I has a sub now! :0 Somehow I didn't realize there were actually prizes in the Field of Dreams tournament at until this morning when I woke up to see that I actually won the tourney~ Made my semi-crappy day so much better. And the feedback from the judges was really helpful. I'll be practicing different panelling stuff and plotting out the plot-etc for my comics for things like this beforehand from now on.

But yeah, anyway back in IRL-Land...

Art History - Has gotten a lot better starting today. Talked to my teacher about the journals and stuff (apparently 3 of us couldn't read the confusing-as-eff schedule for homework) and I actually was able to participate in class even though I did the wrong reading for this week x3 Gotta love going way off topic from what we should be discussing (not my fault for that even~).

Graphic Design - Bleh. Designing magazine spreads should be LOADS of fun -eye roll- Reminds me that I have to put up two things from that class...maybe....

Sculpture - Not going to say what I'm doing for my current assignment. But it's going to be freaking awesome and I may even wear it to a convention or two randomly (hint: it's one of my OCs! ;3 )

Total Fitness - I EFFING LOVE EXERCISE I can feel the fat burning away from my belly 4 days after having the class (and I have it again in 30 minutes!)

Everything else - bleh, worn out. Need to make time for my Scultpure project though (lots of materials to collect and lots of sewing to do).

And THANK GOD the deadline for was extended to the 17th. Now I can balance out the comic for that and work on requests/trades when I can.

and lol. The 3-day flu has been circling throughout our suite. First it was the smallest room. Now it's on the middle (me and Shell's) room. Maybe the large room will get it next, lawlz.

Going to start taking measurements for my Beatrice dress. Then I need to figure out what sort of fabric I need (lots of shiny fabric for the red parts and non-shine for the black; then I need to figure out how I'm doing the golden stripes/shapes). ...bah, I was thinking of growing my hair out for Beato's cosplay. Not sure now. Not sure how willing I am to temp dye my hair a yellow color, and I'll never get around to growing bangs. So I guess I'll be buying another wig and an extension (for my mom whole I know will read this eventually: I'll be looking for a short-haired wig so the cost is only going to put me back 15-25 dollars, the hair extension being about 5-15).
It'll be better for the long run anyway (potential for 3 Beato costumes~. But just this one for now. Because it's gonna cost me so much. especially if I end up effing up something and have to buy more fabric @_@ At least Walmart up here isn't getting rid of it's fabric section any time soon (they had BRAND NEW FAUX FUR BOLTS for like $14 a yard. Pretty sure they're doing fine). And the price for the fabric I've been eyeing isn't HORRIBLE but still pricey (it's freaking good fabric). I think this one costume will put me back $100 by the time I'm done with everything (including accesories, wig, etc). But if I do a good job on it....I dunno I guess I may look into costuming as a side job or something (better to have something to fall back on in case illustration/2-D stuff fails).

He has a mini-tutorial about resin/fiberglass casting and stuff. I may end up getting into this as well since we'll be learning how to make plaster casts and the such in Sculpture which I immediately identified as a potential for making armor/props. This'd be great if I ever got around to making a Zoids gijinka, new Rena cleaver, other random shit I could try to sell P: Probably would start with small stuff first just to test out the materials. and I'd do that at home. where I have ventilation. Also known as a garage. With a respirator. And gloves. And apron. And some old-school Pokemon midis I ripped from the web yesterday cranking. Yeah.


Oh, and I related art history to Star Wars in this week's homework. Thus, I win at life.


Maybe during my mid-term break, I'll be able to get some fandub recordings done. Been itching to do the full version of Katayoku no Tori, Why or why not?, and Egao Happy Peace, and others. Might even get some english lyrics written up for some other Higurashi character songs so my friends and I can finally get to work on our fandubbing project x3

Last few weeks have been real busy for me. Love all my classes though which is a big jump from hating almost all my classes last year.

Graphic Design looks like it'll be real fun learning some new programs (I'll finally be able to draw things on Illustrator lol!) but it's a pain in the but having to print out assignments in the art building >.> It's not like it's that far away but I usually have to carry stuff with me and then the weather is so bipolar here I end up carrying things I may not need. Really need to find some good quality paper like the stuff in the computer lab so I can print out in my room.

Sculpture makes me fear for my life xD I'm terrified of most of the woodshop tools and machines. Never had great experiences with wood projects before so I hope we don't have any more assignments in that area. But now we're doing metal sculpture. KIM KNOWS HOW TO WELD PIECES OF METAL NOW. It's too fabulous for words~ Just not fond of the MIG welder since I could burn my retinas out if something went wrong. Same with the plasma cutter. So I'll be working in there later tonight with at least one other person I know so I won't do something stupid and burn myself. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE the metal-cutting thing. It's like a miter saw but for metal, can't remember the real name of it, but I've never been fond of those sorts of cutting tools (this one more so since it's loud and cuts things....just like the table and miter saws I hate). But we'll be doing soft sculpture too (aka SEWING~).

Drawing from life to Abstraction is interesting to say the least. Not as bad as I thought it'd be. Will have some pics up of our current assignment next weekend.

NO ONE LIKES ART HISTORY SO STOP LYING TO YOURSELVES :< Such a boring class. I fall asleep during the lectures and have no way of participating in the discussions since either someone says something pretty similar if not the same as my own opinion on things or I just don't have an opinion on the topic at all or just don't care. And it's an instructor who's all "not talking during discussions = pet peeve" of theirs. I'm pretty sure no one wants to here my continually same opinion on everything so I just don't talk at all for the most part. Same with a few other people. We have the consensus that the material is a load of bull crap for the most part and the readings usually have NOTHING to do with what they're trying to talk about.

And I get to be in the student senate now for MIA. lol, senate really is boring.

