Since my last post I've done basically nothing .... Moved back in with the folks, went to Download 2009 (Slipknot and Motley Crue, unbelihevable) ... Went to Metallica in August, and applied back to uni for next yr.

Any jazz with any of my devious friends?
PS: RIP to onlyowls, although I didn't know you in person, your work inspired me and your words helped me through some rough patches, so thank you, xXx

Been a while since I updated this hasn't it. Okie dokie, so a lot's happened since I last updated....Went to Download in June, best 5 days ever, definitely on the way back next year. Apart from that didn't do much else apart from work and get drunk all summer, good times though.

August, headed to see Muse in Dublin - absolutely epic, hearing "Knights of Cydonia" was unreal. Nicola got most of the gig recorded but you couldn't hear much other than me screaming out the words haha.

At the end of August, moved into my own house with a friend, his girlfriend and her sister.. Decent spot, close to the city centre, with a bar a 20 second walk away, all good Anyways, moving out of this house as the twins and I don't exactly get along - well, we get along fine but we're all too different and it just doesn't work. Shit happens, looking for a flat with my friend Steph instead.

Halloween's coming up and my costume arrived the other day. Going as Jason Voorhees (friday the 13th) because I couldn't find a Mick Thomson (Slipknot guitarist) mask, but it's all good since Jason was my initial choice.

Also, speaking of upcoming, Pendulum are coming to Belfast in November - on the same day as my best friend's 21st birthday, so should be getting my ticket next week.Epic! Also got tickets to go see Black Stone Cherry on my 21st as well, so it's all falling into place

Anyways, I do intend to update dA soon, and I will eventually get around to looking at all the work everyone else has done. Kif, we have a conundrum" - Zapp Brannigan
---
Gargh, choices. Two music festivals, each has some kickass bands playing, each has pros and cons over the other, but I can only go to one.

Download Festival 2008- Headline acts: Offspring, Kiss and Lostprophets. Other acts include Judas Priest, Incubus, HIM, Jimmy Eat World, Motorhead, Chris Cornell, Cavalera Conspiracy, Alter Bridge, Disturbed, Children of Bodom, Jonathan Davis, Apocalyptica, the Subways, Rise Against and Throwdown.

Reading Festival 2008- Headline acts: Rage Against the Machine, The Killers and Metallica (if rumours are to be believed...also read rumours of Foo Fighters/ Strokes / Weezer appearing as headline acts at some stage). Other bands include Less Than Jake, Serj Tankian, Goldfinger, Manic Street Preachers, The Cribs, Slipknot, Machine Head, 30 Seconds to Mars, Avenged Sevenfold, Feeder, NoFX, Queens of the Stone Age, The Automatic, Fratellis, Subways and Velvet Revolver (official confirmation March 31st).

Herein lies the confusion- each band has some fantastic bands confirmed / rumoured to be playing. I'm a fan of more of the bands at Download, but I don't know a lot of the lineup, while Reading I know more of the bands.

Each festival has two kickass headliners (KISS/Offspring; Metallica/Rage) and one shit headliner (Lostprophets; Killers). Each festival has one band headlining that may never play the UK again (Kiss; Rage). Each festival is the same price, and I have friends looking to go to both.

Advantage for Reading is that it's at the end of the summer, means I can save up more cash from work. Already put in for holidays from work for Download though, as I never even considered Reading until a few days ago, but I can take back the holiday form if I get a Reading ticket.

Should be fun either way.

Not been up to much, avoiding assignments due next week, at work and the likes. Finally bought Guitar Hero 1 the other day (Already had 2 and 3). Kicks ass. Finally getting my phone back after 6 weeks, woo. That's all for the minute.

Josh was drowned out at times by the guitars, and the setlist wasn't fantastic... SEVEN songs off the new album, which is a pity cause the album sucks balls; the songs were performed well but just not a fan of them, but Make It Wit Chu was sweet Another complaint was that they didn't play "The Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret", and shockingly enough didn't play "No-One Knows" Highlights of the night were Millionaire and Tangled Up In Plaid

Went to the Parlour bar after, met up with Ryan who I was staying with. "The Answer Lies Within" by Dream Theatre
--------------
Okie dokie, time for a bit of a catchup methinks!

I'm 20 now, I've dropped out of University (wasn't my cup of tea), so I've come home and I'm currently at the Tech (college thingy) here in Derry studying for my Higher National Diploma (HND) in Health and Social Care. Course is going great so far, going for 4 weeks of placement in February and I can't wait, really looking forward to that.

I've not written anything in ages, out of sheer laziness rather than a lack of things to write about, so I'm gonna try and turn that around and begin to post here regularly again. Despite the last few things I've posted, I intend to start writing things which rhyme again, doesn't feel natural otherwise, heh.

I sold out and got a job in October... Working in a call centre (oh the joy) for people who have problems with their Vodafone at Home landline and broadband problems. It's not so bad, boring, but the money's pretty good, and everyone's really nice down there.

Going to see Queens of the Stone Age again (4th time) on February 7th in Belfast, with about 10 friends, can't wait for that. Got a ticket to go see Bon Jovi in June as well, which will kick ass.

Been checking out a lot of bands lately who I'd never listened to (thank you Guitar Hero). RHCP are no longer my favourite band, the Foo Fighters have taken over that role, as Dave Grohl is, simply put, the Messiah.

So anyways, enough about me, how's everyone else doing?

Alone on an aeroplane
Falling asleep against the window pane
My blood will THICKEN.

I need to wash myself again to hide all the dirt and pain
'cause I'd be scared that there's nothing underneath
And who are my real friends?
Have they all got the bends?
Am I really sinking this low?

My baby's got the bends - Oh no
We don't have any real friends - No no no
Just lying in a bar with my drip feed on
talking to my girlfriend waiting for something to happen
I wish it was the sixties
I wish I could be happy
I wish, I wish, I wish that something would happen.

