I know this is going to make me sound like a prude, but is it possible for me to logon to DeviantArt without seeing yet another naked woman? I have nothing against nudity; in fact, I appreciate the human form (not just the female form, mind you) very much. It’s vital to learning how to draw realism, and the human body is beautiful to boot. My problem is, I have a sneaking suspicion that the only reason there is always at least five half-to-totally naked “hot” chicks on the front page at any given time is that horny guys (and girls!) keep looking up these pictures.

Most of them are tasteful and many of them are artistic as well. At the same time, I’m just really tired of seeing naked chicks every damn time I log on, without fail. I don’t even bother actually browsing the most recent, popular pieces because I know half of them will be naked women. Besides being boring, seeing “attractive,” naked women every single day erodes my self-esteem a little. I’ll be fair and say I’m shallow; if a couple of “big girl” images got on the front page, maybe I wouldn’t be so upset. Hell, I’d be cool if a couple of naked *men* images were made popular.

I don’t think that will happen, however; the double-standard is palpable on DeviantArt. You have an image of a naked woman, spreading her legs with string tied around them? It’s art. You have the same image, but with a man? It’s porn. For every “artistic” nude on here with a barely-legal, female model and crappy lighting that gets a pass, a professional piece with a man or a woman who isn’t a size zero gets hit.

I guess in closing, I’ll say that I don’t expect things to change. As long as there is a market for images of attractive, naked women, there will be images of attractive, naked women. I just wish they wouldn’t take over so much of DeviantArt. DeviantArt has so much more to offer;yet another naked chick isn’t the pinnacle of art.

EDIT: Having taken the advice of many of you, I have put on the mature filter. Right this second, there are eleven mature images on the front page. That's about seven or eight too many in my book.

Tomorrow--or in an hour--is my twenty-fourth birthday. Yeesh, I feel old. XD My mom and I are going to the local micro-brewery/bar, so that will be cool. Also, I think she bought me a music box because I saw the bookmark on our computer. The only things that really makes me sad are that I don't have a relationship with my father so I won't hear from him, and that this is the first year I won't get a card from my grandma.

Wow, I totally just depressed myself. Anyway, I'm going to MAKE it an awesome birthday!

Edit: I had a great day! I didn't sleep in because I woke up, but I could have. I screwed around on the computer for hours. We took a bunch of donations to Goodwill and then bought more crap at Goodwill and the dollar store. We went out to a late lunch at the local brewery which makes awesome fresh creme soda. I got a free desert and I chose the tirimisu. It was delicious. Afterwords, we went home and watched Disney movies until bedtime. We also had birthday cake; it was German chocolate. My mom got me a beautiful music box and a music card that plays the Tetris theme. She also got me shoe inserts to replace last years'. XD My siblings didn't call, but they're all flakes so I don't mind. I also got a TON of well wishes on DeviantArt and FaceBook. All in all it was an awesome birthday!

They cut out Remus and Tonks! What the hell? While the side plot of their romance isn't as important, it's one of my favorite parts. I bet dollars to doughnuts the plot will be a DVD extra; Tonks still had her brown hair. They cut out Bill and Fleur, too. Apparently Bill and Charlie don't even exist anymore. They also played up Ron's romance with Lavender, which is even less important, and ignored most of Harry's relationship with Ginny. I liked how he liked her from the start and I had high hopes for them. Then, they just dickered around. They never were actually dating or anything. Hell, I really wanted some closure to the Cho thing from the LAST movie. They break up because Harry thinks she betrayed him and then learns she was under the influence of veritaserum--only in the movie, of course. I'd think he'd at least talk to her after learning that, but we never see Cho again. In the book they at least figure out they have nothing in common and part on good terms. In the movies, I guess Cho is still an outcast.

Ignoring the romance, I hated how the actual entire point of the book, Snape's textbook, is basically ignored. Yeah, Harry uses it to get the liquid luck and to hurt Draco, but other than that it's barely in the movie. Snape doesn't do *anything* to Harry when he almost kills Draco, Harry's quick wits due to the book are nonexistent, and even when Ginny hides it from Harry the scene is more about them and their "will they or won't they" UST. It's like the plot of the Half-blood Prince was tacked on because it was the next book in the series.

I liked the acting, though Lavender seemed too "blond" for me. She's pretty annoying in the book, but she wasn't that bad. I loved Hermione pining for Ron, though Ron's own frustrated feelings were dampened. He says her name in the hospital, but that's about it. Harry was good too, and I liked Ginny. Luna and Neville are still my favorites, though they were barely in the movie. Neville is only in a few scenes and Luna's scenes are relegated to filler. It made me sad. They had better not screw up Neville's awesome battle in the last book. >:[

All in all, I felt like HBP was made just to make money and bridge the gap to the last two films. It was disjointed and full of mood-whiplash. Semi-important plot points were dropped and everyday teenage drama crap was given more time. It was the same problem with LoTR to me; actual scenes were ignored in favor of adding stuff that was supposed to appeal to the fans. Instead, it just annoyed me. I guess I'm just a book purist, but I hope the last two are better.

Is it sad the first place I went was to my pet simulation forums and then here? I do not have many friends to talk to day-to-day. I just wanted to scream but all that would do is hurt my throat and my grandma would not like that.

