Slowly but surely, I'm trying to get a crafting blog put together. But, this isn't just ANY crafts blog: there's a very high focus in modern-themed projects. You know, things that are cute to wear and look really slick. Polished. Focused in keeping materials simple.

I need some people to contribute so I can build more content before I start promoting it, so please please check out the link and e-mail me if you love to make awesome stuff and if you're super cheap. (also if you have some good designs/patterns for people to try out!)

So, I was hoping I could get a couple of you guys to fill in the following quiz and reply to this journal with it. I'll even do one as an example to show you!

Mind you, I'm not trying to straight up pitch Lush products at you. I promise, I'm trying to get some good practice going.

Super Wacky Crazy Deal of the Month - $5 Sketches

Woohoo! You guys are gonna think I've gone nuts, and guess what, I have! For the past few days I've been doing nothing but scouring the internets for deals on roller skates and skate accessories. After much deliberation, I decided I'm going to do this right: just go on ahead and get a rookie package so everything is all inclusive.

[link] is the package, and since I don't have a rink near me, I'm going to add $40 to get the outdoor wheels as well so I can rock it in the park.

The total price comes out to about $230, so I'm going to try and get HALF of that through sketch commissions. My goal is $115 in sketch monies by the end of the month, so now's the time for me to make pretty doe eyes at you all... ;o

Pay attention, because this is different than my normal commissioning methods!! Here are the step by step instructions:
Copy the form below, then add a comment to this journal and paste it there
Fill out the form and hit submit.
Each sketch will be 1/4 of a piece of letter paper done with mechanical pencil for greater sketch detail. Some pages will be shared with other characters. Some pics may receive light coloring.
If you want more than one sketch for ONE character, indicate it in the field.
If you want more than one character sketched, fill out an additional form in your reply.
I will not do two characters in one pic. Sorry.
I ask that all sketches be paid in advance. It helps me keep track much better!

Up until 4 am last night trying to put the finishing touches on that ref sheet for Melissa. I don't do many ref sheets because I am so totally not good at consistency in hose matters, but I think I gave it a good honest try.

Oh what's that you say? This journal is an excuse to get some CSS up in the hizzy? Ok cool. I caved and got a 3 month sub, but that will likely run up sooner than I notice, haha.

I came downstairs to see Brian passed out on the couch with UFC on. Hmmmmmm. Maybe I should do stuff to him while he's sleeping~~ :3

Prints

Okokok. Sorry to blow up your inboxes. Just consider it payback for me not having updated at all for months at a time!

I'm thinking really hard about trying to market some prints, and I would have just made a poll about this except my stupid subscription ran up, but now I have to use the awkward method of asking for input on my journal, haha.

Some topics I am thinking about:
Convert previous pieces into prints, though I would need advice as to which ones
Create a series of prints that all coincide
Create one superawesomeamazingthing and bank on it
Take print requests, as in you would potentially buy the print if I created it
Just give up on it cause I mean come on my stuff looks better on a screen

Any and all input would be appreciated. Just trying to figure out where to start, what to focus on, and what to just forget about completely.

Rollergirl Frustrations

So, if you guys follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you'll notice I'm going on about roller derby. Friday, I went out to see Zombieland with Leon and Brian, and after the movie we ran across a group of roller girls who went to promote their team along with the release of Whip It! Of course, I was actually in the bathroom at the time of the encounter and came out to see the boys being all hung on by ladies.

Turns out one of the girls knew Leon from childhood, so they had a bonding session awwe cute. Then she turns to me, sees how tall I am, and she's like OMG YOU GOTTA JOIN. This sends my heart all a flutter and I get all kinds of excited because zomg I'm wanted and zomg I can skate let's do thisssss!!!

I spend the evening looking at rollerskates online to buy, and of course me being a dumbass, I got all excited before I realized what was involved.

Not only is their practice rink more than an hour away from my house, but I can't skate backwards, or on one leg, or stop without the stopper, or jump... you're starting to see the jist. I was like, okay. This isn't horrible. I'll try to find a closer rink, build up my skills, then go to the January tryouts. Yeah well, all that shit costs money that I would be making at the job I would have to quit in order to get rollerskating into my schedule.