Where do we go from here?
The planet is a gunboat in a sea of fear
And Where are you?
They brought in the C.I.A.
The tanks, and the whole marines to blow me away
To blow me sky high.
My baby's got the bends
We don't have any real friends
"The Bends" by Radiohead
---
So aye, I've been getting more and more into Radiohead these days; got The Bends and OK Computer in HMV's "2 CDs for £10" offer, fucking bargain, seeing as I already knew how good the CDs were. Been buying a fair amount of CDs lately- got KISS's greatest hits, Idlewild's "Remote Part", Placebo's "The Singles", Rammstein's "Mutter", System of a Down's "Toxicity", Daft Punk's "Discovery" and I think a couple more, lately, in addition to Simpsons and Futurama DVDs......Anyways, aye just thought I'd stop buy and drop the most-likely-expected bombshell, that I'm just gonna call it quits on this site. I just haven't been bothered writing anything lately, and sorry I never comment or anything like that, it's rare enough that I can be bothered to check the site. No doubt I'll pop back every few weeks to check up or something, but don't be expecting too many new submissions, comments, all that jazz. Just really haven't been bothered to do anything for the past few months, so aye, just thought I'd let ye's all know that I'm just gonna sack it. Thanks for all the comments and all that jazz, much appreciated. If you wanna add me to MSN or whatever, fire away, think my MSN address is listed here somewhere, so, until next time, adieu!

Where to start, where to start?

Well, I didn't exactly have the best of starts to last week...Got a phone call at 11am from my mum letting me know our dog had been run down and killed the night before The story I was told was that he'd run off with the other dogs from our street and hadn't come back; my dad found him when he was out the next day looking for him (they hadn't found him the night it happened).. Got a phone call on Sunday, though, with my mum saying she'd been ringing me all weekend just to realise she had my old mobile number, haha. Turns out they got another dog, and wanted to know what I'd name it.. They picked a name since they couldn't get in touch with me, so unfortunately our dog isn't known as Flea

Also, I discovered during the week, my university has banned my user account on the computers, because THEY fucked up.
The university have said that I missed a payment for my accomodation costs (which comes via Direct Debit from my parents' bank account), despite the fact all my other payments have come through fine with no trouble. I've been told to send through my parents' debit number again (they've already taken the number THREE times), or send in a cheque. My parents tried at the start of January to resolve the issue, and again last Friday, being told on both occasions, "We'll phone you back in five minutes"- they're still waiting for these phone calls! Mum's gona phone them again tomoro to try and get it sorted for good, and if that fails, she's sending a cheque, 'cause I got a letter today stating if I don't sort it within the next week, I'll be kicked out on Feb 9th, bah.

Speaking of February 9th, I'm going into town tomorrow to buy my ticket to see Europe on that date D That means it's only 10 days until I can officially die happy, having heard The Final Countdown live D Found out last night too from Tom, the guy I'm going to Europe with, that Electric Six are c...

Yeah, sorry I haven't been floating about much, my laptop's broken, we moved house back in Derry and the internet's not working there yet either. I have been writing a bit again lately, so hopefully be posting more soon.

Festive period was fun. Went home on December 16th; but didn't have a good start to the day. My alarm never went off, so I slept in, and missed my goddamned flight which was going straight to Derry. Had to fork out for another one which went to Belfast, then get the bus down from Belfast to Derry. £105 altogether, bah. Ah well, that night was my brother's 18th birthday party, which was fun- sat drinking 'til 5am, which had actually led into my own birthday. For my birthday, we headed off to the karaoke, but I never got the chance to sing 'cause my friend handed up our form too late (We were gonna sing "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and the News...gotta love Back to the Future)....Alas, never happened.

Skip forward to Xmas day, got clothing and money, as well as a Virgin Gift Card 'cause the folks didn't have a clue what to get me.. and basically the rest of my holiday was spent drinking / drunk ...fun times. New Years was a fun night, think I had about 9 cans of Foster's, 4 shots of some cola spirit thingy, and 4 bottles of beer...somewhere along those lines, don't quite remember.

Came back to Liverpool yesterday, on the 1pm flight from Derry (I made it this time!) ... In the airport in Derry, bumped into two girls from the flat above mine, who told me our building had been broken into (security phoned one of them)...Their kitchen was completely raided; (microwave, toaster, George Foreman thing all gone) ... the full journey over I was worried because in my rush to get out of the flat and to the airport on Dec 16, I forgot to lift my keys from the jeans I'd been wearing the night before, so my room was still open; PS2, TV, laptop, bass, acoustic guitar and my amplifier were all in my room.....Came back to find out that our flat had not been targeted, which was odd- we're on the ground floor, but they targeted the middle floor:S... Lucky for me too!

As I said earlier, I didn't have a key to get into the flat, so security let me in using the spare key, and then it turned out my room had been locked, which I thought was odd- how could it be locked if I'd left they key inside?? I went in, and found CDs strewn around my room, including loads thrown on the floor, and some strewn across my bed, and the window was lying wide open...Not good, but luckily nothing was missing. Me and Tom were the last two in the flat over xmas, and we'd been in the kitchen watching DVDs and listening to music on the night of Dec 15th, which would explain why some of my CDs were atop my chest of drawers, but I don't know how CDs got onto the floor or my bed, or how the window was open:S

I thought I'd left my key inside the jeans I was wearing on the night of the 15th (and forgot to lift it on the 16th)...Bumped into Tom yesterday who said I'd left it in the flat (probably in the kitchen), and he handed it up to security for me to collect [He must have realised my room was open if I'd not had the key, and locked it for me]...Thank fuck, 'cause I thought my keys had been stolen so anyone could have tried getting into our flat....Should be getting the keys back today

Bought a pile of CDs and DVDs over Xmas too .... Kiss "Hotter Than Hell", Queens of the Stone Age "Lullabies to Paralyse", RHCP "Stadium Arcadium", Pearl Jam "Ten", Funkadelic "Funk Gets Stronger" are the CDs ... also bought CSI Season 4, Waynes World 1 and 2, and got back Futurama seas...

