~Daro2 and `chezza-t18 here, once again, with great news and announcements.

Announcing Perth's Autumn devMeet!

When: Saturday April 29 [end of school holidays]
Where: Perth Zoo!
The plan: Meet at Perth Train Station at midday, wait the usual 30 minutes, then catch a ferry to Perth Zoo. Of course, you can meet us at Perth Zoo, or the ferry stop too.

Adult (other than Seniors and Concessions) $16.00
Australian Concession $13.00

For some, all day ticket for the public transport [buses, trains and ferry ride] may be a good idea - Concession: $3.10 Adults: $7.60

Picnic and ball-games in the park lands, shop, check out the animals, walk with the animals, talk with the animals, go crazy Dr Dolittle style....and countless photo oportunities!

FLASH MOB DETAILS AS TOLD BY OUR BELOVED FLASH MOB LEADER, ~pixelatedprophet:

Cancel that Saturday lunch and put on your dancing shoes, PerthMob #4 is coming!

On Saturday the 1st of April be sure your watch is accurate (call 1194 or visit [link])

Aim to be in the city before midday and make your way to Raine Square (this may be familiar territory for those who took part in PerthMob #1)

The mob rep will be nearby between 12:00 and 1:00. Seek out someone from a more tropical climate and say, I cant find any lime to go in my coconut. You will be handed the instructions for the mob. Wander off, read and follow them.

There will a be an ECU film student recording the mob for an assignment, if anyone has any real problems with being filmed, just let the mob rep know on the day.

Now go forth and spread the word, tell everyone you know! Bigger turnouts mean more fun and more future mobs.

Some quick guidelines if this is your first mob (from the sydmob website: www.sydmob.com)

- Best tip is to be on time, it will all be over in a few minutes and you can easily miss it if you dawdle.

- If you are attending a mob with either a partner or a large group of friends, organise to meet at a designated spot after the act has taken place. Preferably this spot should be far enough away so that people who have just witnessed the event don't put 2 and 2 together.

- When the act is over, disperse from the area at the allocated time outlined in the instructions handed to you by the organizer. Choose a direction and leave *alone*. Hook up afterwards to share the joy! We are trying to give the impression that what just took place didn't actually happen at all.

- When the disperse happens, leave the area in a calm and sensible manner. When you have a group of people which could reach well over 100 it's never a good idea to initiate a mass stampede, the threat of injury is quite real.

- If there is a presence of authority (police, security etc) and they give out explicit instructions to leave the area, do so. Even if its before the designated disperse time. Having people arrested for taking place in a flashmob is not the kind of attention we are seeking.

- Leave nothing behind but the lasting effect on the minds of your fellow mobbers and the witnessing general public.

anyhoo, the following has been passed on to me from the brilliant =pixelatedprophet, letting you know in advance of the next flash mob!

PerthMob #3

After a hectic Christmas break, PerthMob is back in action.

On Saturday the 7th of January make sure your watch is accurate (call 1194 or visit [link])

You will need to bring a section of newspaper (please dont lug the entire Sunday Times in) or just pick up a street press like X-Press on the day.

Attempt to be in the city before midday and head to the grassed area opposite the entrance to the Art Gallery of Western Australia, near the large geometric steel art thing.

?The mob rep will be nearby between 12:00pm and 1:00pm. Look for someone wearing white and carrying a green folder.

Approach this person and say Im having trouble with todays crossword

You will be handed the instructions for the mob, wander off, read and follow them.

PerthMob is steadily growing and its great to see plenty of new faces at each mob mixed in with the faithful regulars. Remember to spread the word!

Uh yea. Hey pals and glas, `chezza-t18 here once again sending all you crazies an update.

So, the wai-con was.. interesting, to say the least. lol those that actually had an above average time, glad to catch up with you.

But lets move on from that. On to the final meet for 2005.

KINGS PARK PICNIC!

WHEN: December 28 picnic devMeet at Kings Park.
WHERE:Perth Train Station at 12pm [top platform next to the News Agency] where we will wait no longer than 30mins till we catch a red CAT bus to Kings Park.
MEET SPOT: Perth War Memorial at 1pm. From there we can go to either the park on Frasier Avenue looking over the river and city, or the Botanical Gardens.
BRING: Anything you want! sports equipment (cricket, soccer, footy, frisbee, jugglers flaming torches) lots of food (+ some for trading and sharing), a camera, anything else you might want to bring to a picnic, some cash, plus a friend!

I hope to see as many of you as possible! If this is gonna be your first devMeet, then bring a mate. We'll be on our best behaviour... promise...

On a side note, thanks to those who have rocked up to previous Meets - we like to organise social events and it's good to know that you enjoy meeting new people. So, on behalf of the =perthdeviants team, we'd like to send a big shout out to you all.

=Daro2 here, snatching the journal back just before the Devmeets this month. Thats right, in case you didnt know, we are having TWO devMeets this month, where you get to meet and catch up with fellow West Australian Deviant Artists like yourself.

But first, the usual stuff.
What is PerthDeviants?: Perth Deviants, or PD for short, is a community for local Western Australians to meet and get together both online and in real life at devMeets. Perth being the capital city of Western Australia.
devMeet? Short for deviant Meet, this is where fellow deviant artists get together in the real world, beyond the dAsphere, and form real world relationships, have fun and take photos!
How do I join/can I become a PerthDeviants? Just devWatch us, and show up to devMeets if you can. Its that simple! The group is open to all West Australians, not just Perthies, nor is our motto, Perth deviants, sexy deviants city specific.
You will get notified of new devMeets in your message centre when we post new journals and polls, but don't forget you can participate in our dAmn chat room #perthies, forum, shoutbox and comment at any time in the mean time.

Anime Me Up!
Anyone who can thing of a better header here gets a free spork.
PANIC (Perth ANIme Convention) or Wai-Con, ("Wai!" being that popular and cute Japanese shout of joy - so this is essentially Annoying-shout-of-joy Convention - in response to the comments I know I'll recieve - bah, Humbug!)

...is held at Murdoch University over two days, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 December. There will be Cosplay [definition], competitions, merchandise traders, workshops, plus much much more. So head over to http://www.wai-con.org for more information, and we hope to see you there all dressed up!
Where and when we meet: Stay tuned, and we'll update this journal with a meeting place before the event.
Cost: Pay at the door unless you have pre-ordered (now closed). $25 for one day, $30 for both, less for PANIC members and affiliates.

While its doubtful this stubborn non-anime-fan will dressup for Wai-Con, I'm sure some of my friends wouldn't be suprised if I came in my best sunday dress as Little Britain's Emily Howard with my dear friend Florence (`flameturret) to the December 28 picnic devMeet at Kings Park.
You can bring to this Yule-moot: sports equipment (cricket, soccer, footy, frisbee, jugglers flaming torches) lots of food (+ some for trading and sharing), a camera, anything else you might want to bring to a picnic, some cash, and a mate. Remember, theres BBQs there, and an [expensive] cafe.

JAFWA - The Japanese Animation Fans of Western Australia is an anime club with screenings held at Curtin University and was the first to be established here in WA.
MAD - MAD stands for Murdoch Anime Directive and, yes, you guessed it -- it is Murdoch University's anime club. This year, WAI-Con will be held on MAD's turf, at Murdoch.
UWAnime - UWA's anime club. UWA was where WAI-con 2004 was held.
