You should watch it too. Watched it? Yes? Good, I'll continue. I think it looks a bit good, which is kind of annoying because I really wanted to be able to hate it, and I was convinced that Jake Gyllenhaal was going to be dreadful as the Prince (who has a name in this, they've called him Dastan), but he seems pretty good actually. But yeah, check it out. I actually have hope for it.

I think I might have lost interest a bit, even though I tried not to I just never had a chance to work on it for a while, and I can't be the only one who's left a pic for too long and found themselves unable to return to it. I don't really know if all that is right though. I still kinda want to do it, I just never seem to get around to it. It's confusing me a bit.

Maybe I will go back to it soon actually, I've sort of run out of ideas for now. Or maybe just run out of steam, since I've been on a bit of a roll, or at least as much of a roll as work allows, so I'm probably due a slump.

As always happens when I hit a drawing low though, my writing picks up. I had one of those fantastic moments writing SOS when several separate threads from different parts of the story all just come together beautifully. It's so great when it's been kicking your arse for ages and then it suddenly all just clicks into place.

That's all for now, methinks. Ta-ta.

So I'm fairly settled into the routine at work now, despite not yet having two weeks with the same shifts, which means I have more energy to draw and I know when I actually have time to draw. There's quite a lot of drawing getting done at the moment actually. I'm redoing the background on that Halloween pic, because it was so hatefully boring before. I wonder if I can knock that out all at once tomorrow, actually. Probably not.

I also have a pic of something that I don't want to tell you what it is for no real reason that's going quite well at the moment. Hopefully that'll be done before the week is out.

Did I mention I'd written an SOS short story? I probably did. I haven't forgotten about it, except, well, I've forgotten about it. Got caught up in other things I was working on, and having done much on it at all recently. I'll try and get on with that again. Maybe I'll even post a few shots from it at some point.

Which leads me neatly to SOS itself. I've been writing it in short bursts recently, which is better than nothing. I think Chapter 6 of Book One is ready to be typed up, and I've pretty much finished the rough plan of Chapter 7. Still need to flesh out the overall plot of Book One as well. I know near enough everything that's going to happen, it's just the details that need sorting out.

That's all I have for the moment, I think.
Journal time again.

SOS - Slooooow. Chapter VI is proving tricky. Also much of my creativity is going into drawing at the moment. I wish I had enough to do both, but what can you do? I've had an idea for an SOS short story, which I'm writing at the moment. Dunno when it'll be done, but it'll be good to have an actual finished SOS product to show.

Job - Don't talk to me about jobs.

Erm, pics - The one I've been working on for the last week or so is getting close to done. Expect it in a day or two, I think. I'll be doing sketches for my next one very soon.

After hearing it mentioned innumerable times as being very good, I've started reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series. It really is very good. I wasn't sure about the first book (I think it acts as a kind of prologue to the rest of the story), but by the powers, the others have lived up to the hype so far. It must have been a year or more since I last read a book that I simply couldn't put down. I read volumes II and III, a total of 930ish pages, in about nine days. I might have to go back to Waterstones and get the last three books while they're still in the three for two offer.

I think I might have to get myself a birthday present this year in the form of a DA subscription. The ads which are so blatantly placed right where they're going to annoy you have slowly worn my will away, and now I'm going to give this badly-arranged site £15 of my money just to make it all go away. Bastards.

Maybe I should start doing commissions or something, except I don't know how that would effect my jobseekers benefits

Well, it's been about a month again since my last journal, but there's nothing new really. I had a job interview, but nothing came of it unfortunately. There don't seem to be very many interesting jobs around at the moment.

SOS continues slowly as ever. I've got to a place now where I haven't written it again and again half a dozen times, so I'm kind of in unfamiliar ground, it's making things slow to plan.

My art block passed fairly quickly, the only reason I didn't submit anything sooner is because I was too busy with other things to work on pictures a lot. Also the pic I was working on took a while to do anyway. My next main one should take even longer, so don't expect any submissions for a while.

I think that's everything, except I won't be doing a thanks for 12,000 hits pic because it's been hardly any time since I did the 11k one, and if it carries on like this my gallery will have nothing but scantily clad pics of Jennifer I think I'm going to draw one of my other female characters for the next thank you pic anyway.

Oh yeah, I always forget something. I think it was actually a little overdue. I have ideas, but whenever I put pencil to paper it never seems to go right, and I can't summon the will to make it right. After a few days of trying to force it, I decided to just accept it.