She was a wonderful person. She baked the second-best kolaches in the world--my great-grandma baked the best. She was so soft and cuddly and she gave the best hugs. Grandma sewed adorable gifts for us for Christmases until she got too tired to do them. One year we all got clown dolls with snaps on their hands so you could have them ride your back. Another year we got quilts and mine had fluffy animals on it. When I was very small, she made me a set of dolls which had snaps so they could hold hands. I think that year my brothers got plush guitars.

She also baked some of the best cookies. A sugar cookie by Grandma was like heaven, and her doughnut holes were always gone first thing. She also made these things called bread nuts which were divine. Grandma was a lot like great-grandma, too. She fed everyone. Even my brother's ex-girlfriend (who turned out to be a bitch) got fed and signed the family tablecloth. Every who visited Great-Grandma or Grandma's table got to sign it. Sadly, Z's new fiance will not get to sign it.

Grandma tried to be kind to everyone, but she could be cutting when she wanted to be. She would not talk about my father, despite his many flaws, until my parents had been divorced for five years. Then she said everything we already thought, but with more elegance. Even then, she tried to be tactful and only pointed out how unkind he had been. She gave him more mercy than I do.

Grandma was just so sweet. She would let me play all her music boxes even when they all made a racket. She would let me play with her jars of stuff and see what a mason jar can hold. When I was little, the family blocks were a treasure of imagination. Even when the toys were put away Grandma could find something to amuse us.

Grandma was just a wonderful person and I am going to be in a lot of pain for a long time. I have to be strong for my mom, though. Mom needs me to be strong. She is an orphan now and she needs us kids. I will not break down when she needs me. I just do not know how to help.

Well, I didn't get to bed last night until this morning at five because I've messed up my sleep pattern as I do every summer. I was woken at ten by my mom, telling me the parade was on our street. Usually it goes down the street a block from our house, but for some reason the judging was at the estate planning building on the corner, so a whole bunch of floats were right on our street. All the motorcyclists were on the corner as well, so that was sweet. I love the sight of motorcycles though the sound hurts my ears.

The parade began and, like always, they threw candy. Yesterday we went to the grocery store and I had bought a cake, cheesecake, cookies, and we already had ice cream. I thought candy would be overkill-did you notice a lot of sweets start with c?--so I gave the candy I grabbed to a trio of kids who reminded me of myself at that age; running their little legs off and endangering their safety to get candy. I would have given it to the two families on my sides, but they didn't want it.

After the parade I made Shrinky Dinks. I made some awesome earrings of Mercury and Jupiter; I'll try to get a picture of them. I also talked to my mom and just hung out. Then I set off my day fireworks. I had crackers, jumping jacks, smoke bombs, and all sorts of stuff. It was so cool to see the chicken and tank roll around. I didn't have roman candles though, and our state forbids parachutes in the city limits because of the heights they reach. :/

We had grilled hot dogs for dinner. My brother grills really well, so they were great. The baked beans we had from our last camping trip were good too, with the pickles and pretzels. We had the cheesecake for desert and I was so stuffed I just played with my DS. I took a bit of a cat nap afterwords.

After we both woke up and bathed, my mom and I went to the carnival (my brother doesn't like them). I went on every ride--I bought a bracelet--and didn't get sick because I took my Dramamine first. I also got a cherry/lime snow cone and blue/pink cotton candy. I bought my mom a really ugly Alien bottle and she loved it. We would have gotten pizza if we hadn't eaten already because the carnival always has pretty good pizza.

I went on the Ferris wheel twice; once during the day and once when it was dark. It was so awesome to see all the people around town setting off fireworks from the high seat. Everywhere I looked I saw such pretty sparkles. It was like watching the professional ones all across the town.

I went on the bumper cars twice as well, and I got complimented in a roundabout way. One little boy who seemed to have had too much sugar announced to his friends they should "get the old people." I told him I couldn't help being the oldest person on the carts, but he said some other girl was older. She probably wasn't and I said as much. He said "well, we're getting the old people but not you." I think the older girl knew the boy, but it was nice that he didn't believe I was so much older than him, though he couldn't have been more than ten.

I also fell after flailing about five feet, so that kind of sucked. It wasn't to bad, though I did grate my hands pretty badly. I won a baton from the duck pond because the game runner was really nice and just let people pull over and over to get the prize they wanted. I wanted to play the balloon pop game, but I wasn't going to pay five dollars for three throws when the prizes were really cheap. I'm a schmuck, but not for that much.

We *would* have gone to the fireworks next, except they moved them to tomorrow because the big annual concert is today as well. Usually the Fourth doesn't fall on Saturday, so they don't collide. This year, instead of moving the concert, they chose to have the fireworks on the day after the Fourth. :/ Maybe they do this every time the two events collide, but it was stupid.

I think it was a shifty ploy to get people to stay an extra day for the fireworks, except you can see fireworks in almost any town. They should have moved the concert; we're the biggest city around for a large portion of the state and the concert is the climax of the Wild West Fest, so people would stay for *that. Why would they stay for fireworks when their own towns no doubt do them? :/

So we came home and set off my night fireworks. Most of them were just pretty and a few made crackling noises--which I love. We had a ton of sparklers, so my mom and I set off, like, twenty each. I also set off a champagne popper, which is a feat for me. I think I must have been scared of one as a child because they scare the bejeezus out of me now. I did do one, though.

