They're not pissed because an animal died, they're pissed because I chose to kill a cat instead of a dog.

It was both completely ridiculous and kind of the highlight of my day.

1. I'm a bit strange when it comes to fandom activity; I'm almost never vocal about my favorite character, usually choosing to be loudest about another character I find to be interesting. I don't know why I do that, but I almost never openly mention who my favorite characters from various fandoms actually are. That said, I wonder how many people would be surprised to find out that my favorite character from Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is actually not Kristoph Gavin.

2. When it comes to heroes and villains, I tend to gravitate toward the villains; I've done this since I was a child. Huge deviations from normalcy and sanity fascinate me, as does trying to figure out what caused the change and shift away from acceptable behavior. It's an obsession with psychological aspects, I suppose - I've written painfully long dissertations on various 'darker' fictional characters (Kristoph Gavin, Broken Pedestal Mentor extraordinaire, being the most recent) simply because I can. I tend to find heroes bland by comparison to their villainous counterparts, and only recently did someone explain to me that heroes can be just as interesting when one considers the difficulty in staying on the path of righteousness when the world is coming down around you - at the same time, I haven't explored this nearly enough yet to shift my preference away from the villainous characters.

3. I have one of the worst tastes in movies. I got it from my dad, who thinks Starship Troopers is genius and the 1998 movie-version of Lost in Space is a cinematic masterpiece; the only movie he's ever thought was actually terrible was The Avengers, also from 1998. I'm in complete agreement on all of the above points. The part that most people don't know is that my dad and I have a strange interpretation of bad movies, based around the idea that everything is satire. Seriously, it works every time. Pick out the worst movie you can think of and when you watch it, keep in mind that it's supposed to be satire. Be amazed as the movie suddenly becomes tolerable. In certain cases, the movie becomes absolute genius.

4. I haven't found a single Disney movie yet that hasn't made me cry. The worst offenders in terms of causing Floods and Floods of Tears (in descending order) are Old Yeller, The Lion King, Brother Bear, Bambi and Wall-E. Brother Bear made me feel particularly stupid - I wasn't crying because I was sad half the time; I was crying because the scenery was pretty.

5. Even though I tend to be very loud in public and I go up and talk to several people when I'm in crowds, I'm actually painfully shy. I generally talk to people so they won't think I'm angry or being standoffish through snobbery, but I'm actually terrified of being in large groups of people. I love going to conventions, but the crowds are always so scary...

6. Of the 37 friends I have on LiveJournal, I've met 10 of them in person. I'm currently living with two of them.

7. I'm a cosplayer. I'm also terribly allergic to wool, which makes getting suits made for cosplay into a rather interesting procedure. My current favorite was made for a Kristoph Gavin cosplay; we ended up making it out of crape. My seamstress hated me for it at first, but we both ended up insanely happy with the final product.

8. I'm 5'4"; when I was 17 years old, I weighed 354 pounds. I'm currently just over half that weight and feel so much better for it.

9. I'm schizophrenic. I was diagnosed with disorganized schizophrenia at the age of 11; I've also had symptoms consistent with manic-depression and was bulimic a few years ago. Currently doing better, though, much to the relief of...well, just about everyone.

10. I love horror movies; the Saw movies are my favorites. However, even though it's a G-rated movie, one of the only movies to leave me psychologically scarred was, weirdly enough, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The one with Gene Wilder, not Johnny Depp. For some reason, that movie was absolute nightmare fuel for me, and I still can't sit through it without curling up into a pathetic little ball.

That would be a big NO, captain.

However, Elite Beat Agents continues to cheer me up. Bringing a man back from the grave to spend Christmas with his family? We got that, with a little help from Chicago. Massive lava golem threatening a theme park? Pfft, we have Good Charlotte. Evil aliens literally petrifying anyone who brings the beat? Don't worry, we have Hoobastank and the Rolling Stones.

Ace Attorney is still a major happy-bringer, but I appear to have misplaced my copy of Apollo Justice and my roommate is borrowing the other three games, so I'm hanging out with Commander Kahn and the Elite Beat Divas for now.

Lack of artistic stuff = not good.
General mood = good.

Not sure how that works, but it's balancing out. It's not apathy, as I'm pretty happy. This stuff used to be my life; I don't know what's going on.

God, their band name is terrible.

Too many people that were close to me have died lately. And Michael Crichton.

