I understand you want to draw a character differently. I like doing that too. In fact, I do do it and I love to do it. But I also think that a character should always retain some of their unique aspects, especially when it comes to strong identifying traits such as face structure and hair.

Case in point, Princess Garnet. I think she has an absolutely exquisite design, and her face is gorgeous—cherubic in shape with dainty features, like the nose and mouth. Yet I see fanart of her where she looks like such a generic, hastily drawn anime girl with sloppy undefined hair that it really is almost an insult to her beauty.

Kuja's even worse. He does NOT have a generic bishounen face and I can't get over how many people draw him miles away from how he's supposed to look by giving him one.

Basically what I'm saying is, use your style to flatter a character's uniqueness and not make them look like their faces were copy-pasted from all of your other drawings or a How to Draw Manga book. Experimenting with different styles is fabulous, but without knowing how to implement it correctly you do a character and your drawing a great disservice.

That being said, I acknowledge I may be guilty of the above in some respects myself. But hey, practice makes perfect! 8D And in case you were wondering, yes, this rant was indeed triggered by fugly Garnet fanart.

Just the kind of gritty, fucked up, gruesome, action-packed manga I like, with a cute lil' fairy boy to boot! The monster designs are intriguingly bizarre and I really like the diversity of characters (Rickert is my favorite from the Hawks~). But yeah, it took me a while to get over that scene. You know which one I'm talking about--the one with the rape. Wait, nevermind. xD There's like fifty of them.

It's funny, cause I'm reading the dialogue and every now and then there will be a message that transcends the manga and really touches my heart. Every chapter leaves me hanging on edge, and I just can't get enough. x3 I'm forcing myself to go to sleep now and leaving off on chapter 1 of volume 22.

Oh yeah, and Griffith is a fucking slut.

I just finished Samurai Turnabout and the game just keeps getting better and better. It's like, Harvey Birdman, but more serious and sans the Hannah-Barbara characters. The female characters are really likeable too, and that always earns points from me. So far, it's definately lived up to what everyone has said about it.

Lol, srsly though, I love how straight-laced and easily weirded out Phoenix is! x3 Haha, and Edgeworth's face is so priceless when he gets flustered, especially by his own witnesses. I really like the game's wacky sense of humor.

Argh... it's just so... touching... ;__; I m-must play more...
