I finished the comic book yesterday and am now DYING to see it. The film sounds and looks like it's going to be absolutely amazing, and of everyone I know who's seen it (not many), they say it's fantastic. It is supposed to be pretty violent though, which is a bit of a problem for me because I get squeamish when it comes to body parts being separated. In the book, there was a lot of punching, some stabbing, shooting, etc, and I'm okay with that, but there are also bones breaking in closeup, I think a guy gets his arm cut off, etc, and THAT, I'm not okay with.

So can someone give me an idea of exactly how violent the film is? Like, even if some scenes are intense, is there enough space between them for the film to be enjoyable without watching them?

Also, I'm pretty sure it died, but I do have a contest running: [link]

Stole this from Avyris:

1. Being Gay Is Not Natural, and real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning, tattoos, piercings and silicon breasts...

2. Gay Marriage Will Encourage People To Be Gay In the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing Gay Marriage Will Open The Door To All Kinds Of Crazy Behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. Lamps are next.

4. Straight Marriage Has Been Around A Long Time And Hasn't Changed At All, hence why women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight Marriage Will Be Less Meaningful If Gay Marriage Were Allowed, and we can't let the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage be destroyed.

6. Straight Marriages Are Valid Because They Produce Children, so therefore, gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our population isn't out of control, our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously Gay Parents Will Raise Gay Children, since, of course, straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay Marriage Is Not Supported By Religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children Can Never Succeed Without A Male And A Female Role Model, which is exactly why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay Marriage Will Change The Foundation Of Society; We Could Never Adapt To New Social Norms, just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

---

Also, I have a contest running: [link]

I realize I don't have many watchers, but I thought I would give a contest a try, especially now I'm getting better at my own art so I can provide actual prizes.
I'm toying with the idea of having a halloween-type party instead of going out costuming, for the Alice-in-Wonderland themed madness. That way we wouldn't be sweating, wouldn't have to bother with walking around town and stuff, and fewer people will be out of town.

I'm thinking the premise would be a Mad Tea Party hosted by the Mad Hatter (a friend of mine), complete with a huge table and mismatched chairs -- and costumery, of course. Maybe I'd get five or so friends to coordinate it, in terms of food (eat me!), decor, whateverness. And the whole thing would have a GOTHIC flavor. That means black and pink Cheshire Cat with blood-spattered kitty fangs. Hooray.

But anyway, again, if anyone has any ideas, I'd be delighted to hear them.

---

In other news, I'm going to be in a production of Twelfth Night this summer, hopefully as Viola, so that'll be cool.

---

I also really want some inspiration, so if anyone has a fun-to-draw fursona or whatnot, send me a link so I can draw them. No strings attached. Unless your fursona is a puppet.

---

I LOVE YOU.

For those of you that don't know, I live in New Orleans. In New Orleans, we have this big, as in large, as in huge holiday called Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday). And on Mardi Gras and leading up to it, people dress up and party. A lot. It all leads up to Lent. I've always done something nifty for Mardi Gras day, usually costuming with my friend who lives in the French Quarter (where the biggest partying goes on). Like this year she and I and a couple others made cavegirl/caveman outfits. Year before that, we were Siamese twins. Et cetera.

Next year, I wanna get organized, I wanna do something flashy, and I wanna get more people involved.

The solution? Alice in Wonderland. I already have eight or so friends who want to work on it with me. I've Googled it and looked through DA for ideas, and I think I have some good ones. I'd just like to have some more! So, I thought I'd ask a bunch of artists what they think I should do.

I want to kind of update the costumes -- make them cheaper to make and more with this time period than with the 1850s. Converse shoes, leggings, that kinda stuff. So if you think of anything, reply to this, I guess. Show me deviations about it, quotes, just write out some ideas, whatever you feel like. If you wanted to sketch something, that would be fan-flippin-tastic. Thanks, all.