Well, Higurashi anime seems to have officially ended. Pretty good last ep. for the OVA though I wasn't too, too fond of Rika's little blurb at the end. Dunno just kind of brought the mood in a strange direction for me :/ Rest of the ep was funny as hell though~

Umineko's being amazing as usual. If someone'd be awesome enough to tell me if the games are compatible for Mac and exact directions on how to do any converting of files, etc. I'm probably going to be purchasing the first four novels.

AND ESCAFLOWNE IS FUCKING AMAZING. Everyone should watch it. NOW. And if you already have seen it, GO WATCH IT AGAIN. lol, I even decided another use for my silver wig 'cause of this show -shot for even thinking about a Dilandau costume- Haven't finished the series yet, but I do know of that one fun plot-twist with Dilandau~ I blame AMV Hell for that.

And only a short while before the second season of Darker Than Black comes out <3

So, when my mom got home today she handed me this butterfly wing she had just found on the lawn before turning on the sprinklers. Didn't really recognize the color or patterns on the wings so I went to Google and searched every butterfly in New York. Got nothing~ Look for brown white spotted butterflies and found this picture of a butterfly that had the exact same wing pattern, different color though. Said it was a "Hamilton Island butterfly" next to the photo (lol flicker or whatever it was).

So.
Hamilton Island.
That's in Australia.

...I'm in New York~

Kept looking. Found it to be a Blue Tiger butterfly. Looked up their migration patterns and everything. Nothing on them going near North America :/ We're thinking it was part of someone's collection as blew away. It looks old as hell though. It's a faded medium brown with hints of it once being close to dark brown/black and the blue colored patterns are translucent-white. Besides that it's in wonderful condition, just one little bit of the top of the wing is gone.


Yeah...there's my wildlife story for today~

Except the snapping turtle....tried to pet it's tail.....not a good idea. Used a paddle (was canoeing). Christ fuck that thing was pissed xD Got a few pictures of it though but not great quality (brought along disposable's) :<

Been having a 'meh' kind of few weeks. Have to start getting stuff ready to go back up to school (which is what I should probably be doing instead of this journal entry xD ). Just really bored since I wasn't able to get a job this summer.
Need to get a new external recording microphone for my computer. The last one just stopped working correctly one day and I don't think I have the paper for the warranty for it (though I think by now the warranty's expired). I'll just get a more durable and cheaper one. As long as it can record decently I don't really care. I don't want to continue to have to bend over next to my computer's speaker just to record a fandub without background noise >.< Though I've discovered that Audacity really does hate me and won't stop making everything I record all crackly for no good reason. Currently re-doing a fandub I had up on youtube and absolutely hated (god knows why I put it up in the first place xD ) and discovered how awesome Garageband really is. I don't even have to bend over to be able for it to record my voice well :3

All you Pokemon Platinum owners: Go get your Darkrai NAOW. So happy this wasn't a Toy-R-Us event. Just go on Mystery Gift and get your little key-card-thing, pick it up at any PokeMart, go to the abandoned hotel and WA-LA, there's Darkrai for you to battle and capture. Unless you haven't beaten the Elite Four yet and gone to Fullmoon Island like me. Then you have to wait :< Event ends in early September.

So now I'm stuck with a wig that I don't know what character I want to use it for xD I'm leaning towards doing a Tsukasa from .hack//Sign cosplay since I wouldn't really have much to do with the wig in terms of styling and the length is pretty much the needed length (for those wondering, I have a silver Scruffy wig from cosworx.com ).

Anyone care to pitch in ideas of other silver, short-haired characters? Any series/fandom will do. Just want to get some ideas down before I finalize anything. And depending on what I decide in the end, I may end up making a Stein costume after all if the wig isn't altered horribly P:

- Beatrice from Umineko no Naku Koro ni: I'll be working on this at home and debuting it at AnimeNext 2010

This just greatly upsets me. I'm pretty sure I use my hands when drawing whether it be a pencil or tablet pen. Both ways I'm using tools.
I do understand though that since they're only accepting entries by mail that traditional media is preferred and easier to work with for what is a potentially large contest in knowing what is stolen and not. Just the way they put it is so.... frustrating
They have a thing saying to send letters with the art cause they get bored. They'll have fun reading mine and my wonderfulness towards how they worded Don't number 3. And I'm thinking of fun ways of inserting my signature onto the piece (hidden sigs + main sig ftw).

Too lazy to make a new journal entry so I'll keep editing......sometimes.

Taking my computer to the Apple Store tomorrow to see if I'll get my screen fixed. Depending if they take it tomorrow or not I may not be online at all for a few days (considering I was computerless for 4 days first semester of college cause water spilled into my computer and they had to replaced the motherboard or something, I think a screen may take less time depending on how back-logged they are......then again, ITS did have a pile of 10 other Macs to work on before mine broke and they fixed it before the others xD ).

So yeah. Gonna practice some traditional stuffs and buy some super sculptey and make some miniatures for AN next year, play some long-neglected Twilight Princess and Kirby Air Ride, and finally get my lazy bum into gear and start getting together an exercise routine -pokes her belly fat- It needs to GOOOOOOOOO Dx

I'm holding off uploading anything until I have either all of the comic strips for 's second round done or I finish all requests and trades. Also, I'm bringing my computer in to the Apple Store to see if I can get my screen replaced. It has a scratch on it that's been letting in dust and dirt and causing grey splotches to appear on the top of my screen for a few weeks now and I finally have a chance to bring it in this week >.>; So like....MAYBE art next Sunday or during that week.

I also think I have an un-healthy obsession with writing english lyrics for anime songs. I just finished writing english lyrics for the song 'Umineko no Naku Koro ni' and decided to write english lyrics for the new anime's opening and ending all in one sitting o.o Sadly, I made the lyrics work nicely as well without much effort xD Must. resist. urge. to write.....MORE.

