No I'm not getting the ROM.. or pre-ordering it.. and I am trying to avoid spoilers.. in the kind of way which means that I'm still allowed to look at screenshots and read about new features.
So in a kind of failing way.

I think I shall be getting HeartGold.. partly because of consistency [I owned Red first & then LeafGreen.. I owned Silver first so shall get HeartGold] because I'm mad like that.. partly because HG is the least popular [yes].. partly because of its silly name.. and partly because I want an ariados and I'm hoping the version exclusives are the same [mainly] as GS.

Ah Webby, guess who else will be taking a year out

A2 results today! I need a BBB to go to my first choice [& lowest grade] university!
And the grand unveil is..
BCC, chem/phys/maths.

At least I got my maths prediction spot on.
But aside from that.. well.. fuck.
Predicted myself an ABC, but even my pessimism turned out to be optimism.
Newspaper also gave me a lovely story about 25% of papers being awarded an A grade, and 1 in 8 pupils getting 3 As.

also, fuck you, exam system. With a cheese grater.

Really the B in chemistry is what I'm most concerned about.
As in, I was always one of those crazy people who were good at it. It was my subject.
I had an A in the AS [AABB chem/phys/maths/latin].. I had marks left over.. I meticulously went over my coursework like someone with OCD rearranging his CD collection.

And yet I still didn't get an A in even that.
Note to self: check that I didn't have a lobotomy at some point last year.

I know I'm not intelligent. Hey, I got a B, and I'm guessing I should shut up and listen to the people who would be grateful to get that.
But I used to be top of the class when I was younger, and even though that's slipped and faded over the years, chemistry was still my "thing". You know, the thing I was good at. It didn't matter that I was crap at sports or fluffed my words when I spoke or showed up poorly in debates or whatever, because in my plans I'd have an A in A-level chemistry sitting there, nudging me in the ribs going, "hey, you know you've got some brains".

Bah. Hey, don't blame me, blame my family. I'm the smart one. The one who, no matter how much I tell them I don't think I've done well, say "nonsense" and give me the thumbs-up. Which is nice, but now when they all call me up in excitement later today, I have to tell them that even I was being too hopeful.
I told my mum this morning my results and the first thing she said was "Oh no.. all that work." Hurr.
At least she doesn't think I was spending this year being a lazy git. Or maybe she will, now. Time shall tell.

Ah well. Adios, exam system. I'm getting a part-time job and an apprenticeship to a tattoo artist. [hey, you thought my high hopes had stopped? ha!]
Eh, I'll wait until I get the module results through. And take some of the exams again, perhaps. Clearing doesn't look too good.

bit tired, though.. camping does make you wake up early D: at about seven/eight [early for me] and then you stay up round the communal campfire bit until three in the morning.

ended up with rather a lot of cider for whatever reason, and the girls brought along a surprising amount of vodka [though any amount is surprising.. is it normal to bring spirits to a festival? really?].. so I think that on saturday evening everyone got a bit giddy.
and we had glow sticks O:
They were setting off some thai lanterns, and I decided to film it on my phone [not sure why, it was dark so.. couldn't see anything except for blobs of light]. Walked towards them to get closer and tripped over a straw bale, yay :v
have the footage of the screen suddenly going black and me going "i deserved that ;;"
aaand then we set a lantern off as well. Whoop :v

Also had a friend step on my toe, break the nail and get blood all over my nice flip-flops. Then the blood washed off in the grass when we spent an hour in the field looking for her lost phone [which I [8D] somehow found], so it doesn't look impressive at all now :c
And I lost my torch. was a really nice wind-up one.

..I mean, the festival! 0o activities and workshops and things to do.. laughter yoga, which was hilarious [norly].. basically we were just told to laugh at random times or run around like kids and it was most amusing.
also random singing.. and a ceilidh.. and peace-flag-making.. and tai chi.. and other things.
the girls went to a burlesque dancing workshop at one point.. yes. the organisers closed the doors and covered the windows so that nobody could see in, ror 0o
so maybe they were just sitting around eating chocolate or something instead, who knows.

Ah well. home now, indeed. Loud house is loud, but it was nice while it lasted.
am lacking hugs.
also i need to clean out the fishtank.

Rather worried about the loaches [link] because they're not as active as they were when I first got them.. and when I fed them on friday I didn't actually see them eat.. think the platies got it all, tsk. and one loach looks very thin.

