I find this interesting. Kids in the UK have turned a high pitched "teen repellent" sound into a ringtone to use cellphones during class. Because adults can't hear the noise, the teacher is oblivious to what the students are doing.

Yesterday, I got some upgrades for my computer. I got an extra 512 MB of RAM, and a 200 gigabyte external hard drive. So my current specs are about 1 gig of RAM, and 280 gigs of hard drive space.

Today, I went to fish at my grandparents' land that they just bought. It's over 700 acres, with 3 ponds and loads of trails and woods (and with a house, of course). I love it so far, we might even get four-wheelers to ride on the trails

It looks basically like a black image, maybe one corner of the render. And it looks fine, and actually quite nice, on my monitor. Well, I googled gamma correction, since I've heard it had something to do with that. It means the ability to correctly display images on all kinds of monitors. And it also said that it could be corrected using Photoshop. It's under File> Preferences> Monitor Setup; I'll be trying to fix it when I get home tomorrow(we get monday off this week

) Hopefully, I can get it fixed so all of my deviations will look much better on your monitors

Ok, so I changed my gamma from 2.2 to 2.5, and now, like my friend's monitor, obscure looks black. I simply changed that by changing the levels of it in ps. Although, today, I began to have one major problem- Photoshop stopped working. Every time I start Photoshop, it stops and freezes right after loading the "global text resources" or whatever it was called. I've been trying to get it fixed, but on the uninstall for Photoshop, it doesn't have a repair option

. Also, the setup file is somehow missing from my disk. Another bad thing that happened today was that all of my bookmarks for Firefox disappeared. Now I have even forgotten the urls to some of my favorite sites.
But then again, I'm happy because I think I'm getting a Digital Rebel XT camera for Christmas

Finally I'll have something other than my camera that I think costs less than $100 as of now. And finally I might be able to take close-up pics of plants and textures without being limited by my camera's horrible quality.

And if you haven't already heard it, listen to "Only" by Nine Inch Nails. It's been my favorite song recently, and the music video is awesome.

Okay, folks. Here's the deal.

By now, you've heard that Scott Jarkoff, aka °jark, is now a FORMER Staff Member.

I'm not privy to the whys, wherefores, and whatever-the-hells are going on behind the scenes here. Don't ask me anything about that. I know probably just as much as you do.

DeviantArt, in my opinion, is becoming less about COMMUNITY and more about CORPORATION.

So what we need to do is bring back THE COMMUNITY.

Here's my suggestion.

On August 7th, DA turns five years old. Five years for a website like this should be a grand affair, one big event.

So don't submit anything on August 7th.

I'm talking a print, a deviation, a scrap...nothing.

Instead, just leave a comment. Visit a user's page and just say hi.

If someone wants to buy a subscription that day, I'm all in favor or it. It'll keep the servers going, and anything that keeps the hamster running is a good thing.

BUT...I think folks shouldn't buy any prints. No print subscriptions. That goes against the COMMUNITY theme for the day.

We want to put the COMMUNITY back into DA.

If you're in favor of this, if you believe in the power this COMMUNITY has, then join me. Post this in your own journal. Spread the word to everyone, with a

It'll be pretty hard to study for exams, considering I'm sick again...and almost for a week so far. Once again, I can't wait until summer. So much more time to improve skills and work on things. I'm also going to the beach for two weeks in a row in June(first week with my family, second with my friend's family). I think I'm going to Panama City and Seaside-both in Florida. You probably have never heard of those places, but I'm too lazy to explain them. Look them up if you really care. I'm also going to New York or San Francisco over the summer with my parents