And happy belated, U.S.A. B-Day thing.
Oh god it was awesome this year since my cousins and some of their friends had gone to Pennsylvania to buy some (it's ilegal in New York or something) last week and they were shooting them off in their backyard tonight. It was too entertaining. We only sat like.....20 or 25 feet away from where they were shooting off from xD And I moved over to the other side of the yard to stand with my other cousins and a friend and the next fireworks were a 'small finale' which turned out to be REALLY EFFING CLOSE TO THE GROUND. They were only like 10 feet away from my head D: But reallly cool. And I usually hate fireworks. And they were firing a bunch at a time. so sometimes the fuses wouldn't light while others would and everyone had to back off until the others went off, but one of our friends (which somehow this shouldn't have been surprising...) decided to dive at the fireworks and try to relight one of the failed fuses while everyone else ran off. The other fireworks started going off and he learned his lesson (he backed off really quickly and thank god nothing bad happened). But it was fucking funny :3

Like...I think I may just have to end them.
Cause, it's 2:38 AM right now and I'm fucking tired. I would've gone to sleep 3 - 4 hours ago if god-damn Audacity didn't fuck up and mute have to background music.
And then it decided to do that to the main audio file of the background music.
Oh, even better. My microphone-headset stopped working this week. What does that mean? LOWER QUALITY BACKGROUND MUSIC! though who can tell the difference I don't know.

Oh yeah, and I'm not going to 100% finish the audio file until Monday's practice. Why? Because I have more important things to do after mixing the important stuff together than to look up crappy sound effects.

Even better! I'm not gonna bother finishing Razor Leaf tomorrow morning. I'm just gonna go buy frisbees (I need them anyway for up at school next year since that's the only real outdoor activity we do there) and stick on some leaf-shapes later. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll hit someone in the face during practice. Oh well. suck for them.

And I refuse to ever mix audio for a skit again unless either (a) I wrote it or (b) it's less than 2 minutes.

Oh and I refuse to make this one go over 3 minutes. Why? Cause it fucking says it in the rules person-who-thinks-we-can-be-over-the-time-limit. Geez, don't people realize that unless a skit if fucking epic-amazing it should be short and sweet and not long-and-drawn-out.

One more thing: I refuse to make any pauses longer person mentioned above-even-though-he-can'tmay-not-ever-read-this-but-will-know-my-rage-soon-enough.

So then I thought "Hey, peoples were making hats at the beginning of the school year exceptIneveractuallygotaroundtomakingmine". And then today someone actually asked me if they could buy a Deidara eye scope from me. So here's my question to you all:

If I were to start selling cosplay props, mini-sculptures, and hats would you buy them?

Examples of what I mean:

- Deidara eye scope is a cosplay prop. I would probably only make smaller props such as this and other very minor things. The prices would vary the most with these since there are a wider variety of things to make. I can't really name any other sort of small props, but I'm guessing it'd range from things like the eye scope to Hanyuu's horns (Higurashi), Lucy's horns (Elfen Lied), kitty ears, and Simon's drill (TTGL) that would be able to glow with the help of mini-glowsticks ( xD I've done that one before).

- Mini-sculptures would be small, clay figurines. An older example that is in my gallery would be the Snake God I made for my friend. The largest size would be about the palm of my hand and the smallest maybe the size of a finger digit. Prices would range from $4 - $10 depending on complexity and size.

- Hats would be felt hats that look like things....like a Wobbuffet hat. Don't really have any examples. It would pretty much be a hat for whenever use made of felt and other fabric depending on what the design is. prices would range from $10 - $20 about depending on complexity and size (like if you have a kid who wants one or something). This summer I'll be working on a Leafeon hat and Ho-oh hat so I'll post pictures then.

It's just that since I don't have a definite summer job yet and don't have a job up at school I want to take a step up and at least try to make money someway. Especially after learning I don't have my scholarship for college anymore >.>; Now I have to take out a loan and stuff...but besides that yeah. I think it's a good time to start learning how to deal with money and selling items. I planned on doing this sort of thing eventually anyway as a side way to earn some cash for school and for me to buy yummy noms x3 Plus, it'll help me learn new ways to manipulate materials I'm not too familiar with (I haven't been around clay of any sort that much and I jsut started to get into sewing). So yeah.

Please comment just to say if you would or wouldn't. Not trying to pressure anyone into buying stuff. Just want to here some feedback from others n.n

Chie-sensei in a Higurashi Rei fandub
Jigglypuff in a Brawl Machima (not sure what's going on with it at the moment, but as far as I know I have a part)
Nana Ice-Climber in another Brawl Machima
Tsubaki in a small Soul Eater fandub
Miyo Takano in a Higurashi fandub

AND I'M SO FREAKING HAPPY I ACTUALLY GOT A PART AS TAKANO. Even though *spoilershesahorriblehorriblepersonspoiler* x3

Cosplay

I'll actually be able to start/finish my Leafeon gijinka over the next day and a half ;-; yayz. Now all I need to do is go to the fabric store and buy even more white fabric so I can make Stein's lab coat and maybe find a plain black shirt to edit *coughbeingtheslightlynewoutfitSteincough* And figure out the shoes....and make the head screw....and style the wig.....
And I'll be 97% finished with Rena's costume tonight. Just need to adjust a few things and sew the hat. Then all that's left is the wig >.>; Oh shit and the cleaver. Knock that 97% down to 94% plz x.x

Oh yeah and I'm bringing my Tyki costume back for AN this year Gotta figure out what to do with my hair again. Good thing it's the last costume I have to be in so I'm think of getting that hair spray stuff again.....that didn't come out for 4 weeks. Let's hope I can save the wig I had from last year @_@

