after a bit of boredom I decided to have a quick catch-up on all my old friends and tell you all where im at.

Sarah and I had a daughter in February, whom we named "Sadie Elizabeth Blundell" and she is a little monster.

I;ve picked up an apprenticeship working for a telecommunications company, this suits me as its handson, outside and a bit of a challenge on the old noggen.

Im still painting and drawing as much as possible, unfortionatly not much of it is finding its way onto the internet - but I promise i'll try to get some stuff up.

Thanks for all of the comments I've received although I promised not to use this community again (its way to alluring) and i'll be sure to chat to some of you whenever I chat to some of you.

My life was divided up into trying to score, living on the internet (primarily here) and saving up for things I really didn't need.

I enjoyed brief popularity with several pictures gaining Daily Deviations, I Meet great people, like Dan, Macey and Sasha.

Eventually somehow, I got sick of what the community here had become and decided (like many of my friends before me) that I would leave, focus more on actually creating then using the site.

For some reason I missed the place.

Then I decided to give the community another chance, I even purchased a lengthy subscription... but for some reason this place just hasn't sat right since I've come back.

I no longer feel the need to use dA, and shall not be posting any more of my work here, opting to use flickR for photography, and my own blog's gallery or my own work.

Further more I'll slowly be taking the bulk of my work down from the site over the next few months coming up to February 2009 (the end of my subscription) you'll be able to find it all on my blog site at some point.

]]> ~propagandhi Letter to the editor http://propagandhi.deviantart.com/journal/17947155/ http://propagandhi.deviantart.com/journal/17947155/ Sun, 20 Apr 2008 15:52:57 PDT Regarding Nuclear Energy: No. To the people who are jumping on the nuclear equals green bandwagon, while it is indeed less pollutive than say, Huntly, itâs a simple matter of economics, future technologies and alternative mentalities.

New Zealand has 4.26 million people in an area of approx 268,680 km sq. It is an isolated island nation, astride the Pacific âring of fire.â The closest comparative country, also on the ring of fire, is Japan. Japan has a population of over 127 million in an area of approx 377,873 km sq. The other island nation to compare to, the United Kingdom, has nearly 61 million people within approx 244,820 km sq.

Japan and the UK can justify nuclear energy via supply and demand: In terms of density, Japan has 339 people per sq km, the UK has 246. We have around 15 per sq km. Nuclear energy, while great on paper, is simply uneconomical for NZ at this point in time. There is basically no realistic return on investment, and should a plant proposal get through the red tape of resource consents etc, no-one in their right mind would fund such a venture.

And as for those blithering on about âwhat about another Chernobyl?!â, look, Chernobyl was a rushed plant based on a flawed design over 20 years ago. It was Soviet corner-cutting at its worst, and even though it was built in the Generation II era, it was by design no better than a Generation I reactor. Weâre up to Generation IV designs now, including designs that will do nothing at all when void of coolant. Youâre simply more likely to be hit by bird droppings while in the middle of an air traffic accident during a solar eclipse than you are to experience another Chernobyl in your lifetime.

The main concern with Nuclear is the insistence that it has to be Uranium based. Uranium has limited reserves, of which only 0.7% of (natural) reserves can be used. However it remains popular because of the existing technologies/infrastructure and that it generates the most weapons grade material. Basically, any investment in Uranium based technology is a wasted investment, because like oil it is a dead-end resource.

Thorium, on the other hand, is much safer and has reserves to last us several hundreds, if not thousands of years. It is more efficient, can burn conventional nuclear waste, generates less waste, the waste it does generate has a half-life measured in dozens of years instead of hundreds/thousands, and it produces considerably less weapons grade material. Thorium is the answer to that (George Dubya voice) âIran + Nukular = Terrismâ non-issue that we in the West are being ignorantly force-fed. And to top it off Australia has the largest Thorium reserves in the world, followed by India, making it the most suitable Nuclear technology for NZ should it ever become economically and politically desirable for us.

But itâs all for nothing, really. The latest estimates from MIT is that if current funding continues, weâll have commercial-grade fusion reactors within 30 years. Fusion is infinately safer and less wasteful, and any radioactive leftover from the process has a significantly lower half-life than present fission technologies.

The only real way forward in the meantime, though, is to do away with the silly notion that all electricity absolutely must be generated centrally. If we all had some combination of insulated homes, energy-efficient appliances, hybrid solar lighting, solar hot water panels, and small 1-2kWh cowl-style wind turbines, our dependance on our aging and inefficient national grid would collectively decrease.

Imagine; no more moaning in the middle of winter about lake levels, if only weâd all do our part, starting with the government retrofitting all state buildings and offering subsidies to people on their âWelcome Homeâ first home loan package.

