dA had it's 9th birthday :cake: a couple of days ago and there were some pretty fun events going around the site. For example the dAtribes, which I had the honor of driving my watchers mad about, was a chatroom generated game [link] pretty cool. And of course there was the coloring contest, as always! I Didn't take part on this one though I did start coloring the darn thing [link] And yeah, some other events, you can find the whole list here [link]

More in dA news are the social networking buttons now found in the description of every deviation. I had the chance to use the twitter one, makes life easier. Basically what it does is you click the network you want to share the deviation on and it does it automatically, so that we can bring great art to the surface one step at a time :) There was a whole drama created as to these buttons generating more art theft, and you can really argue with this. Personally I found it a great idea (Hear that dA Gods? :P )

Finally, the new portfolio feature. Thumbs up all the way to the sky! Really loved it. I've been using it for some time now and even though I'm not into photography professionally, it made my work look like I am :drool: ! Yes, dA is for art. It's for projection. It's for photographers, for fine artists, for designers to get unbiased judgment on their work, to get better, learn from their mistakes through third party commenting. Yes dA is for that.
But lets not get carried away. Lets not get angry. I log into dA not only to receive comments on my work but to have fun. I find dA as a medium to express my wackiness and NOT get criticized for it. I get tired of this dead serious reality. Real life friends will comment on my desire to not get angry easily, to laugh with no reason and go childishly wacky whenever I can. THERE i get criticized. I understand there are people that get angry with this childishness in real life, but the internet should not be like that... IT IS NOT like that. Don't spoil it. Just join the fun :) That's how it's supposed to be. I apologize if some believe this is spamming, but I'm not going to stop doing it :hug:

Another stereotype that I've always had hidden behind my brain within the dust bunnies was that all Greeks love Cypriots. Surprisingly, some days ago I came to the bright discovery that bad apples exist everywhere and all this through a small simple comment, and I quote:

"hahahah th malakia einai auth re malakes tourkousporoi? hahahahahah gia ton poutso!"

Now now don't get me wrong, I know he is probably a spoiled 15 year old but using that specific phrase to describe Cypriots after all those emotionally striking historical events that both of our Countries have surpass is shocking. I've never met a Cypriot that despises Greeks (probably just out of luck) and this is my first encounter of a Greek speaking in such a manner and even though it's a really small, 'overwritable' event, it probably has changed my view of the matter permanently.

I've recently been to Qatar for the Model United Nations Conference (Which I have not contributed to AT ALL mainly because of health issues) and the only thing I want to state hereby all of you today is that : WE CREATE STEREOTYPES even if we don't really have full understanding of doing so! We went there scared of the idea of being next to muslims mainly having in our heads facts like: The girl that was raped and then sentenced to death for having so! Or the fact that women must be completely covered etc. You know what? I was stupid for even feeling the slightest of scared! The people there are very friendly! Friendlier than even Cypriots I may say! I made friends with some Qatari girls and meet up/became friends with the group from Yemen, also muslims. It was fantastic! We had an incredible amount of laugh and I learned some interesting facts about their culture and religion. I am extremely exuberant for taking part in such an activity (even though I cut back on my lessons) and encourage EVERY SINGLE ONE of you to do so! It is a one-in-a-lifetime experience!

The night before...



It's Christmas Eve today and I though of writing about love and the adventures of trying to find it. :mikeylove:

Love and air can be considered similar, they are both odorless, colorless and we hardly realize they are there. But you sure can feel it; If you, though, let yourself to it.

If you're still in the quest of finding love, today is a perfect day to end it, cause today you should realize that it's already there. It's always been.

Today I stumbled upon a blog entry that read:
"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
Shine the light on the barriers that you have created , whether that's feelings of low self esteem, selfishness, ignorance, plain hate or the like. Try to realize that they ARE there and allow yourself some time to love back. "Do you [still] hold hate or violence in your life?" :cowtwo:

You should feel it's right to break out of this self-inflicted prison sentence :hug:.
YOU have the say to your problems.

p.s. Even though part of me still helps this propaganda for making Christmas a highly commercial time, I still feel that we NEED times like these. Cause, sometimes, they are the ones that wake us up from our hibernation.

edit: VISTA OS HAS CRASHED. REPAIR IS NEEDED. I DON'T HAVE THE CD...
THIS JOURNAL... WAS A TOTAL DISASTER..
I AM GETTING A MACBOOK :)

