And what is the reason for this lack? I believe it is because I want to express myself through creative work. Work where I can feel the answer instead of having to memorize some nasty equation to figure it out.
I find myself absorbed in photoshop and 3dsm for hours, refining and experimenting.
I genuinely enjoy that.
I could never get myself to sit down and do engineering-related work for more than an hour without wanting to do something else, practically anything, to avoid the work.
I love technology and computers, but I realize now that going into the depth required for real engineering work, takes the fun out of it for me.
I taught myself everything I already know about computers, I think I can teach myself whatever else I really want to know.

After making the decision, a lot of my friends and family say that they saw it coming.
I suppose in a way I've been stubborn in holding myself to a standard of "if you have the intelligence, you must use it for the hardest thing possible"
It's time to focus my mind on something more personally fulfilling to me.

I bought them secondhand but made sure they were unopened copies, saved at least $20 that way. The only downside was the people I ordered from were in oregon, canada, and california, so the fragile came yesterday, 26 mixes came today, and ok computer should arrive tomorrow...
This marks the first time in 2 or 3 years that I actaully bought music, after I looked at my mp3 collection, and calculated that I actaully own 8.3775% of the music there (1.5 GB out of 18 ) I figured I should buy some of it, I had already heard all of the music I was gonna buy, which made selection easier.
It feels better listening to an actual cd, the subtle differences in sound quality, plus the knowledge that you really own the music adds to the experience.

Well, time will tell the truth, I'll wait until tomorrow to see how things turn out.

Another thing about Da that's pissing me off is the continuous 404 errors! Whenever i submit a piece, i can rarely view it after the completion for at least 5 minutes, and i don't think other people can either! I notice a lot of pieces on the main page have this problem too...

Lastly, and i know this is oversaid, but DA's getting taken over by cheap anime sketches...i was looking through the 'recent submissions' to try to spot my submission, and a good 50-65% of what i saw was rather mediocre anime sketches! I'm not disrespecting anime at all, i love good anime art and cartoons (Cowboy Bebop anyone??) but i hate the crappy little sketches that are constantly being submitted in a weak emulation of the true style! and of course the artists of these things get others like them to form a comments/favorites ring for their art and promote eachother's cheap imitations...i really think DA should be divided into 2 sites- DeviantArt and DillutedAnime

Recently I have realized that i'm becoming more and more recognized for my work... i'm glad I feel like i'm slowly but steadily rising above a mass of "artists" who aren't really part of the meaning of DA...posting pics of their pet or something (not to really discredit those who do, but i don't call it art) and hopefully by this time next year the quality and intensity of my work will be amazing compared to now (which to some is already amazing ). I can't wait to see how far things will go...