The business model of the electricty industry would change - youâd basically augment your at-home-generated energy with units from a conventional provider. It would be possible under the right conditions for even a city council to generate and supply electricity, maybe finally giving us the competition that we were promised all those years ago when the industry was shaken up. Decentralisation is the key.

We have the technology now, we just lack the mentality and political motivation. And without either weâre not going to innovate, weâre not going to apply our #8 Wire ingenuity, weâre not going to go anywhere. Weâll stay stuck here in our anti-progressive public bickering session.

The fact remains though: For every wind turbine you protest, a little Huntly keeps polluting.

1. They were cheap ($110 down from $180 odd) black leather skateshoes, that I can wear to work, in town and around the place as I wish.
2. Because, unlike some of the chain stores in the mall, it was a more personal experience, I walked into the shop and the first thing the guy behind the counter said was "hows ya day going" it may be a sales pitch, sure hes about making the coin, but the fact he actually made an effort to talk to the customer made him the sale, he knew what he was talking about and I'm glad i got my shoes.
3. Its local, if theres one thing I've tried to point out, wither its my flagrant talking about Manual Magazine, my love of our fair city etc etc it's that looking after ourselves first and foremost is good for us... eeer does that make any sense? Just support local businesses, so they don't go under, so they can continue to look after locals (in this case with skate teams, and supporting local events)

I then went on to buy a new knife from Nick, at house of knives, originally wanting the mit Kullenschliff 8" with hollow edges by wusthof, I ended up only getting an 8" Kochmesser, forged, from the Le Cordon Bleu range of Wusthof knives.

Very happy with its performance so far, but will get back to talking about it after its had some more use.

In a fiery blog, New Zealand Society of Authors former national president Gordon McLauchlan argued more notice should be taken of demographics when deciding where to site our cultural institutions and spend NZÂs cultural budget.

ÂEven though the population of the country is shifting north at an accelerating rate, Wellington exerts control on every area of New Zealand cultural life by controlling the national cultural infrastructure ÂÂ

And a number of Aucklanders agree. Former Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra publicity manager Tony Waring believes capital bureaucrats are unaware of AucklandÂs diverse cultural life.

ÂThe more this goes on, the more the bureaucrats convince themselves that Wellington is this cultural capital when, in fact, it is propped up by a disproportionate amount of public money going there.Â

The Auckland War Memorial Museum, he says, receives virtually no operational funding, while its capital counterpart, Te Papa, scores millions a year from the Government.

Aucklanders are asked to pay to visit their museum; Te Papa is free.

AucklandÂs Philharmonia Orchestra often finds itself playing second fiddle to the Wellington-based New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, says APO board chairwoman Rosanne Meo. APO figures show it earns $2.56 million a year in government funding - barely a fifth of the NZSOÂs $12.34 million.

The NZSO visits Auckland about six times yearly, playing about 12 concerts. The APO plays about 40 mainstage concerts a year in Auckland, she says.

ÂWe would love to have their mandate, we would love to have the funding to at least be able to tour in the Auckland region,Â Ms Meo says.

Author C.K. Stead also reckons too much of the pie goes to Wellington. ÂI do think there is a disproportionate amount of funding going to Wellington, both through Creative NZ and also through specific things that are located in Wellington when, possibly, thereÂs no great justification for them to remain.Â

The NZSO is one example, and there is Âno justificationÂ for Te PapaÂs Wellington location, or the Âhuge disproportion of fundsÂ allocated to it.

Auckland City Council arts, culture and recreation chairman Greg Moyle said Auckland is Âdesperately short of theatres. It seems only fair that some funding should come out of the central pot to help fund these sorts of infrastructure facilities that we would expect to find in a world-class city like Auckland.Â

Auckland City Mayor John Banks said there was Âmuch inequityÂ between Wellington and Auckland.

It was unfair that Auckland City ratepayers alone funded AucklandÂs art culture and the Regional Amenities Bill would hopefully fix that.

The bill seeks a compulsory levy on ratepayers for arts, culture, rescue services and the zoo that will push up rates by up to 2 per cent.

But Mr Banks stopped short of criticising the Government for spending more on Wellington and said the council was grateful for the art gallery donation.

In Wellington, there is a different opinion of arts funding distribution between the two centres.

Ministry of Culture and Heritage communications manager Sarah Tebbs - a Wellingtonian - says it is Âbasic Government policyÂ that Te Papa is the national museum of New Zealand and therefore gets funding.

Population-based arguments had been made in the past, and would be in the future, but there were certain ÂsynergiesÂ between central government and the national institutions.

Though Auckland Museum receives no regular government funding, it had received more than $40 million in redevelopment money since the mid-1990s.

