I am dealing with tiny, tiny explosions, both of creativity, fitness, competency (to my ultimate surprise) and ambition. With no prior warning I found something that, if unchallenged, will become my primary motivation and an extreme source of fun. Also, hopefully, money.

No one actually reads this far, mind you, so if you skipped to the end to see how it turned out, I need some advice on a girl I like re: something for her birthday. I am considering offering to take her out towards a fancified dinner someplace, ...

this is not the sort of thing I usually do.

I had a thought today, and before it left I tried to write it down.

You can liken the users of computer operating systems to major world religions -- here, I'll give it a shot now.

Linux is like Protestantism -- there are so many distributions of it that are all somehow incompatible with each other and yet supposedly the same...
Macintosh is like Radical Islam -- it's used mainly by artists and graphic designers. Er, wait -- I mean that it's surrounded by a fanatical crowd of rabid people in love with it that sort of take your attention away from the fact that it doesn't work.
Windows is like Catholicism -- it has pretty severe flaws, but it admits to them, and it's compatible with everything else. (except those dirty Mac people.)
and DOS / text-based command lines are atheists. They don't believe in GUI.

peace out, fellow maniacs.

(oh, and feel free to comment or something. I dunno. I'm new here. I was just told there was free pie.)
