_{Through a series of very fortunate events, I was able to start up my old laptop long enough to transfer everything onto an external hard drive and then onto the new laptop! Still keeping the old one in case it can be fixed someday, though apparently it won't boot into anything other than Safe Mode without crashing, so it'll need a liiiittle more TLC than I anticipated. XD;

Went home for fall break, which meant doing lots of nothing as I got over my cold; however, I did get to see 9, for which I had been waiting quite some time now. I liked how some of the concepts from the original short made it into the film. Lots of neat little ideas they had. Also, Astro Boy this month! I've been more than a little apprehensive about it for the years that it's been in production, namely because it's ASTRO BOY Imagi is attempting to live up to, and also because I just didn't really like what they did with TMNT... :< I hope it does well, if only because they're tackling Gatchaman next... or should I say, Eagle Riders!

_{EDIT: It's 10am and I just finished my hour and a half lecture. **;;; I actually can't believe I stood in front of a class for so long without passing out, roffle.

SIGH. Long story short, I've been dealing with my laptop's power jack problems over the past year or so, and while I've weathered the random crashes relatively well, recently it's taken to shutting off after 10 minutes, then 5 seconds, and now it won't turn on at all. Sad as it is for me, I think this is the end of my dear Mephistopheles. It hasn't quite hit me yet that I've lost everything (transferred everything important from my old computer for fear that it would fail; oh, the irony); I'm either in denial or hoping that one day I will have the money and resources to extract everything from the hard drive. However, if I owe you art, please don't worry; I will get things done! I luckily have backups of my art programs, so once my new laptop gets in, I will be back to work asap. Ughughugh the prospects of a shiny new computer are exciting, but figuring out how to pay for it is making me rip my hair out; I already work two jobs...}}

_{I got to meet my pigeon today! 8D}

_{He was shrinking back in his cage when I first saw him, so I knew he was going to be a bit of trouble; because he was so aggressive, my prof actually went back and got cloth gloves, which I didn't end up using. He calmed down a LOT after some handling, so much so that my prof asked if I had switched pigeons, haha, so I think we shall be friends from now on. The hands in the photo belong to this guy:

ROFFLE I have had two classes with my partner before, and while we don't know each other at all, I find him utterly hilarious. First day of Behavior of Learning Pigeon Class he was stroking his freshly grown beard and offered it to my prof to do the same ("Just grab a handful, it feels awesome"). The general consensus is that he is perpetually stoned, but I have faith in him.

The little birdy is currently filed as 593, so of course I want to name him... Adam suggested a word in Arabic which apparently translates to "mini bitch," but I called him Little Buddy, and he likes the sound of that, too. Who knows! I had named my cockatiel Prettyboy (oh, the originality), so I might need some time to brainstorm for this little guy. XD;;;

Just FYI, we don't actually do anything to the pigeons, we just place them in Skinner boxes and attempt to modify their behavior. The rats for the Behavioral Neuroscience class do get drugged and then decapitated though... :c

School is starting now and I feel awful for not managing my summer better and not uploading anything major before this semi-hiatus, but I'm quite proud of cleaning up the 2000+ devs that had amassed over last semester. I have sooo many saved to comment on . Now, I'll be attempting to survive the Semester From Hell well enough to keep on track to a good graduate school. Eeep. To my future self and anyone else facing near-lethal amounts of stress: HANG IN THERE.

I drew lots of realistic and cartoon animals after that, and cartoon people, mostly Powerpuff girls, haha.

Came back last week from a mini trip to San Diego with some friends. The area around the hotel was totally sketch, but we had fun visiting nearby places like Old Town, Balboa Park, downtown, and some beaches. The San Diego Zoo was easily my favorite part of the trip! :D I fell in love with klipspringers; aren't they darling? Now I can no longer deny ever having been to California when people ask about my mysterious valleygirl dialect (I'm Latina and live near the East Coast; it tends to surprise people, haha).

