All Things Phantom Radio Show
I was a guest on the Internet radio show, All Things Phantom ([link]) on August 22, 2009. Please check out the show page to listen to the interview, featuring discussion of my costumes, makeup, and website.

Phantom Fans Week
PHANTOM: The Las Vegas Spectacular will be hosting Phantom Fans Week ([link]) at the Venetian Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV September 16-20, 2009. I will be in attendance, and in costume for the Masquerade Ball on the 17. This is a promising new event with many highlights; first and foremost is the presence of Hal Prince! If you are also in town for the event, please come up and say hello!
Hello deviantArt! Happy Halloween season to all of you. First piece of news is a video blog from me, which includes some news from around the Phantom of the Opera community: [link]

Second, while in costume last night for some Halloween festivities, I took some time to film two quick segments on some of my costume pieces. Many people have sent questions about my sources for costumes, as well as general inquiries about the individual pieces themselves. I try to answer all of them in the following two videos:
Part I: [link]
Part II: [link]

As always, this information is also available on my how-to website, Phantom on a Budget ([link]).

Back in August I did a tutorial for making wigs using bald caps, liquid latex, and crepe and/or synthetic hair. This is the cheap, quick and dirty way to create a slicked-back hairstyle.

YouTube Link: [link]
Phantom Wigs and Hair: [link]

This is inspired by Dick Smith's Do-It-Yourself Monster Makeup book, which is a must have if you're interested in low budget, yet remarkably effective Halloween makeup schemes. In the book, Mr. Smith demonstrates this basic wig making technique while designing a Werewolf look which rivals that of the classic monster from old Hollywood.

Have a safe and happy Halloween everyone!

With an unexpected (and welcome) day off from work, I shot for about 8 hours in order to get this done, so hopefully it'll prove useful to someone!

This is a six-part series detailing how to create great Halloween/Phantom of the Opera makeup on a budget.
Yes, it's true; as if proof of my fangirlishness was not abundant enough, I have yet again posted a Phantom on a Budget video on YouTube. Sadly it does not feature the rest of the Phantom on a Budget cast, only myself. I was in full makeup last fall for a test run of the Halloween stuff, and decided to goof off by lip syncing to the OLC version of Music of the Night. Pathetic? A little. Amusing? Very much so. It's all in good fun. I find it particularly funny because of the pile of hockey equipment stuffed in the corner, hiding under my cape (which was revealed in DRAMATIC FASHION per the demands of my acting skills).

Video: [link]

Some of my stock on FantomeAngel was featured in AzurylipfesStock's stock resources article. [link] Thank you so much!

Of course I must mention the latest stock addition to FA: the Lon Chaney stock set. [link]
It only took me several months to get around to trying that makeup again, but I'm glad I did. It was a bit rushed and unpolished, but it was fun trying something new and I like the results.

Awhile back I did a stock set featuring Monsieur André, one of the Opera House managers from The Phantom of the Opera. At the time I didn't think the photos came out in spectacular fashion (and even now the quality's a bit lacking), but I decided to salvage a few and put them up on FantomeAngel. Check them out at the FA gallery:

[link]

I must say I'm really happy with how the makeup turned out. That was a really fun set to do.

Here I am actually writing a proper entry. Incredible, is it not? I thought I'd give a little update with my Halloween shenanigans and perhaps vent a little after this evening's fiasco. Fiasco first, if I may.

My face has finally healed up from some rather impressive blisters from the makeup on Halloween, so I thought I'd do another makeup for the original Leroux Phantom. I bought some nose putty and decided to play with that for the first time, so off I went. I think SP might have a laugh at this, but I finally had proper tape to do the nose effect (and it worked, haha). I got all the skull-like pieces built up and set, applied the cream and RMGP makeups, set those, then I get a phone call asking me to take care of the horses this evening. No problem, the person that was supposed to do them is ill, but how frustrated was I that I had to then undo ALL of the work I had just done? I was fuming at myself. I had planned to do a Chaney stock set for FantomeAngel as well as fill a stock request, but noooo. I even tried to sneak a few shots in, but once I had put my wig on I looked outside and saw it was raining, and I couldn't enjoy doing any stock knowing the horses were out in the cold rain. So I ripped everything off instead. I was thrilled. I think it would have been a nice set, too, and I was certainly looking forward to having some new makeup shots to share.

------------------------------------

For anyone interested in my AMAZING Halloween appearances as the Phantom at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, please take a look at my blog over at Phantom on a Budget: [link]

There's a pretty lengthy and entertaining account of my two appearances in costume at the KC. It was an unforgettable (if somewhat surreal) experience having a line of people actually waiting to have their photo taken with me. There's nothing more rewarding after all the time and effort that has gone into that entire costume than recognition from the public.

Cheers,
