If you haven't noticed already, I've been somewhat quiet as of late. This is due to the fact that I am in my very last semester of uni and am now doing my internship at a local school. I have had to quit my part time job to devote all the time I have to said internship and I still need more time!!

So...you remember that 33 page paper I wrote in two days? I received my score and critique back earlier this evening. Your girl got a perfect grade and the professor was beyond impressed!

Now for some bad news: I haven't a clue what's going in this body o' mind. I'm not feeling well and am taking it down for a few days. I think it may be the stress of the semester ending coupled with everything else I do daily. I've got exams, presentations, and papers to prepare almost every day of the next couple weeks.

If you haven't already, head on over to :iconmangaangel:'s journal [link] and check out the awesome project he's heading up titled: November Jam!

In that journal, =mangaangel has a list of popular/little known/new characters from the television show Heroes (now aptly titled Villains). We devheads pick up to three of those characters and design each a costume/uniform as well as creating a code name/alias for them. Note: You do not have to draw a BG; it is preferred that you do not. So a plain white BG is perfectly acceptable.

I saw, just few minutes ago, that there were still a good number of characters available for artist's interpretation so go over and sign up!

At the end of the month, =mangaangel is going to take all the submissions and put them together into what I'm guessing will be one huge poster. I'm sure it'll look great!

So, again, the details are:

Honestly. I don't know what the hell is going on. I don't know whether to be pissed off, cry my eyes out, or go and blow something up.

Got my PC back yesterday. Hooked it up yesterday. Didn't turn it on yesterday because it was working find at the PC shop. Went to go print some PDF docs for my upcoming Praxis exam and the damn thing isn't working. This time the monitor won't "work with this video mode". I don't even know what that is.

Anybody...help?

If I go back to the PC shop I can guarantee that I will not have a smile on my face or a hop in my step. I opened up my ';puter and reseated the monitor card. It's still saying the same thing. I'm at my wits end and time's a wastin'.

Okay...so, I get my pc back and everything seems to be working beautifully. Then I attempt to log into City of Heroes. Between the time I handed my pc to be repaired and the the time I received it back, the video card suddenly doesn't work. So, I can't play...I'm going through withdrawal guys...I haven't been on in more than two weeks...

Okay...so, I get my pc back and everything seems to be working beautifully. Then I attempt to use Photoshop. Apparently, the program has been compeltely removed (even though I requested its specific backup) and I cannot find the cds, cases, or anything anywhere! Now, while I can upload things I've inked by hand, ain't nothing getting digitally prettified.

On a lighter note, a friend has decided that I have gone through enough pain and suffering with my pc and laptop (bad pc! bad laptop!) and has graciously offered to get me...wait for it...Adobe Photoshop CS2!! Yay! Why CS2 you ask? I don't know. He offered and I bit.

Update: 10.25.2008: Thanks to all who responded to my PC Woes and now I have some bad news. So I called the PC doctors, a few hours ago, to ask when I can get my ';puter and they have informed me that this will be impossible tonight. Apparently, what was a bit of adware has revealed itself to be a nasty Trojan Horse. My poor ';puter and thus the explanation for my missing art folder as well as a few other files.

So...I'm sad but they assured me that everything will be back to normal tomorrow. They have to wipe my hard drive and reinstall the OS. This was the one thing that I was attempting to avoid. So...more than six years of accumulated programs and work...down the trojan toilet. I'm really sad.

The only good news is that the work they are doing to give me more RAM and reinstall the OS is coming up to be fifty dollars less than the original quote -- go figure. I'm gonna go be sad now.

Hihi all!

I sent my pc into the doctor and I should be able to pick it up by tomorrow, along with purchasing a gig and a half for both my laptop and desktop, I am also getting my desktop cleaned out, punished, and returned to me with a stern warning not to act up again lest it face the wrath of being completely overhauled and the OS reinstalled. No one wants that to happen. No one.

So...by tomorrow, I should be able to start submitting some real stuff again! Yay!

Good news: Just to let everyone know...I've finally finished moving my art stuff and office to the extra room in the house! That's why I've been away for such a long time, sorry for the incommunicado on my part.

Bad news: I sat down, about an hour ago, in my new art studio/office to get some drawing done and, upon logging on to my pc, found that my deviant art folder has completely disappeared from my desktop. I searched all users and delved deeper into the pc than I ever have before and it was all a massive effort in futility. The adware has finally caught up to me and I suppose there is nothing I can do about it except cry (yes, I did shed a tear...I didn't sob or bawl, okay! I just got really misty eyed because I lost hours -- no, days, weeks, and months of hard work!! Imagine that happening to you!! I am just so disappointed that I lost all my art! ...and, for you cynics, I love comics, comic art, and all that stereotypically labeled "male" stuff but I'm still a female and frikkin' emotional!!!! ................... *ahem* Sorry for the outburst).

My first day back on the job has proved to be a disappointing one and I'm headed back upstairs to wallow in my despair and draw when I've finished that.

No worries, again, as soon as I received my pc back from the pc doctors with adware obliterated and more memory added (to much lag during zone switching on City of Heroes), I'll be back. With a vengeance.

