After some useless correspondences with Iomega Support finally I decided to open the damn case and took out the harddisk. My idea was to hook it to my PC and rescue my data... simple isn't it?

not really... :furious:

1st problem:
the bloddy Iomega uses Linux system... Bill Gates XP could not read it. I installed Partition Magic and used the FileBrowser to copy the files to my PC

2nd problem:
My PC harddisk is 80GB, 20GB is used as system and 60GB for data. Free space? 20GB. How in earth fit my 90GB pictures to 20GB free space? OK... calm down... My idea was to copy part, burn it to DVD and delete and copy, burn and delete... aso... simple? off course not. Why? look at 3rd problem.

3rd problem:
during that copying process (CPU utilization 100%) and it took the whole night to copy part of it, PC shut down and restarted by itself and it won't boot to Windows. Starting the safe mode it was turned out that some system files were corrupt (MUP.sys). What is going on here.
After Googling for MUPSYS it was clear I had hardware problem: my PC harddisk crash also.... NOOOOOO!!!! :censored::censored::censored:

So... now I have two broken harddisk and a lot of data must be rescued.
Not bad for week end :work:.

ok to fullfil the link here are 20 facts about me and photography:

  • i do not like this tagging... do you hear that? :flame:

  • i love photography as my hobby

  • i started taking picture when i was 12 years old

  • my first :camera: was Kodak. i forgot the model but the film came in somekind of cartridge. the manual winder sound "craaaak crakkk" :ashamed:

  • my second :camera: was my father Pentax KM... what a wonderful mechanik and manual camera to learn photography :) imho

  • as soon as my friend at junior high school found out that i could take picture (with probability of success 60% ;P ) then they appointed me as school documentary photografer.

  • in senior high school i joined photography club: CANILENS and became the chief at second grade. what an experience and :work: :P

  • at university my friend again appointed me as campus documentary staff... what a mistake hehhahehehea :laughing:

  • for several years due to :work: requirement i had only Canon Prima Zoom AF70 which i bought it at Salzburg, Austria because my office camera was broken :x

  • my first digital camera was a 80EU plastic toy from PennyMarkt - Germany... the one that you could use as webcam : 8-)

  • my second digital camera was Canon PowerShot G3... what an investment. I was broke :XD: this is a wonderful camera but focusing speed and focusing ability in low light disappointed me

  • my third digital camera was Canon EOS 20D... after searching and saving a long time i was brave enough to press the button

  • my dream is to explore the world and visit many countires as tourist :eye:

  • i am not a morning person... thats why you can not see sunrise photo in my :gallery: :D

  • my favorite coffe is Sumatra Lintong beans

  • i never learn skiing :(

  • i just finish reading Dan Browns Da Vinci Code... what a fiction :-o

  • i love soft jazz music from Kenny G, Earl Klugh etc...

  • i do not like being tagged

  • i love Disneys Cartoon movies

It would need a great patient and a lot of memory (I shoot only in RAW) when taking picture of animal... You could not tell them to stop moving and you would never know their next movement (it could jump to your direction and eat you :D )
