Just thought I'd update my journal with something... I'm in my last semester of college, so I'm kind of nervous with what I'm going to do after graduation. I'm not sure where I'm going to live, but I'd like to stay in California. I would like to work in either alternate energy (specifically wind energy) or work in the movie industry doing the 3D effects such as props and set minis and/or prostheses. If both of those fall through, I'll probably work on Edward's Air Force Base. They're always looking for engineers XD

I have 8 am classes every day, so I've been trying really hard to get to bed earlier, and failing miserably. I nap a lot more now :3

Hehehehe... President Obama... :3 the inaguration was pretty amazing. I got to watch it with a bunch of other students on Sproul Plaza. Someone anonymously donated the rental of a huge screen so students could watch. Needless to say I missed my first day of class because of that.

I'm trying to teach myself Qwerty, because the GRE won't allow people to type in Dvorak. Fuck you GRE people.


I think I want to do the sketch meme thing [link] but I need ya'll to give me random words. If I don't make it to ten, then I'll do what I can with what you give me.

Lessee... any questions? I can't really think of what to write.

Vote NO on 8.

Proposition 8 is an initiative measure on the 2008 California General Election ballot titled "Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry". If passed, the proposition would "change the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in California." A new section would be added stating "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." (copied from Wikipedia)

I know of NO solid or reasonable argument against gay marriage that is not based in religion, and one of the founding principles of this country is a seperation of church and state, and the government shall make no law favoring one religion or another. Writing discrimination into the California Constitution based on religion bias goes against everything this country stands for.

Even if you are personally against gay marriage, if you believe for what this country stands for, then vote NO on 8, and keep discrimination OUT of the California Constitution.

Vote. If you are over 18, for the love of country and self-determination get out there and VOTE.

PS The polls are currently showing Yes > No on 8. Help out! Well, as of an hour ago, I'm 21! First thing I did: my friend drove me to Safeway and I got a 6-pack of Smirnoff Ice, Green Apple Bite ^___^ the time on the receipt is 00:06 Later today I'm going to a wine store and getting a couple bottles, one red and one white.

Some basic updates:
*Most of the drawings I do now are sketches. No real time or motivation to work on something I could post here, though I may go through my sketches and find my favorites to post (depending on... you guessed it, time and motivation )

*I have, however, had time to do an AWESOME group video using various 3D programs in one of my classes last semester to make a ~5 minute video on how my beautiful bow is put together :3 so much work was put into the damn video, and I feel really narcissistic watching it over and over again but I've very proud of my group! We worked really well together, and I'm very happy with the result: [link] if you're interested.

*No Comic Con this year for me I really wish I could go, but I'm in the midst of summer classes... if I hadn't failed those classes, I wouldn't be doing summer stuff, but failing is part of college, and learning how to cover your ass when you fail is part of it as well XD

*I'm going to South Korea for the last two weeks of Summer before school I'm going with the Cal Archery team and we get to train at KNSU (Korean National Sport University). Those people are SO GOOD it's INSANE. It is said that South Korea has two national sports: Starcraft and Archery, so hopefully I get to learn some new stuff and get better.

*I can't imagine what else I could write here... I got a haircut? XD I think I'll make a new DA ID using one of the better pictures.

*Oh! My LJ account is under the same name, raeraem.

Don't get me wrong. Most of the time the recievers of the Daily Deviation deserve it, but there are some times where you sit and stare at the screen going, ". . . what? Why?"

Despite the bafflement at the occasional DD, there's also that depressing feeling when you realize you will NEVER get a Daily Deviation, plain and simple. So this contest is kinda my response to these situations.

Contest Info:
"The goal of the contest will be to write a short blurb (30-60 words!) about how wonderful your piece of art is. Can't think of anything to say? Emulate other DD commentary. Look at current and past DDs to get ideas. Remember, I don't CARE how good or bad your art is, I just want you to convince me that you deserve a Daily Deviation.

Remember, art is subjective. So if you feel that your 20 minute sketch of a toaster and a dancing tomato is a masterpiece, it IS a masterpiece!"

What do you guys think of an idea like this? What should I offer as a prize? I was thinking I could photoshop a fake screenshot of the deviation with the DD bit at the bottom (I could do an example if you all want me to), and you can post it in your gallery, like "OMG, I actually got a Daily!" If I decide to do this, would you all be willing to help me advertise? I think this could be A LOT of fun if we just get a bunch of people involved ^___^

I. FUCKING (wait, FRACKING) love Battlestar Galactica!!

I just watched the season premiere, and it left me with my heart thudding in my chest. There was one part in the second half of the premiere where I was just moved to tears, and it took me a couple of seconds to realize I was crying, it was THAT intense O__O

I won't spoil anything, but let's just say it creeped the shit out of me, and the images are still haunting me O.o They're just really powerful, so they have a tendency to mill around in my brain. . .

Sorry I haven't gotten much in the way of art up lately. Midterms have come around, and the big pic I've been working on is currently on hold for that reason and one other.