It is with great disappointment and sadness that I announce I will not be submitting any art for an indefinite amount of time. This includes any competitions I am a part of (OCBL, Whip it Girl, etc) as well as Chain Sketches so on and so forth.

Unfortunately, I had an accident that has left my right hand unusable for the most part. I was closing my bedroom window and the thing broke, slamming down on my hand. Don't ask me how it broke but you know how when you open a window it should stay open? Mine doesn't anymore. You open it and it just closes with no friction holding it back. I am very lucky that the glass didn't shatter on top of everything else.

So, my doctor says nothing is broken and that I should keep my hand in alternating heat and cold. He says that I'll experience cramps and some "seizing up" for a little while but that it's just the muscles and such in my hand telling me they're pissed off. His words, not mine.

So, I'll be around but I won't be able to participate much.

UPDATE 08.31.2008: Hullo hullo! With one week left to go I thought I'd go ahead and update since I've been getting some notes from people wondering where I am (thus proving they did not ready my journal. Shame!).

I've fallen a few days behind my personal MOCC schedule and I can't say there's any other reason than fatigue and family visiting. Kind of like eating the same food day after day and getting sick of it, I've been spending so much time getting my entry together that I had to take a day off. Well, that really screwed me up because when you only have three weeks to put together a mini-comic you should make full use of the time you have.

Aside from that, there have been family gatherings, parties (why does everyone have them at the same time?), illnesses, etc. So, my schedule was: a week for the penciling, a week for the lining, and a week for coloring. It is now the end of the second week and I am a little over halfway in inking. No matter! I have Monday off and will sit in front of that danged computer till I finish or feel like throwing the damned thing out the window.

So, that's the update and I am quite sure I will not sign back in until the the 6th. Thanks for the notes and well wishes! I appreciate it!! Begin radio silence...

UPDATE 08.18.2008: Hihi all!! I figured I can give an update since things are progressing pretty well on my end. I've decided on the panel layout for a good amount of my round and am currently working on drawing the borders and such on my paper.

08.16.2008: Hullo all! I am going to pretty quiet on Deviant Art for the next few weeks and am letting all know. It is my round for the Multiverse Original Character Challenge and, with everything involved, I'm going to have to focus on this one event.

Saving my universe: ? Universe!!!

I came up with my own MOC Unite comic page and it's looking great in its early stages. So far I've got the basic sketch design in place. I've made some notes for little changes here and there to make it purtier and tomorrow I starting the real thang!

Update: 06.18.08 You'd all be proud!! I finally figured out how to digitally ink in photoshop! No more feeling like throwing my computer out of the window -- I did some research and am well on my way to becoming extremely proficient with this.

It's a more tedious process than I thought (or maybe because I'm brand spankin' new at it) and it took me a few hours (off and on) to begin on Kobalt. I'm going to see what I can knock out this weekend and attempt to post some HOT lineart by Monday.

Keep your eye on the kitty!!

Update: Basic pencils for all characters, but my Kobalt, are done. As of now, I only have the gesture finished for her, tomorrow I plan on adding details then ink for all the OCs. From there, I'll move on to PS and digitally merge the seperate images in to one glorious rendition of MOC Unite!

Colors? Lemme think about it.

The really cool thing about this particular piece of art is that most of the characters are male. I am the self-proclaimed worst at drawing men so I normally stick to the female figure. I had to use reference pics but, all in all, I'm pretty satisfied with the way it's turning out.

I had a bad day yesterday. Picked up pencil and paper to draw and ended up leaving the table pissed off. Right now, I have loads of free time and can't even bare (sp?) to practice.

Anyway, aside from all that mindless blather, point of this journal entry is to declare that I'm giving photoshop another try! I've perused DevArt and found great tutorials to help me on my way -- with mainly coloring and shading -- and right now I'm just waiting for my tablet to arrive (I loathe using a mouse in photoshop).

So...that's it! Any tutorials or other resources anyone can direct me to, I'd appreicate it!

I've seen the light and realized that I have to write, draw, do SOMETHING to release all this creative energy I have pent up inside of me. For the past couple years, I've been doing that via PBeMs. No good, I have a very busy life and cannot release said energy on someone else's schedule. Fanfiction and DevArt, therefore, are perfect for me.

I've started up something things on Fanfiction which I will be posting here but go check it out: fanfiction.net/~ryikasama

I'm also going to do some stuff for Dev as well...mostly illustrating my work and a few others' talent I find extremely intriguing and beautful.

One of my weak points have always been drawing men; most of my art is comprised of women. For a while I even dabbled in women's fashion and have an entire line of clothing! To remedy that, I have since purchased a instructional figure drawing book that focuses on the male physique as well as a few pointers for female.

This is about my second day with Deviat Art so I haven't done much but browse, read, and add talent to my favorites. I plan, however, to submit some art, poetry, and start up a comic book. Initially I had planned it to be a manga but I don't draw anime to well so I'm going to stick to what I know. Expect it, however, to be as detailed and in depth as Japanese managa usually go.