We are aimless
And the target is an empty wall
We're out of patience
With smiles that cut across her face
No complaints
But I wish I had my top of my brain
I'd like to walk
But the sun doesn't know we're awake
We're in spaceships
Paid vacations
Send a brochure from the agency
No complaints
But my girlfriend dug a ditch in my room
Walking papers and a hole
Straight out from my shoes
No complaints
But it's harder
To believe in the truth
She'll write a message
On a billboard
And I'll send it to you
We feel painless
Check the status on the info line
In some ways tainted
Radiation from the factory
No complaints
But it's overrated, that's for sure

I was s'posed to be going to Leeds on Friday night to see Dragon Force, but this has fallen through now. The friend I was supposed to stay with is going out for someone's birthday, and won't be able to meet me ...Also, my best friend's coming over next Thursday, so I've got to set money aside for that. ... My friend Gareth found out today that my best friend's coming over, so Gareth's coming down from Edinburgh as well, to meet up with us and hang out again Can NOT wait to see the two, as I haven't seen either since the night after Halloween- I know it's not that long, but these are guys I used to hang out with every night.

Going back to Derry on Dec 16th for 3 weeks as Xmas holidays It's perfect timing too- my brother's 18th birthday is on Monday the 18th (But, due to it being a Monday, he's throwing it on the 16th)...and it's my own birthday the day after I arrive home (His birthday's the day after mine, in case you didn't work that out) .... Gonna be so much fun. Also, the family will have moved into our new house by then (moving in next Tuesday) .... No doubt, though, I'll get drunk at some stage, and wind up going back to the 'old' house, out of habit and that...Anywho, best go! Adieu

Yes, that is, in fact, the same Europe who wrote The Final Countdown, because Europe kick ass
Hey there, how do? I know I've not submitted in a long time, hence the sudden influx of submissions....I finally got the internet in my room tonight Been taking advantage of that by downloading MSN and that again...And doing work on an essay (boo).

Yeah, I know, most of the submissions aren't really all that good, but it's just things I've been writing during my time away.

University's okay...Psychology is unbearable. So boring. I mean, I wouldn't mind if it was just name-dropping and that, but it's full of statistics, and there was a reason I got away from maths when I did!!

Halloween night, went home to Derry for the first time since I came here at the end of September. Halloween was fun up to a point. I dressed up as Otis (Bill Moseley) from "House of 1000 Corpses", and hung out with all my friends, which was fun. Then I lost my student ID card, and my phone and what was left of my alcohol fund....AARGH...I also lost my phone at the same time as the money (running across a road, fell out of my pocket).....And then just snapped and threw my camera away ('twas a disposable one anyway, so no worries there- wasn't gonna risk taking the digital one out). Thankfully, one of my friends, Scrubs (real name Eamonn) found my ID that night, and I think he may have found my phone, but has to drop them down to my house to get 'em posted over here.

Next Chili Peppers single is gonna be "Snow (Hey Oh)" for those who are interested, and if rumours are to be believed, "Storm In A Teacup" will be the fourth of a possible SEVEN singles from the album. Now I'm a big fan of the band, as is obvious, but seriously- seven singles from an album of 28 tracks?! May as well just release the full thing track by track!

On the gig front....Unfortunately, missed American Head Charge on Sunday due to having no-one to go with, as my friends had no money.... And missing Stone Sour tomorrow in Manchester, for the same reason...And I don't wanna go it alone, because I only know one person in Manchester (my cousin), and I've never been there, so I wouldn't risk it, trying to find my way back to hers (that is, if she'd let me crash overnight). Things are looking up, however. May go see '70s rockers UFO on November 21st at the Carling Academy....And there are a few gigs popping up in a few months which I'm all for.... Soil are playing in Liverpool in January at some stage; on February 7th, The Haunted are coming to the Academy (a few friends are big fans, so hopefully they might pop over), and also, February 9th, EUROPE are coming to play- one of my favourite bands Can't wait.

Anywho's, it's now 2.45am, and I have to be up again in 5 hours, so I'm off for some rest. Adios!

Found out today, the Chili Peppers have announced they're playing a free live show- yes, a FREE live show- in London on November 22nd, and the 1800 tickets are only available through listening to XFM Radio station, which means, I must get myself a radio!

Aargh, my Zen Microphoto mp3 player broke a few weeks back. I've had it since the end of August, and already it's broken....I was listening to music on my laptop in the kitchen of the flat, connected the Zen to take more music from it, and it just stopped working- hasn't worked since.....That's £150 down the drain, unless I can find the box which contains the warranty and that, which I ensured to keep seeing as it was such an expensive purchase.

Going home next Monday for All Hallow's Eve I've decided on my costume, just need to get some facepaint and a long silvery wig, and I intend to dress up as Otis (Bill Moseley) from "House Of 1000 Corpses", and "The Devil's Rejects" ( Here To See! )

Our house back in Derry's been sold! The family are moving out in the next few months, to a house like 5 minutes up the road, but it's a detached house, where I'll get my own room, and we have a garage, and a big backyard for the dog to run around, so all is well, seeing as we get away from those tossers next door

Oddly enough, the last few weeks have been a lot more difficult social-wise than the first few were...I dunno, maybe it's just me being paranoid, but I get the impression I'm not wanted there a lot of the time in the flat. I've spent the whole of the last two weekends holed up inside my room, watching DVDs and that, without a word from anyone, although, the people upstairs are really nice, always inviting me out when they're going out with my flatmates (who've just given up on asking me out), and trying to get me more involved in their drinking games and that, which is really nice 'cause it does make things a lot easier.

As I said, going home next Monday, flight leaves Liverpool around 5.10pm, coming into Belfast at 6.10pm, so if I manage to get the 6.15pm bus, I should be home for around 8pm, but that's unlikely, especially if I decide to bring any baggage home- clothes and that. My friend Nikki may be coming over here again with me on November 2nd which will kick ass, cause I'll have a friend to hang around with, woo. And then Gareth's coming down from Edinburgh on November 5th, so all 3 of us can head, along with James (guy from both my classes), to the American Head Charge gig on the 5th, in the Carling Academy here in Liverpool, woo. It looks unlikely, though, that I'll be able to go see Stone Sour in Manchester, due to lack of people to go with, and due to lack of places to stay

Anywho, best head on here. Should have the 'web in my room by the end of October, huzzahs are in order. HUZZAH<img src="http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/b/biggrin.gif" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" title=":D (Big Gr...

