Geeez...it's been 6 months since I have even logged in to my DA account

Quick update:
1. Life is kind of boring after college...

I really want to post wedding pictures as soon as my mom sends me the disks - they turned out really great!

I have a few random pictures to post whenever I get time. Between work and being a wife and doing things for everyone else, I have very little spare time these days. School was a fantastic place to take pictures and stuff, but now I can't do that

I know I have been SUPER slack on here lately, but I just finished up college!
I graduated on May 9th with 2 degrees - a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Horticulture.
With the current state of this god awful thing we call the economy, jobs in my field are few and far between.

So,

I'm debating about applying for a few photography jobs.
I'd love to get a portfolio together, but since I'm probably considered a "beginner" or "amature," I'm going to need some input on which photos to include.

Also,

I'm planning on updating tomorrow-ish with several new photos from Swansboro.
I just got back from a gloomy vacation (mostly because of the weather)
but, I got several great photos (hopefully)

I know I've been super slack on here lately ( i have 873 deviations that I haven't looked at and I apologize ).

Today was the first day in ages that I've uploaded something other than stupid snapshots that I've taken with the digital cam.
These were taken with the digital, but there was more thought into them than the others that I've posted...
So if you couldn't tell, we got some good snow

I'm on spring break, and it snowed.
It's cool though cause lucky for me, I am one of the few people that enjoys a good snow fall.
I dropped off 2 rolls of film this evening to get developed. One of them I have no clue what is on it - and the other is a mix of higher quality snow images. I think there are a few from the park, etc.
But honestly - the one roll of film I just found rolling around in my camera bag.
I want to have some of them edited and posted by this weekend.

School started back the 18th, so I've been super busy trying to stay on top of things.

I haven't been able to take any pictures other than point and shoot stuff with the digital - and most of them have been self portraits.

However, tomorrow we are going on a site visit for class in Lexington, which I've never been to. We are doing a brownfield site (this is just an old factory or industrial site that over time developed a hazard to the community like chemicals, asbestos, etc...) So we are going to an old furniture plant, and having a tour through downtown. I have the cameras packed and ready. I finally get to use my tripod that Josh got me for Christmas too

Hopefully they'll be up soon because I'll have to have them ready for class by next week.

I'm leaving for home Friday right after class, and staying til Monday, and I'm moving into my NEW APARTMENT!! I can't wait!

I should be getting some new pictures if I have time. The gem festival and the craftsfair is at home this weekend, and I'm going camping. I really wanted to have pictures of Luke's band but we didn't get to go to his show

For those who don't know, the Gem Festival and the Craftsfair are two events that take place the first weekend in August back home in the mountains. Two big fields turn into an outdoor marketplace while the shows are in town. They are full of different artists of different trades. The craftsfair lasts 2 days and has everything from wood carvings to local pottery and quilts. They also have a big selection of Photography and Paintings. The Gem Festival lasts a week and brings more jewelers and geologists. (that one is my favorite)
I'm SO excited!

there's a guy on my watch list that I think is a great photographer. i comment and

on the stuff I like, but never hear a thank you or anything. maybe its because I'm from a family where manners were drilled into my head, but when someone gives you a compliment, you say thank you. I've noticed that when ever someone else gives him a compliment or an opinion, he replies. I've never heard anything back. It's happened several times, and I'm tired of it. Most people are happy to get a

or a comment and even happy to get critiques on what could've made their work better. So since he's shown the lack of manners and respect, I'm removing him from my watch list.

Oh, and to those of you who were featured in the 10 journal...,
I know I said I would keep it up for a while, but no one reads it anyways, so it didn't matter.

As if you can't tell, I'm kinda bitter towards all of DA right now. People are just being rude and I can't deal with it. I put up with enough of it daily in person. When I first got on here people were nice and respectful. Now its full of immature kids who have nothing better to do than start fights. Its full of people stealing other people's work. It's full of jealousy. What happened to art being art no matter what? Isn't that what art is? If you go to the Smithsonian Museum of Modern Art in D.C. you don't just see nature photographs or impressionism paintings. There are so many sculptures, paintings, etc. of so many different themes and skill levels. There is a set of paintings that are huge, and they are on canvas and are made of just 2 colors. A few of them are one solid color. Most people don't call that 'art', but if it were hanging in a room in a house, the color could create a mood. There are some of Warhol's works in there; I don't know many that appreciate pop art. Its just ridiculous how judgmental people are.