Besides that school's almost done for me. Just have 2 tests this week and I'm back home by late Friday night. i has so much to work on though >_> I plan on re-doing everything I've worked on for the Rena cosplay so far since I realized I didn't like the fabric I was using. Jsut wasn't stretchy enough for me to be able to get it on and off (or what I had done so far). But at least I have a 90% fool-proof pattern for the dress so I should get it done relatively quickly. And I'll use the sewing machine this time.
Then I have to start my Stein cosplay. I plan to just buy a lab coat from the Walmart website and mod it and then find a thrift store and find two shirt I can cut up and sew together.
AND THEN I have to redo my Leafeon gijinka. I plan on going to Walmart sometime this week to see if they have any decent (and enough) fabric for this version.
And once I'm home I'm going to be helping to work on everyone else's costumes. I also plan on starting to make my friend Shelley's costume since she won't be around until the weekend before AN. So I'm going to be pulling my LI buddies to my house and fitting the costume to whoever's closest to Shell's size (Tobi-chan, I think you'll be my wonderful model for this if that's alright since I know I can abduct you easily enough and you're like the same height and stuff as my bud up here x3; ). She be going as a Bleach character. Soifan or something? Don't watch Bleach. Don't really know the character too well.
So many sleepless nights for the next few weeks while I'm at home. Which shouldn't be too bad and a lot of fun for me (Mark or Mom, if either of you reads this, yes, I will be pulling all-nighters of just sewing and prop-making because it's just so much fun. I'm also a more agreeable and friendly person when I haven't slept for 24 hours so ya won't have to put up with me having an attitude at all (I'm pretty much the equivalent to an overly-friendly/happy anime character who looks like they're about to fall over from no sleep...ramble.....ramble....I'm rambling now....head hurts >.>; ).

As for art-related things expect an extremely large wave of deviations from me within the next month or so. I have a crap-ton of traditional media art I've done over the past school year I haven't gotten to taking pics of yet and/or uploading.

And I plan to start doing some random comics of funny crap that's happened over the past school year. Not in any real chronological order. Just the random stuff I remember. Like that 5 hour Brawl session last night...lawlz.

Oh and I got PKMN Platinum the day it came out! Even better, I got the game with the DS case and Giratina figurine for now added cost and without having to pre-order >3 Guess going to school in the middle of nowhere and having Walmart nearby has it's advantages after all.
And I'm not doing what I usually do with PKMN games. I'm making my ASH (Alfred Silly Hat) Brigade (it's like an inside joke, but not really) team to use. So right now I'm on Victory Road with only a Grovyle: Krieg (lv. 57/58), Leafeon: Leef (lv. 57), Aerodactyl: Repo (lv. 62) and Drifblim: (name to be decided) (lv. 29) + my HM-whores 8D

The Repo Man from REPO! The Genetic Opera.











I was out at Walmart today with peoples and decided to finally get the movie REPO! The Genetic Opera (after wanting to see it for the past week and even more so since last night).
BEST $14 I EVER SPENT EVER FOREVER.
And the Repo Man is WINWINWIN. So much that I want to make a Repo Man costume. Which I plan to start next winter break. Which means I won't be able to make any other costumes for a while after that since I'll be broke from the huge amount of money I'll be spending on stretchy, rubbery, leather-stuff for Repo Man's outfit :c but it WILL be worth it.


So go watch REPO! The Genetic Opera. Which means go buy it cause it's pretty much nowhere online besides Megavideo and some other random movie site that DO NOT do the movie justice. Like, you NEED to see it with all it's high-quality goodness.

Decided to check up on the PETA site cause it's fun to look and see if they have any more silly news topics, etc. that make no sense. I was looking around the site and I was finding stuff on everything except bugs and fish. So I typed fish into the search bar and got some pro-life-for-fish site thing (fishinghurts.com). I don't think I've ever seen a PETA-like site for fish before. So I'm looking and find this article ([link]) on why you shouldn't eat tuna.

let me go through the list with you (slightly abridged):

1. Brain Rot! aka mercury poisoning.

My Reponse : Well that's just obvious. Then again, I'm pretty sure I don't want to be stuck with eating something that could potentially have salmonella/whatever it was that keeps affect spinach and tomatoes :/ But what doesn't cause cancer these days?

2. Tremendous Tuna aka tuna are big and swim fast

MR : What. The. Fuck.

Tuna are big and swim fast. So don't eat them.

=.= This is where I decided I wanted to make a journal on DA about this stuff.

3. Heart Attack on a Hook aka heavy metals *coughmercurycough* are bad for you esp. your heart

MR : .....*points at one....points at three....confused look* wait. didn't they just reword the first and this time actually back up their reason with statistics?

4. Would You Eat Your Dog? aka fish are smarter than dogs

MR : Well, my dog's currently a pile of ashes :3 Thanks for making me depressed again fishinghurts. Thanks.
But you have a problem with your argument: Fish are SMARTER than dogs. So....I'm not eating my dog am I?


5. Sorry, Charlie aka tuna are caught in nets and pressed together and people still use lines with hooks (longlines)

MR : I'm against the whole longlines thing anyway. Otherwise, not one heartstring was tugged reading this reason. All I could think about was that climactic scene in Finding Nemo when Nemo almost died. Oh gods, save the clown fish dammit! Dx

6. Death, Sopranos Style aka people beat the fish and freeze 'em

MR : Hmm, last I checked, the human race is now converting to something called an "open-water fish farm". Or something like that. Of course fish farms are bad. Not to be pointing any fingers but look at China. In all seriousness fish farms there are probably the worst. Otherwise, China's awesome. Cause they have Snakehead fish. Mmmmmm, snakehead...

8. Sickening Sashimi aka fish = more food poisoning over other foods

MR : BRING ON THE SALMONELLA.
This is one that really won't make me stop eating tuna. I've eaten some pretty crappy fish/food and somehow I've never gotten anything more than a tummy ache....oh wait......that was from eating half my weight in sushi....nevermind.
And may I point out that this site seems to be U.S.A. based only *points at the things saying "number one cause of foodborne illness in the United States*. Hmmm, do I sense people moving to other countries? Japan here I come!