Because.. how can you not love shedinja? It's such a beautifully simple concept.. we have the bug types, but what becomes of the discarded shell when the original insect grows up? And such a weird idea with the 1HP and wonder guard.
'twas probably the "lol it doesn't breathe" bit in the pokédex which sealed the deal for me.. I love bizarre things.. and shedinja is bizarre.. in a crispy, pokéball-shaped-eyes kind of way.
Oh, and it absorbs the souls of people who look into its back.

3. What is your favourite type of Pokémon? Why?
er.. probably bug type overall, actually. as in.. they're very adorable.. and they need more love. they need more varied trainers than kids & nerds with nets, to be honest.

I know what you've all been thinking: what is mark up to now?
It's been at least some time since he made a journal detailing every single aspect of his life!
Fear not, for here is another one of those long, ridiculous ones.

I have a radiator in my room now! It is little and it is called Pootle. It's on a timer to go on when I go to bed and when I get up, though it's still a little cold.
It also goes BANG every few moments in the way that radiators do.

I'm actually quite excited about giftmas, as far as excited goes for me... I'm not sure why... I'm not thrilled about getting presents or what's on television [except for the QI special].
We're spending it with my mother, uncles, grandparents, eight younger cousins, sister and stepsister.
Which doesn't sound that great.. and probably won't be, thinking about it. Also means we won't be decorating at home, sob.
And yet I am still rather excited.

Oh yes, I finished my nanowrimo.

Well, I need a new journal. So fanfares are appreciated.

Jealous ran out of crickets about a week ago. We'd ordered some from the internets, as they're much cheaper [I keep thinking about them going through the post, though o.o]. But they didn't arrive.
So bought a box from the store in town. Yay driving.
Couple of days later, after mum rang up asking where they were, the two boxes arrived in the post.
They're singing crickets s:
Which means that I've moved them out of my room and into the kitchen, because they chirp loudly. Which is nice, but loud chirping is loud.
Then two more boxes arrive, possibly as a result of that phone call. So now I have four boxes of singing crickets with "silent" written on the box, and one silent box which is actually silent.
They like peppers.

At least Jealous won't go hungry for the next month or so. Though he's grumpy all the time now
The one in the store is adorable. If you hold your hand out against the glass, he'll wave his arms in the air and try to get onto your hand, though he can't get out past the glass >:

These are very-- I repeat, very-- swish glasses.
Well, not really. But they're the kind of reactor ones which become sunglasses in sunlight. I'm still fascinated by them.

I wanted to start GSC again, but couldn't find them, so I started this.
I'm going through the games using only my favourite types [poison and bug]. So it's a bit of a challenge, seeing as they're probably the two weakest types in the game.
Ghost and grass are quite swish, and most of them are poison-type as well, so that works.

So far I'm in Viridian Forest with a lvl 11 team of:

Er... holidays almost over... I have four chemistry papers, two core maths papers, one mechanics paper, two physics paper and two latin essays, of which I've done half a question of the mechanics paper. Eehh.

As for Jealous ["the Baron"], he's been in a bad mood ever since we tried to get the remainder of his shed skin off his tail [he has a kink in his tail and a bit missing-- when he was younger he got it caught in the viv at the shop... chameleons can't regrow their tails-- so skin always gets stuck on it]... he tries to hiss at people now when you go near him. I say "tries", because it's more of a wheeze.
Once you pick him up, however, he's fine.
He doesn't really like the camera, though. He either eyes it nervously, or tries to climb on it :3

Still, he's really grown and his "adult" colours are showing.
We've given up on the waxworms.
I'm quite worried about him, though... he spends all his time hidden in the leaves at the back instead of basking on the vines like he usually does. He only comes down to eat, and then disappears again.
I thought that it might be dehydration, because that can make them depressed, but I spray the viv regularly, and he looks perfectly healthy... maybe he's just becoming bad-tempered? Suddenly afraid that we'll try to pick him up?
I don't know. Maybe I worry too much :<

UK politics update: [link]

Four exciting things have happened recently!
Let's count them together.

One Jealous' heat lamp broke again. OSNAP. So we migrated him to the kitchen, where he sat on a ficus we'd dragged in there for that occasion, and I stood there with a lamp to try and warm him up a little while we tried to put crickets on the tree. In hindsight, this wouldn't have worked. We now have an undetermined number of crickets jumping around the kitchen... somewhere.
Luckily, it was my mum's idea, so she's not complaining, and my sister was not there, so she can't.
Anyhoo. We went out to the reptile centre to get some, leaving him in his viv with the UV light on at least, so we wasn't in the dark, and when we came back he was clinging to the light :<
"But it's bright... it MUST be warm."
Still, he's looking much greener now... much better.