---

Just thought I'd update people on how things are going here. Well, I've settled in pretty well, everyone seems really nice and friendly, so it's been easy to settle in quickly

Timetable isn't too bad
Monday- 9am-10am, 1pm-2pm
Tuesday- No lectures
Wednesday- 9am-10.45am, 11am-1pm
Thursday- 2pm-3pm, 4pm-6pm
Friday- 9am-11am

Well anyway, yeah, I'm just sitting around killing time before my 1pm Special Needs lecture. Really need to find something to do! Bought two books for my Psychology course today, which cost 56 pounds- rip off

The nightlife here is fantastic- been into the city centre about five times, and I've found a bar called the Krazy House, which kicks ass. Bottom floor is dance music, middle floor is metal, top floor is indie. Kicks ass.

We're getting the interweb put into our rooms this week at some stage Because we were the only halls of residence without it at the start of the year, they're providing it to us for free too! Huzzah!

Been writing away of late, but I'm going to post once I get the net back in my room, even wrote one piece in tribute to one of the best movies ever, heh.

Hopefully I'll be able to see Sarah again soon, haven't seen her since January .

I'm going home for Hallowe'en, and think I'm dressing up as David Hasselhoff, oh yes. The Hoff is truly a king among men, and he got to number 3 in the UK Singles Charts yesterday with Jump In My Car

My friend Nikki might be coming over to stay for a while next month, and we plan to go to two gigs- American Head Charge play here in Liverpool on November 5th, while Stone Sour play in Manchester (30 mins away) on November 8th, so provided I get tickets, the start of November should rock!

Anywho, that's all for today, and I'll update again when I have the interweb put in! Adios!

The above song is AMAZING, I heard it for the first time the other day and can't stop listening to it. Okay, yeah, I'm leaving for Liverpool on Friday night! It's Glen's birthday on Thursday night, and with me leaving on Friday, we're all hitting the bar all day Friday, which should be fun. Looking forward to this move, but at the same time, purdy nervous due to the fact of knowing absolutely no-one else who's going over! Apparently, most of the people in my halls are from Derry too, but I was looking and didn't recognise a single name, unfortunately.

Yeah, so lately I've been up to .... fuck all really! Mainly sitting bored, and going out drinking. Getting a new string for my bass today tho, at last

Bah, can't think of anything else to write. I'll leave another entry before I head off so I can bid you all adieux. Adieu!

Hey

What makes a man?
Is it the power in his hands?
Is it his quest for glory?
Give it all you've got,
to fight to the top
So we can know your story

Now you're a man

A man, man man
Now you're a man

A manny manny man
A man man man

You are now a man
You're a man
Now you're a man

Live it, Live it

What make a man?
Is it the woman in his arms?
Just cause she has big titties?
Or is it the way he fights every day?
....No, it's probably the titties

Now you're a man

A man, man man
Now you're a man-man

Man-man man-man man
Now you're a man
Man, man-man man
Yep, so I'm back from Crete....It was fantastic...So warm, at one stage it was 45 Degrees Celcius... We headed off to some island on a boat about a week into the holiday....Naturally, jumping off the boat at one stage..This holiday was the first time in about 3 years I've gone swimming, true story. Highlight of the fortnight was the day trip to the water park, because that place rocked the body that rocked the party. Our hotel was literally a 2 minute walk from the middle of the town, and the town we stayed in was clubs EVERYWHERE, it was the new Ibiza, or so I'm told...So much fun, and we were out partying 'til 5.30am the other day.

While I was out there, my aunt e-mailed me my A-Level results! I got B's in English Literature, Spanish and Politics! I also got a "C" in AS Level History from last year, one mark (out of 300) off a B! Boooooo..... Ah well, just thought I'd let everyone know I'm back. I'm off to live in Liverpool on September 23rd! That's gonna be a whole new experience since I know NOBODY there, but I suppose a lot of the students at Liverpool Hope will be in the same boat..

What an absolute LEGEND the Hoff is... If you haven't heard / seen the video for this song, go to YouTube and type it in ....and while you're at it, type in 'Hoff Ad' and watch his new ad forPipex Broadband company...Legend.

Anyway....Yeah, I sprained my wrist on Thursday......Stepping over people in my friend's room, tripped over the Xbox and landed on his TV .... Apparently the bang was really loud, as Danny heard it from the hallway and came running in to see what happened....And I couldn't bend my arm at all after it happened...Thanks to Eamonn and Danny who helped get it sorted, though.....Woke up the next day, having forgotten about it, and my wrist was killing me...Thought I'd broken it, but luckily it's only a sprain.

Typical of me to do that, eh? Especially seeing as I'm going on holiday tomorrow! Going to Greece for two weeks, last family holiday kinda thing
A Level results are out on Thursday, so I'll be finding out how I got on and if I managed to get into the course I was looking to do in Liverpool...Here's hoping!
Just thought I'd leave an update, that the reason I've not been commenting on people's work lately is down to the fact my computer destroyed itself last week. It won't let me log on, and I have to get hold of a reboot disk from somewhere. I'll be back ASAP, and I'll try to get on DA when I'm in my friends' houses (like now) but no guarantees. ------------------------------------------------------

Okay, I'm just home from Oxegen, so it's time to give a summary of the events. Musically, Oxegen was fantastic- out of all the bands I saw, there was only one I can honestly say I didn't like. Well, about the Kaiser Chiefs and Maximo Park- I can say I thought they were very good live but their music doesn't appeal to me.

Bands I saw this weekend:

1) Rushmore- A band from the Republic of Ireland, who opened the New Band Stage on Saturday. Their altrock-country mix was worked really well, and they were a really impressive band- as agreed by the two I was with. I'd give them an 8/10, possibly even a 9, due to the upbeat feel to their music, and the confidence they showed in front of the crowd

2) V Formation- Belfast band, the only ones I didn't like at all over the course of the weekend. I thought their music was very samey, and the singer wasn't very talented in my eyes, so I'd give them maybe a 3/10.

