        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Pretty much the greatest week of my life, art-wise.  Hung out all day Wednesday with Phil Jiminez and Rodney Greenblat at the Scholastic HQ judging AMAZING h.s. student comic art for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards (I didn't know how important these were - tons of national recognition and scholarship money for winners -- Andy Warhol won when he was a student!).  Phil and Rodney are both such nice, down-to-earth guys; you'd never guess they were both practically art legends.  We exchanged dumpster-diving triumphs and convention anecdotes over lunch, but it was very serious business during the judging and we had some truly incredible winner ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ I got a surprise package in the mail from Devil's Due the other day.  While I was sad to not find a check, I was happy to find the next best thing: hilarious old pages.  I'd completely forgotten that I once had to send them a bundle of Hack/Slash #7 pages in the mail when my scanner was on the fritz.  Looking at those pages, it was amazing to see how not only my drawing had progressed since then, but also my perception of my own work.  Figures that I remember looking totally bad-ass back then looked wonky and disproportionate.  Actually, every page looked as if I was viewing my original perception of the page through a fun-house mirror.  Noth ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ So the news is finally out!<br /><br />The project I've been working on in secret for the last several months is a new DV8 miniseries with Mr. Brian Wood.  Click the link above to read the CBR article/interview with Brian and me.<br /><br />If any of you guys are thinking "DVwhaa?" then I'd highly recommend looking for the 'Neighborhood Threat' trade that contains Warren Ellis' run on the series, mostly with art by a then relatively newbie Humberto Ramos.  But even then, Brian's designed the story to be accessible to any reader, even those who have no clue about the original series.<br /><br />Hope you'll give it a look when it hits shelves!  For the time being, it looks  ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ A few people have asked me if I'm continuing on Ms. Marvel, and I am both happy and sad to say no.  I was hired purely on a fill-in basis, I'm assuming just to bridge a gap in production.  Pat Olliffe will be back on for #39 and Sana Takeda will take over starting with #40.  I'm sad to move on b/c I loved the book and the creative team, and I really developed a soft-spot for bad girl Karla.  But at the same time I'm THRILLED to now be working at WildStorm as the series artist for a miniseries with one of my favorite writers EVER.  I can't reveal anything more than that for quite a while, but I think we're planning on announcing it officially  ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ After drawing full-time for a few years, I've started to lump TV shows into two categories: those you can "watch" while drawing, and those you just can't.  By simple trial and error, I've found a handful of shows that are easy to follow without actually being able to see the screen.  This is usually due to dialogue that pairs with the action to actually describe what's going on.  In these kind of shows, there's rarely ever action-only scenes, EVERYTHING has dialogue.<br /><br />The best I've found so far has been Battlestar Galactica.  When I have the time to sit down and actually watch an episode, I'm often annoyed at how superfluously wordy it is.  B ]]></media:text>