Up - OhmygoodnessUp. I love when a movie's entire plot cannot be captured in a single trailer (I'm lookin' at you, Twilight). As always, Pixar delivered way more than what I had expected. I even cried, ahhh. And I totally want a baby Kevin for Christmas this year! *__*
Star Trek - Not as into sci fi as I used to be, but I thought the movie was very entertaining. Sat next to a lovely little biddy who squealed with me at the appearance of Nimoy and even recited the old intro narrative at the end. I've got to say that topped the time I laughed with this random old dude at Lou Ferrigno's cameo in The Incredible Hulk. Children are clearly overrated; old people rock. Plus ohmyholychristSIMONPEGG ahahahaha where did you come from!? I am a fool for this man.
Transformers 2 - Uhhh... Had high hopes for this one, big mistake on my part. The scene with Optimus, although familiar, still managed to make me feel as if my heart was being ripped from my chest. ;_; Only thing I can really recall liking, actually, but I guess you're bound to have a bit of trouble when your director thinks special effects can/should supersede acting. P.S. I still love you, Peter Cullen!

And then maybe Harry Potter and Ice Age. Ahhh summer is a good time for movies. :>

Oh my God, so glad to be back from hell what has been my worst semester thus far. Ugh. I've pretty much sold my soul for next semester (research assistant, writing tutor, teaching assistant...), but hopefully the extra work will force me to manage my time more wisely. "It's all for the resume!" has been the mantra that's kept my head above water so far, so I've got my fingers crossed that I will actually be accepted to a decent grad school. Only two more years to go... sometimes the thought excites me, but for the most part I'm just worried/scared, haha.

Anywho, I hope everyone has been doing better than I have! I'm really excited for the new season of So You Think You Can Dance which I follow as religiously as the rest of the nation follows Idol. Only one more day! <-- Haha, I love that little dude. I also saw Wolverine recently, which was chock full of fanservice, but I think I enjoyed it more than the other X-men movies. (I think I saw a Quicksilver! Yeee!) Up, Transformers, and The Princess and the Frog all coming out this year... And Astroboy next year, I think? Ahhh, so many movies, so little time. Speaking of time, holy crap, have I let my messages pile up! There are deviations from two Christmases ago! It'll take some time to sort through them all, but they're all so pretty that I would hate to just delete them all. *__* As for messages, sorry if the replies are total awkwardfests because they're so late... D:

Okies, back to research, trying to find a summer job, and finishing commissions, which are totally open because there are sooo many things to pay for now. -_-; The power jack on my baby laptop is fried, so that means lots of saving up to get it fixed -- if the motherboard is even reparable at this point -- but my kitty's baby's bills come first. He's licking himself bloody again, so it's back to the vet with him... I'm hoping it's just allergies and that the new cat litter I bought will help. I've been to three vets already and they...}

Zombies! I watched Quarantine just last Friday and, while I did expect it to be your average B movie, I just had to see it because it was a zombie flick (I can't get enough of them!). So, know any good/bad zombie movies? I haven't seen too many, just Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later, and 28 Weeks Later. So far on my to watch list I have Dead Alive and Night of the Living Dead. As you can see, I am in desperate need of recommendations! D: As for zombie comics, I'm reading The Walking Dead and High School of the Dead, not to mention a curious little zombie comic anthology I stumbled upon at Goodwill a few days ago. I haven't read too much zombie lit, though a few Google searches did bring up some interesting titles~ Either way, do share your zombie experiences with me. x)

Scary movies in general fascinate me (psychological thrillers are my absolute fave). For me, Poltergeist, both the first and second, scared the wits out of me as a kid whenever I watched them -- which was pretty much every day, before school happened. Even now, I shiver at the very mention of ghosts and cannot sleep with the closet door open. xD Fortunately, I've been completely desensitized to all other horror movies, so any titles you suggest, especially ones that scared you during your childhood (or new ones that scare you now!) would be quite welcome.

P.S. I hope everyone in the States voted today! :3

I just found out I am the youngest person in my graduating class. Hellz yeah.

Anyway, long time no see! I've amassed quite a pile of deviations to comment on, some of them dating as far back as last November... Must get on that. Despite my neglect, some nice people seem to have opened a fanclub for me. 8w8 Link to that at the end of my journal, even if I am completely and utterly undeserving of such a thing (I blushed so much when I found out! ).

Otakon was, like, months ago, but still tons of fun, so here are some photos!