I will be 21

I am excited; not because I drink or anything, but just because its a big birthday.
A big [optional] field trip is planned for our class that day, and I don't have to work.
So far, the day sounds great. Hopefully it will go as planned.

Josh, his mom and I went to my hometown to visit this past weekend. It was so fun. I got a few pictures, but not as many as usual. Hopefully I will have them edited and put up by the end of the week.

Thanks everyone for commenting and critiquing the new pictures from the girls' graduation. It's appreciated very much. I promise I will get back to commenting at the end of the week. I didn't sign on for 2 days and had 102 deviations waiting on me.

I almost have 2000 pageviews! I know that's nothing compared to others on here, but it's a big step for me. In both accounts I have on DA, I've never reached the 2000 mark. So if someone wants to do a screenshot of the 2000th view and submit it, i will do a big feature.

Summerschool is so much more stressful than regular school.
I'm working too...and just started planning my wedding!
I'm deciding on colors and need some help. I've got it narrowed down to 3 different ones though.
1. Me wearing off-white, bridesmaids some shade of green and off-white and green flowers with little yellow accents
2. Me wearing off-white, bridesmaids in a bronze color with cream and green accents
3. Me wearing off-white, bridesmaids black and red accents.
Our new church is done in off-white and green (not sure what shade of green though) i get to go see it this weekend.
If you guys have any other suggestions as far as colors go, bring em on! I'm having trouble deciding

We went to Swansboro, NC.
He took me out to eat at this really nice Italian restaurant, we ate outside overlooking the water. It was perfect. No one else came out there the whole time and the weather was perfect.
After we ate, we went down to the beach where....he asked me to marry him

my ring is gorgeous and I couldn't be happier!
No specific date set yet, but it will be after I graduate, so at least a year.

Josh and I made a spontaneous trip to my parents house and spent the weekend. I needed that vacation so much. We went camping (just josh, mom, dad, my brother and me), and Saturday we went to Cataloochee. As soon as I finish that roll of film...if they turn out, they'll be up. We saw several elk, and I hope I got good pictures of them.

So, it would be nice if you'd comment and critique on the new photos.

HOWEVER,
It is supposed to be a place to let out your feelings without being judged.
I have read so many comments from 15 and 16 year olds who haven't been out long enough to go through real things in life and they are so critical of others.
I know much of it is teen angst and immaturity.
It still really makes me mad.
I have strong empathy for other people who go through things, and I don't like to be mean.
I have such a hard time understanding how other people have the right to criticize how others live when they have no idea who the person is.

Hopefully, some of them will come by and read this journal - and see that what they are doing is not necessary.

_{Well, I figured it was time for an update.
It's been over a month.
I have been so busy.
I'm failing my most important subject in school, and I'm in debt about 3,000 dollars because I went on a big spending spree over the last 2 months.
My bipolar-ness has been going crazier than usual, and for the last week or so, I've had a different experience, and instead of having depressive episodes, I've had a full blown manic episode. My first ever.
This week has been one big mess.
I have tons of new photos, but just havent' had time to get them up.
I'm going to the zoo in Asheboro on Friday, so I should have even more.
I need to go get my camera lens cleaned....
Oh, and that powerpoint presentation I had to give on Photography and Landscaping turned in to a lecture on Landscape Photography, but it went amazing. Thanks to those of you have gave suggestions.
I guess that's it for now.
To those of you who pray,
please keep me in your prayers.
I'm going through alot right now and sometimes its hard to stay close to God when I get in my moods. Things just go so much easier when I can stay close to him.

As of right now, on the one I have already, I'm running Vista on top of XP which has eaten up all 80GB of my memory.

Tomorrow I will (unfortunately) be running Vista on 160GB of memory!!! Oh I can not wait. No more having to run one thing at a time, no more photoshop locking up every time I click, and no more backing up thousands of pictures a million times.

School wasn't near as bad as I had anticipated.
I now have 16 hours, 2 classes on MWF, and one class on Tues/Thurs. and 2 online classes. All in all, not bad.
My earliest class is at 10

I dread it.
I never have before.
I try to keep positive, and think "well, I really only have one more year until I graduate college with a Bachelor's degree..." but that can only take you so far.