Creative NZ chief executive Stephen Wainwright - also a Wellingtonian - says though he can understand AucklandersÂ perceptions, just because there are more people in a city does not mean there are more artists. Though Creative NZ is Wellington-based, it has offices in Auckland, he said.

Many institutions make a conscious decision where to be based, and while the NZSO is in Wellington, Auckland is home to NZ Opera.

Creative NZ supported both the Auckland Theatre Company and Watershed Theatre, but pulled funding after the Watershed disappeared in the mid-90s. ÂYou canÂt fund something that doesnÂt exist.Â

A spokeswoman for Prime Minister Helen Clark, who is also the Minister for Culture and Heritage, said the NZSO, the Royal NZ Ballet and Te Papa were all ÂnationalÂ institutions.

Basically Audioscrobbler is a plug in for your media player of choice which compiles an up to date list of what you've been listning too, at the same time last.fm is a growing community, where you can meet like minded people.

_RadicalPuppy and ^Jark can be found there, at the same time you can join groups, and the groups playlist will be updated, think of it this way dA's audioscrobbler group has 728 members this week the charts show that Coldplay is the most popular band for users at dA followed closely by Radiohead.

In anycase, theres heaps of things you can do at audioscrobbler, download it soon. One last thing, last time I plugged this I mentioned that it conflicted with aMip, after retesting aMip in dAmn #Hell with audioscrobbler on I found that this isnt the case, I dont know why my last copy of aMip done that, but theyre fine together. Im off to Weltec in a few months, to start another three - four years of study, in Art / Design.

After Graduation last night basically the whole 7th form went to cleos house, It was a great reminder of what a great year group im in, pretty much all of us got along great this year even with our differnce in opinion, musical taste, race etc etc.
Some of the girls started crying it was hard to keep it all in, there was lots of hugging and comforting by the end of the night, I dont remember too much actually, except we sang alot, and when MC Hammer came on Jase was the mac 10

Anyways guy fawkes tonight, going to blow up some fireworks, drink a little
Then Pubs on saturday night (hopefully) , Tonkins place (beach party) this wensday yadda yadda yadda

I went to Mike M's place last night (Mikes flat is a fucken palace compared to every flat ive been to in welly, arsehole rich palmy boys huh lol) with Straton and Mikey D.

Drank heaps, played on the roof, danced, then decided to go to the pubs, done that danced more, enjoyed the eye candy you know all that.

Anyways at 3 in the morning we finally all went back to the flat.

I Coma'd at this point.

When I wake up someone called me one eyebrow man, I look in the mirror and my fucken eyebrow is gone, NO SHIT, and the perp has fucken run off (rowan you are a dead cunt) well driven off actually.

We found out that they knocked down a road sign at about 4 - 5 in the morning and tried to drag it behind them (rowan and dillan) the sign tried to overtake the car near himitangi and sliced the tyre up.

When we caught up to the fuckers in Stratons car Sparks are gushing from the rear, rowans hanging out the window, it was hooliganism at its best.

At the same time i was still drunk and still had beer, I was going to throw a can of tui at there car, But it would'a been a waste of beer, anyways ill say more if you ask, heaps happend}

The Bleeders are the new big thing in NZ, im glad to say that ive been boasting about them since the end of last year, after hearing A Bleeding Heart on accident, Ive been attempting to find a copy of "A Bleeding Heart E.P", and trying to coax people into purchaseing it. Since then they gone and blown up, with two hits, All that glitters being the one thats made them big. Help other deviants

Im the first to admit, that when it comes to supporting deviants im pretty slack, I have a group of people that I consistantly comment on, and I rarely check out other peoples work.

Even worse, is if your art is literature, you used to be shit out of luck getting my attention.

Anyways, lately ive been makeing a slight effort, helping people who ask questions in the shoutbox, reading poems, commenting on more peoples work, and it feels pretty good.

Everyone should do it, that is the point of having an online community, heres a tip.

If you dont like what you see / part of what you see, tell them; constructivly of course, id rather someone telling me how i can improove my next peice, then someone just saying cool (although personaly I love complaments just as much)}

SORT OUT WELTEC STUFF
^{- Well, basically I need to sort of my flat, studylink crap (student allowence) a Part time job (ill be stretched for cash.. so, part time work in a new town seems essentail) all this, once my form arrives and is returned, also im looking at opening a new bank account with BNZ as they have the stundent eftpos card with discounts and stuff.}

NEW YEARS
^{- Ah sweet sweet New Years stuff to be sorted, I was sitting in the common room with Jase and Rob, and they where having a convosation about it, I was getting worried that time was running out and I still wasnt sussed.

