I could go deep into what this painting means to me, but I wouldn't want to tarnish anyone's own, personal views. A great friend of mine wrote a companion piece to compliment it and I've decided that I will allow it to speak as one representation of my painting.

The Whisper of a Dying God

“God is dead,” Mr. Friedrich said,
just the instant
before he died.
And in the former case
the whole damn human race
was half-laughing
as they cried.

And Henry Louis came,
though not to
place the blame,
but to write a scathing
eulogy.

And in all our
stupid contempt
for truth, we all
seemed exempt
To the notion of the burden
of proof.

"Lambs will come," he said,
"And lambs will go."
I took him as wise
at the time.
But in retrospect
I think he was just
playing chess
with the black and white
squares in our minds.

So if God is the man,
then who is the lamb
laid out warm and dead
on the slab?
I would guess, my dear
that he's us.
But if we are the man
and God is the lamb
then in who on our money
shall we trust?

--

If anyone is interested in a more in-depth conversation of the ideals and perspectives inside this painting, along with my own thoughts - you can view my thread at MansonUSA.

Thanks for looking.

In Art,

Z

Hello to everyone who cares about my work enough to read this journal. I'm not big on these blog entries, but I wanted to make an announcement about my newest mixed media work that can be viewed below. Everyone please check it out, your comments are very appreciated.

The Persistence Of Longing
[link]

As far as other projects going on - I am in the midst of a few paintings, one that is done in the Mische Technique and has taken me months already due to other influences and a learning curve of the technique. It's still in progress, and I have another Francis Bacon inspired painting on the way as well. A few other goodies to come aside from these.

Thanks to everyone for the continued support.

Ok, so the job search isn't going very well. The whole experience thing is a real bitch. Everybody wants a designer with years experience... Well, how can I get experience when nobody will hire me?! Even though, I can walk all over these employed designers/artists I don't get hired because I'm right out of college with a BFA in Graphic Design.

What ever happened to employing the new creative wave of the future? Instead people just want boring designers with the same damn look on everything.

Excuse my belligerence... I'm just very bothered by the hell of starting out. Why can't people look PAST the experience, and see true talent? Got me.

So this is what I ask... If anybody has ANY freelance projects that need to be done, please contact me. I can do anything design oriented, websites, along with commissioned paintings, illustrations, etc. Please look through my gallery here and my graphic design work can be viewed on my website: [link]

I look forward to anything any of you might have to offer. Thanks to all!

So my new portfolio has been launched. All of the content is not entirely up, but I wanted to get it live a while. Some things that don't work as of yet are the larger versions of images, and the different layouts that will come up randomly at the entering of the site. Look for that sometime fairly soon. In any event, most of my design work nobody has seen, so enjoy that. Comments are appreciated.