Strangely enough, it hasn't affected my writing. If anything, I'm writing a little more, because my time isn't being taken up by drawing. This is actually also the furthest I've managed to get on SOS before changing my mind about something and having to start over, so yay That said, it's still not anywhere closed to finished. We're seriously looking at years before it's there. I should probably make an effort to spend an hour a day on it, or try and do one chapter a fortnight or something like that. That seems like a reasonable goal.

Also, if I hadn't mentioned it before, I'm job hunting. Turns out that there's actually quite a few web and graphic design companies around these parts, contrary to what everyone told me. I've applied to a few vacancies, apparently to no avail so far. Then I went on some course thing to improve my CV and stuff like that. Now I'm going to write speculatively to some of them.

I think that covers everything. More pics when my muse returns.

Seems like a while since I did a straightforward picture of Leo and Jennifer, so I'm doing one each for them. Hopefully I'll actually have something to submit before too long Actually I just remembered I have a couple of pics I did for my sister's birthday card that's been finished for ages, though I haven't submitted it yet because she'd probably see it and I don't want that yet. She'll be getting the card today or tomorrow though, so I'll submit the pics after that.

PS: The buzzing in my ear mentioned in the last journal finally vanished after about three days.

I'm back from the Coheed and Cambria gig. It rocked. Everyone got their mosh on, except my sister who took an elbow to the face, but is okay and tells me she had a good time regardless. After that, much shoving, crowd surfing, sweat, some falling over and I think I saw someone with blood on their face.

The bands. Circa Survive were pretty good. Fightstar were probably good, but I can't remember much because that was when the moshing started and I was too busy trying not to die. Madina Lake I have no idea about, because I was in need of water after Fightstar. I've seen them enough on TV anyway and don't care much for them. Coheed were, of course, awesome. The moshing was on again, but I think half of the crowd (myself included) were knackered from earlier, so it wasn't as mental as it could have been. Apparently they did a cover of an Iron Maiden song or something, but maybe I took a blow to the head because I really don't remember hearing them do any non-Coheed songs :S

It has been 17 hours now since the gig finished, and my ear is still buzzing.

Erm, what else?

Oh yeah, my 10,000th hit is getting closer.
First, the sad news. Heath Ledger died yesterday, apparently of some kind of overdose. Read the story here: [link]

This sucks hard. There aren't many actors I like (I'm indifferent to most of them), but he was one of them. Dunno about you guys, but I'm gonna miss him. I hope The Dark Knight is a really good send-off for him.

EDIT - Just found out that anti-gay religious nutjobs are planning to picket his funeral because of his role in Brokeback Mountain [link] .
Imaginary Friends Studio are doing something amazing, in my opinion. One of their number, *Artgerm, has a character named Pepper you may be aware of. They're planning to release an artbook featuring art of Pepper. Here's the good bit: it's open to ANYONE. This is a great opportunity to get your art noticed. At the very least it will be displayed on a high-profile deviantART page, and there is also the possibility of having your artwork printed in the book itself.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'll be submitting a piece for damn sure. All you have to do is create a picture of Pepper, or Pepper and her friend Wanda, and submit it to the IFX folks.

More information is available here: *PepperProject
This is going to be one of those times I have where there are too many pictures I want to do. I have a work in progress going on, that I posted the lineart of about two weeks ago. I also have an idea for some Vagrant Story fanart, and last night I remembered an old sketch I did that could be adapted for a section of SOS I'm a little bit stuck with. On top of that, there's the Pepper Project.
PS: I really wanted to put the Alzheimer's thing again as the obligatory memory loss joke, but decided it was probably bad taste, even though Pratchett himself is likely to joke about it at least a little Also I didn't want to upset anyone who knows anyone who suffers from Alzheimer's.

Excuse me, I submitted this accidentally without actually writing anything in it. Normal service will resume shortly.

---------

Hokay, so. Been a while since my last update, so I thought it was high time I regaled you with what's going on in my life, regardless of whether you care or not.

I've gone back to writing Song of Seirre, at long last. I've gone back to the beginning to rework it a little, since when I was last working on the script I was writing it as a normal comic, but now that I'm doing it as a Flash comic instead, I can do things a little differently. It's not going as fast as I would like, but that's nothing new. I'm aiming for a chapter a week, which means, though I don't know yet exactly how many chapters there will be, it's probably going to be something in the order of two years before I've finished writing it.