Now I am just surfing until bed. Tomorrow I have church and then I may do some cleaning. Reading my old fanfiction is like talking to a pretentious, self-absorbed, whiny little brat. My "magnum opus" "Don't be Afraid to Love" was written when I was fifteen and it is *horrible.* The whole premise is that Mamoru leaves Usagi (as was the style at the time), Usagi goes all OOC apeshit, her rebound boyfriend tries to rape her, and Mamoru saves her at the cost of a near-fatal wound--thus ensuring their love and Usagi taking him back.

The writing isn't bad, but the plot is terrible. Usagi gets mad, but still takes Mamoru back after he conveniently saves her. The rebound boyfriend is a two-dimensional rapist. The other senshi are relegated to background characters and simple representations of their defining traits. Despite being a budding feminist, I wrote a story based entirely around Usagi growing stronger and learning to live without Mamoru . . . until he needs to save the damsel in distress. I tried to portray Mamoru as sympathetic, but included him dumping her as a Deus Angst Machina and stalking her as "love." We all know how I feel about that NOW *coughTwilightcough.*

I also covered nearly every crappy cliche of post-Stars fandom from the early 2000-era. Mamoru leaves Usagi. Usagi gets angry and tells Mamoru off. Usagi gets a new boyfriend who mistreats her. Usagi is almost raped. Mamoru saves Usagi, despite claiming to hate her. I cringe to see these now.

My pride and joy was so bad. I know this now. It will never see the light of day on DeviantArt.

I feel jealous. I'm envious of people who get a lot of entries to their contests. I thought having my contest over the summer break would mean people would have time to draw. I'm offering good prizes. Even if you think my art sucks, subscriptions and prints are always nice.

It's not that I think I deserve or warrant a lot of entries; far from it. I know people are busy and I know that people will enter if they can. I guess I'm just sad I've only got two and a half entries right now, and there is only about a month and a half to go.

It's happened multiple times. Usagi always wins. I always try to help the best I can, and the senshi help Usagi prevail.

The powers that created me as a person and a senshi must have had a plan for me. I thank them for my life and my strength because, even in the darkest hours, I have people who love me.

Heathrow Half-Marathon
I am never, ever, ever going through Heathrow or flying United again. First of all, the stewards started to give us our custom forms about an hour before landing but then decided we'd get forms at the airport when we arrived in Heathrow. What they failed to mention was we would still have to fill the forms out, and so they would have saved us a ton of time to just give them to us ON THE PLANE. Instead of filling them out in leisure, we had to stand in the customs line for thirty minutes before being told we would have to move to the back of the line and fill out the forms anyway.

Our flight had already been delayed, so we had less than an hour to get from the gate we came in at to the gate we would be taking to Dublin, and Heathrow is fricking HUGE! Then, my mom and I got in a fight because I was freaking out and she gets snippy when she's stressed, so I got seperated from her. Also, because for some asinine reason I had an e-ticket instead of a paper ticket like everyone else in our group, I had to go to a different gate just to get my boarding pass. So I ran through Heathrow with one other person from our group (bless you, Micki!) to try and find the right gate to get my boarding pass. After going through two or three checkpoints, we came to the gate . . . and no one was there. See, it was about seven in the morning and apparently they don't staff that gate that early.

So we got directed BACK the way we came and finally ended up at our flight's gate. All told we ran the entire length of Heathrow in twenty minutes, when our flight was scheduled to leave in ten. We finally got to our gate and I was wiped. I hadn't bathed in more than a day, I hadn't slept in hours, I had been cramped in a tiny airplane seat for eight hours watching Twilight over and over, and I just wanted to get to Ireland and go to sleep.

Then our tour director came flying up as the attendant asked if any of us were--you guessed it--my mom. Turns out she went to go find me, as she decided it would be better for her to be stranded in London than me. Then I freaked even more. I was mad at her, but I didn't want her to be stuck in London! Luckily, just as the tour director was going to go look for her she came running up. So basically, we all got on the flight, but it was a close shave and really upsetting. I will never fly United again (more reasons why to follow soon) and Heathrow is too big!

Sweaters of Serendipity
My mother and I wanted to buy sweaters at some point while in Ireland. We kept putting them off, however, because we couldn’t bring ourselves to spend upwards of eighty euros on sweaters apiece, no matter how well-made. Luckily for us, my own nearsightedness saved the day.

We went to the cliffs of Moher and I didn’t think to bring my coat. It had been unseasonably warm our whole trip, and I figured it still would be. What I failed to consider was the Cliffs are quite a bit higher up than the rest of Ireland, and so it was a tad colder. When I got off the bus, I seized up in pain--I was freezing. I tried to hide it; ME STRONG WOMAN. ME NO FEAR COLD. My mother had other ideas.

My mother suggested we try to buy a parka in one of the gift shops which dot the bottom of the Cliffs. As we walked into the first one (they had ice cream!) we saw the most beautiful sweaters. They were so soft and warm. Even better, they cost only sixty euros. What a steal, right? Then we were told they were 20 percent off, and so only cost us 48 euros! We bought two: one a pull-over and one with buttons.

They are so warm and beautiful, and I made sure they were made in Ireland. They were made by the Blarney Woolen Mill Company, so I know they are good quality. In the end, my mistake turned out to be serendipity!

The Cliffs of My Heaven
The Cliffs of Moher were the most beautiful part of my entire trip. They are etched on my mind. I napped the whole way to the Cliffs because buses always put me to sleep. I didn't really have any interest in them particularly; they were just part of the tour. That changed lightening quick.