I really have some cool pictures to upload off my digital camera, but I can't proceed with that until my lovely mother puts my usb cord in the mail because I left it at home

Most of the really cool pictures are of a very serious game of "jenga" that took place at our church's lock in on New Year's Eve. I can't wait to get them up! Until then, I probably wont have much up here.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday. I know I did. I'm even more excited about New Years because I finally get to be with my Josh after a whole week and a half! Its the longest we've ever been apart. I can't wait to see him today. I guess he'll get tackled at the airport

As for photo news:
For Christmas, my lovely Joshua bought me a new zoom lens and a tripod. Both were needed terribly. They're amazing too. I have 3 rolls of film that need to be developed soon

It's going to be after new years though. I don't know how they'll turn out; most of them are of my little cousins and the kids at the Christmas Play at church. So just incase, be prepared for a huge update

I got good use out of my digital camera too, so those will be up eventually.

I would've posted more, but I am very self conscious right now.
The medication I've been on has made me gain 20 pounds in the last month. In the pictures it almost looks like I'm pregnant, but I'm not.

i'm officially diagnosed with Bipolar 2 disorder along with Seasonal Depression. I have new meds and I've only had them for a week, but I can tell a difference already. I'm getting more involved in church, and I look forward to the next church services. I guess you could say I get excited about going.

on a lighter note,

had an awesome day with moose taking pictures. i can't wait to get them developed. Hopefully I can get at least one roll tomorrow. I have another one started, but I think it's only half way finished. I took several pictures of downtown Greensboro from the parking deck last night, so hopefully they won't be too blurred from camera shake. I really need a tripod...

The skit is performed by teenagers, but I think anyone of any age could be affected by it. I haven't been moved this much in a long time. As a Landscape Architect major, I have to see things and observe the land every day. My favorite pictures to take are of plants and flowers or other things in nature. I think sometimes we get so carried away by school, work, relationships, etc., that we forget about our most important relationship in our lives and that's the one we have with God. I know I personally fail miserably at thanking God every day for all he's done and for everything that I know he will do.

I have 2 rolls of film that need to be developed. I went to the arboretum thursday morning and took several. I hope they turn out good. I hadn't taken any nature shots lately. I also got some of downtown greensboro the other night. I should have more band pictures as well.

It started Tuesday; i woke up and my eyes were swollen shut and itchy, so I decided to wait it out and see if it would get better. Well, today was day 4, and my nose was swollen this morning along with my eyes, so I went to the Urgent Care place and had to get a steroid shot

On top of all that, I developed a sinus infection, was tested for strep, they tested my sugar and it was high (so I go back in 2 weeks for a diabetes test), and I had blood taken today.

I'm so sore.
Its such a beautiful day too, and I really want to get outside and get some pictures before the leaves get gone, but it was all I could do today to walk the dog. (I'm house sitting for my professor again).

ugh.

I'm back from vacationing.
Fall Break was fun.
School was going full speed ahead today

I woke up this morning with an allergic reaction to Clorox.
Here's a tip: If you clean with Clorox, dillute it first, then wash your hands thoroughly afterwards. I did neither of these things, then rubbed my eyes. They are still almost swollen shut.

Sorry for the massive submission of pictures. I hope you all will still check em all out. They're not from the same events.
My lovely laptop needs a new fan, and it shuts off when I try to use it for more than 5 minutes, so I'm in the studio doing bulk updates on everything.

Josh and I went back to my house for the weekend (my house in the mountains, not the house in Greensboro)
We went up to Mtn. Mitchell and got some beautiful photos. I'm still waiting on it to cool down in Greensboro to get out and get some new pictures. It was 56 degrees at my parent's house this weekend! It was SO nice.

School is super busy - having a 19 hour semester blows.
However, this past week I cut my work hours at the daycare WAY down (I'm talking like 5 hours a week)...so that should help out tremendously. I should also have some new pictures posted of some studio sketches too. They'll probably go straight to scraps, but feel free to comment them anyways

I finally got my film developed from Swansboro...(as if you haven't noticed)
They look really grainy to me, but I'm not sure if its the CD quality or my film. I got them printed out too, and the prints look fine, so I"m guessing its the CD. I also purchased a new digital camera

I got the Canon A560. I LOVE it. Its so much better than my other one. I havent taken any cool pictures with it yet, because I've been getting ready for school. I do have a few party pics though, and I may post a few of them. I used the Canon to take em.