I don't think there'll be many submissions here for a while yet, not all because of SOS, but just because my ideas have dried up for now, and I don't feel like forcing myself to draw. I'm open to ideas though, if anyone has any

Also, I'm probably going to get a Playstation 3 very soon. Recent price drops and the release of more interesting games (ie, Assassin's Creed) is making the console very desirable to me. However, Sony have discontinued the 60GB version in Europe, for no obvious reason. British readers will probably know the baby manager from those loo roll adverts, I think he's in charge of Sony as well. They seem determined for this console not to sell well.

Oh yeah, I'm doing some volunteer work (I say I volunteered, it would be more accurate to say I was drafted in) at a small theatre, pointing lights at the stage. It's very confusing, I've never done it before. It's also quite fun though, and gets me out of the house most nights of the week

That's all for now, folks. Wrap up warm, winter is upon us.

PS. I still have no-one to come and see Coheed and Cambria with me in February

-----------

So I have a PS3 now. A 60GB one, probably one of the last few in the city, if not the country. I managed to get it at a very good price as well, since I bought it at the supermarket where my mum works to take advantage of her staff discount The deal was a 60GB PS3 with two games for £350. Take off the 10% discount, and I payed £315 for it. That's less than most of the 40GB deals there were in town, and a hell of a lot less than the 60GB deals there used to be in town.

The thing itself is awesome, despite weighing as much as a small child and generating more heat than all the other electrical appliances in the house put together. The graphics even look nice and sharp on my little portable TV that I have up in my room. The games I got with it are Assassin's Creed, which is all kinds of awesome, and Ridge Racer 7, about which I care so little I couldn't even remember I had it until I got around to taking out of the bag some hours after buying it (I had to be elsewhere that evening). I've not even taken it out of the wrapper, just gonna trade it in for something I do want.

Anyway, that's all for now, else I'm gonna be late for the theatre.

-----------

Hey again, folks. Just a little update to say I traded in Ridge Racer for Warhawk. My Playstation Network name is artful_scruff, if that matters to anyone. Maybe I'll see some of you online

----------

Yet another update

Alrighty, just ordered my tickets for the Coheed and Cambria gig in Leeds next year. The date and location of that event was more convenient than the Newcastle one for the people I'm going with.

I'm looking forward to it Also playing are Fightstar, Madina Lake, and Circa Survive. I'm also kinda looking forward to Fighstar, Circa seem okay from the one song I listened months ago, and Madina Lake don't really float my boat, but I'd definitely put up with them for a chance to see Coheed and Cambria

The reason I'm doing this is because I want to try more different things. As much as I love SOS, it's not the only thing I want to do. So here's a chance for you guys to give me something different to do, something I wouldn't think of myself. I don't want to do any of those things that this site has far too much of though.
Work has officially started on Song of Seirre, at long last I wish I could say when I could show you stuff from it, but I don't really want to post anything until it's finished. I'll probably be posting it a chapter at a time, and in the interest of actually getting it done I'm giving myself about a month per chapter, so I'll stick to that if I can

This means perhaps less SOS art in my gallery, which is kind of a good thing, but it will probably also mean less art in general. Probably what art I do submit will be non-SOS related though, which is good for me because I really need to do things other than SOS.

I think that's all I wanted to say really. Bye for now
I've about eight different ones for the first scene of SOS, but none have worked well with it It's looking like I'm gonna have to get the fruityloops demo and make my own, but I'm unsure about my ability to make good music, and I don't even know where I'd start making something that sounds how I want it to sound, mainly because I don't know how I want it to sound.

Also, for some reason, I'm really bored of the videogames I've got. Well, never mind 'for some reason', it's because I've played them all a million times. Except FFXII. Maybe I should play that again and do the secrets that I didn't do first time around. Some of them are stupid, there is no possible way to know about them unless you read it in a guide, and I have no idea how they found out about it.

Just, argh. Argh argh argh.

Argh.

Alrighty then folks, I need help/suggestions. Since I've decided Song of Seirre is going to be created in Flash, it's probably going to need some music. What I need to know is are there any good free music sites out there that you know of that I can use music from. I already had a look at one, royaltyfreemusic.com, and while it had good stuff, it was unbelievably expensive. Other ones I know of are sounddogs.com and flashkit.com, but in my experience those sites can be a bit shit.

