This past Friday I received the official letter that I had been accepted into the Adams State College Graduate art program where I plan to get my MA in Painting and Photography. It has been over 2 years since I have been in the darkroom and over a year since I have stretched a canvas. In that time I have pondered the direction in which I should take my art and how I should present it. My goal as an artist is to be everything that Anne Geddes is not. There is a time in all our lives when we are faced with the abortions, eviscerations and malignancies of existence. How we deal with this is both a matter of personal preferance and social makeup. My art, in it's present form, deals directly with the with the negative aspects of my life experience and their purgation. Coming to terms with the adverse aspects of life, as opposed to covering them up with babies and flowers, has allowed me to grow exponentially as a human being and embrace all the good things that exist in my life. My art exists as a means to allow those who view it to confront all that is negative in their lives. All that we can ever know is a result of our own personal ordeals with the world, my art is my contribution to those ordeals. Take them or leave them, I will change for no one.