Goddd I just feel stupid for having gotten excited.

So I got hired at Lush woooohoooo! I begin training next week, which should prove to be interesting. I did have a good time working there last Saturday, so I am definitely looking forward to it.

So first and foremost, I've been scrambling in my job hunt and finally have two prospective jobs. In fact, the manager at Swoozie's asked me if I would be interested in pursuing a graphic design position with the company at some point and I was all !!! yes!

Working through commissions. I'll hopefully upload some more later on today for you guys to check out.

Btw, does anyone follow UFC? I'm a huge fanatic, but I haven't had the courage to make any posts about it on dA cause I didn't want to bother you guys. But omg! There is so much to address!

Anyway, hallo! No more working at Lulu, which makes me sad because even though the company sometimes gets a bad rap, the people there are all good hearted. It's just getting too big too fast! But anyway onto other stuff.

Two months later.... WHAT'S UP DA? I got a lot of stuff to say, so lemme go on ahead and say it.

First of all, to commissioners, I'm SO sorry if you haven't gotten your work from me. Right as I was wrapping up with people, shit blew up and I lost track of everything. EVERYTHING. Well, not everything. I still have the image files, so if you have commissioned me here PLEASE TELL ME. I want to make things square again. Send me a note on dA and I'll reply with your finished work. To make up for my negligence (this won't TOTALLY comp it, but I hope it helps), I will give you your work free. That's right: if you let me know and tell me I have done bad, then you will get your art FREE.

Secondly, o hallo I am a dream owner. That's right, I've finally breached the final frontier on Furc (wow f's much?) and received The Big City from Chow and Minty to manage. It's been sucking up most of my time and attention, but I feel like the work I've done for it is really making a difference. It's amazing for me to be involved in a dream that has an average of more than 20 people in it at all times. Please come visit us in FurN, but also recognize the 18+ rule.

Oh yeah also my birthday was on Saturday. YAY HAPPY BDAY TO ME! <3 I didn't want to pull that crap like "oh lawl hey deviantart it's my birthday and I expect presents" because I got some pretty great ones already and I feel so blessed for what my loved ones bestowed upon me. x3

From Brian, I got a SUPER FLY faux leather hoodie. It's cool and comfy and I heart it so. He also got me WII FIT which I am in love with. I've been a good girl and working out everyday! I feel like it's really working for me!

From mi padres I got the title to the Avalon they've been letting me use. So, I has a car for myself! Granted it's a 2000 and it has a squeaky belt and the back speakers can't handle my mad bass beats, not to mention the trunk button doesn't work.... BUT STILL. I HAS A CAR!

From Leon and his wife, Wilder, I got two beautiful sets of dinner glasses and a Target giftcard for $15. Hells yeah!

And from Ari and Rachel and Brian's mommy I got a lovely birthday cake. The perfect thing!!!

That's pretty much it. I didn't get a ton, but they were all lovely and thoughtful gifts and I <3 them all.

So I hope everyone's doing well and having a good time this early spring. I'm currently forming a .pdf with everyone's commission info on it so Brian can print it out and I can have hard copies. YEAH YEAH YEAH!

As far as I can tell, the only person I owe anything to properly (meaning they have paid already) is Secretary. The port is complete, I just haven't been able to catch you and I'm sorry!

But I don't know if the place has internet, or even electricity. So please, PLEASE be kind in the next few days because I promise you, I want to make my money as much as you want your work. I have held off asking for money until the work is complete, so 99% of you are in no danger. But, I do know you want your art. x3

It's-a Happenin'!

Much to my distress, I found out that I'm kinda in the hole. Now, I like to think of myself as an upstanding citizen who pays their taxes and clears their credit cards every month, but to my SHOCK I am in debt quite a bit.

Insert sob story about needing money here. Commissions blah blah.

This week I have some time to do some serious work! I'm almost done with ~veata's piece (FINALLY! It's coming out sooooo good too) and I've been plowing through ports like no one's business.

