OMG, my boss decided to bump me up to full-time early, so if you're wondering why i've been DEAD, that's why. Seems i never have time to work on anything lately, what with fixing up the new trailer and writing/recording vocal tracks and there's this convention saturday and birthdays and last weekend i was dead puking everywhere. Meh. Busy busy busy.

I do still OCCASIONALLY take commissions, but right now i'm overbooked and trying to finish them all up. So don't ask till i say i'm open again. Unless you want to pay a CRAPLOAD of money for one, in which case go right ahead.

SO... i'm officially a rock singer. I got to go sing and hang out at one of the band's previously booked gigs last night, and OMG was it fun. Beer, music, friends... doesn't get any better. I only did one song on my own, as it was the only one i've really had a chance to practice with the band on before last night, and the rest of the time i did back-up vocals or just hung out. 'Twas awesome. Another singer for another band said i did awesome and that i needed to sing more songs on my own with the band! She was really nice. And of course everyone in the band said i did awesome. Whoot. Of course, there was this one lady who kept making "eew" faces at me while i was up there, but maybe she just had a bad taste in her mouth... *sigh* It freaked me out. I thought she was gonna throw a tomato at me or something. But everyone else said i did fine so who cares. I might be going with the band to Idaho next weekend for two shows as well, depending on how much they need me, how much i get to practice with them this week and what all i have to do commission-wise. We'll see. ^_^

As for COMMISSIONS, i'm afraid they are CLOSED for now. I suddenly find myself with too much work to do and very little time to do it in. So unless i already said i would draw something for you, it will have to wait until i get through with some of the ones i've got now. If you have plenty of time to wait and still want to note me, though, i can put you on a waiting list. It could be anywhere from 2 weeks to a month before i have an open slot, though. So yeah...

OMG... and... for the first time in years, i have friends. Not just any friends, and not someone else's friends. MY VERY OWN FRIENDS. And i made them myself! And they aren't made of cardboard! XD Yay for friends and hanging out. I have my band friends and a gamer friend and my new publishing buddy friend and my old-but-recently-new friend and i'm just friend-tastic!

First off, i'm auditioning for a band Tuesday. They had me come in yesterday to watch them play, and it's looking like i'll be their new lead vocalist (so long as i don't royally screw up Tuesday night). The guy that started the band also wants to teach me to play bass, though it's been a long time. Whoot. The band plans to go up to Idaho in February to play with *gasp* Bruce Willis at his very own club. I might get to go, and if they take me on, i'll be singing there in April. XD On top of that, i got contacted from an agency for some acting and modeling gigs coming up in the next week or two, so hopefully that will work out. They seemed excited to sign me. Plus, it's looking like i'll be the lead editor for a new startup magazine for teens, but i'm doing that one for free until the new publishing company takes off. But should it take off (and i'm not too busy with everything else), it'll be really nice. Oh, and i'll be hearing from a big publisher in SLC next week as to whether they might have an opening for a contract editor, which pays quite nicely.

I HATE HURRICANES.

Thankfully, not much was damaged. Just had to put the shutters back up, as they had been visiting the neighbors yard while i was away. Just got power back today, over a week after the storm and two weeks after evacuations. Stupid Texas.

Soooo. If you've been waiting for a commission, i'm SORRY. But not much you can do without a computer nowadays. So hopefully by this weekend i'll be catching up. Hopefully.

I HATE ART THEFT.

It appears someone in Hong Kong stole the drawing of the dogs from my gallery and posted it on ebay as mouse pads. Nice of them, eh?

So thanks to them, i'll be taking down most of my art, and the rest of it will be watermarked. So if there is something other than fanart or recent work you want me to keep up, let me know now. By the end of the week, i will hopefully have already weeded my gallery down to 50 at most, probably less than that. I'll also try to start a new, private, password-protected gallery of all my other stuff on another site, obviously not photobucket (do you know how much of my DL fanart has been stolen on that site???).

No, the title isn't supposed to make sense. So... Thanksgiving has come and gone. This year i spent thanksgiving with my parents. It was a day of great company and great food. Then today, we decorated the house and tree. I caught a white cockatiel on my roof today, too. It came right to me, so i got it a cage and some bird stuff. Not sure if it's a boy or girl, though i guess i'll find out when i take it to the vet for a check-up. Christmas should be fun, too. Going to spend it with the two awesomes mentioned above just like thanksgiving. Things are going really great for me right now, excluding work. I'm a bit frustrated that i can't work on my writing and art commissions as much, since i got this teaching job. The kids drive me bonkers, and sometimes i want to shoot myself when fifth period rolls around. Those kids try their best to make me insane. I'll be done with that December 21, then i won't have to worry about it anymore. Yay for that. I'm ready to give them back. I don't think i'll be doing that again unless i am teaching at college level. That would be awesome. But i have to get more credentials to do that, so, starting around christmas time, for now my art and writing will have to get me by. Which i don't mind. Well, it's bedtime for me, so goodnight all.

Lmao... not what you thought it would be, huh? At least i got your attention.

So here's a little update before my riotous 5th period class gets here. I'm subbing for a high school art teacher until christmas, which means i actually have to teach her class and grade their assignments. I basically do everything a normal teacher does except i have to give the students back in december. Since i have to work every day now, commissions are running a bit slow. So sadly, i cannot start any new commissions until december 21. Drawings make great christmas presents, people. So if you want something before christmas, you'll have to let me know now so i can write it down. It'll be a rush job, but i won't charge a rush fee.

Please see the shoutboard for tentative pricing. If you really want a pretty picture, i will work with you on pricing. Especially if you ask real nice like. Repeat customers get nice discounts. I also offer discounts for multiple assignments (i.e. if you want three drawings rather than just one).