Master Roshi - Omfg! This dude had a different outfit for every day, methinks. I was stunned when I first saw him, because he seriously looked like he jumped right out of the show. D8 My favorite cosplayer of the weekend.
Dragonball Z - AAAHHH. The nostalgia is overwhelming. These people are all levels of awesome.
Katamari Damacy - I heart this game series.
Freakazoid - I haven't seen this show in forever! :c
Candlejack - *immediately tied up*
Child cosplayers - Chilluns proving they can be good for something. I'm not sure who the boy is, but the girl's Hinata.
James and Victreebell - Team Rocket cosplayers aren't too rare, but I thought the Weepinbell was a creative touch that separated him from the rest. :B
Joker and Rorschach - Quite a few of these cosplayers, actually!

And, because I can't seem to stress myself out enough trying to find time for studying, working, socializing, and scribbling, here's a list of animated films I had myself watch:

Felidae - Housecat Francis attempts to solve the mystery behind the gruesome murders taking place in his new neighborhood. My favorite scene is the Mendel nightmare sequence.
Angel's Egg - A surrealistic masterpiece that conveys its meanings through music, artwork, and sparse dialogue. The story concerns the interaction between a young girl in charge of a mysterious egg and a soldier living in a dead city. Definitely a must-see. It's a love-or-hate film, though, so you'll either be bored stiff or completely amazed. I fall into the latter category.
Watership Down - A dark tale centering around a group of rabbits who leave their warren in search of a new home according to the vision of young Fiver. I just finished watching this yesterday, and it only got me more geared up to watch The Plague Dogs. I love John Hurt's voice. <3

AAAAAAAH. I saw it this morning. Me versus children for the golden front row center seat is a sad spectacle indeed, but I just knew I was going to be crazy about WALL-E. Turns out I've not been head-over-heels for this movie over the last several months for nothing; it totally replaced Happy Feet as my favorite CGI movie. I do have a little-known soft spot for robots (Short Circuit and Batteries Not Included, anyone?), but it's a fantastic movie by itself.

But WHY is the best merchandise only in Europe?
DS Lite Skin - my DS is far too plain as it is...
DS Lite Carrying Case - and of course I'll need a matching bag!
GLOW-IN-THE-DARK duvet cover - my down comforter is too big, but the fabric is soooo much cuter than the ones here...

Ah! I remember being scared to death about going to college, but now that my first year is over I'm happy that I can say it was a totally kick-ass experience. As we were packing up, more than one of us in the suite (myself included!) said we were ready to move back in, haha! I didn't pull any all-nighters or resort to energy drinks either semester, so my experience was less sleep deprived than some of my friends' -- the least I ever got was one hour, before my final term paper was due (writing this journal as a warning really didn't prevent anything XD). Still, I got to meet lots of new people, catch a boy toy, go on crazy adventures at ungodly hours of the night, and maintain my GPA all the while, haha. Yay!

As for movies, Speed Racer was way better than what I thought it would be; when it got the greenlight, I figured it would be this super cheesy kids film that I would appreciate only for nostalgic purposes. But no, even my mom enjoyed it, though she said the bright colors during the races hurt her eyes. X3; What I'm worried about now, though, is Imagi Animation's rendition of Astro Boy. I disliked TMNT very much, so here's hoping they really step it up for Astro Boy, which is legendary. ljbeljbvlq I've been hearing so much about Iron Man from all my friends, but I wasn't able to go with either group, once because of a party, and the other time because I had to work on an art project; soooo I hope I can see it soon. And Prince Caspian, just because. Aaaand Run Fatboy Run I saw a while ago, which I hear was going to be bad (apparently the humor was "Americanized," because that of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz was thought to be over our heads or something), but I thought the story was uber sweet, Simon Pegg was adorable, and I developed a new girl crush on India de Beaufort. Holy shit, some people are so pretty! *o* And and and Wall*E is probably gonna be my new favorite Pixar movie! I have a soft spot for robots (Short Circuit and Batteries Not Included, anyone?), and Wall*E resembles ET soooo I'm looking forward to it very much!

I managed to grab Mario Kart Wii and play it on my suitemate's Wii while I could, and while we all agreed that it cannot live up to the majesty that is Mario Kart 64, it's better than Double Dash, even though the automatic turbo boost, crazy last-to-first items (Bullet Bill = Anti-skill in our clever lexicon), and disadvantages for heavy players do suck. Still, I really like some of the tracks, especially Mushroom Gorge and the new Rainbow Road. It was always a last resort during multi-player, as I was the only one that was consistently decent on it. And by decent I mean I managed to keep my falls to a minimum of one per race. XD; It's hella hard.