9. Dolphin-Unsafe Tuna aka dolphins get caught in nets and chopped up into tuna cans

MR : I'm pretty sure they eat those things in Japan :/ At least that's what it said on the internet. I heard dolphins/whale's quite good.
But this is why I buy the tuna that says "Dolphin Safe" on it.

10. Tuna-Safe Tuna aka eat veggie-tuna

MR : I actually thought they were going to mention "Dolphin Safe" tuna cans.
Nope. Just veggie-tuna. It probably tastes pretty good. A lot of veggie/vegan stuff does. At least the stuff my friend Ryan cooked that day that we all put into sushi and onigiri.
and like most top ten lists for animal cruelty-related things, it ends with a "Go eat veggie things and try out the veggie-human way of life".

In conclusion: EAT SALMON.

So.....my break was goood. At yummy noms with the family and found out my cousin got a tattoo on her arm (little above her wrist. It says GHOTI which means fish. Pretty interesting way she explained it, too. It's all about weird pronunciations in the english language and stuff. And my other cousins was getting a tattoo on Saturday, not sure if he went through with it or not. It's a neat design our friend drew for him that he asked me to resize and make smaller, but I forgot to give him the pic x3; Then I was drawing tattoo designs all night that I'll upload eventually.

I went out shopping with my mom on saturday for a coat in larger size than my mom had originally bought and ended up finding my friend Shama working in Hot Topic so that made my day ^^ then I ran into my other friend Jen who's going to school at MICA I believe as I was walking out of Michael's (I gots new markers and pens!).

Oh-oh-oh I found awesome boots in DSW! owo Like, I can use them for my Ryuugu Rena cosplay (just need to attached shoes laces temporarily to it when I do cosplay cause they be expensive boots) but I also just like walking in them anyway. Which is really weird for me cause..they have like a 2 or 3 inch heel (it's a wide heel that's at a pretty non-steep angle so I'm not falling down as much as I would usually in heels, but yeah. Me likes them lots :3


And I finally sort-of caught up in Clone Wars. Missed the new episode on Friday ;-; and still haven't seen Rookies. Meh, whatever. Really only interested in episodes with Grievous xD

Anyway, I finally started researching for my first really big cosplay project. It's kind of obvious what it is by the name I've given it: Project Cloverplay

But it's all fun-filled none-the-less.
Never done a fursuit-like cosplay before, but I think I'll enjoy working on it greatly. And once it's done I plan on revealing it during New York Anime Festival whatever year I finish it. That's probably going to be in 2010. This year I'm working on a Stein cosplay and redoing Tyki and Leafeon cosplays. I'll start actual work on the Cloverplay stuff during my winter break when I'm back home on Long Island and continue it in May when I finish school and head back home. If I'm lucky and don't have a big summer job or something, I might be able to get most of the costume done during summer of '09. I'll probably have a few of my IRL friends back home help me with it too (I'm looking at you Ama, Tobi-chan, Caitlin, Jamie, Jess, Shama and Zith).


On a side note, I have started drawing gift/birthday art for people here on DA. Basically it's everyone who I'm friends with, comments, a few watchers here :3 They aren't really elaborate drawings, just pics of people's characters, etc. I'll be finishing them up over the next few weeks.

On a sadder note, they stopped the DGM anime Dx
It's kind of a good thing though since it WAS catching up really fast to the manga, but I'm surprised that it's ratings in Japan (from what I hear) weren't that great this past season. I was really looking forward to Komuvitamin D and more Noah-fun-filled-ness soon :c



A little 'bout college now.
I'm really enjoying myself here. Sure it's in the middle of nowhere and my schedule doesn't really work with the bus schedule over to Hornell so I can go to Walmart and Wegman's, but it's nice. I've been procrastinating a lot with school work which is going to change as of this weekend (maybe not so much today since I don't feel like working and haven't left my room since I woke up at 11 AM). I also just realized yesterday home many new people I've met and become friends with, freshmen, sophmores, juniors and seniors. Never thought I'd end up knowing so many people :3 And everyone's really awesome and nice, too. The only thing I have to complain about is the bi-polar weather up here. Just this week it's been sunny, cloudy, storming, sunny again for 5 minutes, etc etc. And this isn't just day to day. It's like....every few hours sometimes x3
And one of the new peoplez I met let me download anime from here computer 83 Now I can finally watch Code Geass without bashing my head through a wall to get good quality subs (subs or dubs was fine, but just finding the episodes and having them not take forever to load was pain in the ass). I also got Fullmetal Panic! and Soukou no Strain to watch.

AND I HUGGED AN UBER AWESOME TYKI COSPLAYER THAT MADE MY DAY SO MUCH BETTER -squee- though I feel like I scared him somewhat x3 <3 for him. And I hugged Viral and Fox McCloud :3


But now I need to write down the list of cosplays I plan to do over the next 10 years (10 because some will definitely take longer than others):
2008 - 2009: Dr. Franken Stein (Soul Eater), Leafeon redo (Pokemon), Tyki Mikk redo (D. Gray Man)

I also may try to revive my Deidara cosplay if I can get a wig since I don't think I'm going to grow out my hair as long as I did this year -likes having shorter hair- I've also been considering Allen Walker Crown Clown as a cosplay, but probably won't go through with it :/ SOMEONE TELL ME WHO THE HELL I LOOK LIKE SO I CAN FIND MORE COSPLAY IDEAS PLEEZ.

So, New York Anime Festival is next Friday. I'm really pumped about it and hope I won't have too much homework to do x3 Even if I do end up having lots of homework (specially art) I'll just bring whatever I can with me or work on it before Friday.

Which means I have to finish my cosplay by Sunday. Which surprisingly is actually going to happen.

