Hi guys
I know I haven't been very active these last couple of months, but I have a good reason this time. My cheap-ass graphic tablet has been playing up, so my artwork has been on hold.

I don't know when I'll get a replacement. I looked on ebay for a cheap WACOM tablet, but even those aren't THAT cheap (I guess it's because WACOM is the industry standard). I may just save up for one for Christmas.

This means I won't be doing any commissions for a bit, but that doesn't mean I'm disappearing all together! I encourage my friends to keep in contact with me via the usual channels. It's because of you guys that I do what I do here on DA, so don't hesitate to drop me a note or comment, I appreciate them all.

I'll still be around faving and commenting, so don't worry. I may just drop in some drafts and other ideas on her to fill in the gaps until I can return to 100% active duty again.

Thanks again
- Roy

PS
When I'm back in action, you will be the first to know! ~_^

Things kinda ground to a halt while I took some time out to do another beginners class in Japanese last month. Before you ask, no I'm not fluent yet! Japanese is hard, damn it! T_T I am getting better though, all those weird sqwiggles known as Hiragana and Katagana are starting to make more sense now. Perhaps in the future I can start adding Japanese words alongside the English ones in my artwork to get more Japanese fans! ^_^

Anyway, the two commissions I was working on have just been completed, so two more slots have just opened up! Please feel free to talk to me about any ideas you might have, and I'll see what I can do for you! The details are below.

Here's my commission rates:

Black & White
1 Character = $5
2 or more characters = +$2

Colour
1 Character = $8
2 or more characters = +$3

Backgrounds
Basic = +$2
Detailed = +$5

What this means is each project will be tailor made to the person's desires.

For example:

2 Characters Colour = $8+3 = $11
Basic background = +$2 = $13

Total = $13

As for content, your best bet to figuring out what I can do is to look at my gallery and see the kinds of things I'm into. A good rule of thumb is, the more unusual the idea, the more interested I'll be!

I will give all requests consideration and let you know whether I can do it or not.

To contact me, either send me a note or email me at raijinzz@gmail.com

Oh! I forgot to mention that I'm only accepting payment via Paypal at the moment.

And lastly, I'm gonna be running a 3 slot system. It's first come first served, so if my journal post shows all my slots are full, you may have to wait a while. Please be patient! I'm still new at this! =3

Slots
1. Empty
2.
I'm still in the middle of a couple of commissions right now, but I'm finding it hard to motivate myself.

Think about it. You've spent a lot of time on one piece of artwork to make it look the absolute best that you can, and you reach new levels of quality. Everyone that you've shown it to totally loves it and says it's your best work to date!

The only problem is, now you're expected to consistently produce each subsequent piece if art at that level! Sufficed to say, it's a bit off-putting!

I haven't given up, I just need a bit more time to recover from creative fatigue. The art will keep coming, so please be patient!

Righty oh! It took a VERY long time, but I've finally come up with what I hope is a reasonable price list that covers most, if not all of the conceivable requests I might get. As I mentioned before, there is room for negotiation because I'm still relatively new at this. Here's the list:

Black & White
1 Character = $5
2 or more characters = +$2

Colour
1 Character = $8
2 or more characters = +$3

Backgrounds
Basic = +$2
Detailed = +$5

Per day service
1 day = +$3
Every extra day = +$2

What this means is each project will be tailor made to the person's desires. For example:

2 Characters Colour = $8+3 = $11
Basic background = +$2 = $13
Per day service 1 day = +$3 = $16

Total = $16

I don't plan to charge for more than one day unless the commission takes a REALLY long time, because I won't be spending the whole day on one (toilet breaks, lunch breaks, etc).

As for content, your best bet to figuring out what I can do is to look at my gallery and see the kinds of things I'm into. A good rule of thumb is, the more unusual the idea, the more interested I'll be!

I will give all requests consideration and let you know whether I can do it or not!

To contact me, either send me a note or email me at raijinzz@gmail.com

And lastly, I'm gonna be running a 3 slot system. It's the only way I know to increase my exposure and get some business running.

So far I've gotten a few requests from some good friends, so my slots are full at the mo. As soon as things free up, I'll let everyone know. I'm going with a two-slot active, 4 slot waiting system in the how that I can have a high turnover without overloading myself with demand!

I'm also working on a commission quote/price list for subsequent jobs. The difficulty is knowing how much to charge, so I'm gonna leave a lot of room for negotiation regarding content and my skill level.

At the time, I thought it was okay to put my hentai art alongside my normal art, but recent events have made me think differently. I draw way more hentai than regular stuff, and it's a pain to censor my stuff just so I can get it onto DA when there are other sites that don't have a problem showing dick and pussy.