Never in the history of OS-making I've observed such an attitude towards Microsoft. We've all used it, most of us still use it, but we still feel it's lame using it... I admit it, the epidemic contaminated me as well and I am passing through a "I-DESPERATELY-NEED-A-MAC" phase.
So the story goes like this, I was using vista, I had to format (burned HD), I reinstalled vista, 2 weeks and 3 matrix movies later, my laptop for some reason thought it was Neo and that it was ok to slow time down and perform karate shenanigans. It was so frustrating, I couldn't run anything since it would go dead and I was forced to migrate to my old XP-Gateway-Tower-PC... It'd been the best PC-using times of my live! No clashes, no slowdowns... everything moving smoothly (though in an uncomfortably low resolution). So it came to me! Why not change my OS? So I downloaded Ubuntu (hp didn't have my laptop drivers for XP so it was a dead end)! I was so happy thinking everything would change but then came compatibility issues... No Photoshop (without 10 hours of manual installing at least), no iTunes, no access to my 500GB Time Capsule but the worst of all, the most frightful thing ever, the thing that made me realize I still love Windows... Adobe Flash needing more than a single click for installation! It needed A THOUSAND OF F***ING clicks and manual code executing actually...

So, now, from the security (I know, it feels weird) and comfortableness of my Vista OS, I transfer this message to you...

"Even if times are harsh and your Windows OS thinks it's NEO, even if you spend hours and hours restarting and even if you've ever needed to open a task manager for the task manager that just froze... LOVE YOUR WINDOWS! Cause they are PRECIOUS! :heart:"

No, my friend's did not abandon me, and NO I've not turned EMO... It's just that DeviantArt seriously let me down for the very first time.
The issue here is, false promising. As the sign next to my nickname indicates, I am a subscriber. And as a subscriber, I have the privilege of navigating through this site without annoying advertisements, right? Well, according to what's being said on the subscription-buying section,
YES - I - AM
So here I am, with a big frown on my face, asking you my fellow members...

" 'Informing' every member that DA has a brand new product for sale above every freaking comment-entry box is NOT ADVERTISING? "
Now, don't get me wrong, it's not the advertisement that angers me.. It's the fact that before I pay 25 euros so that I could have a year of clean and colorful deviantart, I was told, or better put, I was PROMISED a site free of advertisements... And here I am once more, with a big frown on my face for being lied by a site I so love, feeling.... cheated!

NO.. I am not exaggerating, that's exactly how I feel...
It's been days, and the reply from the help desk is still to come.

P.S. The source of my anger was not the ad, it was the fact that I've paid for something that (as it seems) I have not received. This IS considered fraud you know. Think of it as buying all the episodes of 'Death Note' in High Definition on bluray, and you get a Dvd with 23/25 episodes in DV, wouldn't you take it back to the shop?

Super Duper Goal list

Hey DevBuddies,
Since Monday, I am legally allowed to drive a motorbike, enter clubs and definitely a bunch of other stuff I can't recall right now.
Yes, it was my birthday - ask *bikikiz and ~4sticks - and except from some wish-comments from unknown deviants on my profile, and the fact that I was (and still am actually) sick all day long, everything was peachy pink. The day was marked when my friends Antonia and ~Nicolas-RR surprised me with a birthday cake in my own house, and even though it was just a 10 minute thing, it will definitely stay forever within me.
And yeap... I made a 17th goal list! How typical you'd say... Though I refuse, since this was no ordinary goal-list... It was not written by me, but by my friends, and I hereby publish it. Urban Soul failure

So I just returned home from Nicosia where I paid a visit to the Urban Soul Festival.
I am very disappointed. I went there at 18:00... left at 18:30 ! I really hoped it was going to be a festival full of work from different artists but the main attraction was a band, followed by a small dirt-path with scattered attractions. I was at least excited I was going to get the new "Pixel this" (note: this is the first time I bought it) but trust me... 5eur is DEFINITELY not worth a 20 A8 paged magazine with only different pieces of work in it. Though I was proud to have discovered =olderchests *bikikiz , ~gh0zt and ~Pat-Rantouf in it.

Yippie! :D I .. AT LASTT... have my own CC :D and Paypal account, which I've been using effectively these last weeks... eBay is my best friend now :D I've bought a Nikon D80 which I love and keep care of :D and I've just ordered it's remote .. Meeting

So yeah, the two Cypriot Clubs in deviantart had another meeting last Saturday, and even though I didn't manage to stay for the whole thing, I can actually say it was successful! There was a lot of socialization going on and us, members, got the chance to dig up some more the member's artistic souls.