3) The Upper Room are a band from Brighton in England, and look to have a huge future, as they drew a huge crowd to the New Bands Stage, actually filling it up, and having the majority singing along with their songs. 7/10

4) Fear of Music- Manchester band who, just as The Upper Room before them, filled the tent with their own fans and things can only go up for this band too. I only watched 20 minutes, though, before departing the New Band Stage, 7/10

5) The Magic Numbers- I'd heard good things about The Magic Numbers' live show from last year's festival, so decided to go and watch them myself. Undoubtedly, they are one of the most poppy bands I've ever seen, but the sound works fantastically for them. One of the best bands of the weekend for me, 10/10.

6) Hard-Fi- One of the bands I went to Oxegen determined to see. The sound system did Hard-Fi no favours at the start, for the first three songs or so, the sound was questionable to say the least. Thankfully, it improved as the set progressed- and just for good measure, they threw in a cover of The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army". As I said, though, the sound system did them no favours, so for that, I'll only give them an 8.

7) Arctic Monkeys- I've never really been a big fan of the Arctic Monkeys, other than a few songs, and they too suffered from the questionable sound quality. They knew how to work the crowd, though, so even if the sound was distracting from the music a bit, the band kept the crowd entertained. Although I'm not a big fan of the music, I'd give them a 7/10 for their live show- could have been better had they used a good sound system.

8) The Strokes- One word sums up the Strokes' live show....Unbelievable. 10/10. Another one of my favourite bands of the weekend.

10) The Who- Living legends, The Who decided to treat the older fans during this set. Pete Townshend announced du...

Well, all the exams are out of the way, thankfully. I'm now free until the middle of September I was in Liverpool there last weekend, checking out Liverpool Hope University- unfortunaly I've left it too late to apply for most of the accomodation, meaning I need to now apply for the most expensive place, blah! Ah well, Liverpool was so much fun- my parents catered for almost all my alcohol consumption, huzzah. Sending off my student loan forms, application for criminal record (my course requires I have a clean one), and accomodation application today.

Oxegen bus ticket should be finding its way into my hands today as well, huzzah. And it's Big Chris's 18th birthday tonight- PARTY

Anyway, my friend Dan made this video, which I actually did laugh out loud at- [link] . The main character in the video is my best friend, David McDonough, and I do make an appearance! I'm the one hugging Conor (who's wearing the nirvana t-shirt) and I say "are you, uh... Conor O'Neill?" as it's my catchphrar haha, pretty humorous

We have three contendors for Flavour of the Week this week!
Robbie Williams
Buckcherry
Foo Fighters (since yesterday)

Recently watched two of my favourite DVDs again, "Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The 'Hood" (A comedy with the Wayans brothers, very very funny- highly recommended, even if, like me, you dislike their TV show), and Leon (Hitman movie with Jean Reno- again, very highly recommended).

I have two exams left! I did my Spanish listening AS Repeat yesterday, and flew through it- finishing each part with 20 mins to spare, which is always a good sign Also, did my Spanish oral last week, and according to the examiner, it was "Great" and he only "hopes you do as well in your other exams as you have in this!" so huzzahs are in order there HUZZAH

English on June 12th and June 20th now just remain. So that isn't too bad. My Spanish and Politics notes still sit on the phone table though awaiting the time when they are set alight.

This Friday I'm working again! This time I'm working at the Robbie Williams concert which explains why he's in the battle for Flavour Of The Week. Support acts are The Ordinary Boys (blah! hate them, especially that ballbag Preston, Big Brother my ass), and Basement Jaxx- who I would actually like to see perform.

On the topic of which, was offered a position working at Oxegen. Fuck that! I'm gonna head to Oxegen with my friends and make the most of the weekend. 32 days to go, but 31 until we leave Derry (We're going there on the Friday night), so whooooo. And the money I make from Robbie Williams will come in VERY handy.

Going to Liverpool next weekend- leaving on the Saturday afternoon, coming back on the Monday afternoon- for the Open Day at Liverpool Hope Uni which is where I'll be studying come September. Gives me a chance to get a clue about the city when I eventually move there.

Well, rant over. If you've read this far, congratulations. And I will now leave by saying goodbye..."Goodbye". Hoff out!

Anywho's, exams started on Monday there with a Spanish listening and reading test......Typically, I'd been out drinking the night before to celebrate the end of our last year in school, and overslept - arrived into the exam almost 30 mins late ...... They offered me an extra 30 mins at the end to make up for it, which was really nice of them, but thankfully I didn't need the extra time- got the exam done by the time I was supposed to

Next exam is tomorrrow afternoon at 1:30pm, another Spanish exam. This time it's writing, and we needa write two hour-long essays on books we've read in class this year, I'm sacked basically, needa spend all day today revising them.

This weekend is gonna rock....Friday, I'll be revising all day for an exam on Monday, but Friday night, I'll be going to my friend's 18th bday party, huzzah....And Saturday, I'm working at the Bon Jovi concert in Dublin! Me and my best friend got jobs working as stewards at the concert Sunday will be another day of hectic revision, because the exam's on Monday morning....But here's hoping it'll go well.

The new Red Hot Chili Peppers album is growing on me lately, but I was highly, highly disappointed when I first heard it, cause I'd spent four years waiting for it, and expected it to be the greatest thing the world would ever hear....Sadly, I was let down, but now the album's growing on me, and there are some excellent songs- Hump De Bump, Especially In Michigan, Strip My Mind to name but three. Less than two months now until I see them again at Oxegen, and recently they've been playing "Me and My Friends" live again- so here's hoping they'll play that at Oxegen

Well, that's all that's going on in my world at the moment....Under stress with this exam tomorrow, but my exams are pretty well spaced out, so I can revise for one exam at a time, rather than revising them all at once

Mon May 15th, 9.15am- Spanish listening / reading
Thurs May 18th- 1.30pm- Spanish writing
Mon May 22, 9.15am- Politics Units 5 and 6
Thursday June 1st- Spanish oral
Monday June 5- Spanish listening / reading (repeat from last year)
Monday June 12- English Synoptic exam
Tuesday June 20- English Unit 4 (Repeat, did the first in January)

So hey, it's not all bad! If you've read this far, how about giving yourself a congratulatory pat on the back? Tune in next time for more obscure ramblings from the mind of Ciaran Dunn!