Now, I'm not gonna pressure myself or anyone with the tag like OH EM GEE I HAVE UNTIL THE END OF THE MONTH TO RECTIFY ALL THAT HAS BEEN WRONGED IN MY LIFE. Because that's dumb.

And it's like, everyone has expenses. I get that. Here's a list of my own that I have to worry about! (ALSO LET ME JUST SHARE EVERY WHINEY THING I HAVE GOING ON lawl)
My $1500 credit card bill that will have $900 paid off soon but the other portion I need to get to town on
My failing tablet that has decided cords are overrated and stupid. (approx $200 for a bluetooth)
The need for a new sofa because the one we have now was $35 from craigslist... and you an tell. (approx $500)
Oh yeah! We're moving into a new, beautiful townhouse! And I have to pay rent on that shit! (approx $500 to start with)

Blah blah more drama more llama.

So what I'm trying to say is, I got a lot on my plate... But I would LOVE to steal some money from you guys and make up for it by drawing you lovely arts! The Impending Doom

...OF MOVING! Check out the little townhouse we're looking into (and crossing fingers that we get!)

A nice little 3 bed, 2.5 bath. 1000 a month. Not bad, right? And it's in Chapel Hill, so we'll be very close to UNC. I'm so excited to be moving in with Brian. Trust me, guys, this is the real deal.

As for everything else, I'm doing some work for Marco again (yay!) and a bunch of other various projects. So much to do! And yet, my drive has been so bonkers lately cause I STILL haven't gotten the insulin start for my pump. I need to go to a class, and I missed my other one. But anyway, hopefully all this will be resolved soon. Just takes time, you know?

Okay here we go.

Since so many people dipped out on the project, I did not receive enough entries to make the calendar. I feel really awful because there were some AMAZING pieces done and I want those people to receive the recognition they deserve.

However I have thought of an alternative. (Me being the genius that I am)

If ANYONE has ANY pieces they would like to donate, I am going to compile an art book and sell it on Lulu. It will only take a little money to manufacture, by my gauges about $6 per book.

I ask that they be fully rendered pictures, though. This means that you don't have to be the best artist out there, but effort on your part has to be presented. I will not accept stick figures done in MS Paint. It's not fair, and I really want this book to look good in order to show just how fucking amazing the pieces I've already received are.

I can't offer a free book to anyone who donates, but I will be putting in the artists' names and sites in the book so you know who to check out. The people who have already submitted to me will receive free books if they choose to give me their shipping addresses.

So, here are some things I would like with the picture:
-Preferably high resolution since this will be in print. But, I can fashion a low quality piece too to work.
-Something you have ALREADY done. Meaning, just go through your gallery and find something you would like to see in print.
-Backgrounds would be lovely if it's a character picture. But, as an art piece overall, it is not necessary.
-PHOTOS ARE ACCEPTED. Just make sure to give me a high res with those because low res photos in print look yucky.
-This is an art book, basically, so put out your best!

Thank you ahead of time to anyone who feels the gusto to put towards this. I will be charging $15 per book, because I want as much of the profit as possible to go to [link] . No I will NOT be pocketing any of the money. I am hoping to have the final price be $15 for the book because as more pages are added, the more the price goes up. If a bunch of people enter, then the manufacturing cost will have to be compensated.

Please please please. I really want this to be spectacular, and anything anyone can do to help would mean the world to me.

The End of a Lifetime.

Although I really wasn't going to do this, I really had to share. My mother recommended I get it all out now because otherwise I'm just going to be bottling it up.

So the beginning of this whole thing has to do with me and my sister. When I was younger, she was constantly tweaking out on drugs, and I didn't know it until earlier this year. Would have made it easier to understand why she would beat me and lock me in closets. She was physically abusive, and when she left the house, I was glad.

Years passed. For almost 5 years I basically didn't have a sister because she would never call, never care about what I was doing. Then, in my senior year of high school, she calls me up and tells me she's pregnant. Two months later, she's asking me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. I got so excited: it was like I was getting a family member back from the dead. I was sure things would be different.