I took a few pictures while i was down there - most of them are of sunsets and shrimp boats. I am getting the film developed in a little while, so hopefully I can get them up later tonite. Tomorrow I'm going shopping for a new digital camera. I have decided that after seeing 40 blurry pictures from the weekend, its time to upgrade. I'm never buying an HP camera ever again. I'm looking at a canon 7.1mp and a nikon coolpix. Polaroid has an 8mp out, but ive never known anyone who used a polaroid digital, so Im kinda nervous about buying one. I'm leaning more towards the canon since I have a 35mm one that I love and my printer is a canon and it has amazing quality. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. I'm looking for something around $200, since I'm on a college budget, and my higher quality pictures are taken with the 35mm. I only use my digital for point and shoot stuff, and I use it on a daily basis. Its always in my purse, and everywhere I go, so it needs to be durable.

School starts in 6 days!!!

Matt got back in town this weekend, and his younger brother moved here for school. Leslie is back in town as of yesterday, and I couldn't be happier. Whit will be here Friday, and we are going to party. This year is going to be amazing. Last year it was just Leslie, Matt, Whit and me. This time we have 2 new additions; Josh and Travis. It'll be me and Josh, Leslie and Travis, and Whit and Matt. I think we are all going swimming down at the quarry Saturday, so expect a few pictures from that.

August the 20th couldn't get here sooner
and I couldn't be happier.

I'm ready to be busy again. I love work, but having 12 2 year olds every single day gets old quick. I'm going to stick to my plants for a career. No way in hell could I ever be a teacher. I have a new respect for them after having to be one. I'm so sorry I've been horrible at responding to all my friends on DA. I just always check it and have to run off to something. However, I do look at what ya'll do, and lots of you are improving (not that you were bad), but you can tell you are putting more effort or something into it. So keep up the good work. I swear when school starts I'll be back on here like usual. I've uploaded a few pictures from work. I have found that children are amazing little creatures and they are so fun to photograph. I'll keep putting up more as I get them edited. I have TONS.

Nothing else is really going on. I took Josh home to meet my parents this past weekend, and that went really well. I'm going to the beach with him and his family tomorrow and we'll be back Monday evening. I'm ready for a vacation.

Things are still going great. Still have the amazing boyfriend, which only gets better every day. Everyday at work, I realize how much I adore children, and they amaze me constantly. I teach in the 2 year old room at a daycare. I'm not going into education or anything ... as most of you know, but I LOVE it.
I'm still taking pictures, but I'm running out of things in Greensboro to shoot. There are a few old warehouses and factories I want to go play with, but I am kinda worried about going alone because they're on the rough side of town. I realized I love shooting at night, but I need a tripod.
I know I've been slack with the comments and responses to things, but thank you so much to all of you who continue to leave me messages and things, and I promise when August gets here and school gets started back, I'll be online more. Summer is just too much fun

i'm back to not sleeping again.
i think its because i've been stuck at the apartment for the last week with nothing to do.
i had plans tonite, and i was all ready for them to go through, and then i got the phone call that there was too much homework to hang out. damn summer school.
so my initial reaction was pissed, so i got in the car and drove with no intentions of getting anywhere. I just got on the interstate the first place I knew of and headed west. I ended up west of Winston (about 30-35 min away) and decided i better turn around and head back because i was low on gas and i'm broke until tomorrow. There's some sort of relief in driving 80mph down the interstate with no destination with the windows down and the radio up so loud it vibrates your seats and drowns out your thoughts.

7 posters (a fender one, a guitar chords one, the beatles, iron maiden, the doors, and led zeppelin), 2 16x20 collages (in honor of rock and roll), and 2 11x17 mini posters (one of keith richards from the rolling stones, and the other one is Hendrix)

13. Seen anything weird lately?:
yep. saw a very strange plant today

Pay off college, get a house, take care of the parents, and find my 67' Corvette Stingray and fix it up

I wouldnt change a thing. If events didn't happen, we would live in a perfect world, and that's not possible. The things we go through in life is what makes us who we are.

Even with trying the different kinds of art that are submittable to DA has opened me up a lot. I love photography, but I've really come to love digital art; something I've never been into before. Using the tablet to create things is awesome too.
I always wonder what the past artists of the world would think if they could see what technology can do today...
It's 4:03am and I'm not one little tiny bit sleepy...and I've been up since 7am...