He still won't eat waxworms, though... no interest whatsoever. In fact, I think he's afraid of them.

Two We have a DURM/drum kit... I'm not entirely sure how this happened, but I do know that it's in the garage, which is directly below my room, and some people like to practice at ridiculous hours in the morning... like nine.
Nine a.m.
Still. That's quite spiffy. I just have to complain about everything, because that's my job.

Three I have a car. YES. Technically, it's mine and my sister's, as it's cheaper to insure us on a new old car instead of my mum's... but my sister won't be driving for another year or so. So I'm claiming it. Though I have yet to pass my test T^T
And for those of you eagerly asking, "What kind of car is it? 8D", I reply.. "A BLUE ONE."

Four I've rediscovered WikiHow [link] . This site [the "random article" link below the search box in particular] entertains me for hours. Again.
Some of the articles it spits out are normal, some are strange, but some are absolutely mad. Particularly the "Warnings" on almost every page... seems to take up a lot of imagination in some cases.

CHAMELEON WATCH!
Jealous is doing rather well... though we had some excitement in the last few days... his heat lamp blew. So we bought a new one. And that worked for about a minute, and then blew as well.
Finally, we investigated... two of the live wires had melted together... narrowly avoided a house fire thar.
Several coronaries and yards of insulating tape later, everything seems to be in order.

This is great, because he's still quite small, and it's difficult to find him.
However, when he starts shaking, you can always tell where he is, because the leaves of the plant he's in start shaking as well.
We finally got him some REAL PLANTS a few weeks ago... and he loves them... and sits in them the whole time. Can't really blame him.
But he's getting too big for the fake plant that sticks to the side of the viv... when he sits in it the whole thing sometimes falls off :<

So I haven't updated my "art" for some time, instead turning to the evil that is memes. But all is well, for I have almost finished, and might actually draw something uploadworthy [debatable term].

As compensation, here's a joke.

Three men are walking in the desert, hungry and thirsty. One suddenly catches sight of something in the distance: a shrub with thin slices of meat hanging over its branches.
"Look!" he cries, "It's a bacon tree!"
The first man eagerly runs towards this strange plant, but within a few metres of it a gunshot rings out and he falls down dead.
The second man starts to move forward to help his comrade, but the third stops him.
"No!" he warns. "That's not a bacon tree. It's a ham bush!"

And now for a short story with no real or imaginary purpose.

Our school has a fire alarm, which I have never heard. That's not so much of a problem, seeing as any loud ringing noise is bound to have me, at least, running outside in a panic. We don't even have proper fire procedures, but I guess that we're all saving it for the night.

Anyway. That's slightly less important than the not-very-important point that I am here today to mention. Our school also has a siren. I've never heard this, either, but whilst reading the HOLYCRAPIT'SAFIRE!! instructions inside the classroom during a test on the Aeneid XII [procrastination is the key] I discovered that we do, indeed, have a siren, which provides an aural alternative to the usual fire alarm.

The siren is to be sounded at times of hurricane, earthquake, bomb threat, nuclear fallout, volcano warning, dinosaur invasion or the return of the plague. Why this has to differ from our usual fire alarm, I don't know. The procedures don't seem to be any different, other than to gather a little further away from the buildings [though surely if there was a hurricane or what have you, it wouldn't make any difference, and may even be better to stay inside?].

Maybe the siren's just there for follow the simple theory of bigger threat = bigger noise, or perhaps the school has some kind of "safe" bunker, possibly like the kind that I walked around in Berlin [coincidentally right before going to watch an unrelated anti-nuclear-power-style film at the cinema basically stating that we're all going to die if we build nuclear power stations]. If we do have one, then I firstly want to know where it is, so that I can at least have a look round. There's no use in having a siren if you don't have some kind of concrete-reinforced basement to stop the volcanic ash and the plague from getting in.

Should we have earthquake drills, sitting under desks with pencils between our teeth and our arms wrapped around our heads to preserve our teeth for when the building falls around our ears? How about lectures on finding fresh water not contaminated with radioactive particles, or a way to disguise yourself as a tree to avoid the dinosaurs from catching sight of you?

It was while I was observing this sign, the writing styles of Vergil seeming proportionately unimportant, that I realised the truth. Evidently, the higher-ups in the country are worrying that the world is ending, and it is us, the younger 'uns, that must survive whatever tragedies befall the human race [I knew that there was some good in choosing sixth form over collage]. Indeed, that is also the only way to tempt new teachers into choosing such a career path: the promise of surviving whatever disaster is about to befall us.