On an unrelated note ..... Red Hot Chili Peppers' new video, "Dani California", is given its world premiere on MTV in America next Monday night at 11pm (US time) .....
Started listening to this song again lately, kicks ass.....I got news today which has made me so happy it's unbelievable ..... The Red Hot Chili Peppers are coming to the UK and Ireland this summer, which I already knew.....I'd heard rumours they would play the Oxegen festival headlined last year by the Foo Fighters.....I thought this would be below the Chili Peppers seeing as they'll be going on a world tour to promote the new album at the same time......However, the news reached me today, The Red Hot Chili Peppers are to headline "T In The Park", Oxegen's twin sister festival (whoever plays T on the Sat plays Oxegen on the Sunday in 99% of cases) .... and while it's not officially confirmed yet, the Chilis haven't announced any Irish dates and the Oxegen lineup is strictly under wraps, which leads me to put two and two together. My original intention was to go to see the Chilis and go to Oxegen, but the way it seems now, I can kill two birds with one stone....ROLL ON OXEGEN!

(1) Power of Equality
Very funky introduction to the album, setting the tone for the full 17 tracks. This is Anthony's rant against the discriminatory world we're brought up in, and demanding that all peoples are given equality. He even gets in a shot against the KKK here.

(2) If You Have To Ask
...You'll never know! A more chilled-out song following on from Power of Equality- one of the most relaxing on the album. Another excellent little number.

(3) Breaking the Girl
This is a decent song, but in my opinion, it's the weakest song on the album and is one of the band's most overrated songs. Although it's an okay song, I don't believe it should have been a single release, and should never have made it to the Greatest Hits...That's just my opinion, though.

(4) Funky Monks
The song starts with the somewhat strange sound of slapping and popping ...done on the guitar, rather than bass. Anthony declares "There are no monks" in his band. One of those songs you could just listen to for ages on repeat.

(5) Suck My Kiss
One of the singles from the album, and a good choice this time for a singles release. Very simple bassline, but Flea makes it sound excellent, along with the rest of the band of course. One of the catchiest songs on the album.

(6) I Could Have Lied
Anthony revealed in his autobiography ("Scar Tissue") that this song was written about Sinead O'Connor, with whom he shared a brief relationship. A slow, acoustic track- the first of its kind for the band- which sticks out in the mind of the listener.

(7) Mellowship Slinky In B-Major
A great bassline drives this song throughout. This is one of the songs where you just can't help but sing along with the vocals of Anthony. One of the highlights of the album, albeit hugely underrated.

(8) The Righteous And The Wicked
Another political raving by the band. A song written about the US involvement in countries where Anthony believed the country had no right to get involved in. In this case, George Bush (Senior) was the one they viewed as the "wicked" leader.

(9) Give It Away
Do I really need to review this song? Everyone knows this, one of the band's biggest hits of all time. Fantastic tune drives this song, while Anthony's lyrics just add to it to make an overall great song, and arguably the song which took the band on their first steps toward being huge. (Well, "Higher Ground" and the Mother's Milk album had made them popular, but this song took that popularity to a new level.)

(10) Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Title track of the album sees the band go for a completely different approach to the other tracks. Another track which is pretty laid-back, but Anthony goes for a completely different vocal approach- putting on a deep voice and basically speaking the lyrics. A fantastic song, with a very very catchy chorus. A great song to use as the title track...Although "RockinFreakAPotamus" would have been a ...somewhat different idea for the title had they actually gone along with it!

(11) Under The Bridge
This song needs no review- simple as that. All you need to know is that if you've not heard this song, you need to come out of the cave you've been in for the last 14 years

(12) Naked In The Rain
Very funk-driven song, with one of the best basslines on the album, including a great bass solo. Another great output.

(13) Apache Rose Peacock
Another laid-back song, although unlike the others this one is most definitely a laid-back funk song. This song even contains references to the kids' movie Puff the Magic Dragon! Anthony saying about how much he loves the city of New Orleans, while the Apache reference is to do with his love of Native American culture.

(14) The Greeting Song
Anthony has said he despises this song, and it's the worst he's ever written. I have to disagree because I thinik it's a great song, but it was only written because the producer (Rick Rubin) didn't want many political songs on the album and told Anthony to write a song about something along the lines of cars (which he did). The end result is a song with a great tune, but the lyrics lack real meaning.

(15) My Lovely Man
Another tribute to the late guitarist Hillel Slovak. This is my favourite song on the entire album. Another very bass-driven tune, and this time the lyrics obviously mean a lot to Anthony. [The band played this at Phoenix Park in Dublin the second time I saw them (last summer), and understandably I went crazy, hearing my second-favourite Chilis song, right after my favourite (Otherside) hehe.]

(16) Sir Psycho Sexy
8 minutes of references to Anthony's sex life, and probably more accurately, some of his sexual fantasies. Another slow-burning song, as we come close to winding up the album.

Review of the Foo Fighters album "One By One"

Track 1 - All My Life
Everyone knows this song, the first single off the band's fourth album. This song understandably gets a great response off the crowd when they play it live, and it's one of the Foos' most popular songs. On a personal note, this is *my* song live, apparently. Not that it's my favourite song, but the fact that he screams "DONE! DONE! ONTO THE NEXT ONE!" (And with my surname being Dunn, you can see what my friends mean by this being my song)

Track 2 - Low
The video to this song definitely lives up to the title anyway! Jack Black and Dave Grohl getting drunk and crossdressing in a cheap motel. This is a good song, and despite not being the weakest song on the album it's not one of the album's strongest either.

