Just a lot of work, not a lot of sleep, a lot of substance-based avoidance, a lot of injury (both mental and physical), a lot of anger, a lot of pain, a lot of bullshit.

What can you do? I just realized that I don't remember the codes to set emoticons and such... let's try one  and see if that works.

:yell:
:metal:
:food:
:fish:
:feet:
:face:
:douchebag:

I'm in the weirdest mood ever.
I've recently been playing with some editing tools on my computer and I've developed a new technique that you can quite readily see in my most recent posts. A couple of those are older pictures that I didn't like as much when they were in colour, but once I do the manipulation, it just works. I'm probably going to be hooked on this for a bit... hopefully it doesn't get too boring for the watchers.

I'm hoping to get out and do some photo shoots soon. I've been training very hard for the last 2 months to earn my next belt in Hapkido. My test is today. I'm a little nervous... hope I don't forget any of my 230 techniques.. and hope my limbs survive the process. After today though, I'm going to have a much lighter training schedule so I'm going to pick up the slack on my photography.

Anyhow, let me know what you think. Feel free to give constructive criticism... I'm always looking for pointers.

I've been learning a lot about photography (always via the hard way of course). I've had some good friends look at my online gallery and they came back with some major positive feedback. So I've been doing some photo shoots with Christine and learning more about the particulars of the art. I've learned that I need another good light source. My homemade softbox if working wonders, but it seems that a second is required if you want to light a model properly. I also need a good backdrop(s) and a backdrop stand. I don't know how many times I've taken a picture where the pose, expression, and sharpness are all perfect, but there's a goddamn computer in the background (like I said, I learn the hard way... many times over).

Good news though: since viewing my photos, my friends are offering their services in terms of painting a cool backdrop for me, as well as volunteering themselves as subjects. Sweet! I'm happy about this.

So I don't have everything up an running yet. I'd like to eventually have some sort of makeshift studio with various lighting, backdrops, etc. I'm also looking into perhaps purchasing a used digital SLR (cause I'm so goddamn poor) to expand my technical capabilities.

I still don't have as much free time as I'd like, but that's ok. I'm doing a lot of shit...I'm getting ready for my Hapkido grading where I have 220+ techniques to do from memory, I'm playing my guitar again (which is nice) and I'm also looking at Santa Barbara as a possible spot for relocation. Busy times.

Anyhow, hopefully I can keep on this a bit better. I desperately want to do some more photography. I'll make it happen... you'll see!

like a vertebrae... yeah. lame I know. but I'm in a good mood even though it's 3am and I'm messing with my already fucked sleep schedule. My new job is great... got my first paycheck and I gotta say... I am so glad I left my last one . Sure I had a rocky start when it comes to sleep and commuting... but I am starting to feel revitalized.

So after a breif hiatus, I plan to return to taking pictures of everything and anything I see. I have a few photo shoot ideas in mind so I'll be getting some new stuff up soon. Just before I went to shambles there I made myself a soft box (cause I was so goddamn poor) which actually seems to work ok. So I'll be trying that out too to see if I can get some decent results. It's pretty tough when you think your stuff rocks... and then you learn a bit... and suddenly you can see many many mistakes that you wish you could have avoided. Oh well. We can't all be *RavenMacabres or *josemanchados but we can sure as hell recycle what they do and pawn it off as our own (Just two of the fabulous photographers on this site).

And now I'm adjusting to waking up at 7am (instead of 11am since I'm no longer working from home ) and so by the time I get home I'm already tired.
well.. since i've been on, I've put up about 34 photos. It's really interesting to see the difference between what I think is good and what others like (Turns out that it's true... sex does sell). But I've actually received a lot of good feedback on everything.

I've really gotten some great comments from fantastic photographers like JACAC [link] and HighStatic [link] who's galleries in themselves have gotten me to be more attentiove to presentation as well as the composition. I find that I'm spending a bit more time tweaking levels and such and adding borders to photos. All I need now is better equipment. I've learned to love my little Cannon SD300 for things like concerts or other places where camera's aren't allowed (Sin City for example... heh) and it does allow for a decent amount of control... but I look at my dad's digital Minolta SLR .... and wow, that thing is awesome. Well... maybe in a few paychecks.

Anyhow.. I just wanted to say thanks to those who offer advice and praise, and thanks to those just swinging by and checking it out. That's what it's all about anyways.

So I've finally added some deviations to my profile. Been meaning to do that for a while. I've already had a bunch of people add my photos as favorites, which is awesome considering that I'm just starting out.

So first and foremost, I want to get feedback on my stuff be it photos or drawings or something else. I'm a jack of all trades when it comes to art so I'll take any constructive criticism or commenting as beneficial to my growth as an artist.

I'm starting with my photos simply because they're the easiest to start with. My drawings, I have to scan into the computer and then I want to paint them. I have a sculpture that's in progress which I'm hoping to have finished if I ever get some time to work on it again. Like I said, jack of all trades... master of none.
