Thanks for visiting.

Most of the stuff here has some age to it. I've been rescanning and touching up so they work for printing.

If anyone wants to use any of the images in my gallery for any reason please do...a contact and credit would be nice but you fill your boots. Copying digital pictures is a trivially easy thing and I know that people will do it if they want to whatever my thoughts on the matter are. Obviously, if you make money off the back of my work without cutting me in then I will do what I can to shut you down. That's just naughty.

If you want some pointers; Woman as Vagina recieved a DD and is my most ' deviation and fuck continues to receive a lot of attention.

Although Woman as vagina is my most faved deviation it is interesting to note that it has been faved once for every 58 people that have looked at it, whereas Fuck is faved once for every 18 people that look at it, thus, effectively, making fuck my most popular deviation. As fuck is just a bit of a joke thrown together for a laugh and woman is a deep commentary on existential pain played out in the battle field of the cultural and historical tension of women and their bodies and how that issue is handled and mistreated in the media and shit like that; I can only conclude that you lot are a bunch of philistines.

My favorite is Mother
---------------

I am not responsible for your actions.

For those of you who have never been here before, welcome to Rizole, here is some information about Rizole

Rizole talks about himself in the third person.

Rizole's important work was done in the late 80's, early 90's and is represented here in the gallery by the ink work peices.

The goal of these pictures is to understand something about biological form and anatomy and how light falling on a form gives it weight and mass.

Thematically the work is about self/body/other and how the body is the mediating substrate through which self and other dynamically know, form, inform, and deform each other.

Rizole works in ink because pens are ubiquitous. The work, what it represents, owes something to the media used.

Rizole recieved a DD on March 30th 2006 for Woman as Vagina. Love and to Ladyo for the nomination.
Rizole is not responsible for your actions.

So my suscription ran out today. For the last few days I've been subjected to those beauties you can see in my latest deviation.

When I paid my subscription it was on the understanding that I would get no more ads.

BUT!

Every time I submit a deviation I'm asked if I want a print account.
Everytime I go to my page from a different PC I have to see an advert and click off it before I can log on - I can't log on from the page that displays the advert.
When I got my first 1000 views of "Woman as Vagina" I had another offer to get a print account.

Obviously dA is a business and needs to make money but the type of nasty, emotional blackmail marketing evidenced in my latest deviation is really quite low. Seriously...what effect are these adverts gonna have on the vulnerable. The tone of these adverts is just awful - and don't forget that that is all these are - adverts. I think this shows that the bottom line is more important to the admin than the user experience.

Deviant art is a great place but that is because of the people here and the communities they make. However, the type of administration a site has has an effect on those using it and this kind of bottom feeding does nothing for the place.
----------------

And as an aside - if you aren't subscribed, get firefox [link] and install the adblock extension [link] You'll never have to look at an advert again.

Further update........Nope, it's trollyed. Time to talk to the vendors.

Update............The fricking thing works! I am back in the driving seat.

For those of you that might be interested, I've recovered all the data I thought I might of lost. I used miniPE which I downloaded off mininova

Whilst investigating this I came accross bartPE which is worth a look at if you are technically minded and need to do a certain level of PC administration. I haven't had a go yet but it's on my list.

I'm reinstalling my computer tonight.

-------------------

So I haven't been around much lately. I have hundreds of messages I haven't looked at. People have even stopped leaving comments on my frontpage and now that It looks like I have my PC fixed, my subscription runs out in four days.

On the up side; I submitted a piece of work to =carnival-macabre some time in may. They have finally managed to put it in thier gallery over three months later. Now that's what I call relaxed.

--------------------

I've been having a go at blogging recently. I can't get away with using deviantArt at work, my jobs too public, but I can get away with blogging. If you are interested then I'm sure you'll work it out.

Apologies to ~ladyo. We are thousands of miles apart but you can still probably see this great big L I have on my forehead.