After I dropped out of school the first time, I moved to Georgia for the sole purpose of taking care of her baby while she was at school. I dedicated two years of my life, all of my friends, and my happiness to her. I sacrificed everything so she could carry on and make something out of herself. Once my mom moved out and I had the house to myself, yeah things did get messy. I'm 20 fucking years old with no proper training in house maintenance. Fucking sue me if I don't feel like taking out the trash or doing my laundry.

She bought me a pipe for pot. She used to supply me with pot. She fed me. I never asked her for any for myself. She would just give it to me or invite me over to smoke. That was how I was. Later on, I got friends who I could go to for a smoke, but it was not an every-day, let's live the stoner lifestyle.

Finally, this semester, she took some time off to be with her daughter. I got a break. I was so happy. So, the house slips out from under my control. It gets awful. It finally got to the point where I had lost all hope for dealing with it, so I told all my family that I would meet them if we were going out. Or, if someone was picking me up, I'd go outside to wait for them. I didn't want anyone in my house because it was an absolute mess.

Last week, my sister calls me up at 9:30 in the morning (after I'd been asleep for two hours due to new medication) and says she's dropping off Suzanne at my place while she goes to the gym. In my state of half awake, I said "sure yeah bring her." The baby comes over, Virginia goes to the gym, and I basically pass out again with cartoons on the television. Was it the right thing to do? No. Absolutely not. I know that. However, I was at the end of my rope and the meds had been fucking with my sleeping patterns all week. Sue me.

Virginia comes back and says that she's going to tidy up my house. Yet, before I can even get up to help, she starts yelling at me. "My god! Your house is a fucking mess!" I know. "How can you live in this shit hole! Ugh this is so gross. What the fuck is wrong with you?" You know. The basic shit. So I say: "Let's not worry about this. Let's go to lunch." No. Apparently not. She has to sit there and scream at me some more. Then she says I'm not even helping her. Well, sorry. I don't feel like helping when you're fucking up my ass. I say again: "Just don't worry about this." So she grabs the baby and leaves.

I send her an e-mail the next day apologizing for my house and my behavior. I didn't expect the baby to be coming over. That sort of stuff. I meant it, too. So she e-mails me back:

"Kicking me out was a huge mistake. You have no more claim to that house than I do. At my insistance, Mom and Dad are now going to be checking your house periodically. Trey has not been comfortable with my leaving Suzanne in your care for quite some time and I am now finally awake to the fact that you don't watch her at all. She would be better off...

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know I have a certain chicka trying to sell some stuff to earn some moneys. All of it's furc stuff, so if you're not interested, don't waste my time by reading this! Just kidding, you can still read it and appreciate it for the font.

THE CONTEST
If you are familiar with the AllFurRadio site, you will know that it isn't exactly the snazziest thing on the net. So, we're looking to you, the listeners, to help us out!

Following the sizes given on the template below, we are looking for layouts. This doesn't mean you have the code the whole thing, but we do want something that looks nice.

You can choose whatever colors you like, but there are some rules!

REQUIREMENTS
-You MUST include any links that have been posted in the template, such as the navigation buttons, the polling area, etc.
-You MUST include one of the given logos.
-You may not alter the logo in any way, other than possible resizing/cropping/color changing. The logo is set, and if we can't recognize it, then we will not post your site for judging.
-You must include an area for the player and text fields, but they do not necessarily need to be filled in by you. The person coding will fill in what they need to.

Other than that, you have free reign! You are allowed to switch up where things are placed, so long as you include the proper pixel measurements. The template below was made my tracing what the AFR Site had already. Feel free to make your own backgrounds, use your favorite colors, whatever!

Ohmigawsh. It's true. We have some stuff in the works, so keep your pretty panties on. We're marketing towards EVERYONE, which means males, females, felines, rabbits, humans, whateverrrrr. They are going to primarily be premades, but we will also be doing some alterations if the character calls for it.