We arrived and our tour guide Jim told us we had a few hours to hang out. I decided to take the long way up, while my mother stayed at the bottom to take pictures for a few minutes. As I walked, I could see out across the ocean, but it wasn't like I haven't seen the sea before. I kept walking and walking, getting tired.

When I reached the top, I just stopped to catch my breath. I am so glad I did. I looked out across the sea and I gasped. It was so breathtaking. I've noticed that, next to ChibiMoon, Sailor Mars has the most twins in fandom. Generally, I view this as a way for Rei to compensate for a lonely upbringing partnered with a lot of passion (getcher minds out of the gutter). Personally, if I made twins for any of the Inners I'd pick Makoto, but whatever floats your boat. Also, unlike ChibiUsa, Rei often has a twin son as well.

So, I go with the split-time theory of OoT (an adult Link lives his life from the Sealing of Ganondorf onwards and a child Link is sent to the past and stops Ganondorf in his mother-fudging tracks) but with the twist of my own time-split, because I think Wind Waker is depressing. In my story, Link doesn't marry Zelda; after seven years they've grown too far apart to be more than friends. Instead, Zelda marries the Totally-Male!Sheik (which is not my usual fan choice for Sheik, but I don't think Zelda can marry herself), who she spent an inordinate amount of time with as she was, ya know, borrowing his body/form/whatever. Link, in sorrow, finds comfort in Malon who never stopped loving her fairy boy. Ganondorf had also previously had a child with one of his Gerudo groupies, and then gets ARROW'D. I thought about making the mother Naboru, although that seems like an insult to Naboru and I don't want to make the story TOO angsty by having Ganon rape Naboru.

Zelda and Sheik have a boy named Idunno, while Link and Malon have a girl named Malin. Ganondorf's Gerudo lover has girl named Garu. These three inherit their parent's triforce pieces, which is kind of a crappy thing since Ganondorf does break free of his bonds and decides he wants his heir to take over the family business.

In the meantime, a love triangle ensues as the three have to defeat Ganondorf and also control the power of the triforce pieces within them. See, since their parents are still alive, the triforce pieces (with a sort of sentience) become confused as to who are their real masters. The heirs must somehow claim the pieces as their own, all the while avoiding Ganondorf's forces, who are told to kill the prince and Malin to take their pieces, and take Garu hostage.

Now I just need to design them . . .

Make a post in your dA journal. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real-life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Step 2
Surf around your friends list (or friends friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out; it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

Home Life
J was able to fix our hard drives the last time he came home, so I have all my old files! I just have to organize them now. I lost my bookmarks, though, so I need to bookmark all my sites again.

J is here Since Tuesday and leaves tomorrow. It was nice to have him around, even if I was so sick as to not care most of the time. I have a bad habit of getting sick right at semester's end, mostly because I never get enough sleep during the year, and I’ve been fighting the flu or a cold or something all week. It’s been a hassle, but today I actually feel a little better. I can breathe through my nose and I’m not couching every five seconds.

I had a good Thanksgiving, except for being sick. I cooked the whole meal myself and only had a couple of mishaps. I did almost set the house on fire, though. I was making the boxed stuffing and I accidentally let the butter boil over in the water. I turned it down and didn’t think anything of it while I made the green bean casserole. I turned around and the flames were all around the pot. I went “ah” and my brother, on the computer in the other room, asked what was wrong. I didn’t answer, though, as I got the flour and dumped about four cups on the burner and killed the flames, but I had to clean and re-foil the burner after dinner. Also, my mom accidentally grabbed a fully cooked, Cajun-style turkey at the grocery store, so we took it out of the freezer way before it needed to be out. But I didn’t have to cook it except to heat it up, so that was a load off. The green bean casserole was soupy-again-so I think next year someone else can make it. All in all, though, we had a nice holiday. We had wine and used our nice dishes. We had four kinds of pie! I love Thanksgiving.

Workin’ Hard for the Money
I’m working today on my last weekend shift. I’m glad it is the holiday weekend; almost no one is here.

Exciting Happenings
Christmas is coming! I don’t have a lot of money to spend, but I still love Christmas! We get to go to my grandma’s, buy a tree, and just have holiday spirit around us. I don’t care what kind of Scrooges I have to deal with; I love Christmas!

Performing Arts
I’m peeved about choir. Women’s Chorale only had one, small, weekday concert (on election day, no less) and then we were done for the year. The women from WC could sing in the yearly winter concert with the Concert Choir if they wanted, but we won’t be on the program under CC. Basically, we WC singers will be filler voices for the CC but not get any of the prestige. It always seems like this to me. WC gets shafted while CC and the elite singers get all the glory. We always sing first and always sing in little concerts; we always have our rehearsals preempted by stuff for CC or contest (like our pianist leaves to play for competitors and we have to practice without accompaniment). I just feel WC gets ignored and used a lot.

Liberal Arts
I recently read a GOOD teenaged vampire story called Suck It Up. I could go on and on about why I liked it so much more than Twilight, but I’ll just say the teenagers in it acted like TEENAGERS and not perfect adults with perfect youth bodies. The main character is a brand-new vampire who isn’t attractive or brilliant; in fact, he’s basically a loser except he’s also a vampire who has never tasted human blood. He is used as a guinea pig to see if the world can accept animal-blood vampires as people, so he comes forth. The book is about Morning avoiding being destroyed by “traditional” vampires, trying to appear safe and harmless to the world, as well as figuring out his feelings for the book’s main teenage girl, Portia. The ending isn’t some sappy cliché, and Morning and Portia don’t end up as soul-bonded lovers for eternity. Events are realistic and still mystical, even as Morning as “website” cutaway pages explain how the vampire world works. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a short, fun, BELIEVABLE teenaged vampire story.