Now for a quick update. For those of you who don't know already, i quit my job at the publisher. It sucked and i couldn't take it anymore. I told them i got a job with a confidential company working out of my home. The truth is that i'll be doing commissions, both art and writing. So it was only a bit of a stretch. ^_^

We gots a new puppy! Yay for puppies! ^_^ I'll prolly post a photo of him in a few days or so.

I'm not saying anything else except that i am having way more fun than you. I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival yesterday. That place is so cool. Got me hair braided all neat like and shot some arrows and bolts at some targets and lots of other cool stuffs. Oh, and i'm a princess now. You may call me by my proper name, Princess Raiyne. Whee. Of course, that means i will have to go out in disguises from now on so no one will recognize me. Ah, well.

So i'm sitting here thinking about my job. I haven't worked a full day since last tuesday. I have NOTHING to do, so i come home early. And i get paid for it. I would love to get paid for actually doing something, but hey. Who's complaining?

Actually, i am. I thought i was going to be an "Editorial Assistant," or at least that is what the job description said. Turns out i'm a glorified sales rep and secretary. So far, i take orders, deal with whining customers, type up crap for my boss's other job (teaching), and pick up other employees' kids from school. What fun. Real editing there. That's using my summa cum laude English degree.

But then again, there's not really much else to do in this area besides minimum wage crap. So i guess i'm fairly lucky. I just wish it was more... idunno... professional. Or credible. Or reliable. Or full-time. Or... well... English-related.

I'd love to be able to edit... i.e. proofread and suggest better writing... but it's hard to do that for a "publisher" that only publishes their own directories. I still can't even accurately describe what those directories are. I think editing books would be my favorite job. But for now i'm stuck with a company that can't figure out what they want to be called.

Not to mention the monstrosity that became the flyer. So let's see... 1)Supervisor asks me to design flyer for new edition; 2)I design for free and outside of my job description said flyer (which looked awesome, btw); 3)Supervisor's supervisor changes a few small things and loves it and respects my knowledge and know-how regarding marketing and design; 4)Supervisor comes behind and makes me change flyer so that it makes no sense, is no longer appealing, and looks completely retarded. Needless to say, i will not be doing anymore freebies. Anyone else (i.e. graphic designers) would have charged about $300-400 for that flyer, whereas all i got was a headache. Actually, a couple of headaches. And i hate when people that don't know what they're talking about screw with my design. Not only did it change the look and flow of the flyer, but it made it make absolutely no sense.

I can't really divulge any other information regarding the job right now. But if anything changes i'll prolly update it on here when i'm bored.

Speaking of bored, guess what i did at work today...

I drew an anime sketch on paper, a 'Stapler of Doom' in paint, and I chatted with my mom in emails, all for four hours. And i got paid $12/hr. for 8 hours (even though i only worked 4 today) to do it. So sad.

Oh yeah, and i watched 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' in my spare time today when i got home. You know, the 1992 version with Anthony Hopkins? Well, everyone (including me) loves Anthony, but MY GOD THAT MOVIE SUCKED! Lots of blood and grossness. Any story? Not really...

NEwho, hear about the florida kid that got tasered? What makes me angry is when my coworkers see it for the first time and laugh. He asked a question and got a dose of police brutality. How is that humorous? My favorite part is when they laughed at the kid screaming for help.

And it doesn't end there. I got to listen to a bunch of republicans talking about christianity and how jesus is more important than politics. No offense to you republicans out there, but that is not what i want to hear at work... from politicians... at work.

Why is religion so important in an election. Does it not matter for many intelligent people out there who have found christianity to be, say, a hypocritical means to control the masses?

Anime Portraits
A portrait of you or the person/people of your choice drawn in anime style from reference photo(s).

One Person
Lineart - $30
Cel-shaded, simple background - $40
Cel-shaded, complicated background - $50-60

Two or More People
Lineart - $40
Cel-shaded, simple background - $60
Cel-shaded, complicated background - $85-100

Character Design
A drawing of the character of your choice (whether original or fanart) in the pose and drawing style of your choice. Price varies depending upon how many poses you want the character(s) in.

Single Pose
Lineart - $30-45
Cel-shaded, simple background - $45-60
Cel-shaded, complicated background - $50-60

Multiple Poses
Lineart - $40-50
Cel-shaded, simple background - $50-75
Cel-shaded, complicated background - $75-100

Other Styles
I have also done commissions in a variety of other styles, such as Disney and realism. Note me your idea and i will get back to you with pricing options.

I typically will not charge more than $100 per drawing, unless of course you request something ridiculously difficult/time-consuming. Price can also vary depending upon the time frame the image is to be completed (i.e. Price will go up if you need the drawing done in a short time).

I understand that these prices can get a bit high, especially for the drawings involving alot of detail work. If you can present me with a reasonable argument, I may offer a discount. I also offer discounts from time to time for repeat customers.

So i guess i should do a real update now. Things are a bit different, but pretty much more of the same. First the different.

-I graduated summa cum laude from college with a BA in English. I have no idea how. In addition, i now have a job as an editorial assistant with a small publishing company. Yay me. It's a pretty cool job, too. Stress-free, relaxed atmosphere, cool people, and i don't have to meet with customers face-to-face. Woot.

-I'm attending Oni-Con in Houston in October. And guess who will be there... The guys who voiced Ed Elric and Roy Mustang from FMA. Oh, yes. Glompage. ^_^ My sister and i will be going as Jade Curtiss and Dist the Rose.

Now the same.

-I still live with my parents for now, at least until i've saved up enough to get my own place.

-I'm still working on commissions and such through deviantART, so don't be shy with the commissions just because i have a real job. I still love drawing. Oh, and i'll be posting a commissions entry for pricing and such soon.