Another possibility is if there is some music-making software available as a free download somewhere that I could use to make my own music. The downside of that is I know fuck all about music, so there's a good chance that anything I make will be a bit poo. Which leads me to my final option, and the one I think least likely to be answered, which is getting someone who knows what they're doing (and probably doesn't mind doing it for free) to do the music for me

GO GO GO!

PS. I know I said 'free' a lot there, but this is a personal project that I don't plan on making any money from. Money is horrible stuff anyway, if I could get by without it I'd be so happy.

I feel the need to tell people about the dAMN chatroom #WeLoveMusic. It's for general music discussion and stuff, and could probably be good if it got people in there.

(Tried to post thumbnails, but since I'm not a suscriber I can't have images in my journal).

Just thought of something else to say. I've pretty definitely decided to do Song of Seirre as a digital graphic novel, which is sort of part comic part Flash animation. Go on newgrounds.com and search for Broken Saints, or go on gametrailers.com and search for Metal Gear Solid digital graphic novel. That's the kind of thing I'm aiming for.

I really want you guys to see my characters actually in action. Don't know when I'll have something ready to show you though. I'll definitely want people to give feedback on it though, before it's finished, so if you might be up for that then just ask

EDIT - 13th July

Things like this are considered worthy of Daily Deviation status now? I'm not saying it's bad, but it's pretty damn far from awesome. And while I'm here, I may as well point out that damn near every time I bother to check out the dailies, there's a black and white photo of some girl with her boobs out. Again, I don't mean to belittle the person who took the picture or anything like that, but are tits and arses really the best this community can offer?

I realise I'm not in much of a position to complain about sexy pics, considering my most recent submission, but I'm not even going to try and pretend it's the pinnacle of artistic achievement.

P.S. It is actually for a college assignment, and one of the rules is "no Flash", which works for me since I hardly know any Flash. Also, some pages are still under construction or not there at all, but most of the main stuff is present.
It's only Tuesday (well, Wednesday), and my Easter holiday has unofficially begun, seeing as I won't be in college for the rest of the week, then the two week holiday officially begins. Of course, I have to use it to kick my final project's arse. If I don't, I am very much in Deep Shit. With capital letters and everything. If I could do it in here the words would probably be on fire as well.

Enough of that. I'm pretty sick of college work right now, and I'm going to use the next few days to catch up on the drawing and writing and other stuff I want to do. Here's a list of the pics I have in mind

To go with the one of Jen I did almost two weeks ago (far too long ago):
- Leo
- Ender
- Uriel
- Cait?

Because I want to:
- Varuna
- Main characters of "Dead"
- Main characters of "Sci-Fi Adventure" (working title)
- Beauty and the Beast (maybe)

Did I ever mention that I want to do a dark version of Beauty and the Beast? Well, quite dark. I talked to ~Naixoa about it, and she told me about a version she was taught at school that seemed to go beyond dark and into wrong. Maybe I'll see if my sis wants to collab on it, I think she thought a dark version of this would be cool too.

Hmm, need to write some more SOS too. Chapter 3 is nearing completion. Take note, people who've been reading it for me, you probably know who you are. Though the only one who gave actual crit has been off MSN for a while so she can work She's got better self-discipline than me, anyway

Finally (I think), I've started building my portfolio/CV website, which will be an actual live website that's properly online and everything. Are you excited? I am.

I'd like to finish with a quote, for no reason other than I'd like to finish with a quote.

"I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see."
-John Burroughs

P.S. I don't know who John Burroughs is. It's a good quote though. Fits how I've been feeling recently.

Final Fantasy XII is awesome, even if it is distracting me hugely from the ever more urgent college assignments. As you probably already know, it has instilled in me an urge to redesign my characters a little, as well as making me talk in a slighty medieval manner. I can't help saying "naught" instead of "nothing", for example.

Anyway, the character rejigs are going well. I hope to have some proper finished pics of them posted up. I've been thinking about some characters I have from another story idea, so I may draw them at some point too.

Really must get back into writing Song of Seirre. I haven't worked on it in weeks.

If you like your sci-fi books, go get Ringworld by Larry Niven if you haven't already. I was intrigued almost instantly, mostly by some interesting ideas about evolution. I'm only about halfway through it still, so no spoilers if you're going to talk about it, please

I think that is all I wanted to say. Just felt the need to update more than anything else. Agh, there I go with the medieval-ness again, saying "that is" instead of "that's". I wonder if it will ever leave my system?

Fare thee well

I reckon it's time for my vaguely-monthly journal update.