If you've ever perused the "favorites" section of my DA account, you've no doubt seen my ever-growing collection of anti-Twilight faves. (Incidentally, I've hidden all of those from my main favorites page out of respect for my Twi-hard friends). I hate Twilight with an unholy fire; a burning passion, if you will. You know how that one guy in class can't stop talking about how much he hates The Office? Or how that one kid across the street complains about Pokemon every second of every day? Or how that old lady down the street that hates "that devil music" called rock won't let you forget it? Twilight is my The Office, my Pokemon, and my rock music combined into one big rage-ball. Ask my family and friends; I will deluge any unfortunate wretch who asks with my righteous-and loud-indignation.

However, as I do have many friends who like Twilight, I wanted to be fair to the series. First of all, I have only read the first book and am working on the second, so I will try not to bash the others until I read them. Also, while this journal will be a compilation of links and anti-Twilight content, I will never post updates as “major” save for this one. As well, I intend to also chronicle things I liked about the book. There are very, very, VERY few but I'll try to think of several.

My Personal Opinions
1. This journal made me go look up the half-draft of Midnight Sun, or Twilight Remix ala Edward's perspective. One line so far has stood out among the rest:

"Unlike most humans, her own needs were far down the list. She was selfless."

What? WHAT? How the flipping F**K is Bella Swan, Miss "I'm ditching my family to be a vampire" selfless? She disses and insults her family and friends (silently, to other people, AND to their faces), disses the town she came from and disses the town she's in now. She puts the ENTIRE town of Forks in mortal peril, including her father, the Cullens, and the dozens of people who are-for some unfathomable reason-obsessed with her (and completely ignores this fact when faced with the prospect of leaving Edward). She rejects FOUR boys in the most wishy-washy, hurtful ways despite all of them being perfectly decent and interesting guys (but none of them are the ADONIS EDWARD). Bella Swan is the most selfish "heroine" I've read.

As another note, I find it incredibly presumptuous that SMeyer writes that Edward only seems to read selfish and unkind thoughts, as shown in the line "unlike most humans . . .” Yes, humans have a tendency to be selfish and think about themselves or mean thoughts, but SO DOES BELLA. Bella doesn't spend every waking moment thinking of ways to better her world; she spends every waking moment whining and thinking about how cute Edward is. Bella is as selfish, if not more so, than any other person in the book-her ACTIONS are selfish, not just her thoughts. Conveniently, Edward can't read her selfish thoughts (and never acknowledges her selfish actions) and remains blissfully unaware that his girlfriend is just as much as a b***h as anyone else. Bella doesn't volunteer or give to charity; hell, she doesn't even have any goals past spending eternity with Edward.

Twilight could have had such a good angle if Bella DID have dreams or goals, and had to decide to be with Edward or give up her life. Her complete dismissal of her entire being (including her family, friends, and the shallow hobbies Meyer tries to pass off as talents) is both harmful to readers and poor writing.

2. I’ve seen quite a few blogs and posts about how antis need to “lighten up.” I’ve also seen more than one post where antis are berated for being cruel, mean, and snotty. I find this attitude to be hypocritical. Just as the fans are allowed to like the series and should not be lumped into one group, so should antis be allowed.

I derive happiness from making fun of Twilight. I have actual fun finding anti art and rewriting chapters. I don’t go to fan pages and state that the series sucks. I don’t make it a habit of tracking down fans and berating them. In fact, I deliberately avoid doing just that. As not all fans are insane, neither are antis. The only thing that comes close is my one stamp, the comments of which place my derision squarely on the shoulders of insane fans.

I saw one particular LiveJournal post that berated antis for being rude and violent. This post mentioned antis wishing for Meyer’s death and similar horrible events. I would like to point out I at no point have wished for these sorts of things. I don’t even really dislike Meyer as a person; I just hate her as an author. I don’t wish she would die nor have a miscarriage. I also don’t wish she’d get raped or end up in an abusive relationship.

Home Life
My great-uncle died on my birthday. He had terminal lung cancer, so it was a blessing he didn’t suffer for long, but I couldn’t get time off to go the funeral because of midterms. I also go to choir and voice lab, had to work, and just had a million things to do. I was so sad that I couldn’t pay my respects and see all my family. Even my grandma came up from Nebraska! My mom went to the funeral and said everyone missed me, however. I got paranoid when she was gone, since I had never been in a house alone for more than a day, and this was for three or four days. I locked every window in the house and double-checked all the doors. But nothing happened, and she brought me doughnuts!

J showed up last night out of the blue. It turns out he gets a midterm break at his school, and shared gas money with a roommate to come home. My mom knew for a week and never even hinted at his visit! He’s here for a few days, and he gave us TWO laptops! One laptop was defective and the screen cracked within a month of his owning it without any sort of damage by him, but Circuit City wouldn’t refund him. However, when hooked up to a regular monitor, that laptop still works. Then, he ordered a different laptop from Amazon that he waited more than a month for, but that laptop never came. So he canceled that order and bought a third laptop. As soon as he bought the third laptop from some other website, the second one showed up at his dorm, even though he canceled it. They also forged his signature and said someone signed for it, but they really just left the package in the hall where anyone could have stolen it. J says it would be too much trouble to try and get the second one refunded, so he gave it to my mom. So now, two people who can easily share one computer, have three! I think one may be just for video games, since this one doesn’t have the right memory or video card, but the new laptop with the cracked screen does.