Also, I know that people have watched the 50000 accounts I've opened with people for collabs, but this is going to work, I promise! I see Adeana pretty much every weekend, so if one of us starts slacking off, you know one of us will raise hell.

So, since I'm giving you guys the 411, I think I should also let you know about how you can get one of these babies TOTALLY FREE!!!! It involves taking a survey, but not like: "Zomg 500 adverts and steal you IP and personal information" kinds of surveys. It's through AFR, and the more people who take the survey, the better the chance for AFR to get real funding will be. (Aren't you all sick of the website?!)

Job, Commissions, and Vacation

I think that title is specific enough.

First of all, I GOT THE JOB AT THE LIMITED!!! Now I don't have to worry about applying to crazy places or anything stupid like that. And for $8 an hour, I'm not complaining. I am VERY VERY excited!

Secondly, commissions! Thank you everyone who's been showing interest and contributing to my experiment. Everyone's been so helpful, and all the comments are definite candidates for change. I still have commission requests coming in, which I will oblige since I need the money verr bad right now, but I will have them stored and added to the list once I can get to them. So if you still want a sketch, let me know! it's not too late. I'll get more to the sketch commissions in a second though. (it has to do with mah vacation)

Also, *Eisplanet04 and I are going to start doing collabs. No, we are not opening slots right now or anything, but I was wondering if people think we should get a new dA or just have us upload the ports on our own deviantArts? For those who watch both of us, your boxes might get kinda full. But I am so excited!! What we're probably going to start out with will be some premades. They will be auctioned off individually, so it'll be kind of hard to get one. Save those pretty pennies now!

NOW FOR THE VACATION! I'm going out of town for a bit to go to Raleigh, NC, then to northern VA. Then back to Raleigh. Maybe Lynchburg. I don't know. But, in this time (which will be about a month) I will NOT have a scanner. And so, unless you want your picture drawn on paper and having my crappy cell phone take a picture, I'm going to be finishing the sketch commissions that I get on the computer with my tablet. In my own personal opinion, I don't like the tablet pictures as much, but it's all I can offer for that time period. I'll still do my best to produce something snazzy and magical.

I'm about to post a poll with some domain names cause Brian and I are having a hard time coming up with something. But I thought I should include some screenshots of what I have so far so you guys can see!

This is the main page. It include admin log in and a place for commissioners to see your list of open slots

The Request A Commission page. Commissioners fill out the form for you to see things easier!

The bottom of the RAC page. I'll show how cool the reference image part is in a sec.

The admin page. It shows pending commissions here, so even if you get a lot and you want to keep a record, they will be stored here. You can view, accept, deny, or delete a pending commission

Top half of a submitted form. I just threw something in there to show you guys.

The bottom half of a submitted form. See how the reference images are thumbnails? This way, you can click them and see the full picture! I just threw in some art I had of some of my characters. (Thank you, Loish and Nik!!!!)

This is the screen that you get once you approve a commission. You can check to indicate whether or not they have paid (no more running around!) and you can also indicate your progress. It will show up on the main page, and it's easy to edit. (No more obnoxious empty, half, and full stars on deviantArt, lol. Though, they did serve their purpose)

The main page again, but this time with an accepted commission. It shows empty slots, your progress, everything! Most of this stuff will be fully customizable, and we're also in the process of fine tuning.

Did I mention these commissions get forwarded to your e-mail? This way, you get a notification everytime someone submits a commission request. On top of that, you get the information, and if you want to delete the e-mail, the information is still stored on the site!

Some other things we're working on are having a php script that will create a .jpg or .png (I'm not sure yet) image that you can show on your dA that will automatically update with your progress, current commissions, and so forth. It will be all automated, all organized, and so perfect!

If you guys see anything that you would personally like if you were hosted by our website (like more features, etc) please leave a comment. It's still in its very early stages, so any input would be great.

Well, it's happened once more. I've touched a computer and it's totally exploded. Funny enough, this sort of stuff doesn't ever happen to MY things, always to friend's.

