Some of you might have noticed my inactiveness lately. Some of you might think I'm dead. :iconimhorrifiedplz:

Well, you're not that far off the mark. A big, mean and nasty exam comes in 2 months from now, so it's stealing my soul in the process. Only thing good about this entire ordeal is that in 3 months I WILL BE FREE :iconspartaplz:

As of now, I've drawn zilch for the past 2 weeks. Nothing. Nada. Zero. Kosong. orz This isn't looking too good. :iconnotimpressedplz:

I've grown even more fond of my PSP though. Dissidia: Final Fantasy has this strange way of leeching all my non-existant free time. I THINK I'M IN LOVE WITH CLOUD AND ZIDANE AND THEIR SEXY MOVES. This rant may or may not have something to do with the fact that it's 1 am over here, I'm sleepy and seem to have workload that resembles a mini-mountain - but I am bored of my gallery.

Perhaps it's due to the fact that I actually drew them, and hence have the originals lying around everywhere; but the more I look at my work, the more unsatisfied I become. I've always felt this way about my own work, at it's probably what pushes me to make something better every time I pick up my pencils. But it really REALLY bugs me to see other deviant's galleries filled with the new and unexpected - in comparison, mine seems just so...dull. I suppose if I were to think this through when I'm fully awake I'd be able to reason out why I feel this way. I suppose it's BECAUSE I drew them that they seem dull, and that others have different ideas that they seem so much better-gah, brain's fried right now.

Plus, I seem to be easily artblock'd lately, and I hope it's due to exams - It would totally suck if it was a long-term thing.

Well, you're right about that part. But my exams don't go one forever and ever. In fact, I have only 4 months left before the big bad exam finaly arrives and smacks me in the face. And I do believe I'm getting exam tunnel vision. Like DO WELL OR DIE.

I'm no longer satisfied with what I can do. I'm not happy with what I draw. Oh, it's not that I don't have the inspiration, it's that I am not happy AT ALL with what comes out. Hence the lack of posts lately. I've got a whole pile of drawings, sketches and completed works that I am just not happy with. Sometimes I wonder if I'll feel better if I shred them or something.

I started to draw because I loved bright colors, and was hooked onto anime. Not any anime, but bright, happy anime. Not super SHIINNNYY DESSSU @w@ anime though,but more like Gundam SEED and Vandread. I didn't (and still don't) like darker anime, like Ghost In Shell, X, and Trigun...because in my eyes, they weren't pretty. Or bright. Or both.

Anyhoo, so I started drawing. And after a while, people started commenting how I only drew big-eyed, bright pictures. Well, I like big-ish (super huge ones scare me though) eyes, and bright colors, so I didn't think too much about it. But them someone told me that I had to stick my feet out of my bright and happy comfort zone if I ever wanted to improve.

So, I stuck a orange and black toe out of my little world and started exploring,bit by bit. Dark colors. Realism. Landscapes. Still life. and so on. I'm certainly no DaVinci, but I can safely say that I'm much better than that little 10 year old who liked drawing Pokemon.

Although I'd like to think that sticking my toes out of my comfort zone has helped me improve greatly (I think..? D8) there are days where I stare at a blank piece of printing paper and wonder why I'm doing what I'm doing.

I like drawing bright things. I draw, because I like to. It's not a career, and I don't earn a cent from it (quite the opposite lol). So why then, am I drawing something I don't like to draw?

But a little bit of my brain goes "Yeah, but you want to improve right?"

And I go back to drawing my chairs.

But I once read on the forums:
"If I only drew the things I liked, my gallery would be full of boobs and booze."

It's a huge circle. I want to draw shiny things. But my brain tells me to draw other non-shiny things to improve..so I can draw...better shiny things?

I need something to sink my teeth into for the next....couple of months, or at least until Squeenix stops being a turd and actually decides to release DISSIDIA, FFXIII AGITO and Kingdom Hearts early. It's almost March...Which means...I'MA GETTING OLD. I'm turning 19 on Sunday...whoopee.

ON THE PLUS SIDE:
I got myself an ass load of new color pencils for my birthday. Although I didn't manage to get a full set, (:icondrakarus:, No I did not get a smexy wooden case full of them...Q___Q), I managed to get half a set of Caran d'Ache Supracolors, and I'm dying to try them out. OH EXAMS, CURSE YOU.

Why half? Well...it seems that architects like to use red. And dark pink, and dark orange. So this means that both art stores in my area don't have ANY pink/red/orange. YES IT SUCKS BALLS. I've been here on dA for over a year, and I wanna thank all the deviants here who helped me, spazzed with me, and argued with me. It's thanks to the feedback YOU gave that I was able to improve and broaden my views on art..and especialy showing me that it's far better to give comments than it is to receive them. Hopefuly, I've been able to repay the great community by doing my little Tigera-part, if not, I'll just have to keep trying!!

I think I've improved somewhat after joining dA...and I couldn't have done it with out the constant support of everyone here on dA, so.. THANK YOU~!!!!! :heart: Every comment, every fav, every watch, every spam(lol) is really really appreciated!!

I have met many awesome people here on dA. The lengthy conversations on bitch-mentality, the random spazz, the pokemon lulz, the gaming talks, the art chats....It's a happy experience for me here on dA, and I'm hungry for more.