Not a great deal to tell. Still behind with my college work, and I still don't want to talk about that

Progress on Song of Seirre has slowed in the last few weeks, mainly due to the fact that a shitload of college deadlines came in at once. But Chapter 2 is finished, and I have people looking at it and Chapter 1 in order to give me critique. I've started planning Chapter 3, but I'm not sure how it ends yet, though I'm pretty sure I know where Chapter 4 starts. That probably makes no sense to you, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

As for drawings, I decided to practice some action pieces, and sketched four ideas in my sketchbook. One of them is nearing the end of the pencil stage, and even though it's not perfect I'm going to have to crack on and ink it soon else it may never get finished at all.

Anyway, it's 3.30pm, and that means I have to go put the chicken in the oven. Later all
-UPDATE-

My dissertation is handed in Now I just have the final project and a few smaller things to do. Also, Okami arrived in the post on Saturday, and threatened to distract me from my work entirely. Managed to resist until Sunday afternoon though.

I apologise for the lack of artings. I shall get inking very soon, I hope.

Finally, I'm considering opening a creature design competition. There'd be no physical prize, but the best designs, or at least the ones that inspire me most, will probably get to be in Song of Seirre. Does that sound good to you guys?

So the Decemberween holidays are almost up, and surprise surprise, I've done no college work. I may have to deal with some tutor's wrath soon.

Enough of that, let's talk about comics.

Song of Seirre is steaming ahead. Or at least it is compared to the speed it normally moves. Haven't got around to drawing any of it yet really, I think I want to get well ahead with the writing of it before that stage really.

I'm also developing a second idea, currently called Dead. I want it to have a bit more of a noir mystery thing going on, seeing as SOS will be mostly action, but it still has a fantasy setting. I've done some character sketches (annoyingly, the two main characters have ended up looking like Leo and Jennifer from SOS) and have some vague plot ideas floating around, but it hasn't come together yet. I'm not going to rush it though, my focus is on Seirre at the moment.

I've given up on the hundred picture challenge for now, because I want to concentrate on my comics, as you may have gathered.

That's all for now. Don't eat any yellow snow

I have just now finished writing chapter one of my comic

Now it'll just be forever until I get around to drawing it and writing the rest of the bloody thing Before that though, I think I may show chapter one to a few people and get some opinions. Oh yeah, the chapter needs a decent title too. All the ones I've had so far were a bit cheesemonger-ish.

Did I mention that I definitely settled on Song of Seirre as the title for the comic? It wasn't set in stone until I realised that the initials of the title were SOS, which you probably also know stands for Save Our Souls. Since saving souls is an important part of the comic, I thought it was quite fitting.

I formed a definite opinion of Coheed and Cambria too. They rock hard. I shall be getting their other albums at the first opportunity.

I got a pic started for 016 of the Challenge as well. Don't know if I'll finish it though, it's slightly complex and I don't feel like doing a complex picture at the moment.

That's all for now, unless you want me to start ranting about college, which I don't want to do. Laters
A.)You are in the challenge.
B.)What you have completed.

Just a generic update to show I'm still alive.

The bad deadlines for college have passed now, so I'm a bit more chilled. I should still be getting on with the work I have to do though

That's enough about college. A few days ago I signed up to last.fm in my latest effort to find more cool bands. Already discovered one band, called Coheed and Cambria. The site played me their song A Favor House Atlantic (possibly the weirdest song title I've ever heard) and I really liked it. As a result I went into town and found the album for a fiver. Can't go wrong for that money, really. I've yet to form a full opinion on it, most of the songs are pretty different to Favor House, but I don't hate it

I also picked up some more Biffy Clyro and Lacuna Coil while I was there. They were fairly cheap too

I have started work on number 15 of the Challenge, I shall be attempting another full-fledged background with this one. Not doing a background just bores me now. Dunno when it'll be done, hopefully quite soon.

Oh yeah, here is my last.fm page.

Thanks all for now. Goodbye and godspeed

Alrighty then, Photoshop is fixed and I am back in business. Hopefully 011 - Memory will be complete by the end of the week.

So what else am I doing at the moment?

Let's start with college. I have a dissertation to do, a large web project to start thinking about, plus a smaller web assignment. And I have no motivation for any of it.

Enough of that. I have far too many personal projects going on to worry about college I'm thinking about ideas for 012 - Insanity, a Halloween picture, and a 5000 pageviews picture. I may be open to suggestions on that last one, but I suspect only a few people read my journal, so I won't hold my breath.