So, the computer I was using to do commissions and the likes totally pooped out and Brian and I are in the process of trying to fix it. It should be fixed soon, but in the meantime I'm checking e-mails and comments and stuff using his Wii and his laptop.

I promise, I have stuff done! And I want to send it to people but I can't. When this thing blows over, though, I'll be in business.

I also wanted to thank everyone for their lovely comments concerning my last journal entry. Brent's viewing was yesterday, and I wish I could have gone, but it was in a different state. I've heard from many of his friends through a note I posted on Facebook (the version I posted on dA was abridged from what I really wanted to write) and that was helpful as well.

Thank you again so much, and I promise I'll be back in full in no time.

Loss of a Friend.

Last night, I received a phone call informing me that one of my close friends from college, Brent Terres, suffered from a major heart attack. They were not able to revive him.

I want to say something about it, but I know that for the most part, it will fall upon deaf ears. No one who reads this will understand what a truly beautiful person he was, so I'll just show you.

One day, I was sitting in Brent's room, procrastinating about doing math homework, when I asked him what would encompass his Ideal Woman. He started naming things, like redhead, dancer, smart, funny... So I pretended to write them all down and showed him this instead. He hated it, but I loved that memory of him, being so open and sincere.

Here's Brent wrestling with his suitemates. They were always up to something. Once, Brent programmed a buzzer that would go off at random intervals, and he left it in their room. It drove them insane, but it just went to show how smart he really was.

Brent teaching my friend, Becky, to play WiiSports. He always wanted to include everyone when it came to game time. It was amazing.

The boys discovering the mysterious 360 Shower Cleaner. They looked so cute here, I couldn't resist capturing their childish nature in its pure form.

Brent giving someone a sassy look during Dungeons and Dragons. Our characters were siblings, which I am very happy about. I always thought of him as a brother. He kept me safe. He looked out for me. He included me in his activities. I will always be grateful for that.

I love Brent very much. Twenty-two is not a time to lose someone. He was born on Christmas, and although this may be wishful thinking, I keep hoping he'll resurrect and join us, just as he was before.

He will always be in my heart.

Other Notes:
I am currently in North Carolina with Brian. We're having a great time and I couldn't be happier. Will this mean I won't have time to work on commissions? NO! He works during the day, so I'm slowly chopping away at those while he's out of the house and I have nothing else better to do.

Also, I got a GORGEOUS Dooney & Bourke bag from Miss Alicia ( @limetastic ). This girl spoils me. Not only does she get me a fucking sexy purse, but she also was featuring my Coach submission in her journal for a long ass time. She's the best. I'll get Brian to take a pic of me with it, which I'm sure won't be hard because I carry it fucking EVERYWHERE. Seriously. It's hot pink. How sexy is that?

ANNNNNND I FINALLY got my in-state tuition figured out. I haven't mentioned it much, but the past two weeks have been hell. I've been sleeping like shit because I've been so worked up over getting into school. I know it's just a community college, and the lady said my test scores were good enough to get me into GA Tech no problem, but the in-state status was killing me. Can you believe it took me 8 tries just to get someone to help me out with it?! And since my parents were out of town, I had to do all this shit myself. RIDICULOUS. You cannot believe all the fucking paperwork I had to go through, and it wasn't even just a set of forms or anything. I had to get my pretend lease agreement for the house my parents own, then my birth certificate, my GA taxes, my Federal taxes.... THE LIST GOES ON.

BUT I GOT IT YAY!!!!! Okay now I have to go pick up Brian from work. (Did I mention that I fixed his car as a sexy surprise for him!? WELL I DID NOW!)

Last night I went into diabetic shock in the shower. Fortunately, my boyfriend was there to help. I just want to say how amazing he was for helping me, because although in retrospect it was very scary and horrifying, at the time I was so out of it that I thought I was fine.

I keep coming in and out of spells where I think I'm fine. Well, the truth is I haven't been doing well lately. It's hard. I quit being diabetic. Everyone I love is constantly worried about me, and then when something like this happens where I go into diabetic coma, it only worries them more.

