Looking at Summer Rain recently, I realized that it...doesn't look quite right at all? Weird how you don't notice these things for a long time. I want to change the style a little and get it looking nice. In the meantime, a "short" manga I came up with will be on the website. I say "short" because like everything else, it will probably take me a "long" time to finish. The fact is, I'm in college now and everything's like this. (And for those of you who still like FERAL: no worries, it's not dead!)

I will try and put up some images from my photography class and other such things as soon as I can.

Also, deviantArt's new skin deal doesn't exactly work on my computer. Not everything shows up where it should, and the result is this:
1.) I can't reply to your comments. But thank you very much for commenting.
2.) I can't see your deviations. I don't know why this is.
3.) It generally makes everything hard.

So you might not see a lot of me in the near future. I really don't know how to solve this problem aside from upgrading to OS X, and that's not going to happen just so I can access one website better. Although it would be nice, and it would mean that I could play Lugaru. But that's beside the point.

In the meantime, if you find yourself missing me, you can busy yourself by reading and reviewing at my fictionpress site (you don't have to be a member to review ) or visiting the new Summer Rain page and signing the guestbook. I might post another comic or two on here, but the story is going to continue on the new website, just like FERAL did. (Enough links for you?)

Graduation is soon, less than a month, and it's strange. This marks the end of high school. Time to sprout my proverbial wings and soar toward a horizon brilliant with success and careers and 2.3 children.

Cha, yeah. It may disappoint My Country Tis Of Thee, but I don't want any of that.

I'm going to major in mass communications with a concentration in photography. This is raw territory for me, and that's really why I'm looking forward to it. I want to become well-versed in a bunch of different things--not necessarily great at any of them--and then go places. Go to Africa and take pictures or make movies, go back to New Orleans and help them rebuild, because my passion lies in those areas. If I were strong enough, I would love to be a construction worker.

I'm going to keep writing poetry and making pictures and singing songs. I'm going to keep my hopes up about my very special boyfriend and getting myself out of the country to see God work in poverty, even though I don't want lots of money to work with or 2.3 children as a reward.

No one's ever going to guess what my avatar's from, so I suppose I'll flat out tell you. It's a symbol from an old, old Bungie game called "Marathon." Now this was not just any ordinary game, oh no, oh no. It was assuredly the best computer game ever made, aside from Pathways Into Darkness ([link] ...), and it was oh-so-Mac-friendly. The basic setup of the game is pretty similar to Halo, which Bungie made much more recently. It's a first person shooter in which you basically read terminals, obtain weaponry, and kill aliens. I'm still trying to beat the first Marathon game, to tell you the truth. I have all the levels downloaded, I just don't want to cheat. I want to do it right, you know. I've been trying since first grade or whenever we originally got the thing.

So anyway, every level in the first one had this super-tight background music. The second one ("Durandal") is pretty cool as well, but minus the music. There were probably some new weapons introduced in it and some new borgs and such. Then there was the last one ("Infinity") which I find to be impossibly hard and annoying, but impressive to own.

But back to the avatar. The symbol that you see hovering beside my username appears on all the Marathon's (the Marathon is a spaceship, by the way) terminals, and is also what you see as the icon you double-click to open all the games.

Secondly, I think the measures taken to prevent these images from being seen by the wrong crowd are hardly enough. Thumbnails are viewable regardless of whether or not there is a mature content label, and Daily Deviations don't refrain from featuring art of this kind more than rarely. Personally, I find little to no consolement in the presence of a mature content label: you have to scroll over the image to see it, anyway, so it's kind of pointless that it's there. If it was at the top instead of in the description, then maybe you'd have something.

