poke at my journal. Honestly, I should be preparing for NaNoWriMo or class registration, doing some schoolwork, maybe napping. I really would like to know when my favourite time of year suddenly got to be so amazingly boring and average. Well, okay. Aside from the NaNo part. That isn't particularly average outside of my own little circle of friends, I suppose.

But really. No gatherings this year. No candy. No kiddies in costumes. Just me, The Giver, Parzival, Alice, a few zombies and the internet. Not all at once, of course. Although zombie Parzival could be interesting.

Anyway. I suppose that's all for that. I shall away. Tralala.

As I said on my Livejournal:
So next weekend had hopes of being everything I've been needing for months now. Seeing Maja and getting at least a couple of hours with the family in which everyone just shut up and got along while we celebrated my birthday. Turns out next weekend may end up being yet another unsalvagable disaster. Unless Maja's parents can be convinced to let her visit for the weekend, those precious hours of relative familial calm have been relegated to that lovely scrap-heap of Plans That Changed. My annually sorry excuse for a birthday party gets cancelled and we combine my celebration with a Christmas party I'm not terribly fond of attending. I could save it, of course, if I wanted to be a thankless little brat and demand that my parents skip the other party they've been invited to whether I have company or not, skip it just for me. But I won't. That would be stupid. I'm just really tired of everything I'm looking forward to falling apart right before I reach it.

So yes. Things aren't great. In fact, life is rather less than stellar. My only real plus is that I have the best friends in the world and I had no finals on my actual birthday.

That said, I should go study for tomorrow.

My SA gallery will hold any completed original work I am particularly proud of as well as the gift art and select pieces of fanart.
I am currently in the process of acquiring a website. The site will include a section for my writing, a section for my general art and a section for the BHEP. Black-Hole Eye work will no longer be posted here. When the website is up and running, I will make a note of it for anyone interested.

Yay for panic disorders. ...or not. Breaking down all over mum in the middle of the grocery store doesn't do any good, really. I spent the entire trip trying to hide the fact that I was crying in public while little children asked me if I was okay and mum tried to be a good parent and calm me down without getting frustrated. Good times.

I hid behind my hair all day. Kind of looked like they'd just dragged the hermit out shopping, which I suppose is exactly what they did. Bought lots of flannel (Dyke? Me? Never.), special edition of the second RE movie and a book of traditional Irish recipes.

G'damn! You should see my pile of cookbooks now! I've got another $25 gift card for Barnes & Noble and I'm thinking I may just sink it into the cooking section. I'm going slightly crazy, I guess. Honestly, I just wish I had a real kitchen to use instead of that sad excuse for one the school apartments provide. Maybe I really should have gone into culinary arts instead of English.

Anyway. I'm baking cheesecakes tomorrow for my parents' New Years party. I'm making a chocolate marble with raspberry sauce and a butterscotch marble with caramel sauce. We'll see how they turn out. My last attempt at a personal cookie recipe was...sort of a success. Did you know that vanilla cookie dough can make candy cane chunks melt into a gooey peppermint syrup? It's kind of cool, if a bit disgusting. The cookies were good, though.

Actually, I don't think I've ever recieved a complaint when I've cooked. Probably the only thing in my life no one's ever complained about.

I want to open a restaurant some day.

Eh. Yeah. Crazy.

In other news, I'm still on vacation. Got another couple of weeks. I feel like shit, hence the breaking down thing, not to mention lonely as all hell. Been drawing some, but...well...I'm not happy with much of anything I do lately. Did get some grayscale Prisma markers for birthday and Christmas, though, so those'll come in handy whenever I finally get around to liking something enough to complete it.

Don't be surprised if you see gift art whenever I start uploading again. Sometimes that gets me out of my funks. Like making someone else smile lets me pretend for a moment that I can smile, too.

Also. I need to renew my subscription. Argh.

I'm gone until January 16th. I should update a couple of times while I'm gone. I'll be posting between Thursday and Saturday for *razerz Artidemic 2, possibly posting something for ~bluetigerblack's contest by Friday if I can get it done and something for ~ Kahvie's contest as soon as I finish it.
Also. Anyone going to AC05 or anyone simply interested in a badge trade or badge commission, I'll be taking them. I'll even take commissions for non-anthro badges, but I won't be doing any non-anthro trades for the time being. Just note me if you have any interest whatsoever and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Trades are nice and fun because I just love doing them. Commissions are good because they improve my chances of actually making it to the con.

Commission prices run as follows:
B&W line and hatch shading - $5
B&W pencil shading - $10
Digital color - $10
Hand color - $15

All badges will be laminated.

Certain people may be recieving gift badges unless they contact me about a trade. This is assuming that I have the time, of course, but I don't think time should be too much of a problem.

