I know I've been absent lately, my laptop with all my software is currently not working and my camera tragically died as well, so I haven't been able to create any new artwork. As soon as my laptop is up and running, I'll be back with new pieces, don't worry!

Anyways, to help fill up all those long, empty hours spent flat on my back I've started an RPG. it's for original characters only. The guidelines for character creation are fairly loose (just no Mary-Sues)

Okay, now you're wondering what I need, right? Well, for the past few months I've been a little low on inspiration...I've gone so far as to create fan-art of other people's characters (even if Puresoul is the coolest original character I've ever heard of). So I need suggestions from all you artistic types out there for themes you'd like to see me create. It could be anything, from something as straightforward as "love" to something as vague and complex as "God". I'd like to collect 25 themes from my friends out there in Internet-land to create this June.

Why June? Well, because my birthday is June 18 and I want to do something special that month. So comment with your suggestions, I'll compile a list and we can check them off as we go!

I also wanted to let you guys know that this month I'm working on some deeply personal projects for my therapist. We're using my artwork to help me deal with some childhood traumas so I can begin to move forward in my life. I doubt I'll post them (even though the one I've created so far is really cool - it feels too personal to put on the internet, you know?).

So, in short, I won't be doing much posting this month. However, I am still taking commissions - I can create avatars for your original characters or whatever you want. I've even gotten some more new models I'm going to do a render of and put in the Commissions Info folder in my gallery. Commissions are still free (since I've only gotten two this year ^__^).

Don't forget to comment with theme suggestions - it doesn't have to be one word, it can be a phrase too. I'll pick the top 25 and list them with the suggestor's icon beside them, and each image will be dedicated to the suggestor.

Now on to more important matters! It recently occurred to me that I've been an artist here on DA for more than a year now! (Since February 2007, in case you're curious and too lazy to look like I am :giggle:) Last year I was just learning my craft and frankly, I wasn't real great. In fact I sucked. What a difference a year makes!

...Good thing it's happened to me :giggle:

Unfortunately, I have had to send my beloved laptop into the company I purchased it from for repairs. On it was my entire 3D library and all my recent creations, so until it is sent back to me (in two weeks or so) there won't be any new uploads. :(

The problem is that there are these stupid lines, both horizontal and vertical, across the screen. At first there was just one and I figured, "hey...it's only one stupid line. I can live with that." Two weeks later there's a pattern that resembles a plaid flannel shirt I wore back in the gay '90's when it was the fashion to wear one over a t-shirt. So I called the company (when I bought the computer I sprung for a 3-year full warranty, and it came with a 1-year warranty on all parts and software) and it's currently winging it's way via Fed-Ex to Tennessee where it will receive it's desperately needed repairs.

I'm 99% sure it's a hardware problem, so hopefully they won't have to reformat my hard drive (thereby deleting all my lovely, lovely models and the rest of my 3-D library, as well as about a million pictures of my neice and all my saved games.)

But, the possibility is there, in which case it'll be even longer while I hit the torrents and go through Rendo and all the other places where I downloaded my enormous library. (I probably have 40 gigs worth of library on that machine, lol.)

In case you're wondering why I didn't back up - I can't afford 40 gigs worth of blank CDs or flash drives to back up all that stuff. So I just crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.

In the meantime, I've had a situation come up and I need to speak about it and artist's rights.

I'm not going to name names, but it recently came to my attention that another user here on DA has fav'd one of my pieces and put in a folder called "Avs'. I looked at that particular collection, and it was a group of pieces, mostly photography, similar to my own and I came to the logical conclusion that she is using this artwork as avatars on other sites.

NOT COOL!

I am the owner of my artwork, and I retain all rights and privileges that entails. To use or alter my artwork in any way, shape or form without my express permission is illegal.

I will be posting notices on all my artwork (*groan* that's gonna take forever! My gallery is so huge right now...) that it is not to be used by anyone else for any reason without my express permission. If I find out who this user is, and believe me I'm trying, I have every right to file a lawsuit against her. Frankly, I'm angry enough to do it.

Yes, it's a compliment that she wants to use my artwork to represent herself. But that's stealing, plain and simple.

So, for the month of March ONLY, I will offer free custom wallpapers to anyone who requests one. Check out the Wallpaper folder in my gallery for a sample.

To get your very own original wallpaper, send me a note with the following information:

1. A quote or saying you like
2. The basic idea you want for the image, i.e. dancer, warrior, fairy, juggler, etc.
3. The resolution you want. Unless you specify otherwise, all wallpapers are sized at 1280x800.
4. Make sure to make a note of the style you wish, i.e. anime, gothic, cartoony, realistic, etc.

Be patient, I'm not sure how many requests I'll get so it may take awhile, also remember that my funds are extremely limited and I may not be able to do exactly what you want because 3D models are expensive! I'll get as close as I can to your request.

Well, what are you waiting for! Go send me that note with your request!

Seriously though, I'd LOVE to have a DD, but it seems as a 3D artist I'm denied. Well, c'est la vie, I suppose.

I'm working on several really good pieces that I will post when completed, though it may be awhile. One in particular involves some bone-textured medusa-type hair I found on Daz - it looks cool, but to make it look right, each single "hair" has to be shaped individually. It's taking forever.
I found some awesome free downloads for Aiko and now she has more than three outfits - more like ten or eleven - and a new hairdo! So thanks to ~Lelu for the awesome freebies!
Finally, a little rant: If you like something, take a minute and say so! Don't just look and say nothing! That's so lame! People like getting comments, at least I do! Criticism is always welcome as well, but say SOMETHING! I make a point of it when I view another artist's work - it takes like 30 seconds. Just do it!
