Is anyone else tired of seeing glamour shots and just trashy nudes on the front display page? I don't care if they're marked mature or not- this is a site that has a reputation for artwork, not pornographic material. With the >very*< insane ratio of art to what I'd class as porn on this site (although bad); in fact I don't even know why they do allow nudes. Quite frankly I think it should be banned because I'm tired of reporting, requesting and "informing" [ignorant] users on this site in relation to their "art". Argueably there is always material that is a. Either real art, or b. questionable art, but I'd caution to put a ratio that 30:1 pieces actually submitted to this site is seen as inappropriate in my eyes. Anyone catch my drift?

Let's not forget the 13 year olds who sign up to this site see a mature warning (Must be X age or older to view) and reregister to get their "fill". How is this right? Kids aren't stupid and you get the occasional morale mind but if you're being honest, you know I'm correct. I do feel sorry for people who actually do post the occasional nude arts that are genuinely not about how "nice my tits are" and so forth. I'm on that side or any for that matter that depicts true art but I'm calling the general situation as I see it.

/rant. I hope an admin reads this and gives himself a shake enough to meet with staff about this. Easy cleanup or not, I think this site needs it DESPERATELY

As for the Christmas, mine was great, I got a ton of things I wanted (except possibly DVD's but they ARE gifts after all, not owe-backs), those would include a Wii, a few key DVD's I wanted, equipment and servicing on my bass guitar and a book (The Bourne Supremacy).

There may be a slight delay to my postings as currently (Jan 19th) I am studying for my exams which are on Jan 23rd and 28th, after that I shall slave over some new projects as I need some for my college applications and the sooner I start, the better (I figure).

My Portfolio:
I've just finished my portfolio design, it's taken me about 10 tries to be proud of and clear of a final colour scheme and decision; hell now I even have plans to use it. First Client!
Finally, I've gotten my first web design client. It's a local job for a quilting group called the FibreDreamers who my aunt is connected to but hey, who doesn't start small and close?

Mitsubishi Lancer 2008:
The Lancer, as mentioned in my last journal has been started, and now as I'm writting this far on it's way to completion. Hopefully in another week or two it will be done but it's a matter of priorities with my first client, my own portfolios coding and motivation to complete the car in question.

Other Projects:
Another notice would be just small tutorials, resources and the likes that i'm developing now for my portfolio. I'll probably be compiling things for a few months before even opening the sections of my portfolio (so it doesn't look like an empty dump site).

First order of business, my portfolio - as of recent i've had a lot of ideas on redesigning my portfolio making it much simpler and easy to navigate. Within a month and a half I'll have my Portfolio design (completed) and some basic content written; hopefully in the near future I'll learn how to self code but until then I have to wait for a friend to become "free". If you have any ideas for my template or things you'd like me to load onto my template please feel free to drop a comment.

Logo

A new logo has been posted, "YA" standing for "Young Artist" not that I am particularly a very "young" artist but it's my last name and goes well with artist. You can find my new logo in the gallery.

OBEA Competition

I've entered the Ontario Business Educators Associations competition for a poster to display along with their services which will promote business learning and the study of business courses, entry is also posted in the gallery.

Nissan 350Z vector on hold

Due to technical difficulties with a horrible source image i've decided to put that on hold as I start my first human vector of "Helena Livshiz", for all who care to know she's in my classes/ school.

First project:
Basic handles on the pen tool and how a vector works (mainly was a curious experiment about vectors).

Second Project:
Getting correct colouring that looked appropriate

Third Project:
Getting the hang of the pen tools curves, the oval marquee, etc.

Fourth Project:
Gradients, lots of nice blending and transitions between colours with care to highlights and shadows.

Sadly in all those projects I've spent more time on a specific area such as the line art, or the colouring, etc. and it's brought down the quality of my vector. For my next one (though i'm still searching for a HQ image to vector) I'm going to attempt to spend much more care on all areas of vectoring for hopefully a great result.
