Well except for the cold nights that I have been spoiled on missing out on in north Queensland, life is just dandy! Not been doing much in the way of taking any photos recently but have gone through and edited a whole heap and will update the website very soon.
Not sure how many of you know but I am also a nudist and this gives me a great opportunity to go to one of Queensland's most famous nude beach, Alexandria Bay in the Noosa National Park. I want to get some sunrise photos from this area as well so look out for them.
Well that is my update for the moment soo take care one and all. Until next time....

Well, as a new page in the life of Dean turns over a new story begins.
As of the 22nd of May I will be living on the Sunshine Coast (for those not in Aus, google Noosa Heads). I have just got a transfer with work to a place where I am going to feel at home. Townsville did not really do it for me although I did not really give it a chance but I always knew it in my heart.
I post another journal once I have settled down there and get my butt into gear and post some more photos.

Wish me luck all...

Hi! I am Dean (or otherwise known as rovingpixel) from Dean Armstrong Photography. I live in Far North Queensland (FNQ) in Australia. I have a personal love of Landscapes, in particular rainforest and waterfalls and also have a growing interest for artistic nudes, either in a 'studio' or in a natural location.

I currently work in retail to support my growing expensive hobby but try to, on my two days off, take as many photos as I can that my artistic inspiration allows and work on them of a weeknight.

Some of my 'heroes' are Steve Parish (in the early days), Peter Lik (his images and presentation concepts only), Ian Wallace (Tasmanian Landscape Photographer) and a growing number of artists within the DA community.

I have recently found myself in the single lane which now leaves my photography open to all types of experimentation without question or justification (that we all do but rarely notice it). I have found myself posting images on a "public" website that I would not have previously and my yearning to experiment with more portraiture and 'off the cuff' style nudes. Although, not a pleasant time of my life, I have found a freedom that I previously felt I did not have...expect some conceptual images up here for everyone's comment.

I am also a nudist, not that I like to label myself, but it helps me explain my love for rainforest and landscape shots. My nudity not only helps me feel apart of nature but the risk of being caught heightens my awareness of what and who is around me which helps me to concentrate more on my surroundings. Recently I have been practising rainforest nudes on myself due to a lack of models or my courage to ask someone.

As you all can tell, I like to keep as much professionalism with my images as possible. Which is why this year, I am going to start my own stall at a tourist market near where I live.

If you are located in or around Cairns and would like to catch up and talk shop, please drop me a message or an email and I'll be happy to shoot the breeze...it's always good to talk to someone with similar interests, compare notes and maybe find a way to improve the work that is produced.

***********************************************************************
I am also after someone that wants to model for me both clothed and nude. As I am your typical "poor" photographer I can't offer much more that a copy of the images once they are done. Until I get to a personal high standard, there won't be anything done with these images, so rest assured, I won't be making a money from them. I just need to learn and practise my portraiture, emotive and artistic nude styles.

***********************************************************************

I don't know if it is just me or not but in my discoveries through the artistic nude pages it seems that some people have not realised what the word artistic means. Don't get me wrong, there are some fantastic & brilliant shot in there but it annoys me that a guy can take a crotch shot of hard dick and call it art! And even more, he'll post seven different angles of it...does he think he'll pick up here? I found an artistic crotch shot and it is saved in my favourites, so it just takes a bit of imagination to post something that represents art and not perversion, exhibitionism or plain lack of creativity.
In addition to this, I have found a similar but not as bad lack of creativity in some of the female nudes that look more like 'hey I've just taken a photo of my girlfriend when she's not looking' and not had a thought process for the final image.

So what is a nudist photographer? One that takes photo undressed and one with nature.
I usually find myself wandering through the rainforest taking photos of waterfalls, landscapes & all sorts of nature related creations. But I do the in the way we were born!
On the odd occasion I feel like taking some more artistic shots of myself and would love to work with someone else to try and capture a great rainforest nude.

If you are ever up this way (Cairns) let me know and we can catch up. Would love to meet other photographers and well as people to photograph.