So needless to say, I got back from Sakura Con in one piece, after having the best damn time of my life. Haven't been around very much other than just sort of bouncing around from gallery to gallery and...staring at stuff. Because I'm good at that.

Had a few medical issues. Totally resolved now. Nothing serious.

I've got Miles Edgeworth cosplay...stuff almost completely ready.

In 13 days I'm getting the hell out of Dodge and going to live with teh Kerrie for five weeks. w00t!

Kind of mad at my psychiatrist, but that's how it goes. Schizophrenia is one of the few things in my life that actually IS serious business.

Not much else. More later, maybe. And hopefully this time "later" won't consist of months.

...and, uh, not the best depiction of my mood, there, but the Cheerful icon is so CUTE. And it's pretty close, so nyah. XD

The Columbine Fic.
I've gotten some response to this, both here and on LJ, and I want to say the following things.

+ It is NOT intended to be a pro-Columbine-killers story. I wrote it to practice my characterization skills and give some character to people who will forever be enigmas. Apparently I did my job so well that people think I am pro-Columbine-massacre, when I most definitely am not. I realize this interpretation will happen because I took the point-of-view of one of the killers (third-person close-focus) as opposed to staying strictly third-person omniescent.

+ In no way do I agree with what happened and what Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris did. It is a work of fiction that was intended as a writing exercise and a way to get my feelings out, not to say that I think all jocks or generally horrid high school students need to die.

+ Yes, I was horribly picked on in high school. That's part of the reason I wrote that at all; I feel like I can understand them. That does not mean that I agree with violence.

Job Interviews.
So I went for the job interview with the county office of education on Wednesday. I did all right, I think. Average, if nothing else. I'll know in 3-8 days if I got the job.

Went for the Sea World audition on Saturday, and might I say that I gave the audition of my life? I kicked ass and took names, people. That being said, I don't think I got the job. If I did, I'll be pleasantly surprised in two weeks.

Writing Competitions.
I'm entering several nationwide writing competitions - yes, it's that season again - with the grand prize for one of them being a good $3000 and a chance to meet with publishers. Hee!

Sakura Con.
I'm leaving for Sakura Con in...11 days? I think? Either way, Thursday of next week. If anyone reading this happens to be out there, again, I'll be the Pegasus running around with the crappy wig and no Sennen Eye because making that thing makes me sad. XD I can never figure out how large to make it. But anyway, yes, Sakura Con coming up, in Seattle. I have my plane ticket and hotel all figured out. Now I just have to borrow some money from Dad and it'll all be good.

Other Miscellanious Crap.
Not too much happening on the home front. Just kind of kicking it. Trying to find a place in San Diego.

Not too much happening. I've been roleplaying a lot and preparing for Sakura Con in April. If anyone out there happens to see this and is going, I'll be dressed as Pegasus (from Yu-Gi-Oh!) for the majority of the three days, because I'm horrifically short on funds. Expect the Video Duel outfit for Friday and the red outfit for Saturday and maybe Sunday if I can stand to look at it any longer. If not, I'm bringing Bandit Keith cosplay, too, so that might be me on Sunday. I don't know yet. XD

It just occurred to me that I'm going to need at least two bags, as props and shoes are special and shouldn't be in with my clothes because I'm going to have enough clothes to dress an army as it is. Win!

New sketch up, too. Fun fun.

In other news, I have an audition set up with Sea World in San Diego for March 24th. Yay!

So I've had severe conjunctivitis in both eyes for the last three weeks or so. Hence, no updates. Whoops.

(For those who don't know..."severe conjunctivitis" is a fancy way of saying I've had a wicked case of pink eye. XD; It just sounds more badass?)

Anyway, I haven't been able to see properly out of both eyes for a while. I've been extremely light-sensitive, such that I spend a disproportional amount of time lying in the dark.

Relationship Status

In other news, I'm...not quite single anymore. I mean, I'm still pretty damn single as far as official stuff goes, but there's someone who's interested. We're taking it really slowly right now, because she's coming down off a bad relationship at the moment, but I'm going to be there for her. And the world rejoiced, except for the part where the world probably doesn't care.

Upcoming Projects

...insert standard whining here. I need to finish the four sketches I haven't yet, and I have a bigass block besides. My eyes haven't been cooperating anyway, so it's not like it matters, I guess.
