I just came back from dance camp (8 days of dancing from 8am to 10pm) Where among other things, me and my dancing friends learnt the Can Can, (this dance includes at least 72 kicks, 10 splits and numerous other extrememly tiring, muscle killing steps) and have now found that my muscles have declared war against my brain, mostly for what they think is abuse. Well, I may not have been updating any visual art, but I've certainly working on enough performance art to keep me busy

As for the weekend? I think I may have a good trip to the gallery to see the Salvidor Dali exhibition, call my boss, and then have a lovely meeting for work on sunday, so that I may start of the new term on monday, completely rested mind and body... ok, maybe not so much rested, but definetly eager! Bring on the practise exams!

I'm swimming in the deep end at the moment (because I'm not shallow..tehe) but I see the land in the distance. Land ho!

Being a notoriously silly person with a love for terrible, eye-burning and mind combustible poetry, I've decided to hold a competition!

The "Bad Poetry and Prose Competition" will be accepting entries from the 10th to the 31st of May, 2009, GMT +10:00. The winners will be announced on June the 7th GMT +10:00, with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, as well as an HM or two, depending on the amount of support this competition receives.

Entering:
To define the word 'bad' in terms of this competition, it does not mean neglecting the use of grammatical skill, but instead, the use of outrageous cliches, ridiculous plots and similes that would make any well read scholar cry of shame. I encourage absolutely anyone to enter, and there are no limitations on how long your entry must be, however if your entry consists no words at all, That will not possibly be accepted into the competition, because in many cases, no poetry can be defined as good poetry.

If you are judging, you cannot submit an entry. If you are entering, send me a note entitled "Bad P/P Competition" with a link to your entry, and the description of the entry must specify that it is a part of this competition. Your entry will also only be accepted if it is received with in the dates supplied above.

So far, my judges are

Competition rules are thus:
All entries:
are to be either poetry or prose,
must supply in the description an acknowledgement of it being an entry to this competition,
must be your OWN work,
must be submitted at the appropriate time,
you may only enter once,

If entries are obviously without thought or effort, they will not be considered.

Being a complete nerd and geek (loser, freak etc, which ever you want to call me) I play World of Warcraft! Yes! Just before Christmas, my belfadin dinged 80! Congratulations Cheitza!

What this is all pointing to is that for a christmas present, my absolutely sublime sister ([link])went through a lot of effort to draw a portrait of my previously mentioned toon. An absolutely stunning image that I adore, and I have the pleasure of posting it here as my first ever feature! (Make sure to check out the rest of her gallery too, she's amazing!)

I find a good way of making friends or aquointences (spelling error, ba bow...) is by putting one of the watch tabs on my main DA page as the "newest" art. It's a good way of seeing newer or less experienced artist's work and nothing is better to find someone has discovered your work and has something either positive or helpful (or both!) to say about your work!

If you see something you don't like, figure out what you don't like and find a polite way of explaining it to the artist without being harsh! If you like something or the picture gives you a feeling, let the artist know! Even if it seems they get so many comments that they wouldn't listen to yours! The more poular artists are probably sick of hearing "great work!" all the time and they might enjoy having someone make polite comments on things they may be able to improve on, most of them like hearing insights about their work, whether it's praise or C&C!

Comment on everything! Go nuts!

Of course not knowing many people at a new years party can be a little rough, and you don't know who to talk to, what to talk about and have many general insecurities about being there at all. Now, I love to dance. That's right, love. Capital "L", exclamation mark, Bold, Italic, Underline. No question mark. So when you combine an energetic me, good music, a dance floor and best friend only too willing to join me, you end up with a crazy girl who happens to spend the entire evening bopping, salsa-ing, tangoing, waltzing and contemporarying (?) on the dance floor. Unfortunetly a few other dancers were not paying attention and I got a stiletto in my foot. Should have worn steel capped boots >.<

However, my friend and I weren't the only ones dancing, people of all (I lie, only really the 30+) age groups were getting up to dance and having a grand time. The best part of this evening however, was when the group of people I was with started doing the traditional circle dances to whatever music was playing. we had no problem including every other dancer on the floor into our fun. I found myself at one point holding hands in the circle with people I didn't know on either side... But what did it matter? There wasn't a single frown in that sea of faces and you certainly couldn't miss the laughter and loud jokes (I didn't understand any of them) being thrown around.

I was a foreigner to the people there, I couldn't speak their language and some of them couldn't speak mine either. But that didn't stop the flow of conversation or the large silly smiles. A large group of people who had never met eachother before came together for a night and made a new family to celebrate new years with, even if the family may never see the other members again, it was all cheer, love, dancing and acceptance.

To conclude=
I just had the best new years of my life!
....
and my feet are still sore... party animal...

It makes one feel a little cheated when they comment on the brilliance and then discover the brilliance is really fraud. I'm more than positive the origional artist feels about ten times worse as the origional image may have had emotional value.
So art theives, you're doing no-one any favors and it may make you look good for a while, the end result is far worse than the reputation of an honest, less talented artist. Get a life.

BUT!
Go origional artists and i wish luck to everyone else in the inner beauty contest! I'm so excited!

For those who don't know, I'm crazy with my art, I draw in a different style for almost all of my pics (I like experimenting) (all the time) and I also do different things like photos, photo edits and creating strange things with anything that happens to be on hand at the time, like HB grey lead pencils or a large abount of tree bark. (woof!)

however, I'm quite often not satisfyed with my work so I'm not the type to go posting frequently