The advertisements have been kind of excessive recently, as well. Yes, I'm sure it "sells" better when they add in some frontal nudity for the piranha-esque masses to devour, but it seems slightly unjust to those of us who come here, fully-clothed, to submit a piece of art once in a while and have a little fellowship with like-minded artists in a very innocent way. It disturbs me that pornography has become a justified business, both on the internet and in common society. But rather than duke it out with the big corporate dogs like all those millions who complain of having their rights encroached upon, I'd rather remain calm and concentrated, and if it comes to it maybe I'll have to search for a better environment in which to present my artwork. I don't particularly wish to leave deviantArt, but I know I don't have a case here and I'm certainly not tied down to a website that's going to keep disappointing me over and over again with some of its allowances.

Yeah, so I checked up on some of the forums and it looks like I'm not the first to bring up this issue. Apparently the advertisements (mainly Suicide Girls) have been complained about before, and the typical response is "Subscribe, no ads." Naturally that doesn't help those of us who are uneducated, unartistic minors who can't afford (or don't see any need for) this stuff for themselves. So this proverbial monkeywrench in the works further discourages me from taking up the issue of the MC labels, etc...but who knows, it might still be worth a try.

It still seems to me like dA needs to take responsibility for the broad range of age groups it allows on this site, or not allow them at all.

Paul once said to Timothy not to let people look down on him because of his age. But this isn't a first-century Christian facility, and I'm definitely not going to use that as defense material. (Except inside my head, wherein I will continually persevere to rely on such age-old advice, delight in its logic, and personally smile about it while the fist-shaking rants go on steadily outside.)

Thanks for your input to those of you who agreed at any degree. I stay at this site mainly because of all the other artists whom I've met, who comment, and whom I watch. Oooh baby, gonna see Return of the King again tomorrow. Go see that movie now. And listen to the soundtrack, because it is tight. The Shelob's Lair music freaks the crap out of me every time I hear it. Almost as classic as the old black rider music from Fellowship. I feel so nostalgic when I listen to the Fellowship tunes...aww. So timeless.

I'll be going to Alabama with my friend Eej next week, so don't expect a whole lot of my crap on here for a little while. I'm going to try my hand at some lame photography with my lame camera, so hopefully that will turn out well. Did some today. Will probably get it up here before next week.

Go see Return of the King. Oh, I got a new hat. It's a cool Britishlike golf-hat type thing. You know, like the ones everyone wears in Seabiscuit. Yeah. It is the foshizzle blizzle. Whoa-dizzle. I had a nightmare about school inwhich I hid behind a door and skipped class while attempting to help somebody escape. It was strangely frightening. And all my friends were like "Dude, you be skipping, what you at?" And I'm all "Whoa, what class are we in now?" I think I fell asleep while hiding behind the door or something. It was scary. Oh, well.

Whoo dude, The Two Towers Extended is awersome. Specially that Merry and Pippin scene in the end--*wriggles with delight*-- Oh, and there was a Return of the King special on Primetime last night, anyone else see it? I just about died when I saw the Pippin scenes, and he's all "you've seen Frodo and Sam!" to Faramir. And then that one where he's all "Merry!!!" Oh, man. I literally felt my heart shatter. *writhes with cringefulness*

Speaking of Faramir, I've been meaning to do a Faramir picture. I like how they did him in the movie and all, and David Wenham was very good, but he didn't seem quite like the nice gentle Faramir that I loved from the book. The Extended stuff cleared it up a little, but yeah, you can't beat the imagination. So go up to me and scream at me to do the Faramir picture if you get the chance.

So anyhow, I figure these here journals are for important sort of things like people you should visit and technical difficulties and troubleshooting help and whatnot. Okay, so I've got this burning question and I need an answer. Because of my lack of what you might call "savviness" in the internet shorthand world, I am befuddled as to why people of late have been using "teh" instead of "the". Maybe my mind is warped, but when you sound it out, neither of these sounds like the other. Is this simply an interminable typing mistake? Or is it another one of those newfangled webslang shorthanded terms (like "u" for "you", or "thx" for "thanks"? I mean dude, come on, TEH does not sound like THE. It looks to me like the majority of the English-speaking population can't even speak English anymore.
Sorry about that.