The biggest of these projects is my comic, which I think I have settled on a name for: Song of Seirre (song in the sense of a saga, and Seirre, pronounced 'Serray', being the name of the world where the story mostly takes place). As ever, it is moving slowly forward. I've done well in not changing my mind about anything that requires a huge rethink of everything I have so far. There are some bits that still seem wrong though, so it's not all perfect.

I realised tonight that I have had ideas for four separate comics. Firstly, Song of Seirre, containing characters I have had in one form or another for many years now. Secondly, Firebrand, which watchers of mine will remember from a year or so ago. Or maybe it's longer, I forget. It was a comic presented in short episodes that made fun of fantasy movies and stuff. I still have one or two ideas knocking around for Firebrand, so it may suffer a revival someday. I promise nothing though.

Now for the ones I haven't mentioned here before, I think. I have ideas for sci-fi characters, which were a pair of couriers and a bounty hunter. I never really got a fully-formed story for those characters, but it was going to involve the couriers coming into possession of something that various other unsavoury characters want. There was probably going to be an element of comedy in this comic, perhaps in the style of Timesplitters or Red Dwarf.

Finally, there was an idea I just got tonight, mostly involving the afterlife. It's pretty far from fully-formed, what with only being a few hours old, but worth pursuing I think.

Anyway, enough boring you with the dregs of my mind. I just wanted to tell you that Photoshop is working again.

EDIT- Photoshop is not as working as I thought it was. I used to use ctrl+backspace and alt+backspace as shortcuts to fill a layer with colour, but now they don't work any more. I've found another way to do it, but it's going to annoy me that I can't do it with the shortcuts. If anyone thinks they might know why those shortcuts don't work any more, please tell me.

Actually, it seems that Photoshop doesn't like any shortcut that involves the ctrl button. This is really pissing me off. I've had a crap enough day already, and this is the kind of stupid little thing that is likely to push me over the edge.

EDIT (again)- The Photoshop problem isn't as bad as I anticipated. I don't use the shortcuts quite as much as I thought I did

So I'm back at college now. Kinda. I'm not sure when my first lesson is, I need to check my timetable. And get my finger out as far as work is concerned. Same old, really.

Sorry about the lack of artstuffs submitting recently. My Photoshop has packed in, so I can't colour in 011 of the below challenge Been contenting myself with sketching daevas instead. You won't get to see them though, I want to save my big baddies until they appear in my comic, which will be a few years at this rate But I am working on it.

Visited my sister (~atomicsmurf) in York today, she goes to college there now. We (me, my sister, my mum and my gran) went round the town. There's some excellent shops in York, and a blessed lack of chavs. How can you not love a city with a street called 'Whip-Ma-Womp-Ma Gate'? (100% true, I may post piccies to prove it).

Anyway, my favourite shop was something like Ottakar's, except they sold DVDs and CDs as well as books. There were so many books that I wanted there, including one I have not been able to get either at home or online. I got two of them, I may get the other books I was looking at on a later trip

There was another cool shop with lots of film-type merchandise and goodies in it, and me and my sister expressed interest in some pictures which were shots from a film put on canvas. As a result they have become our Christmas presents (no-one keeps these things secret in my family). So when I get it, I may post a picture of my rather snazzy Matrix Reloaded scene from the Burly Brawl triptych.

On the subject of purchases, The Killers' new album, Sam's Town, is awesome. Go get it.

------------

EDIT- Tagged, apparently. This means I have post six facts about me. Damned if I'm going to make a journal entry just for that though.

1- I have never shaved. Ever. And I have only recently begun to have a beard.

2- I think the world would be a much better place without all this technology.

3- I saw the comet Hale-Bopp when it last came close to Earth in 1997. This will not happen again until around about the year 4534. I hadn't even intended to see it, I only went outside, along with several other people on my street, to investigate a strange smell.

4- I am in the habit of growling.

5- My Terminator 2 DVD is signed by Robert Patrick, who played the T-1000.

6- I almost never get ill.

I must have my creative hat on or something. I have another pic on the go right now, which I'll be inking and probably starting to colour tomorrow. I'll probably post the pencils in the scraps shortly.