Workin’ Hard for the Money
I can paint the Periodicals Sections for extra hours, but I don’t like to paint. I might take up the offer anyway, since I could use the extra money. I also don’t have to work anymore weekends except one in November! I’m so happy I don’t have to get up at nine anymore!

Exciting Happenings
I seem to actually be getting the hang of Spanish. I can even sort of carry on a conversation!

J says he can put our old hard drive into this computer when we get him a static-electricity bracelet thing. I’m so excited! I’ll get my files back!

Performing Arts
I’m really starting to get the hang of breathing correctly when singing. I’m also doing really well in my choirs and in my voice lessons. I’m having some difficulty in Aural Skills, due to my massive lack of rhythm, but my professor showed me a neat hand trick to count beats fairly well. Also, in piano, I can almost play songs from music now! I’m learning chords and scales, so it’s all very interesting, if difficult.

Liberal Arts
I have no clue what to write for my short story. I have plenty of interesting things to write about, but I’m not sure how to actually do the writing part. I also think of the really neat parts of a story, but get stuck on the boring plot exposition parts. I have to have a draft by Monday, though, so I better get cracking.

Visual Arts:
I’m working on these over the weekends, so I have no idea when they will be done. I am only listing those I have NOT provided an edit and Photoshop image for. This way I can be sure I do all of the ones I have before taking on any more trades. However, most of those that I have trades with will get extra art when I have time and have finished an image for everyone.

I actually like Naruto, I really do. However, I am really tired of seeing every third image on the front page be Naruto cosplay, fanart, whatever. I also don’t mind artistic nudes, but a lot of what shows up on the front page is pushing the definition. I get tired of seeing those all the time. When I just now looked, there were five images of half- to not-clad women, and some that push the boundaries. Flowers and wolves are nice as well, but do we really have to see them every five seconds? I guess I just wish there was a little more variety to the popular images, so I could find some new stuff to look at.

My mom bought me shoe inserts. I was so happy because I have chronic foot pain, so that is all I asked for. In another twist, Zoicite is reincarnated as a woman, so she STILL ends up homosexual! That twist is my little homage to the dub.

Home Life
Well, it’s been a few weeks since J left. He’s sort of fitting in at KU. He was having a breakdown over algebra the first few days, but he seems to be doing better now. He calls about every other day. He says he parties a lot which is worrisome, but he’s a smart guy. He’ll be all right.

I finally uploaded all the old versions of all my files I could find online or on disc, except my written work. Hopefully, we can put the old hard drive into the current computer, so I can get my most recent work back.

Workin’ Hard for the Money
My schedule this semester is pretty good. I only work MWF afternoons, so except for dealing with the Free Staff Happy Hour chaos on Fridays, I’m pretty calm during work.

Exciting Happenings
We have our passports for Ireland. We also have a couple payments in for the cost and are starting to save. I can’t believe we’re going, for real!

Performing Arts
I’m in so many music classes this semester. I love to be able to sing and play so much, but I don’t like being criticized all the time. Also, I’m having trouble with rhythm in Aural Skills, but my professor is a really nice guy, so hopefully I can do my best and get my A!

I didn’t get into Concert Choir again. Oh well, I’ll try out again next semester. Eventually I’ll get in and until then I’ll do my best in Women’s Chorale.

Church choir is still simple. I made a poster to get new singers and I just have to put it up around campus.

Liberal Arts
I’m in one creative writing class this semester. My professor is a nice guy usually, but he ticked me off this Monday. Myself and two other students were the first to have our two poem critiqued. We turned them in and THEN our professor explained all the rules we should follow in our poems. I got a C- on both poems, and I am mad! I asked him WTF was up, and he said I could “improve the grade on the final draft.” Yeah, but my first draft grades will still suck. Even if I get a perfect A on the one final draft (which isn’t likely), I still have those two C- to worry about. Also, I have to write a short story, but it has to be realistic. I write fantasy! How am I going to write a realistic story?

We dropped J off. I miss him. I am sad. Anyway, I got a few days to just chill. I saw my siblings all together. I got BBQ. I colored with my niece! It was a great little vacation. Now I’m back to the grind. Hopefully I won’t miss J and the others too much.

Apparently the coworker who has had our computer for a month isn’t comfortable replacing the motherboard if that is the problem, so he’s giving our computer back so we can take it to a professional. WTF, mate! If you didn’t want to mess with it, couldn’t you have told us so a month ago?

We’re leaving to take J to school tomorrow. I can’t believe my baby brother is going off to school and stuff! Also, we get to see the sibs.

I have what appears to be a spider bite on my calf. I went to a walk-in clinic (after going to the campus health center where “there aren’t any nurses until the 25th;” so why the hell are you open at all), and they prescribed me some antibiotics. I’m allergic to penicillin, though, so it took a while for the clinician to come up with an alternative.

The guy who is fixing our computer has mono, so no ideas when the poor compy is coming back.

Workin’ Hard for the Money
I spent my day off this week looking for a walk-in clinic for my spider bite (see above). Then I slept all afternoon as I was worn out from walking all over town. That is NOT a day off! I wanted to play Animal Crossing, dammit!

We finally applied for our passports, so we should get them in a few months. We’re really, really going! EEEEEEEE!