The concept/layout of the picture was already done by somebody else, and I had seen that picture before starting my own, even though I didn't remember seeing that picture until I had finished the base coloring of my own T___T Now I'm afraid that if I finish and post it, the original author would be ticked and I could get myself in trouble. The poses are different enough, but I really don't want to be seen as copying somebody else, even though nobody is ever truly original.

. . . back to HW I guess. . .

I'm back from Oklahoma (FINALLY) and I'm glad to be back in the desert. Would you believe the weather is better here than in OK? Not so much with the humidity here.

Uhm. . . tomorrow, we're going to Santa Monica for a day of fun on 3rd Street Promenade, and on the way, we're stopping by a bow shop to order my bow for archery! I'm getting an Hoyt UltraTec compound bow :3

Sat: 12:30-3:30 Engin 77
-Waaa!! This final has made me miserable. It was 20 pages long, and the last 6 were on stuff we didn't exactly cover. . . AT ALL. I know that because I've been to all (minus one) lectures, was always in lab, and looked at all the homework (no, I didn't do it all, but I went back and confirmed that the stuff on those 6 pages were indeed not even in the homework.)
I fucking hated that class (Woo-hoo! I get to use past-tense now!!. . . unless I fail. . . which is likely. . . )

Sat: 5:00-8:00 Peace and Conflict Studies
-Meh, this one wasn't so bad. I had two essays to write. The first one I feel like I did pretty good on. The second one made reference to some person who I had no idea existed. So I wrote the essay on something relevant to the alluded-to topic that the question asked about. . . if that sentence made any sense to you, bravo! I don't even care right now, actually. These are just my post-exam mini-rants!

Mon: 12:30-3:30 Phys 7A
This one wasn't so bad. It would clearly seperate the A students from the F students I'll tell ya that! XD I had major cramps during the test -sigh- That was annoying. . . meh, nothing too remarkable about this final I guess. One more left!! (and it's math -stabs math books-)

Fri: 12:30-3:30 Math 1B
Meh. . . I was more frightened of it than I should've been. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't the asshole test he gave us for our second midterm. It's one of the finals I've taken in which I'm certain I didn't fail it XD

Overall: My room is packed. . . it's kinda sad. The hall is empty and the walls are bare, and I can't wait for my parents to get here tomorrow morning. Oh, and my space-cadet roommate still has half of her stuff here. We're supposed to be checked out by 10am tomorrow. . . grrr. . . it's not my problem I guess.

It's weird. When I first got here, I was said because I was alone. Now that I'm leaving, I'm sad that I have to leave so many friends I know I'll see my friends again though, both over the summer and next year, but it's still kinda sad. I can't just say to myself "Lizzie would like this!" then run to her room. . . I have to actually e-mail or call her about it.

I. Hate. Chem. That's all there is to it. I'm so glad I finished the final, I'm just a bit worried about whether or not I pass the class T_T

Tomorrow afternoon I get on a plane to Las Vegas, where I'll spend the rest of the week getting pampered with my mom. Then the drive home on Saturday! At that time I'll do some serious art catching up (scanning, putting up etc) Soon after, I go to New York for Christmas

Hmm... Oh! A friend took me to an art store on the other side of campus :3 It was so purty! I got myself a new metal erasing shield while there.

Remember those pictures I drew using someone else's tablet? For some odd reason, I decided to draw the person who was letting me use her computer. Little did I know that I would be drawing a chibi-picture of everyone in my suite (20+ girls!)

I'm finally up in UC Berkeley, and it has been quite a transition. It's foggy in the early morning and late evening, but during the day it all clears up. The campus itself is one the side of a hill, and my dorm is on the top part of that. It's nice to walk down it, but going up is a different story XD

There is tons of stuff to do up here, and classes haven't started yet. I bought most of my books and did the stupid thing and walked up the hill with them. My hands hurt for a couple of hours after that

Anyway, I finally got internet access in my room, thus I am typing this to all who wants to read it. I have lots of stuff up, and I should really get a picture of it, but I'm being incredably lazy

Well, if anyone has any questions regarding specific details, I'm all ears. I don't usually write these journal things, so I don't put that much effort into them when I DO write them.

I think i have reason to be happy. First semester is almost over, and i'm looking to have maybe 3 finals (out of six classes, that's not bad ) I've been working on my yondaime (fourth hokage) cosplay, and it's turning out pretty good so far, even though i haven't even really done any real work on it.

It's raining like something outside right now. It's been raining all of today, most of yesterday, and on friday morning we got about an inch (or two, i can never tell) of snow at our school! School was canceled after 3rd period

nope, not being angsty. Today i literally went through blood and rain. We're finally getting some much-needed rain out here in the dry High Desert, and i'm loving the wind and rain as it blows past the house.

Ahem... back to my day. Today after school was the first time i've ever given blood ^___^ the needle was hella sharp and hurt like a bitch when it went in. For the 10ish minutes it took to drain me of 1 pint of blood, it felt like i had a 2x4 sized splinter in my arm okay, i'm really exagerrating. To put it in better perspective for me and my minimal pain was that the blood i didn't need was being taken out of me by a relatively painless process to give to another who'd gone through much more pain and needed that blood.

Bleh, i'm being wordy XD.
