School did in fact eat up a lot of my time and energy. But aside from that I simply haven't been very motivated. I like classical nudes, but I've in a way grown tired of them. I'm not interested in creating generic art nudes like the mass of this site. But it's hard to be original of course. How can one do something that has not been done in a some manner before? Taking an art history course teaches you exactly how unoriginal you are. You'll see that many of the great artists you look up to are unoriginal as well. It's unsettling.

To become great, you have to really step out of the box. Do something that no one before has ever thought of, and then have the nerve to defend it all the way through. It's here that I stumble upon a predicament. Politicians lie and sell themselves; and much of the modern art world has been built on the same principles. Stupid concepts that somehow earned the word "art;" like a man who is comparable to a chimp that somehow became a president for two terms. I'm sure every one of you has at one point stumbled upon something and thought "I could have done that when I was four," and yet it hangs in prestigious museums.

For a young artist, observing these travesties is discouraging. It would seem that in today's world, art has degraded to race of abnormality. It's not just about skill and ideas, but the absurd. So it's even harder for artists, who refuse to let go of their sanity to partake in this ludicrous game, to break into the art world. Finding a niche that provides an income is becoming difficult. Not to mention, being an artist nowadays has become very alluring, and so this is a field most competitive. Too much ambition. Being an "artist" these days is more like being a prep, or a goth. It's just another label that anyone can claim.

So what to do? Unfortunately there aren't too many choices. Either stick to it and pray, or get into a different field that will actually pay and keep this "art" on the side like a hobby. Because that's what it really is, isn't it.

Usage
My photos are not stock.