Track 3 - Have It All
Nice upbeat song which just sends the adrenaline rushing when the band launch into this song live, which unfortunately, isn't very often. The verses to the song are somewhat strangely more quickly played and bouncier than the chorus itself, but this is definitely a good, if not underrated album track.

Track 4 - Times Like These
Another big hitter from the band's fourth album, and deservedly so. Recognisable guitar playing and Dave's voice just combine to make this an instant hitter among the fans. This is one of the few Foo Fighters songs which can be played both as a full-band song, or a slowed down, acoustic version played by Dave alone. Both are equally great.

Track 5 - Disenchanted Lullaby
I've become addicted to this song lately. Dave wrote this about his former girlfriend who rejected his marriage proposals. Great slowdown track for anyone who prefers these kind of Foo Fighters tracks.

Track 6 - Tired Of You
My favourite track of the album, without a doubt. Another slowed down track, and this song draws a fantastic response from the crowd, especially the couples. This song meant a LOT more to me at Reading with Sarah when we last saw the Foo Fighters...Listen to the track if you want to know what I mean. Anyway, unlike most slowish Foo Fighters songs, this song really sticks out in everyone's mind. The album would almost be worth buying for this one song alone!

Track 7 - Halo
Another bouncy song to follow up the two slow songs. And another song which makes for pretty addictive listening. This is one of the better album tracks, and I think it would have been a good idea for a single, but hey, can't win 'em all. Dave switches between singing and shouting to great effect in this song, and the harmonic vocals just add depth to an already-great song.

Track 8 - Lonely As You
The instrumentals in this song provide a complete contrast to the lyrics and especially to the title. While they are quite downbeat, the guitars just provide a hugely upbeat and poppy sound which would actually be suited to a ska band, sans the trumpets. Another contendor for the best song on the album. This song doesn't actually sound anything like the Foo Fighters, and the experiment with a new sound just pays dividends on a large scale with the end result they achieve through this song.

Track 9 - Overdrive
Catchy song, but this is one of the weaker ones on the album, and seems to be just a filler toward the end of the album. Although it's a decent song, at the same time, it's Pretty expendable.

Track 10 - Burn Away
This song is again, quite catchy, but in comparison to the rest of the album, it's not the great song it would seem on a different album, for example it would probably come across better on the band's "In Your Honor" album. This isn't really one of the songs which stands out for the listener, seeing the quality in the songs which come before it.

Track 11 - Come Back
A seven-minute journey which brings us to the end of the album. Although the song seems a bit dragged out, it's still a great song, and a fantastic way to end the album. And it's a good thing for music fans worldwide that Dave stuck to the promise from this song : "I Will Come Back"..

Although the review I have given of the Foo Fighters' fourth album One By One has been mostly positive, there are a few downsides to the album. Toward the end, the tracks seem to lessen in their quality, with the exception of the spectacular Come Back. Although the album is more varied in its sound than most Foo Fighters albums, I think this song lacks in the fact that it doesn't have the same quality of big-hitters- for example, in my opinion, "All My Life" isn't as good a song as the likes of "Learn To Fly", "Breakout", "Monkey Wrench" or "This Is A Call" to name but a few...The song is also lacking in the tracks such as "For All The Cows" or "Stacked Actors" where the band switch between heavy sounds and slow jazzy ones in the same song.
Overall, I'd give th...

Well, out of sheer boredom, I've decided....I'll start to review the CDs in my collection, give them a rating out of 5, and hopefully someone will take me on and possibly go buy the same albums to expand their own tastes. Today's review is the Red Hot Chili Peppers' third album, and the first sign of their rise to dominating alternative rock...The Uplift Mofo Party Plan....Here goes!

Track 1 - Fight Like A Brave
Bass-driven anthemic, upbeat opening to the album. Anthony proclaims himself as a "rebel with a mission" while calling for people to stand up for what they believe in, and fight for the causes they believe in, not just what people tell them to. With a chorus consisting of a chant like you would hear at a football stadium, there's nothing to dislike about this song!

Track 2 - Funky Crime
More laid-back than the first track, this is a medium-paced funky trip with Anthony claiming "funk's colour-blind" and that by being a white musician performing funk music, to such a great effect, he's going "Against the state of mind."

Track 3 - Me And My Friends
The title makes the meaning of this song obvious. This is one of the Peppers' most famous early tracks and deservedly so. Excellent instrumentals, great lyrics....The breakdown in the middle of the song is excellent too...Just building up to a fantastic final verse and climactic chorus. Overall, one of the strongest songs on the album.

Track 4 - Backwoods
A very different sound to the other early tracks on this album, this song was written about the Native Americans being removed from the land which was once theirs. The instrumentals themselves just set the tone for the song even before the lyrics begin to set in. This is a tribute to the band's early musical idols and the rock 'n' roll they created. One of my personal favourite songs by the band.

Track 5 - Skinny Sweaty Man
A track written about Hillel Slovak, which bows out after only 1 minute and 16 seconds. Hillel was often referred to as the "Skinny Sweat Man in the green suit" when the band were out partying, so of course the song was written about the band's then-guitarist who, unfortunately, died due to drug usage in his apartment in June 1988. It's fitting that on his last album with the band, he had a song written about him.

Track 6 - Behind The Sun
Another laid-back track. This slow jam is about the band's connection with nature, and their opposition to the un-necessary markets of whaling and dolphin-hunting. This was one of the songs which, when released, helped to raise the profile of the Red Hot Chili Peppers

Track 7 - Subterranean Homesick Blues
This song is the Chili Peppers' cover of the song originally performed by Bob Dylan. The decision to cover this song seems to have paid dividends because the end-result is fantastic, and the band make it sound like one of their own.

Track 8 - Party On Your Pussy (Formerly known as Special Secret Song Inside)
The title of this song makes it blatantly obvious that this song's about sex, as were a large number of the early Chili Peppers songs. Never a dull moment with this band!

Track 9 - No Chump Love Sucker
My personal favourite track on the album. This was written by Anthony in regret because he was partying one night and ended up cheating on his long-term girlfriend. The song's about the "dog-town rat" who he spent that night with. Both lyrically and instrumentally, this song is exceptional.