And by the way, I think this is what will end up happening with the characters:

We will probably end up having Alice, the White Rabbit, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat (me), the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the Queen of Hearts. There may also be the Duchess, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dodo, the Dormouse, the King/Knave of Hearts, and Humpty Dumpty. Alice, the Rabbit, the Cat, the Queen, and the Duchess will probably be girls; the Caterpillar, Hatter, and Hare will probably be guys; the others could go either way.

Any takers?

---

In other news, I'm still looking for inspiration, so if you feel like sending me a character sheet I'd be verreh verreh glad to draw a character of yours, no strings attached.

In other news, I got a Chorus part in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

In other news, I'm on Spring Break, so booyah, bitches.

First, that's a good album by P!nk.

Second, no, I'm not dead, I've just been having a good non-computer life. For what I've missed, happy Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Hanukkah.

Now, I have two main points.

First of all: I saw a play on Thursday called Dog Sees God. It was originally an off-Broadway show with Ian Somerhalder, America Ferarra, and the kid from American Pie. It closed awhile ago, and the acting students at a college here did it last week and the week before. It's fantastic. It's a parody of the Peanuts comic strip, only ten years later. Linus is a pothead; Lucy is a pyromaniac; Marcy and Peppermint Patty vodka-swilling bimbos; Pigpen is a very clean (but dirty-mouthed) jock; Schroeder is a tortured soul whose dad abused him -- and most importantly of all, he develops a relationship with good old Charlie Brown. It's really great, and if you have a chance, you should totally see it.

Anyway.

I've also been adopted as an artist! Say hello to my mommy

Dude... sixteen! Soooo closeness! Fwahahahahaha!

In other news, I was in Provincetown, Mass. for Family Week last week, which was and always is freaking awesome. For you non-COLAGErs out there, it's for kids with LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi, or trans) parents. They have various entertaining workshops, a dance, a movie night (previously a bonfire, but P-town made a new law that bonfires can't exceed 20 people... damn!), and stuff like that for kids from third through twelfth grade. I did the drag workshop; the five guys and one counsellor did a Spice Girls number, and we seven girls plus the other counsellor did Sexy Back. In drag. Poor Wes, I stole his shirt and haven't given it back. Ah well.

I did, however, post a pic of my wonderful fursona (I've had her about two months now but this is the closest I've come to a final design), 100% mouseart done over three days. Yay me, pats on the back, snaps for razzy and all.

I also ordered a collar off the coolest site ever: Collar Factory ([link]). It's black leather with blue sheepskin lining, blue stitching, a centered ring and the word PEACE on the side. Totally awesome, can't wait to get it. They let you customize your own... very neat. It should get here about Wednesday.
I'm not proud; I admit it, I need the practice. I also need inspiration, motivation, and other such things that ending with tion. So please, can someone ask me to draw their character? Like, anyone that happens to read this, I'm not picky. And I don't mean to sound pissed or bitter, either, I just really do need practice and am not motivated to do any studies or work on my own. It's sad, I know, and I have 47895225789 or so pictures to scan but I haven't yet, so... can someone please give me an idea?

Just reply with a link to a character ref. Or picture, even. Like I said, I'm not picky. I just want someone to tell me what to draw.

Okay, I need the practice at drawing and coloring and other such fun shiznits, and I need the inspiration, and yadda yadda yadda. And I figure I'm not good, experienced, or timely enough to charge (plus I have no way of getting the money from point A to point B). So I came up with a solution!

... drumroll please!...

REQUESTS!

I'm gonna start out with five slots, I guess, then I'll add more once those are filled. What you need to give me is this:

--Your name
--Character's name
--Link to ref sheet and/or character description (preferably the ref)
--Mood/setting/etc.

I can't guarantee any time limit on these; again, they're mostly for practice and inspiration. And by the way, send me a NOTE if you want a picture, I will ignore replies asking for a slot. Can you say amen, and we all say thankya.
