Using the Horror/Macabre gallery to bring you music and mayhem, this week I bring to you VAST.

VAST

VAST is an American industrial rock band based in Austin, Texas. The acronym VAST stands for Visual Audio Sensory Theater and is the main creation of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jon Crosby.

Crosby's musical endeavors began at a young age of 13, where he was noted in Guitar Player Magazine as a promising guitarist of the future. He often recorded home demos with nothing more than a guitar and a drum machine, sometimes a bass player with him as well.

VAST has six studio albums.

When one thinks of the horror and macabre genre, they probably think about blood, guts, and shocking images depicting death and severe harm. But there is another side to the scary, a side that uses less color, less shock value effects, and imagination and subtlety ro produce a chilling image.

Things such as ghosts, forests, graveyards, abandoned houses - all of these can be used as fitting and suitable models for a very spooky scene. Some might argue, with a great amount of merit, that an abandoned house can make a better model than a human being. What is horror/macabre?

Dictionary.com describes horror as being an overwhelming or painful feeling caused by something frightfully shocking, terrifying or revolting.

It also tells us that macabre means gruesome, ghastly, of or suggestive of the allegorical dance of death.

Pretentious, Moi? is a UK based goth band.

Created as a solo project by Tim Chandler in 1994, the live band now includes some of the best known musicians in the contemporary uk gothic scene.

Moist was a five-piece Canadian alternative rock band that was popular in the mid-to-late-1990s. The band was led by lead singer David Usher, and featured Mark Makoway (guitars), Jeff Pearce (bass), Kevin Young (keyboards) and Paul Wilcox (drums). Moist formed in Vancouver, BC in the fall of 1992.  In January 1994 they completed their first full length CD, which was titled Silver.
Strong independent sales led to the band signing with EMI Music Canada.

1) I got a new computer.

First off, the kitten. She's insane but it really does a household good to have a young cat in it, I think. She's brought an element of insanity that has been lacking, as kittens are crazy. She's brought a bunch of laughter, a little bit of annoyance, and a lot of smiles. For the most part, it's really easy to suggest to me, I like to think. I try to respond to most notes that I receive, and when I don't I encourage you to resend, though spamming me doesn't get anybody anywhere! As for me, I've got a nasty sinus infection that is making me wish I had a hammer. Insert violent sinus destruction here.

I realized it's been a month since my last update, which was an impersonal Round Up journal, so I thought I'd say a few things.

1) Chinese Noodle + chocolate cookies are amazing. If you've never had one, go find one, and eat it now.

2) Farmer's Market's have the best jam. Seriously. It's so good.

3) There's a lot of peppers growing in my garden right now, and they are shiny and fat and look awesome.

What he's done is he has put up some snippets of his novel, Princess Nonomi, and he's asking for fan art. The art is any medium, and the deadline isn't for months - so there's a lot of time to get your horror on.

The contest is 18+ due to extreme violence and sexuality, so this is an adult contest.