I have sewn the majority of the dress together (not to those who don't know: I'm being a Leafeon gijinka) and am about to attach the straps.

But I noticed something funny when I was trying to get the dress part on:

the way I sewed the dress so far makes it look like some ancient greek/roman robeponcho-ey thing. Which also looks like the combined Mizune sisters form's top from Soul Eater (sort of) xD it's really freakin comfy too owo

Then I need to finish attaching the leaves and repainting them.

And I'm dying the dress tomo...er...today -clock says 3:03 AM- x3 oh good god I'm never getting to sleep. and i still need to make a cardboard grandma....oh pooper.


So who else is going to NYAF? If you are and your cosplaying / being with someone cosplaying tell me! I wants to see peoples from DA x3 I swear I don't bite or abduct children.
O, and I'm definitely only going for Saturday. 10 hours to get to the city and 10 hours back isn't a kind thing to my convention time x.x

Besides that, college is going pretty good. have a lot of work so a lot of my projects are on hold right now. That means:

But hopefully sometime this weekend I'll be able to start (and I really hope finish) my Leafeon gijinka cosplay. all i have left to do is take apart this big shirt, dye it, and sew it back together to look like a dress. i also have to repaint the ears and tail and make these little band things for the little leaves which should take all of 30 minutes. Otherwise i have everything else all ready to go :3

And I'm planning on working on and finishing another cosplay by Halloween:

What I found even better were all the rebates I got with it. Like:

- A printer/scanner/copier. Cause our other one broke so....this one works xD I probably won't have it hooked up until I get to college in late August though so no new traditional stuff from me for a while :C

- A free iPod touch Trying to load it up as I type.

- Adobe Suite 3. ...I have like....9 new art/computer programs....worth like...$700-$900 a program.....all for $400 >D -loves the student discounts- The actual suite program they have that isn't the student discount it about $1700 so...huzahh!

But enough joy. Cause apparently someone thought I had violated copyright things and DA deleted my Ho-Oad (the toad/Ho-oh) sprite. Said that I was infringing on copyright yadda yadda. Pretty sure I didn't. I was requested to make that from someone on Mount Moon Community a while ago and they gave me the picture of the toad they wanted sprited over (which looked like every other picture of a toad on google D: ) etc. So I'm countering the deletion and seeing what happens. If nothing happens in my favor I'm just going to reupload it with some other sprites I haven't put up yet. yeah.

This kid decides not to directly credit me for the Allen Caramelldansen vid she put up. Yeah, I know she isn't taking credit for the art herself, but I asked if she could credit me directly (since it's kind of obviously that when you search for 'allen caramelldansen'etc, that my thing pops up (the original one)). So she got into a hissy-fit saying (and I quote): "People who request Credit for there art dont deserve it in my eyes"
She added on to forget about the incident since she says she didn't know it was mine (she found it off of crunchyroll apparently) (even though that isn't a good excuse since it's easily found on youtube by searching) but I can't just drop it.

People who ask for others to give credit back to the original artist SHOULD get credit. They put work into their art. Giving credit is the nice-non-stupid person thing to do.

So now it's war. She's blocked me from commenting any more on her allen dancing vid and from her main page. Doesn't matter though. I could easily create another account on this computer and use that instead. But I won't. Too lazy. xD

But yeah....harassing others for theft (it IS theft since she didn't get my permission to use my art) is a GOOD thing children. So go do it. It's fun >D

You'd be hearing the following noises no matter what in whatever I end up recording:

I-Con is next week. the 4 - 6. my Deidara cosplay isn't done. i probably won't get it done in time if I can't get to Jess's house this week and part of next.

Went up to visit the College of Saint Rose on Saturday for my portfolio review (which I thought went pretty well) then got to view the art facilities and the rest of a campus. It's was alright. Probably not going to go their after seeing New Paltz today (which I loved so so much).
But now I have the problem of the accepted students day for New Paltz (I got accepted within the past 2 weeks to New Paltz and Alfred) is on the Saturday of I-Con >_> So, for my friends who expect me to drive them they can either have someone else coughmandarcough drive them or wait until I get back in the early afternoon to go (I'll be leaving uber early in the morning and have a tour of the art facilities set up before hand before I go so I should return around 12 or 1 depending on traffic). Plz don't kill me 'kay?


Uh....and...I'm doing the 14 Songs Project ([link]). Sounds a bit like what I'm doing with my AP Art concentration drawings (aside from what I said I'm doing) which is using song titles as an influence for the scene/creature(s) I draw. Have two tests next week, AP US Government & Politics and Math B Regents. Oh so much fun -.- Have to memorize about 50 different US Supreme Court cases since the 1800s or whatever...pain in the rear class....

And I still have a few more college stuffits to get out. Need to send Marist my portfolio, get the Saint Rose app out (and find an essay or something to submit) along with the portfolio I think, get the RISD portfolio out with the 3 drawings they want (probably gonna get the paper today or actually look for some in my basement), find a time to get a portfolio review for Saint Rose and AIB. More pain the rear things.

Cloverfield

Eh, go see it if you don't get motion sickness. I don't recommend looking at reviews of the film before seeing it. It occured to me a few weeks ago that pro movie critics/reviewers tend to be in a different age group than I am. They grew up in a different world from me. And a lot of them seem to have some strange preferences to sappy-crap war/war-romance films xD Seriously, go look at movie reviews for films over the past year. Not including animated/cartoons films, most of the positive reviews are towards war, war-romance, historical, or real-life-like films (like that into the wild movie). NOw look at fantasy and sci-fi films. I hear more negative or 'I don't care' reviews for the non-realistic films than a war-romance that's been over-done and become cliched to no end. Then again, I could be adding my own bias towards sci-fi, but I do like a wide variety of films (I don't prefer one genre over the other. Most of the films in theatres I've seen are action/sci-fi/fantasy/comedy but I've seen many more films on TV that weren't out or I wasn't able to watch before I was born/during my younger years that I love now (Flowers in the Attic being one. Do see it. It's lovely)). Yeah....mini ranting when I'm semi-tired-ish.