I want to keep a strong line between my hentai and normal work, so I will see if I can begin removing all my H-art in order to clean up this account (although my favs will stay, no point getting rid of those). This is a personal choice, no one is forcing my hand or anything. I just want to make it easier for me in the future to decide which of my art is good clean enough for DA without wasting time on censorship (which I hate).

For anyone who wants to see my uncensored stuff, I will redirect them to my blog:
[link]

There might be another site I submit work to, but I still need to sort that out.

I want to formally appologise to those people who will be inconvenienced by this, but I promise I'm not going anywhere, just getting my priorities straight.

As an upshot, I'm going back to basics and analysis my drawing skills to look at areas where I can improve. This should mean future work by be should be of a much higher quality (fingers crossed!).

Thanks and stay tuned!

It's my birthday today, but to be honest, I just don't care. Life has never been going that smoothly for me. I don't have much money, or many friends. To cap it off, the fact that I've gotten 1 year older just makes me realise just how little time I have left to achieive all that I want to do in life.

You'd be surprised how many people have told me to just throw caution to the wind and embrace my dreams. They say that for others to want to help you, you have to help yourself. Unfortunately, every time I've tried has pretty much failed miserably. I feel like I'm trapped in an invisible box, and no one is willing to tell me how to find the exit.

Sorry to sound so negative. It just feels like I'm much happier with my internet persona than I am with my real self. Tell me if you haven't heard that before! -_-,

Anyway, have a nice day, I know I probably won't!

I can certainly understand the dificulty of finding and fixing bugs on a relatively new system, but it really kills my motivation to add new stuff if each time I fill in the submission form and click send, my screen tells me an error has occured meaning I have no choice but go back and fill in the form all over again!

I'm not saying anything bad against the guys that run DA, I'm grateful they've given me such a wonderful place to showcase my talent and share my interests with other like minded artists.
Today I went to the London Expo at the ExCel Centre, near Canary Wharf. I went there last year, but some minor technical difficulties meant that I arrived a little late, and very tired.

This time was much more straightforward, and I had a lot more fun too! There were a load of people dressed up as their favourite characters from various anime series like Full Metal Alchemist, One Piece and Naruto.

The place was filled with all manner of sights and sounds. There were stalls relating to manga and anime, American comics, sci-fi, video games, movie trailers and competitions.

I even took the time to try out some WACOM graphic tablet they were demo-ing at the anime village, and did a couple of random sketches for the competition they were running.

I took a lot of video footage on my mobile phone, which when I have time, I’ll upload them onto my blog.

I seriously recommend this event to anyone in the London who even has a passing interest in anime and manga!

I'm currently taking time off from work to do a 1 week, intensive course in Japanese!

I know that might sound a little crazy to some people, but for me, I just see it as the next logical step for me going to Japan one day (kinda a life-long dream).

It's amazing to realise just how little I ACTUALLY know about the country I've chosen as my promised land, so it's good that I'm getting all these stupid anime misconceptions out of my head as soon as possible!

It's only been one lesson, but already I'm totally overwhelmed by the different new phrases I have to learn like Onamae wa? Okuni wa? Oshigoto wa? Goshumi wa? I’m finding myself saying “Roy, what the heck have you gotten yourself into THIS TIME!!” I’m not too worried though, it’s not like I have to go to Japan next week or anything. I just wanted to get the ball rolling, get over my apprehension at just how HUGE the language barrier I’ll have to jump. As they always say, one step at a time!

Just so you know, I'm learning at the International House London (near Tottenham Court Road), and my teacher is a Mrs Saori Ford (Saori Sensei). She's Japanese, but I'm assuming that by her surname she's either married to a western guy or she might have some western blood in her (I don't think so though, she's very Japanese!) She’s kinda cute (for an older woman), and I think I should at least come away with something useful at the end of the week!

I just cleaned out my laptop by using the restore disk that came with it. I would wholeheartedly encourage others to do the same if they find that their machine is running sluggishly, or has had errors in the past that still can still affect it later on.

There is virtually NO guarantee that a machine that is connected to the internet will not become infected in some way or another.

I had to learn the hard way to finally understand that point (especially considering the kind of filth I look at on the net!). I'm just lucky that I was able to get my machine back on track. I'm definately going to be more cautious in future!

I gotta say, despite all the crap that's going on in my life at the moment, the fact that I'm finally on DA gives me a sense of hope for a better, more fun future for me.

For a while now, I've known that being a member of DA is kinda like hitting the big time for artists. Here, the work that you do can be seen by people all over the world. People can be drawn to what you do dependent on the kind of things you're into, thus giving you the chance to converse with like minded individuals (I'm starting to sound posh, aren't I!)

Above all else, the fact that at some point, I may even be able to make some money from my art means that unlike my current situation in the UK, the possibilities are endless!

The only thing that's cheering me up is that I can finally upload my art on DeviantArt!