Eeeps, almost a week at home and I'm still not done unpacking! [scuttles off]

While I love video games in general, I usually prefer those from the Nintendo 64 era and before, if only because they were with me growing up. I definitely appreciate the leaps in graphics and gameplay made in recent years, but that appreciation is a far cry from what I feel for games that I played before I could even read. So, when my SNES mysteriously broke down a few years ago, I was pretty devastated. Just today, as I gave up searching for a second N64 controller with with my brother and I could race (Mario Kart 64 was basically THE game at the suite shortly before Brawl came out, so I've become horribly re-addicted to it), I hooked up the SNES on a whim, though I knew it wouldn't work. But, lo and behold, the red light turned on! I was so crazy excited! The nostalgia was incredible. Amazing what a bunch of dusty old cartridges can do to a person! Life is totally not a barrel of laughs right now, but at least I saved a huge chunk of my childhood without having to shell out $50+! Now all I need is for my Atari to magically regrow its missing piece...

P.S. Nevertheless, Brawl is pretty kickass. (:

I guess it doesn't matter which one I believe in 'cause either way, I was 2 hours late for my final and got a summer internship because of it! XD Long story long and much more rational, I had my Psych final at 8:30, so I set my alarm for 7:30. My alarm, despite the fact that it worked perfectly at the same time the morning before, decides not to go off, so I wake up at effin 10:06. Needless to say, I'm freaking out; I throw on a hoody and sneakers and rush to the classroom. I know the final's noncumulative, so I can finish it in time if the prof will let me, but when I get to the classroom, it's locked and all the lights are off. XD;;; So I rush to the office, and luckily my prof is there. I'm practically in tears at this point and start apologizing profusely; meanwhile my prof just looks so amused and mellow about everything! XDD So he lets me take the test, I finish it in half an hour, and because he's already collected the tests from the secretary I just hand it in to him directly, instead of giving it to the secretary. HERE'S WHERE GOD COMES IN. He asks me what I'm doing over the holidays, this leads to where I live, and using the skate park I had just been coerced into visiting over Thanksgiving as a landmark, we find out that I live 10 minutes from the clinic he works at! XD So he's like, "If you want to do an internship there over the summer, I can get you in. *wink*" AHHH. I probably looked like a psycho, trying so hard not to grin from ear to ear. So yes. I is a happie pigeon. XD This would be in addition to the independent study I'm doing with him next semester, and then possibly a develomental psych project I might do for a conference next fall... I just hope none of this blows up in my face. XD;;; Like, the internship is probably just getting him coffee or whatever, 'cause honestly, I'm just a freshman, what the hell do I know about abnormal psych!? XD Ah well. I'm still really happy with this ridiculous turn of events. XDDD [dances]

Hmm, movies, movies! I watched Beowulf in 3-D with my bro and dad a while ago, but I had no idea that 3-D movies were redone in CGI, so I was sad that it wasn't really my Anthony Hopkins on the screen. The Mist} a while ago, which is my favorite movie of 2007, though more for its story and themes than its acting, direction, etc. Go see it! And then just this Friday the fam and I went to see I Am Legend, which I was slightly disappointed with, because the second half definitely doesn't live up to the first, in my humble opinion. I also really want to see Enchanted, but just for the animated bits, and I wanted to see The Golden Compass because NICOLE KIDMAN and all the controversy around it, but I watched the first five minutes and the main girl annoys the hell out of me, so no fantastical romp through talking polar bear worlds for me. ... has ended! Well, for me, at least. :3 Now I can gaze upon my pseudo-pr0nz anytime I want. It's probably the one good thing about being a legal adult! As well as my mom buying me a chocolate penguin the size of my hand... but I don't expect he'll be a part of my penguin collection for long. XD And although I had (another) 15 minute oral presentation today, it was rather amazing, plus I handed out my mom's cupcakes at the end - and everyone knows food makes any speech better! XD I even integrated the cupcakes into my topic, haha. Just one more oral presentation to go for tomorrow and then I'm free! Half of my finals are noncumulative, so I'm not too worried.

