I'm not sure if I will continue with the name pcboy2005. I might start afresh. Will have a think over the Christmas break about that one.

I did a render out of the blue last week as I had itchy fingers Still think TG1 (Terragen) is better than TG2 (Terragen 2). It's either that or I still have not mastered TG2. I find the output's never look as crisp as TG1.

I'd been trying to get back into the swing of things and actually logon to Deviantart but never got there. It's been pretty busy recently at work. After working on a PC all day and looking after a network I sometimes can not even be bothered to turn my own PC.

I found out after the Christmas break that I have a kidney stone. Still waiting to go for scans etc... Public waiting lists suck.
Being in pain and also high as a kite on painkillers, I had no energy to hover over a keyboard. It's been pretty good recently but as I was told even though the pain stops it doesn't mean it's gone.
I soon get reminded if I over do it when riding the old mountain bike.

I had a few good finds in the last inorganic collection we had last month (where people throw out stuff they don't want by the road side for the council to kart off to the dump)
I found a 15" LCD monitor with a PC to match. I actually had a chat to the guy who threw them out. He said he'd upgraded to laptops. ???? Downgrade if you ask me.
After a bit of work on the LCD (The guy had cut the leads off) I got it going. The Motherboard I got out of the PC is a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP. It had 512MB of RAM in it with a AMD Athlon XP 2400 (2GHz)
It's now running as my second PC which has allowed me to pass on the one I had to my youngest daughter.
I also found a Victor JA-S71 stereo integrated amplifier. It needed 100V input so it sat for a bit as our voltage is 230V. As I work in a transformer company getting one made to power it wasn't a problem.
It is the most evil amp I have owned. My big sub's can only just handle it. I can't find much information about it on the net. The closest is the same model number but made with the JVC logo on it.
The Victor is identical apart from that. Victor must of renamed to JVC at the time this model was put out. I'd love to know a bit more of it's history.

Well that's enough rambling. I need another coffee.
I should have some renders on the way soon.

My first impression was WOW, but that changed as I discovered the final render can only be a max of 800x600
I thought there would be restrictions but not that bad.

I found that Terragen 2 uses 100% CPU all of the time. I don't know if it's my machine or that its suppose to suck that much CPU.
My first render failed after a complete lockup of my PC. I am now currently re-rendering it.
Render time is quite long but hopefully worth it. Its taken 42 min’s so far and has a long way to go.

Apart from the size restriction and high usage it's quite good. I'll give it an 8/10 for now.

since I last logged in. Five weeks ago we were given six weeks notice to move out. We had been in the place for nine years.
I found a place in Te atatu South in grabbed it before someone else got it. We had already lost one place and didn't want to lose another.
The new place is great. 3 bedrooms + a study. Internal garage plus workshop space and another huge garage out the back. Heaps of room.
It's gonna take a while to unpack everything but theres no rush.
I hope to get some Terragen renders under way soon.

IE7 Beta 3 is out and the issue with the continue button not
being there when submitting is resolved.

Has anyone else had a problem with the continue button not being
there when they submit a deviation?
After firing an email to the DA staff I realized that it seems to be
the fault of IE7.
Another one to add to the list of bugs.
Until the final release, I will have to use Mozilla to submit.

I have been givin a Macintosh Powerbook G3 lomabard.
She's a few years old but run's like a dream.
I treated her to a fresh install of Mac OSX Panther and even gave the Mac version of Terragen a blast.
I was quite impressed with the performance seeing that she's only a 333MHz with 192MB of RAM.

I felt the need to get back into Terragen last week after being side tracked by various projects.
Got a bad habit of doing that I have.
Moded my Xbox over christmas and have spent most of my time on it. Guilty as charged.

I've started a new website to show how I modded my Xbox and the little tricks I found to make easier.
I've still got a fair bit to do with it.

I decided to give Aston 1.9.1 a second chance and built my new theme WinMedia [link]
I had the windows media theme running at the time so I thought it would look great rebuilt to run on Aston as a desktop shell.

~drumbo metioned replicating the same theme but in orange. It's giving me ideas. Could be interesting. I might go for a new theme though.

Seems only yesterday it was January.

Bought myself a laptop and new cellphone for christmas. Laptop works fine on my wireless broadband in the bedroom. Should be able to use it out side over the christmas break. If it is fine that is.

I have been busy recently learning to make DVD's with family photos and movies. Got it figured out now. This is all new to me. I have only had my DVD drive for a week.
I was going to use DVD's for storage but my boss kindly gave me a 40GB USB drive from work. It was one of a pair that we used to use for backup on our old servers. We now have new servers and a new backup system so the USB drives had been made redundant.

Got some cash given as a present. Very handy is cash.
Bought a PCI IDE card. Attached a 40GB drive and installed VMware workstation. I now have Terrragen running on a Virtual XP pro.
Rendering time is now very small. A render that normally took 15 odd min's now takes roughly 5. Thats one hell of an improvement.
