Ok, so I got bored.

Last summer me and some friends were pissing about, trying to come up with a comedy domain name. We noticed that failsatlife.com was there, ripe for the picking!

So I picked it.

And then it sat there for 6 months doing nothing... Until this weekend.

I was talking to Alex, and I remembered I had the domain, I said I should make "alex.failsatlife.com" and have a comedy picture there. He wasn't impressed, but he said that he wanted that as his blog URL.

I realised 2006 was probably the worst year of my life.

Despite finishing University and passing my degree, everything else dwarfed it and made the whole year pretty damn lame.

I decided something today, I'm going to make 2007 the best year of my life to date.

My travelling ambitions are being realised slowly, the plans are coming together nicely.

I've already started talking to a couple of new people, well, one mainly. I have a handful of people left to meet from my online friends, and I fully intend to meet up with those who I haven't yet this year.

I thought it was about time I got my head around the dA CSS journal system, so threw this design together over breakfast. It's not much, but it's a start...

I've added a place to put a few thumbnails that caught my attention recently, and a place down the bottom to link to my loved ones.

It makes pretty heavy use of PNG transparency, so if you haven't had the sense to upgrade to Firefox, at least do yourself a favour and get the latest version of Internet Explorer, as they have finally added support for that. Make it happen!

In other news, I set up a savings account for my Asia trip, and have a bit of money in it already... I am so ready to get out of here. This country depresses me sometimes, everyone is a work-a-holic, something that I don't think I will ever be.

1. Re-do my website, and advertise in the paper with an aim to get freelance web design work. I need to earn as much money as I can between now and November. I figure I can charge 200 quid safely for a 10ish page simple brochure website and chug one of those out a week, providing I can get the work in.

2. Plan my Asia trip. I definately want to visit Thailand, Laos, Cambodia etc. but I want to plan exactly where I want to go. Mainly I figure I'm gonna spend my time travelling and dossing about, I just want to have a year of chilling out.

3. Talk to more people. I used to talk to dozens of people all over the world, mainly met through deviant art... I lost touch with all of those when I went to University. It's time to get back in touch with old friends and find some new ones while I'm at it. Contacts = Good.

That's about it, simple things, but I hope my trip will keep my focused enough to make it through this year with as little emo-ness as possible.

Game on guys (and gals), game on.

I would advise people who dont just go on aesthetics to change to iTunes, I prefer it a lot, amazing playlist controls... Functionality takes preference over skinnability this time!

And now, after so much time away from pixel art, I have returned! To fullfil the prophecy!!

I have started a lot of development work, creating elements, and then making the HTML aligning them correctly, you can see what I have come up with so far here:

Basically, what will happen is, you will download the plot (the link is below) - and then draw your own building, of any description, on that plot... staying within the markers in the template, and sticking to a similar scale (all scale information is in the PSD file below).

You can see the kind of thing I am aiming for here: [link] - This is what I have so far, in HTML form, using alignment and the images above.

So if you want to get involved, get creative!

[link] - The plot template! Please do not change the canvas size, it is all worked out, and keep the base of your plot within the pink bit in the template.