It's a shame this bout of activity isn't working on my comic. I've still only written up to page three, I just keep getting stuck on dialogue. Anything I put in just seems shit. And I can't decide on a look for my bad guy. I decided to change his appearance a while ago, after doing that pic of a daeva. I think I've decided on the shape of his face, and he needs a new haircut too. The annoying thing is that I had a really clear image of him in my head for a moment, then it faded and I can't recall exactly how it looked. I think his hair was something like Edward Elric's, except white (and the character has purple skin) and shorter, without the plait. It doesn't look very evil though, in the sketches I've done.

Ah well, I'll get there eventually. I hope.
--------

ZOMG TEH UPDATE!

I finally got past page 3 of my comic I also finished page 4, though it probably still needs refining. And I'm not sure where the whole thing's going exactly. But it's definitely going, which I guess is what counts.

Anyway, that's all. Just thought y'all might like to know I'd made some progress. I may be back with some sketchy test pages (see scraps for the page ones I've done so far), but I wouldn't hold your breath on that.
----------

'nother update.

I've got further on my comic. A little bit anyway.

It's got around to that stage again that I want to draw, and have ideas, but whenever I try a picture it doesn't really turn out how I want it. It's most annoying.

Despite this, I managed to turn out a sketch of the bad guy described above. It's here, if want to check it out.

You want to know something? A while back I was searching for ideas for alternate names for 'humans' (as a species), because I wanted something more interesting than 'humans' for my comic. I came across the name 'Hain' and it stuck. It stuck to the point that for weeks now I have been thinking of normal, everyday people in the real world as hains. Is that weird?
You must be sick of these updates by now. Especially as all I have is a new work in progress. Those with a fear of or allergy to scruffy pencils should stay away or get a friend to describe it to them or something.

He'd have been scarier if he wasn't like the bastard child of Ali G and Tim Westwood.

Anyway, on to the art. I have a few ideas knocking around at the moment, and nothing to do till October, so maybe I'll start submitting more often.
Got Advent Children on Saturday. I've watched it every day since then (mostly not my choice, I promise). It was weirder than I thought it was gonna be, and the story seemed unnecessarily jumbled. But other than that, and Cait Sith's accent in the English dub (and even in the subtitles when I watched it in Japanese, arrgh, WHY!?), it's pretty awesome. By far my favourite bit is when they're all throwing Cloud up at the Bahamut thing. So good

Enough of that. I'm pretty sure I mentioned a V for Vendetta pic in my last journal. That's died on its arse. I left it for a while and lost interest. Maybe I'll put what I did of it in my scraps at some point.

I also drew a picture of Aeris to go on the banner of a website I was doing for a college assignment, but since it looked, in my sister's words, "like Leo in drag", I didn't bother colouring it.

But never fear! I have a new idea for a picture, which I will finish. I hope. It's been ages since I finished something really worthwhile. I should probably be practicing new things too, but they never go right

Still trying to get this bloody comic written. Just can't make up my mind about stuff.

Hello chums. Just writing to let y'all know that I have ideas again. Some of you may already have seen the dragoon and Sargasso pics that I did mainly for the sake of doing something, they've been keeping me happy and distracted from the more important task of my college work.

Also, I went in the forums to get ideas for dealing with writer's block, since I've been trying to get on with writing my comic but it hasn't been going anywhere. Thanks to suggestions in the forum, I've made progress, so maybe you'll be hearing more about that soon. Probably not though

Finally, I have an idea for a more complex, if that's the right word, piece of work. Having been starved for reading material recently, and hearing about the original comic book version of V for Vendetta, I went out and bought it. It's rather good, and I may do some fanart of it. It's probably going to end up similar to my Casshern pic from a while back, but at least I'll be drawing

I think I'll be seeing the film V for Vendetta tomorrow night too, perhaps that will bring more inspiration my way.

Here's hoping. Bye for now

Been a while since my last entry, so here's a new one. Because I'm bored. I want to do something but it seems like I've reached another phase where ideas are thin on the ground. Also, my fingernails are too long, it's quite annoying. But you didn't really need to know that

Ah well. I'm going to go and get some scissors. After that, I'll see if any ideas present themselves. I'm at a point in college at the moment where a bunch of new modules have just started, so we get a little time where we don't have much in the way of assignments. I should probably make good use of this time.

I'll shut up for now. Hopefully next time I talk I'll have something worth saying.

I've hardly drawn anything for about two months, and now I have a week until I go back to college with various bits of work to do, and my inspiration chooses to come back now. Well, I say 'inspiration', the bit I'm working on now is hardly original, but at least I'm drawing something. After that I'm considering doing some Dune fanart, because I got the book for Christmas and it's got some really cool imagery and it seems a shame for it not to be actually visible Having said that, I probably won't be doing anything too complex.