---------------

Having run out of spare time, computer and motivation to do any actual art with any merit I have recently taken up the displacement activity of running polls. I have attempted a postmodern approach of combining the deep and meaningful with the vapid and pointless in a provokative, tongue-in-cheek, ironic cynicism and I am now back to do inane, scientific anaylsis on the results. After all, what good is science if its not used for evil?

-----------------------------------------
In the last two polls I added a "Stop wasting my time with this crap" option, recieving 14% of the votes in one and 18% in the other. What I find interesting is that these people even bothered to vote at all. Seriously, turn off, do something more existentially fulfilling than voting in polls you never wanted to look at in the first place, unless of course it was a comedy vote, in which case....no wait...I'm confused now.

Winning Poll options:
------------------------
Intellegent Design?:
"Oh no!" with 65% of the vote.

Favorite comedy food:
"Any malformed vegatable" with 29% (a disapointing run for custard on that one)

Terrorism?:
"A political device to enable Goverment to gain more powers" wins with 33%

I was touched and shocked when my nice, safe European worldview underwent a bit of a gestalt change by ~abstract-plain's post on the matter.
Here is an extract:

"Day by day we se people dissapear, people we know kidnapped by terrorist groups, most of them are drug dealers, narcotraficants. Others are very important people behind big business, or the porn and pederast industry.
We dont have to be in a war to have terrorists.

enough, it makes me sick to think about it"

I've been working with someone who is from Kuwait today. Her family was from India origianally. Her first language is English and she has come to the UK to do a degree in Business and Finance. Despite the difference in background, I was suprised to find our cultural and linguistic references very similar, even down to using what I would have thought to be local colloquialisms and slang.

Gives me a bit of a viceral jarring to realise in this increasing globalised world where cultural and geographical differences seem to get smaller and smaller, there are still places out there that actually experience real terror daily, as opposed to this generally fake, media and govermentally hyped, nice, polite, middle class stuff we have over here.
------------------------
Has anyone noticed how Microsoft has changed the Icon for IE7 to incorporate some of the elements from the icon for Firefox?
"Lower your shields and power down your weapons. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated."
-----------------------
Worry about what to believe in.
Undermine Privacy.
Become impotent in your extremity.
Market Identity.
Sell nostalgia.
Stop wasting my time with this crap.

---------------
I am not responsible for your actions.

My Giger counter is off the scale

Well my hard disk has just died. Potentially that's 300 gb of data just gone. Everything, mine and my wifes digital shit just fucked up and gone.

If there are any nerds, geeks or techs out there with any ideas I coud do with some input.

Details:
I have two 200gb sata drives making one 400gb strip drive. It looks like the computer can't see it any more. Checkdisk has been finding disk errors for a few weeks but not been able to correct them. Unspecified error.

I bought an external USB hard disk to back up all my data (which I havn't got round to) and I'm currently trying to install an OS on it. That isn't working out yet.

Next, I'm going to try a winxp boot disk to see if I can get that to talk to my sata drives and my external disk so I can copy my data over to it.

My comp is less than 1 year old, high spec 64bit system.

----------
And now my external HD won't boot windows....crap.

Any input gratefully recieved. Thanks.
In 1999 there were only 13 instances of the word rizole on google. Most of those enteries referred to some kind of Portuguese food (if anyone can tell me what that is I'd appreciate it).

17 days ago Google brought back 305 instances of the word rizole, a large majority referred to me.
Updated:April 9th:Updated

I was accepted in to another club today:
More new stuff below the old stuff at the top here.

I'm 4 pageviews away from having 6000. Here's the final reconing:

As you can see, I only had 75 yesterday. That's still more than I've had on any other day before but I'm sitting here, stupidly waiting for the next 4 so I can go to bed.
All I can think to do in the mean time is write yet more self obsessed stuff about me that most of you with lives will have better things to do than waste time reading......I just checked....2 more pageviews to go....are you on the edge of your seat?
-------------------
I'm getting through all my messages slowly. Here are some interesting galleries I've found along the way:
Darrellburnet had only been at dA a couple of days - check him out, he has some well crafted and interesting deviations.
~huesosnegros has been at dA for a lot longer. His work is raw but faultlessly observed. Often political. I think he has been overlooked.
Mysterian......gotta love those smoking monkeys.
Another new artist to dA. Already has a DD. Works in oils and has a great command of his material and is mesmerising.
-------------------
says she wants to use Woman as vagina on her website vampirerave.com [link] and I've given her permission. I have no problem with people using my stuff (I wouldn't put it on dA if I was worried about it being ripped.) A link back to this page is the payment I ask. It is my work so give me the credit for it.
If you use my stuff and make money from it without giving me a cut, I will do everything I can to take you down.
(If anyone out there enjoys science fiction, Iain M Banks writes some marvelous stuff. The names he give his ships are clever, inventive, ironic and funny. Delicious. [link])

Good work there to all the winners. It is unclear at this point what they have won but they are clearly the winners and well done to them.

I'm only posting this here because I havn't got a blog

Large amounts of council staff went on strike today because of the proposal to put up the pension age from 60 to 65 in response to the national pensions crisis. The library was closed with a skeleton crew everywhere except on the top floor. The top floor regularly has between three and eight staff at anyone time only one of which is an actual librarian. The rest consist of two Learndirect staff and the staff of the Learning Shop.

With no custom and no library staff (who are actually generally, quiet introverts inline with their stereotype) the five of us were loud, in high spirits and behaving like infants.

"Ask me something, anything, go on, I know everything I do. Punch me there, hard as you like. Go on, ask me anything.......no not that...ask me something else."

Some one tracked down a radio/cd player. We could only get one station on the radio and it was crap. Some one went to the music library and got a handful of CDs. The CD player didn't work. We threw balls of paper at each other. Steve tracked down some speakers and we dug out a laptop and hooked it all up. In went the 'Best 80's Album Ever' and out came Peter Gabrial, U2, Wham, Bonnie Tyler (I bet you can guess which one - that's right - 'Total eclipse of taste'. There went the harmonica solo by Stevie Wonder. Wham sung "Girl all I want right now is you....do do do." We all knew the words and if time had added a bit of a drag factor to our collective semantic memorys, we could all hit the high notes in the right place and with precision timing. I gave a faultless rendition of the last minute to 'Sledgehammer': "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, only you.....I bin feeling the rhythm..." 1986 that was out. Lindsay, the youngest there and the only lesbian in the library at that point was 8 when that was out.

I was never interested in old music. If it wasn't contempory I really couldn't give a fuck. Elvis, The Beatles, The Who, fuck off! Here, listen to some disco.

As I've gotten older this attitude has largely stayed with me and although I will listen to and have become open to a wider range of stuff and stuff that has been around since long before I was born, I'm only really intersted in stuff I havn't heard before, new to me stuff. What suprises me though, is that none of it is lost, the brain stores eveything that has been listened to with some focus and can reproduce it with clarity. Especially when it's pumping out at high volume in a very large, second story library room that houses shelves of books and over 40 public access PCs with 5 generation xers, 3 of which are nearing middle age. I'll be able to sing 'Kayley' by Marrillion when I'm 70 and by then I will have become the thing that I most hated when I was a teenager. An old person banging on about music thats been dead for centrys.

I was being inspected later by the Adult Learning Inspectorate (sounds like a cough mixture) for the quality of the training provision I give and so I was collecting my tutor pack and learner packs together and making a last minute check before I went off, had a dump and biked to the venue for the class I was giving, when it happened.

Just three notes opened it, played on a synth (probably a roland, who knows?). A simple three note melody, rising with chords overlayed. In come the synth drums and there goes the three note motif of the chorus and the song blossoms into life: "Sometimes, you're better off dead, there's a gun in your hand, it's pointed at your head. You think you're mad, too unstable........" And I'm off like a gazelle leaping accross the 80's savanah, gliding and trilling... "...call the police there's a madman around, run him down, underground, in a dive bar, in a west end town....." I sing it word for word, note for note. I'm almost not there, my body can do it with out me, the song imprinted on my biological systems with almost no input from a concious self, no need. Lindsay claps. She is clearly impressed by my recall and makes primate noises to egg me on.