I hope all you happy people are enjoying the snow! It's the first real day of snow here; it's been snowing nonstop since this morning, so it's slowly accumulated to a few inches... my friends said I had some sort of crazy magic. :B

Halloween was so much fun *___* My friend and I dressed up as zombies for a party in town, and then I was Little Red Riding Hood for some parties here. I didn't get to trick-or-treat (God, can't even remember the last time I did ), but I and some of my suitemates handed out candy to the kids that trick-or-treated at the college.

As for college life, it's stressful at times, but still enjoyable. I attend a smallish, private liberal arts college, so it's basically just like high school for me. I love most of my classes, and the professors and students here are fun. I'm pretty shy, so I opted for Honors housing, as nerds don't make me feel uncomfortable (XD!); I'm even playing D&D with some of them! I'm going to turn into a pale kid XD (Recess, anyone?). The three other freshman girls in my suite are all conservative and Catholic (one of them even interprets Genesis/Revelations literally - I've never met anyone like that before!), so at first I felt like the black sheep, but things are better now. It's nice to meet new people here; I think it's funny how you can talk for a few seconds to a person and then he'll add you on Facebook xD However, my favorite thing of all has got to be high speed Internet! *___* After years of dealing with dial-up, I can now do anything I want (read: downloading manga and anime) at lightning speed! XD So far, I've finished reading Rurouni Kenshin and Tokyo Mew Mew. Now I'm watching Basilisk, Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou Tou (Dai Ni Maku), and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Speaking of which, Tokyo Majin's first ep is on this month's issue of Newtype! I hope that now it'll reach more people and become uber popular!

1. My first obsession was The Powerpuff Girls. I started watching it when it was still on Cartoon Cartoons. I'm pretty selective about what merchandise I buy (I won't buy anything just 'cause it's got a certain thing on it) but for tPPG... the last time I counted, I had over 100 pieces of merchandise xD;;; The DVD boxset is going on my letter to Santa C: And although I don't really like the newer eps, so I'm quite anxious about the new season xD;
2. My favorite song is Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult, followed by Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, but I feel that the song that represents me the most is Pelo Suelto by Gloria Trevis :B
3. I wear my sunglasses at night~... Okay, not really, I just really love the 80s. It's my favorite era in time! ^0^ I adore the music, fashion, and anime produced during that time. I was born in December of '89, so while it was a close call, I can still safely say I was born in the 80s! xD
5. My favorite word is "flesh," followed by "expunge," while I DESPISE the word "titties." I also dislike "attach," because of its spelling (why can't it be like catch, snatch, latch, and match!?), and the abbreviation of Sociology, because it sounds yucky.
6. MR. CLEAN IS MY BOYFRIEND ... Okay, not really :c But Anthony Hopkins is my future husband.

I'll be leaving for college in a few days, so I figured I'd better write a farewell entry while not in so bad of a mood. Freshmen orientation starts on the 22nd, and classes begin on the 27th, so I'm not quite sure how long I'll be away. I might pop in every once in a while as soon as I can connect Mephistopheles (my laptop) to the Internet, but I honestly have no idea when I'll be able upload anything. This really pisses me off, considering there are two wicked awesome contests I want to enter, both with deadlines quickly approaching TT_TT So, see you when I see you, and know that I'll miss you terribly in the meantime

Oh God. I would be so happy, so relieved; I wouldn't be carrying so much on my shoulders then. I would let my parents pay whatever debts they had, buy them a house closer to their jobs, get my mother that face lift she wants so she'll shut the fuck up about it, and probably invest, because we all know you need money to make money.

Ooh, Otakon was so much fun! ^^ I watched tons of anime, my favorites being Tokyo Majin, Devil May Cry, and Howl's Moving Castle I want to buy them all now, especially Tokyo Majin, haha! X3 I came back with over 20 new manga, so there goes pretty much all of my money xD People kept on asking me who I was cosplaying as XD;;; One guy even thought I was one of the unknown Akatsuki members, and I was like, "Um, no, this is just a really cute shirt from Deb ^^;" Picture time!