Performing Arts
I’ve been singing at church before the service during the “free sings” which have been set up. The sings are fun, but the organizer keeps using songs from a hymnal no one owns, so we’re all lost.

J leaves in a couple of weeks, and I'm starting to understand how much I'll miss him. We don't get along most of the time, but he's still my younger brother. I hope he does all right at school. He’s such a liberal, and he’s going to a liberal school, so he’ll fit in. I’m just worried about him as far as losing his shell. But if I could do so, so can he!

Also, our computer is still busted. So sad, so sad.

I got a couple of days off this week, so that was nice, even though I only got days off because my hours had to be cut for budget reasons. I kept on the bright side, however. I slept in, played Animal Crossing, and gave blood. I dread my work schedule when classes start, however.

Exciting Happenings
I get to see my sister, I get to see my sister, I get to see my sister! My older brothers as well, but I see them a lot more often than my sister. She is bringing my niece (whom I haven’t seen in years) so that will be awesome, too.

Performing Arts
My church choir director had to resign this month when he found out he has diabetes. He’s a really neat, old, German dude, so the whole thing is a major bummer. He taught me how to say “may I have a beer” in German!

Liberal Arts
I’m reading books on crafts I found while doing stack maintenance today. I have one about Celtic glass and one about antique toys. I really mostly like the pictures, but my mom will like the books, too.

Home Life
I’m glad my younger brother finally got a job. Since he works at Wendy’s, he gets discounted food. Also, even though they’re not supposed to, he gets to take any leftover food home, so he brings me a chicken sandwich whenever he closes the store. It’s a nice treat to have a midnight snack gift.

Sadly, our computer is still very much not fixed. I’m starting to think I need to just buy a new one. I’m tired of not being able to do nearly anything I want because I can’t use my own computer.

I wish the campus choirs were meeting right now. I miss the fun and complex songs we sing in those choirs.

Want to see who I ship? Here's the list!

Please, please, please don't comment with just "that ship sucks" or "you're going to burn in hell for liking that ship" or stuff like that. If you don't like a ship, feel free to say so in a polite, coherent way, and we can discuss and debate. I just don't want anyone to fight over my personal opinions.

Also, I don't support all of these ships equally; I support some in certain situations, some just for laughs, and some just for the crack of them.

Each ship's members are listed alphabetically. As a bonus, each ship will have a thumbnail of a piece of artwork which features it.

All of my ships include adult (in body AND mind), consenting, humanoid, non-evil, preferably alive, sane participants. So, if a character is usually a child, ghost, horse, etc. I only ship them when they fit the above criteria.

Home Life
It’s three weeks and counting since our computer died. I’ve been using the ones here at work and my younger brother’s computer, but it’s not the same. My works, programs, and games are not on those computers. I am sad.

Workin’ Hard for the Money
I thought I was going to have to miss work next week to volunteer at the church summer science week for kids, but it turns out our hours change next week anyway. I won’t miss any work and I won’t lose any money. Sweet!

Exciting Happenings
I’m going to go with my mom to drop off my younger brother when he finishes transferring this August. I’ll get to see all of my siblings (even my sister from California) for the first time since my older brother’s wedding! I’ll get real KC BBQ, go to the Half-Priced Bookstore, and maybe even go to the Natural History Museum! I’m so excited!

Performing Arts
This is my last weekend of church choir before we get August off. I love to sing, but I can’t wait to take a break. I love hymns, but they can be sort of slow and hard to sing.

Liberal Arts
A friend of mine recommended Twilight for me to read a couple of weeks ago. I have to say, while I thought it was cute, the writing really did suck. Bella just came off as this spoiled, annoying moron who was only in love with Edward because he was quote-unquote pretty. I hardly call that a basis for a healthy relationship, let alone one with a dangerous vampire. I do have Eclipse to read, though, so maybe the writing and Bella can redeem themselves. I’m not holding my breath on either, however.

Home Life
It’s been almost TWO WHOLE WEEKS since our computer died, and I’m getting antsy. I miss my poetry, my Photoshop, and my webcomics. I can’t really use the computers here at work for much because we can’t save and I don’t want to put personal stuff on a shared computer. Also, none of these computers have Photoshop. I want my computer back!

Workin’ Hard for the Money
My boss is gone today for her birthday, so we’re all being very lazy. I’m about ready to maim a coworker, however, since he doesn’t work when the boss *is* here. Do your job, man! Shelving books and working on the projects may be boring, but you get paid to do those actions. Do them and stop acting all coy and making jokes when I get angry that you aren’t. We aren’t getting paid to sit on our butts and watch television.

Exciting Happenings
My mom’s birth certificate *finally* came in the mail. Now we just have to find someplace that takes passport photographs and we can get on the ball for our trip! I have to get paid first, however, since I don’t currently have the full two hundred dollars needed for both our passports.

Performing Arts
I miss my mp3s/radio on my computer. Since I don’t listen to music at work and I don’t listen to YouTube anymore anyway since the new ruling over them, I haven’t had any real music for a week or so. I miss singing along to my favorite songs.

Liberal Arts
I just read a great book about reincarnation called, well, Reincarnation, so I want to try and write something about that idea. I love the idea of reincarnation, and I’ve always thought the concept would make a great story plot.

Home Life
Our home computer died. My mom took the computer to a coworker who is a computer whiz to see if the machine can be saved. He and my brother think the motherboard died, but the problem could be anything. I hope we didn't lose our files. All my poetry and art is on that computer.