Ends out those guys did have me in the back of there minds, Im going to Toupo with Jase, Rob and Mikey D, Jason has booked us and everything (shibby) basically I have $200 already set aside for accomodation (that means a patch of grass where we can put a tent) and im looking at another $200 for surviveing... (when I say survive, I mean get blind drunk)}

SELL SOME WORK
^{- On Friday I was home sick, actually sick, not waging for once, And My mate jay (~squirly) turned up in his tiny red suziki Alto (honestly the cars smaller then a push cart) with a sheet of paper, I was a bit worried at first, thinking that the senior staff had had enough of my absences and sent a pink slip for me departure to the desert of the cabbage.

It was from the senior staff, but it wasnt bad, they needed someone to design them a student dairy cover for next year, in one day (cock heads) and had more or less left it up to me and Jay, I dont know what the final product is, but ill ask jay to get me a copy so I can throw it up some time next year

Just days after the leaking of the controversial new animal welfare code for layer hens, the Animal Liberation Front has raided Wellington battery hen farm Golden Gate. Several animals were rescued from the farm and released to the Campaign Against Factory Farming. The ALF also documented conditions inside the farm.

"The conditions in the farm that were witnessed by cell members were horrendous. Rats crawling through huge piles of manure, regular cages with eight hens, and huge feather loss." - ALF

If ratified, the welfare code will allow the use of the battery cages to continue for at least another 10 years.

We dont always see the bright side

Well Im guessing that im sorting my life out, finally decided what I want to do with my life, become a teacher (I hear you groaning, see your eyes rolling) dont worry im not turning to the dark side.

I want to become an art teacher, just like my mentor (Mr "harrybolts" Harris) who pretty much tried his arse off (for the last four years) to get me and the other horrible two, Jay (squirly.deviantart) and Ray (the argonauts.deviantart) through school, never raised his voice to us (although some times you knew he wanted to) laughed at our frivolous jokes / pranks, put up with our damned dirty rock n roll and pretty much just kept it real.

Anyways im sure they'll teach me how to deal with stress ulcers at teachers college so theres no need to worry about me turning up in an asylum.

Heres my lifes list of things to do

-Get a job (next few days/weeks/months)

-Get to wellington (next year)

-Get into Weltec Fine Arts corse (next year through to 2008/2009)

-Get into Teacher College (2008/2009)

oh and most importantly go on an O.E to Kims room ^_^ or get her to come over to NZ (a.s.a.p)

Had a crappy summer there was the '50 year flood' which destroyed farmland (3 of my freinds familys lost alot) all throughout the central north island there was gale force wind, which ripped peoples roofs off in the north and basically in the whole summer i saw a few days worth of sun...

now its winter and the mornings are chilli, but the sun is out...
its soo much better...

Man its a beutiful day... anyways ill just give you a low down on a few of my current projects (osme of which will bne uploaded later on today)

Magazine cover
-there are two deviations already for this project
-i am takeing my time because i have to keep the content eeer clean, anyways i added a very small feature to the top so ill upload an image of thats progress today

The wall of ink series
-there is one finished image on deviant art
-i have two new images underways for this, im thinking of putting one up tonight, but im not sure if it is a finished product just yet... its getting there however
-feel free to throw some ideas for this series at me im always happy to take note of what people say and add it into my work

Waiopehu college design stuff
-there are a few peices in here which will be used for my design
-I done a character design last night and pen it all up, as well as doing a bit of prismacolur undertones then pen detailing
-It is still no where near finished but it wont be for a while as i wont complete it until im at school and have all of the colours needed to do so
-I will be posting it up here as soon as i get onto the computer with a scanner (younger brother playing around on it currently)

-I have nothing planned until i get back to class (whenever that may be) but you never know when obne fo my mates will let my play with there digital stuff

Every 0.8 days I upload a new deviation, and it's usually on a Tuesday , with 19%/23 of my deviations.

My favorite time of the day to upload is at 16pm with 20 deviations and my busiest month was May 2004 with 40/34% of my deviations.

Id much rather be in Rotorua or Hamner Springs relaxing in a natural spa with all my peers...

Tonight theres a hall party, im not sure if im going to go or not.
I really dont want to, but i want to... also O_o

Last time I went to a hall party (at this particuler hall) the poo-lice came and broke it up.

My freind ([link]) saw his cousin in the back of a paddywagon and decide it would be a grand idea to jump on the polic car and shout 'thats my cousin thats my cousin' after being told to get off the car by an officer of the law several times me and another freind dragged him off.

Sometimes stupidity is ok, but if you want to get yourself and your mates thrown in a slammer to sober up your just plan stupid.

Its these little occurances that make me not want to go to the hall party full stop, and you just have to know theyre going to happen, the cops will turn up for no particuler reason, kids will get arrested, ill have to sort a ride home *sigh* and at the end of the day its not really worth it.