---
I cleaned all day and then we went out and got a birthday cake for the both of us, since her birthday was the 11th and mine is the 13th (today for me). Technically it was a holiday cake, as it said "Happy Holidays" and was all red and green and whatnot, but she bought a small tube of orange icing and wrote "Happy B-Day H & S (and not K)." (Her boyfriend's name is Kevin and he was there during the whole cake thing. He had to go to work, though, so we just dorked out together.)

So then we ate our cake while watching Prisoner of Askaban and making our own little commentary reel. I wish I could've recorded some of the things we said. It was great. I almost never get to sit down during a movie and just say whatever pops into my head. I like MSTing and tonight gave me the chance to do it without worrying about how my comments sounded because she and I think a lot alike. We have so much in common.

I don't know whether Sarah and I will really hang out all that much, but one night out and about and not feeling totally alone was better than nothing. I mean, no one ever visits me. None of my friends can afford it, really, so I'm usually just sitting around here all alone. I don't get along that well with my roommates, especially the one I actually share a bedroom with, and Sarah's one of maybe two person on campus who I can even begin to consider friends these days. I don't make friends easily, either, which just makes it that much worse.

But yeah. I had a good night. I didn't get home until 12:30am, and then I had to study for tomorrow's exam. Now I think I'll go to bed.

Aslo. If you'd like some music, I compressed some CDs and posted them to yousendit.com. You can find them here if you want to take a look.
- work on Holiday Gifts art (31 doodles)
- work on HP Secret Santa
- work on HP Art Exchange

I think that's it. Art Exchange is due 8 January, so my goal is to have the list completed by then. Shouldn't be too bad, since some of them have deadlines and whatnot.

Yeah yeah. It's one of those times of year in which you will be seeing a bit more Harry Potter art than usual. Seeing as I've joined up on the Holiday Gifts thing, which involves daily doodles from me, a lot of it will probably be in my scraps. So if you're interested in my HP stuff but aren't watching scraps, you might want to change that. Speaking of Holiday Gifts, I really need to stock up on that so I don't have to worry about the whole not being online thing through break.
Sorry. I'm just rambling now. Carry on!

---
Thank you, Tina.

Do you want my honest opinion? Well, here we go.

Every election brings the possibility of four more years of hell, whether your candidate wins or not. You can never trust a politician to do as they say they will do, no matter what the situation. It all comes down to charisma and craft. The real question isn't who can earn the most electoral votes, it's who can rig the vote best, be it on a physical or psychological level. In a world where even the politics of high school have gone beyond being a simple popularity contest and fallen into the realm of blatant cheating, what else can you expect of the people who are supposed to be teaching the children their lifelong values?

There is always going to be someone suffering discrimination. There will never be a day when a man can walk down the street with another man, hand-in-hand, and not run the risk of being cursed at, assaulted, or even killed. African-Americans still recieve this treatment and, if you are assuming that I am comparing gay rights to slave rights and are insulted by this, so do women.

So, no. I don't care who my President is. Trust me. I'm trying to care. I've been trying since some time last night. All that got me, however, was a level of rage that I did not, for any reason, want to deal with. I may have voted for Kerry but, either way, the national support of my rights as a lesbian and, in all honesty, prospective transgender is still shit. What difference does it make at this point?

I'm not going to be any more afraid to walk to class today than I have ever been before, no matter how many people may hate me for what I am. They're the same people who have hated me every other day. Nothing has changed. If I'm meant to be dragged into an alley and shot for kissing a girl, so be it. It's going to happen either way. Why should I bother worrying about what-ifs and fear-stained possibilities?

Fuck it. I'm too busy living to care.

---
The prologue is posted and the first chapter is in the works. It's supposed to be a horror novel, so if you have a livejournal and you're interested in reading it, go take a look at Patch of Angelism for more information.

Art - General art may be a bit limited this month, seeing as I have tons of homework and am trying to write a 50,000 word novel while I'm at it. I am, however, thinking ahead and have decided that I will most likely open up for conbadge trades as of December. I'll hopefully be getting a laminator for birthday or Christmas, so they'll be all professional and everything. If you're interested in a badge trade, feel free to say as much, but I won't actually start organizing everything until NaNo's done.

Which leads us to...

Conventions - Okay. It's only November and I'm already planning for cons this summer. I feel like a geek. First on the calender is ANTHROCON. I don't know if I'll actually be attending the convention or just trying to go up and visit Misha's family that weekend so I can at least stop by and meet people. A lot of my friends are going to be there, or are at least planning to be there, and I really don't want to miss out on that. Second on the calender is OTAKON, which I am going to no matter what. That's my annual, so I'm not dropping it for anything less than an emergency. Muah! Hopefully I'll have a table in Artist Alley, but I won't be heartbroken if I don't.

That said...back to NaNo.

ETA: Also. I am currently doing this thing where people can claim playing cards from my deck. If you're interested, you can get more information here.