You all should know by now I'm working on a series of drawings title 'Akatsukimon'. I'm making members of Akatsuki as Pokémon basically. No, the contest isn't to draw an Akatsukimon of mine. Actually, it doesn't even have to be Akatsuki. The goal of this contest is to pick a character from an anime or manga and turn them into a Pokémon!

If you're confused, go look over at my Akatsukimon pictures as an example. All you do is choose a REAL Pokémon and make them look like an anime/manga character of your choice.

Rules

- NO using my Akatsukimon designs! If you happen to want to do the same Akatsuki member and Pokémon by all means go ahead and do so, but DO NOT USE MY EXACT DESIGNS!

- Must be a full body image. No headshots please.

- Can be black and white or color (color makes things prettier though) ;3

- Any medium is fine. Digital, pencils, paint, sculpture, whatever.

- Make sure you use a REAL anime/manga character. NO OCs!

- The same goes for Pokémon! Please NO Fakemon!

- No stealing other people's artwork or ideas. I'll be looking around to see if any of this is going on so...don't steal! :3

- You must write an explanation as to why you chose the Pokémon-character combination in your artist's comments. Cause I feel like giving back to my watchers whom I kindly neglect half the time (ilu all?), I'll be working on a giant picture for the whole mass of you all (or at least most of you). From now until I get college applications done I won't be commenting on peoples deviations and possibley not journals (not like I really comment on journals or deviations anyway. I do try to but I end up going off and doing something else so now I won't even bother). I'll still look at deviations and fave stuff I like and read journals. I'll also still thank people for faves, comments on my stuff, and my journals (though this is probably the last journal for a while) but it will be slower than usual.
I'll also be putting up some more stuff I've had photgraphed recently (old and new drawings).

Neopets
Well I finally turned Noctivaygus into a draik so I'm pretty happy. I even got fanart of him this week from a random person x3
And go vote for Kyubimon02 in the BC this week if you're a neopets member. She's an elephants so....yeah just vote for her cause you know you'd end up voting for her anyway xP

School
Lots of work to do. It's annoying.

But there's another talent show coming up. I'm going to tryout with a friend of mine (we'll be singing a song from Wicked; either What is this feeling or Defying gravity). But we still haven't sung any of the songs together yet so we don't know how well our voices sound together for these songs so there's a possibility we won't sing together. No biggy for me. I planned on singing alone in the first place. But then I got this great idea of wanting to do the Hare Hare Yukai dance with people from our Anime Club for the show tryouts xD I'm leaning towards doing that more than singing a duet (I'd like to keep the 'Kim the comedic act person' going since that's what I'm apparently known as for those who saw me).

On the comedic act note, someone in the post office last weekend or whenever I was ther recognized me from the talent show. She said I should be a stand-up comedian xD Then I learned this week the lady that said that was the mother of a girl in Art honor Society with me (so that was weird). Then my mom asked if I would ever consider being a stand-up comic. I'm still not sure, but I'm actually considering maybe as a backup plan for money if I never get a real job I can do some really small-time stand-up stuff with my animal noises. Money for killing my voice. Yes. I'd so do that.

Too...much ...work @_#

Besides school work I also have college apps to get done. So...my ever-continuing excuse for why I don't comment, etc on stuff. I do look at everything, but commenting seems to much of a hassle right now plus I don't feel like adding useless 'looks good' comments of redundancy. -headache- >.>


Talent Show

My school's talent show was last night and it was uber funs. I was 7th up with my animal/T-Rex/Pokemon imitations. Someone wanted an encore of the T-Rex which I did and then at the end I asked if everyone wanted to hear T-Rex again which they did (big suprise x3). I should've done Jigglypuff's lullaby though. Can't believe I didn't do that >_>;
My cousins's (there's 2 of them...twiiiiiins) band was freaking awesome also. Specially when my cuz, Nick, was catching his drumsticks in midair and playing with the other hand at the same time. I was watching from the side door backstage with the other people doing the show so we didn't get to see what it all looked like from the front, but the back was probably better (seeing all the behind-the-scenes stuff).
And the Monty Python skit....god that was great >3 Some of the Drama guys put on the Self-Defence Against Fruit skit, 16-ton weight and all.
Then all the people singing...I only wish I could sing that well @_@
And our friend Erin (also the Homecoming Queen) made balloon animals while riding a unicycle. Someone please tell me what other homecoming queen can do that :3
Uh.....wow. I think that was it. I don't think there was anything else.
But after the show, people were asking for more of the T-Rex sound which, after doing that 3 times (I was asked like 5 times) my throat died. It's better now, but last night I thought I was going to lose my voice x.x


My devART Gallery

So. If you have noticed I transfered most of my gallery to my scraps (and deleted a few things, too). A lot of the stuff wasn't really gallery worthy anymore and I've been meaning to move most of the stuff to scraps anyway.
The 7 Deadly Dragons pictures: I have the Envy one in my gallery just as the 'quick link' to the other images in scraps.
Akatsukimon: I was going to put them into scraps and leave Kisachomp up, but decided against it.
I'm going to cut down on the amount of fanart I put into my gallery and put more original stuff up. I'm recreating a lot of animals/creatures I drew a while ago (some of which can be seen in my scraps) and making them more 'real-world-like'.

Cause like...I need art for the AP Art test at the end of the year that isn't fanart x3

So, I entered this digital art contest a little while ago. It was one of those famous artist hosted and judged ones and somehow along with 2 other people in my AP Art class we won or something.

The New York Times is gonna interview us.

I'm getting interviewed on this [link] piece o dragon.