On the list of diseases to get, I would suggest people put diabetes below herpes. Just a thought.

And if you are an artist, it's a great way to not only challenge yourself, but also a fantastic way to show that you are open for commissions and a good person to have working for someone.

Tracing Versus Referencing

Disclaimer: if you are offended by this entry because you feel like it is a personal attack, please do not take it as such. There are many people on deviantArt and in the world who trace, and this is meant to be not only a tool for commissioners who are seeking art, but also for current tracers who need help with progression.

All right, I'm not perfect. Back in high school, I used to trace. I even traced a port that I gave to a friend, and for that I'll feel forever guilty. I even take magazine pictures and trace them sometimes, but those are only ever private and I usually end up scrapping them anyway.

First things first, tracing =/= referencing. When you reference, you take elements of the picture that you need help with (such as hair or hand placement) and eyeball it for your own piece. Tracing is, literally, putting lines over work that has already been done. I have made a few pictures to demonstrate that point:

Here is an example of an artist's block that I usually create in my mind when I see a picture. You'll see the circles and lines where the joints and limbs are. Pretty standard if you ask me, though there are some lines that are missing if you were to do a full one from scratch.

Here is the same block, just with no background image. It's easier to see the lines this way.

This is an image I produced through tracing. You'll see on the picture some notes I added that are red flags for people who are commissioning. If you are commissioning art, look out for small heads, large arms, and large torsos. These are usually signs that the artist is a tracer. That's not to say EVERYONE who draws small heads traces, but the difference in detail is usually enough to warrant a caution. (Such as whether or not the art looks proportional for the style the artist is trying to achieve, like comic book style girl with fat arms.)

This is another image that I drew freehand, with the reference picture in another window so I could look at it. You'll notice some of the chunkiness is eliminated, and not everything is picture perfect (like the hands, my GOD why do I suck at them?!) It looks more stylized and less like I traced the picture (because I didn't!)

Here is the finished referenced sketch, along with notes about some things that I picked up from the original image. I cleaned it up a little and removed a few of my artists' block lines.

When you're trying to reference a picture without flat-out manipulating the original, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Keep the original picture in a different window so you aren't tempted.
Find the little things about the picture you like, and try to emulate them on your own.
Remember to retain your own individual style.
LEARN from the piece, don't just try to profit from it.

If you are a commissioner and don't want traced art, here are some red flags:
Small heads
Large arms and torsos
Unbalanced amounts of detail
"Flat" or "unfeeling" sense to the...

PokePort Commissions Open!

In accordance with the new craze completely raping any chances of getting cute Poke names in Furc, I am going to open up 10 Port Slots. But, there's a catch to that. Those slots will be reserved for people who want to use the ports on a Pokemon alt. So, I'm only doing the ports for POKEMON.

However, I will include something funtastic. The set price is $20 for a port, but for $5 more, I will crop and animate any Pokemon port I do for use in dA. For $10 more, I will completely customize a fully animated Pokemon icon for dA use. You don't have to get the icon, but I thought it'd be really cute.

What it's all about:
For as many years as we've known each other, we haven't really thought much of combining our talents or showcasing things together. Well, now that we are so close in real life, we thought to ourselves: "What better way to celebrate than holding a contest for our characters?!"

The Contest:
We leave it to you great artists out there to draw some amazing stuff of our twinnie characters, Droplet and Gigi!
Portraits

Solo or couples pictures
Neither of the girls have set outfits or accessories, so we want to see what you come up with to make them great. That's right, design an outfit for one, or a set for both!

The Characters:
Gigi - short, curly blonde hair, green eyes, white markings, prissy attitude. Ref Image.
Droplet - long, curly blonde hair, green eyes, gray stripes, white patches, gray wings, sweet and innocent attitude. Ref Image.

The Prizes:
Third place will receive 5 GD, $5 paypal, or a digo market equivalent.
Second place will receive a portrait by Mythi. $20 value.
Grand prize will receive a portrait by not only Mythi, but Adeana too! Not only that, but we'll feature your work in our journals for a month. $50 value!