---
The goal of NaNo is to write a 50,000-word novel in the span of a month, starting at midnight 1 November and ending at midnight 30 November. Why do I bring this up? Because.

Because I've signed up for the challenge.

I'll be writing a horror novel throughout November, attempting to reach that 50,000-word goal. So for thirty days you'll all have to put up with me, most likely a very stressed me, as I create an entire world of my own. Characters and scenarios may appear throughout my artwork for that span of time of which you have no knowledge whatsoever. Don't be surprised. It's natural.

For information on my novel, you can visit Patch of Angelism. You will not be able to read it unless you have a Live Journal and I friend you there, but the character list and plot summary (once available) will be open for all to read.

If you are interested in NaNoWriMo, you can find more information here and, if you aren't from the USA, don't worry. People are doing it everywhere.

So, what do you think?

50,000 words in thirty days.

Challenge yourself.

Join the madness.

---
Oh don't look at me like that! It's not REAL! If it were real, I would be more like "OMFGHELPMETHEREISBLOODONMYWINDOW!!! FUCKFUCKFUCK!!!1!11 O_O ;_; *whimpercry*"

No. My parents bought me this 3D window-cling blood while they were looking at Halloween decorations and stuff at Michael's. They gave it to me a while back and I just hadn't put it up yet. So I moved my dragons and pentacle around and now there is amusingly fake blood up there that doesn't even cover the entire top of the window and is therefore rather reminscent of a bad B movie.
In other news... I'm working on two different writing projects for myself at the moment - Pirates of Ocean Free and Unhallowed Creatures. PoOF (it amuses me because it says "poof") you've all heard of if you've been watching me for very long, but I'll summarize.

Pirates of Ocean Free - This is a series of pirate stories following different ships and characters in my world of Ocean Free. I plan to start work on The Flesh Mason, as that's the one that my brain is focused on now.

Unhallowed Creatures - This is an apocalyptic story told in mutliple parts involving experimentation gone wrong. It's sort of a zombie story. I don't plan to upload it here, but if you're a friend of mine on LJ then you'll most likely get to read it as I go.

Jane-Lane There's something wrong with hexing the little demons that are posing as first years?
Lyotto Well, the professors would say so, and it's a Prefect's duty to protect the hell spawn.
Jane-Lane But, they're hell spawn.
Lyotto But they're posing as not-so-innocent children.
Jane-Lane ...find some holy water to throw on them?
Jane-Lane They'll show their true forms! Wings and all!
LyottoHmm...well...dumping water over their heads wouldn't be quite so bad as hexing them.
Jane-Lane ...Of course, then they'd be too interesting to hex then.
Lyotto We could trap them for study in our DADA classes instead.
Jane-Lane YES!
Jane-Lane I vote for that plan!
Jane-Lane Of course, the second years will poke at them with sticks, but, what can you do?
Lyotto So long as they poke at them with rather long sticks, as I'm sure the demons will be a bit cranky after holy spritzing.

Ahahaha! I'm too easily amused. X3

---
There is something seriously fucking WRONG with me again. I don't know what's causing it, but...shit.

I'm having black out session again. I haven't had that problem in years, and last time it was due to medications going bad with my anxiety disorder. This time... I don't know.

Apparently I'm doing things that I don't remember doing. I'm responding to people and events from a gut instinct without any logic or reasoning coming into play and not knowing about it until it's too late. Like last night... Last night I apparently left a comment on Zer's DA journal that I would NOT have left if I had been conscious enough to process the situation.

You know how, when people are in some big fight that you don't know anything about and you know one person as well as you do any of them, your gut generally tells you to defend the first person who makes you aware of it? A few seconds after that initial reaction, your reasoning generally kicks in and you realize that there's no point in getting involved, because it has nothing to do with you and it will all blow itself out. No problem for you. You sit back, keep your opinions to yourself, and let them sort it. If you don't supress that gut reaction, you know you'll end up as one of the idiots who gets yelled at, and rightly so, by the other people involved.

Well, to be perfectly honest, I don't remember READING Zer's journal last night, let alone RESPONDING to it, and I only discovered that I had by reading Chiv's journal this morning, in which she thoroughly ground her bootheel into the faces of the moronic masses. I decided to see what the fuss was all about, and next thing I know I'm staring at my own icon and my own style and thinking "Holy fucking shit. I didn't write that...did I?"

This is the third or fourth time I've had this sort of thing happen in the past month, but this is the first time it's seriously made me think there might be something more than my sleep pattern fucking me up, because this time the consequences are really making me feel like complete and utter SHIT. These are people I have always wanted to get to know, but have always been too scared to really talk to, and now they have every reason in the world to tell me to fuck off and die instead of giving me a chance.

I'm really really sorry. I know I'm just a face in the masses, but I'm really really really fucking sorry. Problem is, how do I apologise to Kami and Chiv for something I don't know how to explain in fewer words than this?

---