Watari - I never thought I'd see someone cosplay this version of Watari! I thought it was so creative I just feel bad for the guy because everyone stopped him to take his picture, so it took forever for him to get in line for the Masquerade xD;

Kon - This guy kept on getting stopped for pictures as well XD His costume was great and he was so sweet! I hope he found the hat he was looking for.

Shego - She's poifect! She's even got the green glow too X3

The Simpsons - I saw this and immediately had my brother take a picture XD I'm a huge fan of The Simpsons I can't wait for the movie tomorrow!

And how could I forget that delicious Q&A panel with STEVE BLUM?! *_______* Homg, I admire his voice acting work so much! He's been one of my favorite voice actors for years, so breathing the same air as him was such an honor XD Vic Mignogna was at the panel with him, and may I say that the two of them are sooo naughty! XDDD I was too shy to talk to them, though~ Maybe next time X3;

EIGHT FREE COLLEGE CREDITS FUCK YESSS!

I just recieved my results from the AP English Literature and Composition test today - and I got a 5! Oh my God, you cannot imagine how loud I was screaming when I read that! I've been anxiously awaiting my results since I took the test in May. Although English is my best class, the English AP test is still the hardest test available at my school, and I wasn't so confident about my performance, particularly the novel-based essay (which I decided to write on my least favorite of the books we read: Jane Eyre x_x). I had also fared poorly on the multiple choice practices beforehand and, when it came to that section on the test, I completed it in less than half the time alotted because I rush when I'm nervous. But oh God, the wait is over, and I've gotten a 5! *faint* For this I have to thank Mrs. Franko and Mr. Cooper (my 12th and 11th grade teachers, respectively), who are the most excellent English teachers that I have ever had I have truly been blessed with their tutelage, especially since Mr. Cooper began teaching 11th grade Honors English just before I took it, and since Mrs. Franko is retiring next year. I'll be e-mailing them later once I can translate my joy into nice, coherent sentences XD

Did Neil and Lauren's jazz routine on the recent So You Think You Can Dance fucking rock or what?! *watches over and over* TTATT

I also saw Harry Potter 5 today. I don't like the movies, but this one is my favorite, despite all of the significant elements that were cut (not that I can remember too many; my memories of the book are fuzzy at best). Imelda Staunton did an amazing job as Umbridge, and I got to see Snape's past, so that was lovely. I feel like he's going to die in the last book, simply because my favorite characters of anything always die D: What I'm incredibly pissed about is that I'll be missing the Harry Potter party at the Reader's Cafe this Saturday. It's held every time an HP book comes out and my friend had already reserved a place and book for me. I didn't realize this date was the same as Otakon until I saw it on a flyer today I'd love to go, but my parents have already paid for the hotel room and Otakon admission, so there's no way I'll be able to make it... still, there is rumor about a book after the seventh one, so I just might have another HP party to look forward to...

... and God's thumb! do I want to go to this! ;_;

Graduation was just last Friday! It was very hot, and the field had been stripped bare for reconstruction, so the actual ceremony was kind of horrible starting out. There was a thunderstorm watch that evening, so we skipped the alma mater and some other things so that all of the names could be read, and we finished just in time! These huge dark clouds rolled in, wind started to blow up a dust storm, and then thunder and lightning appeared towards the end xD Some of the families rushed inside, but it didn't start raining until about 10 minutes after we tossed our caps - definitely the most exciting part of the evening for me! Then the weather cleared up in time for the cruise around the Inner Harbor, which was tons of fun 83 Then the next day (or rather, the same day, seeing as how I came home at 5:30am XD;;;) my aunt held a cookout at her house for me. I received some wonderful graduation presents, including a laptop, a printer/scanner/copier, and a cell phone. I know my family worked hard to save up the money for those things, so I'm very grateful for that. High school was hell sometimes, but there were fun moments that I know I'll miss. I'll admit that I'm scared about going to college, but... I know I'll kick ass nevertheless :}

I like to talk about movies a lot XD I've recently seen Pan's Labyrinth, Spiderman 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, and Shaun of the Dead. I highly recommend seeing the first and last; both of them are now on my favorite movies list ^^ I'm also looking forward to seeing The Simpsons Movie, Transformers, Surf's Up, and Harry Potter 5 later on this summer. I really don't mind discussing any of those with you *___*