No wonder everyone thought I was gay when I was younger

I am not responsible for your actions.

I used to live in Brighton in the early 90's which is where a lot of the pen and ink drawings come from in my gallery.

At that time I lived in the same house with Karen. She was doing a degree in Psychology and is now doing something to do with computers and living in New Zealand. She used to do these interesting and complex doodles and I was always facinated by the elaborate complexity of the stuff she did and the control and precision she did it with.

Turns out she still does them, useually in meetings at work. I said in passing once that I'd post some on my dA site and a couple of months later she has sent me these which, touchingly, she did just for me.

This work is more complex, mature and has a richer depth to the detail and ideas than the stuff I remember. The scans don't do justice to the quality of the final peice.

In the letter she sent with them she said;
"Thinking about how much I doodle recently, I start to wonder if perhaps my job doesn't give me enough of a creative outlet - like the doodles are my creative side sneaking out all the time."

Someone should get her to design a tatoo for them. Here are the doodles:
Thanks to everyone who took part. Interestingly I recieved 68 pageviews for my competition. The most pageviews I ever got for a deviation submission is 36 which just goes to show that the quality of the work I submit is less important than the social aspects of posting in general.
Rosinger will be the focus of my next journal. ....Competition......Competition......Competition......Competition

The person who can claim to be my 1000 pageview will get an honerable mention in my next piece, can post my next piece in their gallery if they so choose and will have my next journal entry devoted to them and their work.

I will accept a screenshot as proof. Given that I log into my own account from different locations and that DA registers this as a page view, I will also accept the most plausable fake of the 1000th page view.

If someone can be bothered to produce clever fake evidence or just make a really good argument that turns out to be more impressive, inventive or funny than real evidence then I may award them the prize.

If no one claims the 1000th page view, I will know that no one ever actually reads these things.(I've only ever had two comments ever on my journals)

Additionally....if no one claims the 1000th page view then I will accept the thirtysecond comment to this journal as the winner. If there is a claimant of the 100oth then the 32nd commentator can specify what prize they would like and I will do what I can to fulfill that request.

Finally.......If no one claims anything as a response to this post then please do not read it.

Thanks and good luck.

EULA:

1. Prizes may be given and withdrawn without prior notice, consideration or logic.

2.Prizes will be awarded as rizole sees fit and may be given to the person deemed least worthy for reasons that don't seem to make any kind of sense.

3. NO correspondence will be entered into with cliamants.....but it might be.
4. Rizole will make the rules up as it goes along....if you have a problem with this then I suggest you just don't try entering.
I've paid my fucking subscription, why do I have to click on this every time I want to make a deviation? I thought paying ment that you didn't have to look at adverts.
"It's a small thing, get over it" you say.

My goal in these pictures is to understand something about biological form and anatomy and how light falling on a form gives it weight and mass. Thematically my work is about self/body/other and how the body is the mediating substrate through which self and other dynamically know, form, inform, and deform eachother.
This link will popup a window so your mileage might vary depending on your browser. I use firefox with noscript which I have to disable to make this work. It uses a java virtual machine or something.
There is so much here, so much talent, so much crud, so much meat and so much poison. You have to spend a lot of time here to understand the tides of this place, to notice the broad strokes and the intimate details.

I'm finding it difficult to get an overall, coherent gestalt. Deviant art is not resolving it's self for me. Is it too corporate or has it just got so big that it can not contain itself anymore? Critical mass was achieved and it could only ever be different now to what it was then.

It's fractional that's for sure but like communities of size everywhere the minority change things and the majority post work.

Hello everybody.

I'm new here and am getting quite a lot of traffic I just didn't expect so I've spent a couple of nights getting to know the place and the way it works.

As I seem to have an audiance I'm keen to make the place look nice and upload my best bits. I've never had an audiance for this stuff before so I'm a little nervous and excited to display it.

Thanks for all your comments, you've all been marvelous. Please don't think me rude if I don't reply often. I'm just like snowed under and I am easyly distracted.