I just wonder how the hell I still even became a finalist-winner-dude in this thing x3; So yeah. Huzzah huzzah for me.


Other Updates

My weekend has been busy as hell.

I wasn't even able to go out and get cookies for our school's anime club bake sale tomorrow like I wanted to ;-; Guess I'll just buy something from it during a period I'm not working to make up for that.

And projects. Holy poop the projects I've had this weekend. A Spanish project, a Psychology project, and an AP Art project. Then an APES Test (online tests = easy A) and a revision for an editorial in Writing for College.

And on Saturday I visited Fairfield U. for a few hours. So there's some more time down the drain. Except now I REALLLLLLY want to go to Fairfield. It's awesome there. Not one thing I hated.

Then today I worked on my Halloween costume (as all my watchers can see as I have spammed their inboxes to hell with pictures I took of myself). That took a good three hours.

Then I helped out at church with Trick-or-Treat Street. 2 more hours. And...I've just been doing stuff all weekend @_@ The only real free time I had was Saturday night when I decided to procrastinate for a bit on my Psych project and play Twilight Princess instead.

ohmygoshtwilightprincess. I beat it. And it was fuxing sad I tell thee! But I'm kind of disappointed now. The game seemed longer than any other Zelda game I've played (AKA all of them except Windwaker and the Oracle games cause those just sucked), but not long enough. I wish that there were like 10 more dungeons ;-; It was even sadder when I fought Zant and beat him in like literally 5 or less minutes when it took me about 10 minutes to beat the Fire-bear-Goron boss thing. Zant was....more like a mini boss than anything. And I beat like every knight then Ganondorf with the same repetitive more of the double roll-get behind your enemy-now slash up his back-move. That move makes my life so much easier.

So I decided to help and volunteer at the Hampton Film Festival yesterday (I was also suppossed to today, but I think the place I was helping at was closing up or something cause everyone was leaving at like 9 in the morning). But anyway, yesterday they had me sit at the merchandising table for a whole 20 minutes. They also forced me to go see a movie xD It wasn't getting a good turnout so two of us volunteers sitting around got free tickets to go see it. I ended up meeting up with someone from Media Arts Honor Society whose name I don't remember ( x3; ) but anyway...

We watched the world premiere of the film 'I Am An Animal' which is the story of Ingrid Newkirk AKA a co-founder of PETA. I saw a famous-like person D: It shocks me because just this past week I was thinking that I'd never even see someone from the higher up positions in the PETA world EVER. So yeah. That just was interesting. But the film was very well made. It didn't support or not support PETA, but instead focused mainly on Ingrid herself. And contrary to popular belief SHE IS NOT CRAZY/INSANE. She was actually quite funny during the Q & A session at the end. She broke/hurt her arm so someone asked what happened to her. She replied 'You should see what happened to Michael Vick' or something along the lines of that. But yeah, she doesn't go around forcing people to become vegitarians/vegans or anything, only encourages it and encourages people to try 'at least one non-meat meal once in their life' and to become more aware to things. A lot of the footage in the film almost made me cry it was so grusome. I don't exactly support PETA 100%, but I do recognize that it was established for a VERY good and sensible reason. Yes, the do have connections with the ALF and in the film Ingrid even said that if she had the guts she would burn down those animal testing facilities herself, but that shows the difference between PETA's ways and ALF's.
Also, Ingrid mentioned how stupid this one person's idea about there 'being a home for every animal' because in reality (and if you don't agree with this too you really need to come back into the real world) there ISN'T a home for EVERY animal. If there was we wouldn't have dogs and cats etc. in shelters and the such and then being put down after no one adopts them or whatever. Or something like that. You get the point.

The film airs on HBO November 22 I believe and should be On-Demand after that. I highly recommend you all to watch it unless you art faint or heart and can't stand the sight of blood or tortured animals. Otherwise, it gives the other side to the 'war against PETA' from the real PETA point of view.

And yes. They do euthinise (can't spell x3 ) animals. They care for the animals enough to do that. They had brought a dog to their animal vet people and found out it had absolutely no chance of survival (the dog had been living outside in the cold and hadn't been eating correctly). Putting it down was the only thing to do. Seriously, it's either let the animal suffer even more (you could literally see the pain in the dogs' eyes) or put it to sleep. And PETA is against animal suffering. So people really shouldn't be calling them hypocrits when they put down animals. They're only doing what they set out to do.

So, I tried out for the school talent show just for the heck of it.

I didn't expect to actually get in.
Which apparently I learned today that I did x3

I did my animal/Pokemon noises/imitations. So I guess during the actual talent show I can get someone to record me doing my act so I can finally show people this stupid little talent for imitating ducks, Pikachu, T-Rexes, etc. You'll all get a good laugh out of it :3

Just hit 7k. It's kind of weird to me though since like for example, this morning I had around 7043 pageviews and I look now to see 7144 within a few hours. I dunno, just seems wierd to me to have this sudden burst of pageviews.

Death Note

...it made me cry ;-; The third anime to ever make me cry (first being Chobits, second Elfen Lied). But it was different from Chobits or Elfen Lied which had like the whole 'lovey' relationship thing going on in the end. Death Note was more...bloody? Psychological? I think psychological. It was...interesting. And now I'm really sad about how it ended. *Won't spoil ending for those who don't know*
But now I want a Death Note of my own. So I'm gonna pull one together for kicks and carry it around >D

And I want the live action movie to come out subbed NAAAAHHHHOOOOOWWWWW Dx


But, now I have nothing to watch. Anyone want to give me some suggestions on anime to watch? I've already seen Death Note (duh), GNG/GDW, Tsubasa Chronicle (not too fond of it), Chobits, Elfen Lied, and I don't remember what else. I'll watch anything but cutsey, lubby-dubbey stuff with no real purpose (like Azumanga Daioh or Kodocha-whatever-it's-called, etc).