I wanna share the happiness. I wanna spread the lolz. I wanna know the awesome people who hit the "Watch this crazy deviant" button on the top right of my page. I wanna know you.

I've tried randomly visiting friends from time to time, (and I've met so many great buddies that way) but I do think it's rather slow. I still like doing it though, but I thought a journal-plea might be more effective.

-The history of my art?-

Hmm...Let's see....

It all began a long long time ago, before anime was so wildly popular, before Narutards took over the world, and before this weird Japanese-craze started.

I was 9, and I discovered Pokemon. And I freaking LOVED it. So one thing led to another during the initial Pokemon fetish (This was around 1999?) and I was soon the proud owner of a Chinese version of the manga, the Electric tales of Pikachu. (I still have it, btw, in very good condition)

And once I saw manga, I loved it.
There was this very cool picture of Ash, Gary, and Ritchie in front, and I really, REALLY liked it.

So I tried to copy it. Not trace. Copy.

And that was when I realised that I could copy nearly any anime picture I saw, as long as I had refrence. -I LEVELED UP!!!!! 8DD-

So Pokemon went to Digimon. And by then, I was hooked to manga, I couldn't get enough.

Then, when I was 11 or 12, my parents cut our subscription to Cartoon Network so I wouldn't be "distracted" from my schoolwork and exams. So I watched AXN, which at that point, aired anime from 5 30 to 8 30 every evening.

I lived off a diet of Fushigi Yugi, Vandred, Grander Musashi, Samurai X....And that was a time anime wasn't so well known. It was nothing short of imposible to get DVD's (or rather, VCD's back then) and anime soundtracks were unheard of. Youtube? Hah, didn't exist then, buddy.

So I could draw anime. So no-one else could (I met my Princess a little later, then we became best buddies~ :heart:) Since I could draw something no one else could do, I was happy.

Then, when I was 14 or 15, exam fever began to kick in. I simply had no time for anime/drawing, so I hibernated for a bit. Enjoyed online gaming. (Excellent experience for weaponry and equipment. 8D)

Then, when I woke up from my hibernation, Naruto had taken over the world, and my own kid brother was a Yu-Gi-Oh slave. Pirated anime from china cost only RM3 for dvd with around 24 episodes (RM3 = less than one US dollar, seriously.) and youtube was blowing all copyright laws apart. And anime music downloads were at a click of a mouse.

I do believe I joined dA a little while after that, after a new girl joined our class (she was a die hard otaku) and my Princess and I, (after years of living as unchallenged anime artists, we had totally different styles, so we got along very well) felt...well, threatened. So we both decided to brush up our skills a tad.

Honestly, my skills remained stagnant for plenty a year, simply because I had no competition. Looking back, it was the worst thing ever. If you have no competition, you'll think you're god, and you wont care to improve.

I only truly improved after joining dA, and opening my world a little to all the awesome artists out there. I believe that with every stroke I draw, every time I color, every new idea I get, I'll get experience points, and level up, so I can equip more godly pencils. 8D

I am an manga style artist, and have always been so for nearly 10 years now. And I am PROUD to be a manga artist. I am not a Narutard. I am not just another anime artist who does fanart for pageviews.

Drawing this is just a hobby. Real-life anime artists and fan-art artists aren't in demand (AT ALL) in the market, so I doubt I'd ever go profesional. I do want to learn some realism, and perhaps some more modern forms of art? Being able to draw anything I see excites me...perhaps after my exams though...

I strive to get better everytime my pencil touches my drawing paper. I want to be able to show others what I see in my mind.

I want to get better.

I personally try to give honest comments on the works I see, but most of the time, I end up not saying anything because usually:

1. That deviant is indeed far superior.
2. They already have like a million comments that sound like " ZOMG THATS SO CUTE!!!!"
3. My opinion is based on "style", which obviously differs among deviants.
4. I can't say anything, because I'm outta my depth. :iconemperpep: is a wonderful example, he's really awesome with traditional media.

-I make an exception for :iconm-lin: and :iconmgx0: 'cause I just like seeing their replies on how they deny that they're totally awesome, when they obviously are. 8DDDD-

So I'm really at a loss now. Should I join the legion of deviants who leave short comments, or should I continue stalking, and say nothing at all?

Do you feel happy when someone drops a short appreciative comment?

I am happy in a totally evil way because someone I know didn't get it and is now sulking.
I am pissed cos this means the chances I'm gonna be in the same class as him has now skyrocketed to 80%.

As of which, school is starting tomorrow, and the pre-U levels in my country are no joke. I'm gonna be only sub-active as of now...which means that I'll only check on everything once or twice a week, perhaps less.

Thx for all the comments everyone~~ ^.^ I'm also open to critisism, cos I believe only though critisism can people improve... You, know, that feeling of pure insane rage when others call your drawing crap. That irrational rage is great for improving yourself, but it does hell for your blood pressure. XD ..I kinda found this out when I met a person I simply could not please. No matter how I tried. (Even now he wont admit that I got better. =.= blearg) But thanks to him, I never stopped trying. (So would you if some one said that the legs you drew looked fat. No matter how true XD)
