Working a full-time job tends to get in the way of completing the artwork at times. I also (so far) don't get paid for any of it. It's a hobby for me. In the computer lab, I used educational software on the Apple IIe and eventually the Mac. I loved using the mac so much, I convinced my family to purchase a Mac for use in the home. We got a Performa 550. Pretty clunky performance with a 33 MEGAHERTZ 68k processor and a VERY pokey 2400 baud modem. In modern standards, it wouldn't even hold a candle to even the 1st gen iPhone, but it was a very influential product for me. At an unofficial account of 31,000 attendees, this convention is soon going to need to be ran in a professional manor or people will begin to consider other options in the region. I know the Otakon staff doesn't want to do it, but for a size of a convention like Otakon, you need to have some sort of premium pass. Boo-Who to all the whiners to say "It's unfair!". So is life. I love Twist, the Filly that appeared (so far) in one episode, "Call of the Cutie". It is a shame that there isn't a lot of artwork. My humanized Twist is my most popular deviation and I know there are more out there that made artwork or willing to do so. Oh yeah, it's cool to be a beta tester, but unless you like to customize your page to your hearts content, it doesn't really help you be a better artist. The critique feature, at least for me is useless. I click the feature on when I submit art and no one says anything Considering that I'm a little-known artist currently, maybe I'm whining a bit. If I say I should do something and stick to it from the start of the year, I'm setting myself up for a big disappointment.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ About a month into  drawing on a regular basis, I have regularly put out completed digital artwork at least once a week. Much of my focus is currently on my original characters. Eventually, I want to start drawing other characters, things and hopefully fan art. My fundamentals are not at the point of perfection and will need to work on proportion, color theory and anatomy. Princess and Margaret are NOT the sole focus and shouldn't be. As Kanye West says on twitter, "IT'S A PROCESS".<br /><br />Which brings me to the point of motivation. What compels me to draw my characters? I'm sort of disenchanted with entertainment today. In the ginormous exhibitor room, many booths hawked their various wares and were a bit too welcoming once you got closer. I'm talking about the small-time guys there, not the major booths. The little guys love it when they even show you a second of interest...and it gets annoying when they do whatever it takes to get you to pay attention to what their hawking. Anyways, one of those booths were the Wacom booth, a booth that would be of very interest to me. I got a chance to take a look at the Clintiq tablet/monitors. In the world of DeviantArt, much of the userbase are around college-high school age and in most cases may have more time to hone their craft. As for me, I hold a full-time job which doesn't give me all the time to work on this. In the past few weeks, I have spent much of my free time drawing. The Mac Mini I bought last year is getting used for my digital art along with Sketchbook Pro. Downloading every tutorial on proportions, figure drawing and lineart I can find on the internet. Looking at my art so far, I think I'm doing well, but I can be better.<br /><br />MUCH BETTER.<br /><br />All the tutorials and all the books and all the gadgets in the world won't make me better. The last time I picked up a pencil to draw was in High School. Today, I have graduated from college and never really did the art thing, but I have always admired and appreciated it. In the coming weeks or months (depending on my schedule), I will gather the materials and books on how to learn drawing. What will come of this?