New site

During the meeting, our new admin :iconalwinred: announced that the Cypriot club in deviantart is gonna have a new site! I really love his enthusiasm :) After some consideration though, I don't actually believe that a site is necessary. Ok, so the site is going to exclusively be for Cypriot Artists, and the ability to create accounts and upload work will feature together with some other stuff like a forum, RSS (meaning, a more calibrated one?)and I guess some more that I didn't gasp... It's a really awesome try, but my thoughts on that is that noone is going to be willing to leave the large-scaled deviantart for a Cypriot site :hmmm: I don't know though... So, I'm putting up a poll (I guess the club should be doing that) to see who is ACTUALLY interested in such a thing, not that is definitely going to affect the result, but just out of curiosity. The poll is up, GO VOTE CYPRIOTS!!! :)

Time machine

I stumbled upon a drawer full of old photos at my grandmother's house while studying for economics and I was amazed on how drawn into them I got. I got to see my uncle's years as a soldier, my mum in a (weird words follow) sexy bikini swimsuit (!?) and my grandmother getting married. Of course nothing of this would had happen If my house wasn't being 'revarnished' and I was forced to migrate to my grandmother's place for my revision... So i decided to create a tiny little project for my whole family tree and create a video or animation with these photos. I probably begin tomorrow and I guess I should have it ready in a few days (edit: Make that weeks :P).. I'll upload it here for your thoughts.
P.S Some photos were so old, I felt it was a privilege for me to get to see them!

Art reclaimed

So our art projects were marked by the examiner and we were able to reclaim our work and bring it back home. I used 2 out of my 8 final pieces to decorate my room and bring a bit of color to my grey walls. So here they are:


I also used some of my photography and paint skills to decorate the wall(the flowers' outlines were done using some IKEA stickers)

((No they didn't use my brushes without crediting. I am generally speaking))) Hello people! So this is the issue. I can't stand when people use brushes and other stuff that are not theirs but don't credit the real owner when uploading their image here on DeviantArt! I mean... come on! Wouldn't you be pissed of if you accidentally found a deviation with a touch of you in it, and the owner didn't even bother mentioning that the brushes are not his/hers? I've been told by a friend that I am over exaggerating on the aspect, but every time I get annoyed when people do that, I can't actually lie to myself and say that every-thing's fine can I? That's how I feel! I apologize to you, reader, If I made you feel offended, no offense, but I wouldn't stand being acted upon like this and I don't thing you would either! You might not consider the issue so important, but let me bring it up like this: Let us say you've spent your whole weekend painting and designing your own art. You finish and your quite happy with your canvas-creation. You leave it there and you go away to sleep. Then someone comes along (kunistos ke oreos), takes your creation, adds a bit of splashes here and there, and then goes off to show it off to the world as his! We should be really grateful that these people allow us to use their hard-worked creations and just comply with their rules.. Don't you think?

That been said, I want to thank the people that comply with the rules, and apologize if I offended you in any way.. That was not my intention, I just wanted to bring up my point (and i think I was a bit to harsh on doing so :P). Thank you for reading :)

Sorry for stating it like that in the tittle, but that's what it is actually! A show where singing comes second, and revealing ZAMPA (butty) comes VERYYY first! There were greater songs that one could say are of greatest quality than the ones that came in the first 5. Israel's song for example. But then again Kalomira shook that sexy ass so much, or Bilan had to tore his shirt to reveal his sexy abs that everyone had to vote for them, wouldn't they? Oh well... At least Serbia organized the contest well this year, without annoyingly promoting their country like the rest did.

So guess after its success on Youtube, the tagging game came over to DeviantArt as well, covering everyone with its deadly claws! I've been tagged as well... but the thing is, it was not only by a single person, but by 3! Yep, :iconnicolas-rr::icona-line-in-your-book::iconfthora::iconragnanox: were not satisfied by torturing themselves into following with the game, they had to BuZzZ me aswell! And I now find myself eating FAJI with HALLUMI (and a bit of tabasco, salt and pepper) , listening to Gorillaz telling me to "dare to press it on me" and writing a Journal in deviantArt... Yep! A heavenly combination.

So I downloaded a leaflet from Uk's THINK! site (that’s [link] ->Notice how the English are once more ahead of anyone else) and translated it in Greek, printed it out 30 times and on Friday I went and stood for 2 hours at a crossroad’s traffic lights, giving out these leaflets to people not wearing their seatbelts. SUPRISINGLY ENOUGH 7 out of those that were asked to wear they seatbelts confirmed willingly to the aspect but then just ignored me and moved on without wearing their seatbelts, one of them even replied with a "NO" ! So, how on earth are we supposed to develop, If we just can't even keep the simplest of the most logical oral laws in this society, To shut up and listen to the ones that know a bit more when they tell you to do something, in combination with using their new technology.I now really feel that this video I made randomly fits with this. ( [link] ) Just think about it....