Workin’ Hard for the Money
Our system for checking out books has been down intermittently for the past week, so we’ve had to check books in and out by hand. This wouldn’t be such a problem, except we apparently don’t have a tangible card catalog. Since the online catalog is hooked into the system, *that* was down as well. Ergo, we had to manually search for every book a patron might ask for. Sometimes technology is more trouble than it’s worth.

Exciting Happenings
I have to get my passport yet, but my mom and I are already crazy-excited about Ireland! It’s like, everything can be made into something about our trip!

Performing Arts
I can’t wait to get a break from choir. I love to sing but I hate getting up so early in the morning for church.

Liberal Arts
I had a dream that was a really great story about immortal people and time travelling. I woke up all creative and ready to start writing it down . . . until it occurred to me I’d dreamt the plot of Doctor Who with a little bit of random anime thrown in. Fudge.

I didn’t have to work on the Fourth due to the holiday, so I slept in until noon. Eventually, I got up and played Saga Frontier for two hours. I also did a load of laundry and watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory while I ate some nice penne pasta in red sauce. When my brother got home from work at about four, we set off my day fireworks, like smoke bombs and jumping jacks.

When my mom got home from work at six, we went to Burger King for dinner. I haven’t had a Burger King Original Chicken Sandwich for months and it was SOOOO good! When we had eaten, we parked our car by the levee where the local fireworks are set off. That parking lot is the best place to watch the fireworks; it looks like the fireworks are RIGHT above you. We walked to the carnival from there.

I rode every ride except the kiddy rides and I almost threw up. I won a giant dolphin hammer and a teddy bear from a couple of games (duck pond and balloon pop, respectively). My mom took some pictures, we got cotton candy and a snow cone, and then we walked back to the levee for the fireworks.

We watched the fireworks and then went home to finish up our own explosives. Finally, I went to bed and read a short story before finally turning in at about two. It was a GREAT Fourth!

Home Life
I was sick yesterday with the “72-hour Flu.” J got a job at Wendy’s, so maybe he won’t hog the computer so much. It’s my turn to do the dishes, so that sucks.

Workin’ Hard for the Money
We’re doing two projects at the library right now: putting barcodes on books not in the system and stack maintenance. Both are extremely BORING, except I get to talk to my coworkers more than usual. It’s kind of neat to really learn who I work with. I’m going to have nightmares about barcodes for weeks, though.

Exciting Happenings
I’m going to Ireland! I’m going to meet in person for real! My mom is going with me! Ireland rocks! Tours rock! Everything rocks!

Performing Arts
It turns out the Church has been paying me but, because it’s a “scholarship,” they’ve been paying the money directly to the school. This means I’m never actually going to see the money I make. Stupid bureaucracy.

Liberal Arts
I wrote a new poem a few days ago, but I still haven’t done much with my fanfictions. I’ve been drawing more than anything else, and with the art trades I have, I don’t think I’m going to have a lot of time for writing right now. As long as I’m being creative, I guess it doesn’t matter.

You know, I never figured I’d ever stick with any sort of journal. I have this really old, tangible one from when I was twelve that I find every few years, use for a few months, and forget again. I also have a Facebook which is rarely updated, I had a blog, and I had a short-lived LiveJournal. But, somehow, I’ve stuck with my DA journal . . . kind of. I don’t update every day like some users, but I do find myself thinking “I should post that on DA” whenever something happens in my life. I suppose I like the idea that my friends can see what I’m thinking with ease, and I can edit my thoughts later so I don’t sound like a moron. So, to commemorate this momentous occasion of me accepting that DA is my online blog/journal, here’s what’s going on in my life. Headers totally ripped from because she’s just so cool. :3

Home Life
Not much is going on at home. My younger brother J is still trying to transfer to a different school, so that's a bit of stress. I still hate doing dishes, but maybe I won't mind so much when it's just my mom and I. I will miss my brother, though.

Workin’ Hard for the Money
Working in the campus library during the summer is one heck of a job. Except when we're working on projects, I basically get paid to surf the internet in air-conditioned comfort!

Performing Arts
I sing each Sunday with the local Presbyterian Church for a scholarship (although they haven't paid me for months). I love to sing, so it's all cool. I'm also going to be in choir again in the fall. I think I may start going to the bars in town that have karaoke as well.

I need to revise some of my better fanfictions so my fanfiction.net account has something new for once. Also, I should work on some new poetry.

There is apparently a collective unconsciousness of the SailorMoon fandom that really, really likes to create twin daughters (and once in a while, boys) for ChibiUsa. Although the husband varies, as do the appearances and personalities of the children, they are always twins. I guess we all felt it isn't fair that the Moon Line can only have one child.

Entry Duration: When I decide I'm tired of waiting for entries
Selection of Winner: My favorite wins, of course
Summary: My next big purchase is another tattoo. It’ll be on my upper left arm, and it’ll be SailorMoon themed. I don’t want to just use an official picture though (that’s so boring), so here’s another mini contest. Because it will be a permanent part of my body, I reserve the right to refuse all entries. However, the nicest one *will* win a prize. The only prerequisites are it cannot include gore/violence and only tasteful nudity, it must be line art (I don’t want to pay for it all at once with all the colors, but you can submit a colored version with the line art) and it must be fairly small, not bigger than four inches squared. But that’s it! Anything SailorMoon can work. For ideas, I like Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto most.