So now it's the week before Christmas, and for the last few days I've had just about every minor ailment I can think of. Headache to start, followed by sore throat, and then I saw my dinner again. The next day I was better, but still headachey and sore throat. Yesterday I was pretty much fine, then late in the day my headache started to come back on, and now, the next day, it hasn't gone away again and I still have a sore throat and there's only one throat sweet thing left in the house

I hope I'm feeling better again by the weekend.

On the plus side, I've done a slightly crappy Christmas pic which I will hopefully colour and submit later today.

UPDATE- No pic because after writing this entry I got ill again and now I'm going to redo part of it when I can be bothered and I'm not too concerned about my assignments. Actually I just realised it'll have to be soon, or the Christmas theme will become unseasonal. Asshats.

Well it's been a month since the last journal, which means it's about time for a new one.

I promised some stuff last time around, and I haven't really delivered. I have finished the 3D car now (see my scraps), but it doesn't look much different to the last WIP I posted. I think now I'm going to wait until I have XSI at home then finish the car off properly.

I also said I was going to draw Leo. I did one of him wearing his SWAT-type cop stuff (before he becomes a demon hunter ) but I wasn't happy with it and gave up a bit.

But anyway, I've started another pic in an effort to do something where the characters aren't just standing there. Dunno when it'll be finished, but I'll post a work in progress shortly.

Oh yeah, couple other things. I thought I had my comic going again, but then it all ground to a halt again. Same shit, different day, methinks.

I've also been playing Urban Dead [link] , a pretty cool zombie apocalypse MMORPG. Play as a human survivor or hungry zombie

EDIT- I'm gonna cry. The pic I'm working on isn't going to plan. I was having trouble with Jennifer's pose, but when I seemed to get that sorted, Leo started going wrong

I started college again this week, having been off since July (at least). Despite warnings that this is the hardest year of the course, I'm quite enjoying being back I'll be required to do a 3D model of a car shortly, so expect to see that here when it's done. After that I have to model a character, which could be this guy [link] , which I think I'm looking forward to. I'll also have to animate him, though I have no idea how to submit 3D animations here, otherwise there'd be two on my page already.

In the non-college world, I plan to start a new picture of Ender today, something I said I'd do when I submitted that last one of Jennifer. I've also got the basic plot of the first part of a comic I plan to do, which will star Leo, Ender and Jennifer, among others. I'll start writing that soon before I change my mind again.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a pizza to eat.

Edit- I also feel some chibi-style nonsense coming on, so expect some of that soon too

Got me some ideas for pictures now. I've had no ideas for weeks and now I get three in one afternoon.

-During a random conversation an image of my baby sister arose that I found amusing, so I decided to draw it.
-September 19th was Talk Like A Pirate Day (yarr) so I might be doing something related to that.
-I got a pretty good image (good enought to start with anyway) of one of my characters today. Haven't drawn this character yet, at least not in this incarnation so that'll be fun

I also want to try soft shading. Again. Hopefully it'll go better this time. The other times I tried it I was never happy with it and went back to cell-shading.
My Ideas

-Casshern fanart. Got quite an ambitious idea for that, just need time to do it, and a decent picture of Casshern so I see what his bodysuit looks like.
-Band picture. I'm doing a picture of all my characters, as if they were in a band. Had the idea for ages, but keep getting distracted by other things.
-Posters. Saw some cool promotion-style posters in another deviant's gallery, and decided I should do something like that. So I'm planning that too.
-Comic. Currently early in the script stage. Working on that whenever I can

Assignments

-3D animations. Need to finish one by Friday 13th (adding sound and so on), and then I have to start another one.
-Short film. I need to do the titles and create a 3D UFO and possibly aliens too, by next Tuesday (17th of May).
-Drawing. Need three pieces for my Visual Literacy elective.

Maybe I should look into cloning myself.

Haven't submitted for a while (again), for two reasons. One, I'm working on my comic. I've done the general plotline, getting it straight in my head, and have started putting in the dialogue and planning the layout of the pages. This may take some time (the rough sequence of events takes up five sides of A4).

Second reason is college. Two of my three current assignments are quite demanding creatively, and I only have so much creativity to go around. Between that and the comic, I don't have much creativity to spare. I'll probably, hopefully, do a drawing at some point.

Do have an idea for a pic though, so hopefully I'll get around to doing that