We are to be the chosen ones. We are to scurry into a mysterious, yet-to-be-revealed concrete sanctuary several hundred feet below the surface of the earth, listening to the sounds of the planet around us dying. It's obvious why this is not made generally known: while more kids would try to get into schools, those who were studying would not see the point in doing so: what use would it be in this post-apocalyptic world? I made a vow to myself, right there, to live for the moment, and forget about the future until it becomes the present.

Yes, UKTV G2, the channel that I used to watch most, has been revamped [and is showing notably more Question Of Sport than it used to ._.]

I know this, because I'm on a search for chocolate-- nay, a search for FOOD-- and all I found were some Hershey's bars in the cupboard- I have no idea how we got hold of them, but still.

I've never before been patronised by a chocolate bar. I started to open it, and found that I had my finger on a patch labelled "place finger here", and I turned over and my thumb was on a similar patch labelled "place thumb here".
I was so... unnerved by this, I opened the bar from the other end.

I currently can't walk down stairs, because on thursday I went cross-country running, which I haven't done in about three years, and my legs have still failed me.
And I have to go every week now. Joy.
I'm just not good at running for too long... I have no idea what drives the marathon runners to do it... if I had to raise copious amounts of money, I'll just sit in a bath of beans for a few hours, which is far more sensible. You don't have to run everywhere, and at the end of your raising money you have a lovely snack.
I hate baked beans, though. Maybe tomato soup.

I haven't drawn much in... some time... and I really ought to, but can't right now because my hands are covered in orange pen... yes, colouring in my hands was a little more interesting than latin pronouns.

Aaand... still don't like school... half term next week though, hurray! The lessons are all right [although I fail at maths... it gets worse every year. And I used to be some kind of genius. Well.] but the people aren't so good.
This could be because I don't smile often and so I'm not approachable. My "neutral" face looks like my hamster has just died, and if I attempt to smile when I'm not happy enough to smile anyway, I have the look of someone who has stashed your children's bodies in the freezer and will cook them as soon as you invite me over again.
But.. yeah... I just need a hug, really =/
Hugs are good. Better than beans and latin pronouns.

I've gone back to playing [link] which is annoying and old but it passes the time at school, as it's one of the few sites that isn't blocked. dA's not blocked, either, but I can never remember my password... Firefox here does. I must have reset it at least a dozen times in the last month.

And finally... the rugby... cup... thing. I don't actually know what rugby thing is going on, but everyone seems to be in great anticipation of whatever's happening and how we're going to destroy the french. Something like that. It mainly seems to be made up of everyone getting so pissed they can't see and shouting at the television. So just like every other weekend, really, only now it's patriotic.
I'm crap at being patriotic, by the way. I love England, it's wonderful. The people here are pricks and we're crap at everything. And we know we're crap at everything. It's lovely.

Seriously, every time some of them grow up, more babies appear to take their place. It's like a conveyor belt.
If the lovely people at play DOT co DOT uk don't send DEMON by then for me to take with me, I may have a nervous breakdown.

So.
I've had a couple of people hint very recently that I'm being a bit/quite mainstream in some ways... for example in the things I like... and I think that's rather wonderful.

You look around you and see people who are constantly trying to be individual. Individuality is seen as something wonderful, and those who don't have so much of it are looked down on... people who "fit in" by having the same interests as others are looked down on by so many people... who are usually convinced it is the other way around.

This strikes me as very odd. Humans are pack animals. They survive together, and rapidly deteriorate when in solitude. So why is being like other people wrong?

I like being alone. I hate being lonely... so I need to feel like I have something in common with other people when I'm not with others... which is most of the time, considering that I live in the arsehole of nowhere.

I don't go out of my way to be the same as people. I just don't want to be incredibly different. I'm so sick of being "individual", like that's something to be proud of... I know that I'm unique [like everyone else, ba-boom-cha] anyway, so I don't need to heap added things on top of that to keep myself separated even more.

I don't have anything against humans who take pride in being individual.
I just have everything against humans who won't let me take pride in being like others.

Apparently it's quarter past one right now.
That could explain a lot of this "rant".
Pah.

Anyhoo... I'm finally updating, although my computer still can't access the Internet- I'm using a memory stick to transport my deviations over to this computer where I can upload them.

Yes, I did get presents... but my favourite one is an early birthday persent from my dad: a 6.0 megapixels Capilo R4 digital camera [with 7.1x optical zoom]. Yes, I am thrilled. No, I have not stopped playing with it yet.