Track 10 - Walkin' On Down The Road
One interpretation of this song is that it's Anthony's view of walking the path of stardom, "it can't be Hell because the streets are gold", however this may also be a symbolism of Anthony's view of his drug abuse, in the sense that he failed to recognise that he truly was walking through Hell just because everything seemed so great to him when he was using. This contains another reference to Bob "Bobby D" Dylan.

Track 11 - Love Trilogy
A song written about everything Anthony loves to do, and about his "Lust for Life" as Iggy Pop put it. Anthony made it clear what this song was about, all you have to do is read the lyrics to understand that.

Track 12 - Organic Anti-Beatbox Band
This is the closing track on the album, and a fitting closer. The band introduce themselves to their audience, while saying that unlike most people at that time, they would be willing to play at a party- provided that there was no beatbox, because to make music, one needs proper instruments. A great closing track.

Out of Five, I'd give this album a Five-star rating...That is to say, everyone should have this CD in their collection. This album is one of the finest albums I've heard by any band, let alone just the Chili Peppers. If you like their early stuff, or any other funky rock/rap music, I'd advise you look int...

Hey hey, just want to say sorry for taking so long to comment on things- not been online as much recently 'cause of being out of the house a lot...Anywho, it was Glen's birthday on Thursday and on Friday, there happened to be a tribute to his favourite band (Thin Lizzy) so we all headed there with him, and the gig was unbelievable. I'd never heard much Thin Lizzy before but haven't been able to stop listening to them since Friday...Also, at the gig, Philomena Lynott (Phil Lynott- bassist and vocalist of Thin Lizzy before he died of drug abuse), was there giving speeches against drugs and generally enjoying the night. For a surprise, we got Glen a t-shirt of Phil Lynott, and then asked Philomena to sign a poster personally for him- which she was more than happy to do for a huge fan of her son's music. Hehe, Glen's reaction was priceless- almost crying with shock.
On another note, about ten days ago I got tickets to see the Foo Fighters for the FOURTH TIME It'll be my third time seeing them in six months. The concert's on December 20th in Dublin- and that's 3 days after I turn 18 which means I can legally drink! WHOO! Thanks to Sarah for telling me about that- musta been a screwup in the Foo Fighters mailing list 'cause she was able to send me a copy of their newsletter confirming the gig, two days before I even got the email from them. I'd have killed someone if I found out the Foo Fighters had been announced and sold out even before I'd heard of it....Thankfully, tickets are still on sale and a few friends now plan to get theirs soon.....That's all this time, tune in next time for another edition of "The Wacky World Of Ciaran Dunn"

Evenin' all. Well, as you may or may not have noticed I've not been able to comment much recently, so sorry about that. Anywho.....On Aug 18, I got the results out from my AS level exams- got 2 Bs (in Politics and Spanish), and 2 Cs (in English and History)....Recently found out that out of 300 I was one mark- a third of a percent- off a B in my history, and 2 marks off an A in Spanish...Argh. Anyway.....5 days after getting the results out, I went to Engerland to finally meet the fantastic Miss Sarah On the Tuesday night we stayed in her house, so I got to meet her mum and nan- both of whom I thought were really nice. Sarah also gave me the shock of my life by handing me a card signed by all of Jackson United- including their frontman- Chris Shiflett of Foo Fighters' fame. Wednesday, we travelled to Reading to get set up early for the festival....The joy we had setting up tents in the mud, heh...Thursday we just sat around watching the rain from the tent- as you do of course- and discussing the bands we wanted to see that weekend. Friday was the first day of the 3-day concert...We saw DoMeBadThings, Goldie Lookin' Chain (very very funny live), a bit of The Wedding Present, part of the Blood Brothers, Dropkick Murphys, The Subways, Elbow, The Coral, Queens of the Stone Age, The Killers and The Pixies.....Bands of the day: Queens of the Stone Age and The Pixies, although DMBT and GLC were very good too..Also, got to meet Kasabian and got their autographs.... Saturday- the weather was dry but still wet ground from the previous few days of raining...Ah well, shit happens, just glad to be there with Sarah.. Bands we saw that day: we heard From Autumn To Ashes from the tent before making our way over....saw All American Rejects *shudder*, Biffy Clyro, Juliette And The Licks, The Charlatans, Razorlight, Kings Of Leon and the Foo Fighters. Bands of the day: The Foo Fighters and Razorlight..... Sunday, I finally got the weather I wanted- very warm, very sunny, although Sarah couldn't hack the heat so during the day we had to head back to the tent for half an hour so she could rest up. Bands we saw that day: heard Bullet For My Valentine and Turbonegro from the tent, saw Alkaline Trio, Every Move A Picture, NoFX, heard Iggy and the Stooges from the tent while Sarah was resting, Incubus, Marilyn Manson and the perfect way to end the weekend....Iron Maiden. Bands of the day: Alkaline Trio, Marilyn Manson, and of course Iron Maiden. That was a fantastic weekend of gigging, but it wouldn't have been the same had Sarah not been there. We were back in hers for Monday afternoon, stayed there Monday night...but unfortunately I had to leave on Tuesday evening to catch the plane home, wasn't best pleased about that....But, hopefully Sarah will be coming here for Halloween, so everything works out in the end!! Sorry for the length, but hey, there are my reasons for not being able to comment much lately on DA. If you've survived this long, congratulations! Ciaran

I got headbutted twice in the face as well as hit in the eye by a random object which didn't help matters........FUCK!!!!! Just need to blow off some steam.....Any ideas anyone???

First post in this journal since I opened up my new DeviantART account. Firstly I wanna say that I'm going to make a few posts in the near future, cause I've been writing away lately, just ain't found time to post them online.
Secondly, today's been a pretty strange day...for the past few months or so I've been constantly in high spirits, but today sitting in school the stuff I was listening to was more introspective and dark, and this was repeated in my writing from today....Oh well, hope this is just a temporary blip and hopefully I'll be back in high spirits again in no time. That's all for now, Ciaran.
