2) During this scene, Hamlet Senior’s brother is talking with some people about their preparations for war. The country is preparing for war, because the children of the deceased King of Norway wants revenge against Denmark for killing their King in a fight to the death. Both the king of Denmark and the King of Norway were killed in this fight.

it's just like been getting worse I think.... I hate this....
Anyways I went to school for two days I went yerstady but I was feeling especially shitty
on that day. My second to last class was drama and my teacher is
pretty cool and he like lets us listen to our i-pods n' stuff
me and my friends were working on a group project and I had
just finished choreographing a dance for the project so I was like slumped on the side of the
stage all like :icon=de-mote: and everyone's like WTF is wrong with you Alicia
because usually I'm busy running around the room pretending I'm an airplane
or something like that. Then the stage got to hot so I went back into
the classroom to cool off. But then the classroom got to hot
so I went back to the theatre
Honestly, it was pretty pathetic, I was running inbetween rooms with
a cold water bottle presseed to my face whimpering like an idiot
it sucked. After a while I got tired of doing that so I just
layed down on the floor and coughed up my internal organs for a while
after about fifteen minutes of this my teachers all like STFU PLEASE!!!!!
so that's what I looked like and my teachers like
then he stormed off and left me there coughing
then he came back and I like feel asleep or something, because the next thing I knew
my teacher had shoved two lollipops in my mouth so that I would like finally shut up
then I started rolling around on the floor becuz I felt gross. So after that I went home and I stayed home all day today. My mom woke me up at 1:00 today! I slept a lot
my parents think that the reason I am sick is becuz since i got to sleep at like 12:00 every night
they think that my immune system is all FAIL and stuff.... psh..... whatevs I just don't like being sick. if this journal doesn't make sense it's cuz when I get sick my brain doesnt work very good.
ALSO!!! I was on youtube the other day and if you guys no me well enough you should know that I am the clumzy human version of Alice right?

Modern Day Slavery and Prejudice is Alive Today

".....We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal, and they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights." (Declaration of Independence, 1776) Most people like to think that these are the core beliefs of the USA. People who believe this are sadly mistaken. How can this be the core of this nation when is racism, slavery and hate crimes are still happening today? Persecution of race is not the only thing that is still at large. Persecution of sexual orientation and people of different religions are still being ridiculed for their beliefs. From a high school that had three separate proms,to a girl who was sold into slavery at the age of 14, to a man who was chained to the back of a car and dragged ten miles before he died. Racism, slavery and hate crimes are still existent in not only our local community but in our world also.
Prom is usually something that everyone enjoys during their high school experience. It's an event that everyone is invited too. This is not so at Toombs County High School in Lyons Georgia. In 2004 Toombs High School hosted three separate proms. One prom for the white kids at the school. One prom for the African Americans at the school and one for the hispanic students at the school. The most shocking part of this story is the fact that the students wanted this to happen. At first it started out as just a white and black prom, but as more people heard what was going on, a Hispanic/ Latino prom committee was formed. Some of the kids at the school were happy with the situation. while others obviously weren't. Jennifer Hart was outraged when she found out that her and her hispanic date weren't allowed to go to the prom together, "It made me feel mad. That's not right. It made me want to put a fist in her face."
When first looking at a picture of Mende Nazer she looks like a typical African American woman. Most people would never even know that she had been a modern day household slave for seven years. Mende Nazer was born in Sudan's Nuba mountains in a mud hut that she shared with her parents (Adato, Norman 131). One night when she was fourteen a gang of men came into her town and started to burn the houses. They gathered together the children and slaughtered the adults. Nazer and her parents tried to run and hide in the hills but they became separated. Nazer was then captured and sent to work with a family around the clock. The people who "owned" her would call her "yebit" which means "girl worthy of no name. (Adato, Norman 132). During her sixth year working for the same family she met another slave that was taken from her village. The other slave informed her that her family was alive. She then began to work for her mistresses sister, who was the wife of a man named Abdul Al Kronoky, a Sudanese ambassador in London (Adato, Norman 132). One day Kronoky had a business colleague over. When he asked Nazer how much she was being payed, she said that she didn't get paid anything. The colleague then informed her that this was illegal. Nazer then decided that she had to get out. She got in contact with someone who would pick her up when the time was right. On September 11, 2000 Nazer went outside to take out the trash. At least that's what her owners thought. The man that she had spoken with before came to pick her up that night. She was finally free. Still, Nazer was afraid that someone would find her and hurt her for escaping, but her new friends assured her that the police would not allow it. Nazer is now 24 years old and has written a book about her experience.
One night a black man named James Byrd was walking home from his friends engagment party. Three white men; Shawn Allen Berry, John William King and Lawrence Russell spotted Byrd walking home and offered to to give the man a ride. King and his buddies then chained Byrd to the back of their truck and drove. They drove for ten miles until his elbows were peeled away and his head had rolled off of his body. After King's trial on certain "White's only" websites people were starting to say that the only thing that King was guilty of was animal cruelty (Bai, Smith 1). King was sentenced to the death penalty by lethal injection.
Many people think that our world has come so far in terms of racism, hate crimes and whatnot. But, when you look at the facts, our world really hasn't. My favorite was probably To Kill a Mockingbird. Cuz I though that the characters were cool. I also liked Animal Farm. Lord of the Flies was HORRIBLE!! OMG the horror!!!! These kids pushed this one dude off of a cliff and then they discribed his brains oozing out of hi head. And of course all fo my favorite characters that just barely mad the book tolerable just HAD to die. ugh. It was like reading the deathly hallows all over again. *sob* I miss them all so much *sob* anyways. I'm at the part in the book where the main character Holden, (lol Holden, holden what?!) is getting beaten up by a pimp and his hoe. lol. man lol. pimpin' ain't eazy man. OMG I JUST THOUGHT OF THIS instead of to kill a mocking bird how about: To Kill An Annoying Turd!!! lol that is soooooo much better. My other complaint about the Catcher and the Rhy is the fact that there vocabulary consists of:

In my opinion, prejudice is still present all over the world. Not only is prejudice still in this world, but so is segregation and slavery. From the cafeteria, to the white house segregation is all around us. Whenever I notice segregation it seems to be unintentional. For whatever reason, people are attracted to others that look like them. This is not true for everyone though. For example, I have friends of all different colors shapes and sizes and it never even occurs to us that our skin color may differ. Another issue in our world today is slavery. Most people think that slavery ended almost one hundred years ago with the civil war. While enslavement of African Americans has mostly stopped, slavery still exists in other forms and in different types of places. In America and other countries also, girls as young as twelve are sold in to prostitution where they are beaten and raped. According to [link] "In numbers there are more slaves in world today than were seized from Africa in 400 years of the trans-Atlantic slave trade." In conclusion I believe that prejudice, slavery and segregation is still evident in our world today.

Who’s Who in TKAM
Directions: In complete sentences, provide a detailed description of the physical and personality traits of
each character listed below and then discuss the role or purpose of the character in the novel.

Description and Role

1. Atticus Finch: Atticus Finch is one of the main characters in To Kill A Mocking Bird. He is the father of Jem and Scout Finch and the brother of Aunt Alexandra and Uncle Jack Finch Attic.
Atticus is a single parent and holds a full time job as a lawyer. He is a very respectable man who is very smart, very kind, and very forgiving. His children do not call him "dad" or "pop" they simply call him Atticus. His nickname as a boy was Ol' One Shot, because he is so deadly with a gun. Scout and Jem find this out when Atticus has to kill the rabid dog, Tim Johnson. In the novel Atticus is the lawyer of Tom Robinson who is being convicted of rape. Although he does not win the trial he wins the respect of every African American in Maycomb. Atticus is discribed as being somewhat large and tall. He also wears glasses that he is always pushing up his nose.




2. Scout (Jean Louise Finch): Scout is Atticus Finch's daughter. When the story starts, she enters the first grade. Scout is a tomboy and is strong enough physically and mentally to hold her own at school. Scout is somewhat headstrong and stubborn. She knows her mind and speaks her mind too, which gets her into trouble with several of the women in the story who see this as un-ladylike. Scout is the narrator of the story. She tells the story as an adult remembering her childhood. Her role is to tell the reader the nature of prejudice and other things in the South at the time TKAM takes place.





3. Jem Finch: Jem Finch is the brother of Scout Finch and the son of Attcus Finch. His full name is Jeremy Atticus Finch. At the beginnning of the novel he is 10 years old and by the end of it he is 13 years old. Jem loves football but when he tries out for the team he only got to be the water boy. Jem is smart, strong and imaginative. He is also protective of his sister, an example of this is when he did his best to save Scout when they were attacked by Bob Ewell. While Jem was fighting Bob Ewell he got his arm broken really bad at the elbow, leaving his arm permanately lopsided.






4. Cal (Calupurnia): Calpurnia is the Finch's cook and somewhat of a nanny to Jem and Scout. She is African American and attends the First Purchase African M.E Church. Calpurnia once took Jem and Scout to her church where they got a first hand look into the lives of African Americans lives during the 1930's. She has a grown son named Zeebo. Calpurnia has been working for the Finch's since before Jem and Scout where even born. Calpurnia, being able to read and write, helped Scout learn how to write. She is described as being an angular woman who sometimes squints because she can't see very well. Calpurnia is a very protective and strong person, she also seems to be very stubborn which I think is a very good personality trait to have when you are helping to raise someone like Scout.





5. Aunt Alexandra: Aunt Alexandra is the sister of Atticus Finch and the aunt of Jem and Scout. She lives at Finch Landing but she moved to the Finch house so that she can teach Scout how to be a "lady." Aunt Alexandra is said to look like her brother Jack Finch according to the book. She is married to "Uncle Jimmy" and has one grown child named Henry. Henry is also married and has a child about Scout's age named Frances. When Aunt Alexandra comes to live with her brother Atticus she fits right in with the other ladies of Maycomb. She enjoys hosting small parties and teas and also likes to hold meetings with her fellow ladies. Aunt Alexandra gives Scout a look into the world of white Maycomb women.





6. Uncle Jack Finch: Uncle Jack Finch is the brother of Aunt Alexandra and Atticus Finch. He is described as looking like Aunt Alexandra but being almost a full head shorter than Atticus. He is a good, smart man, that doesn't know as much as he thinks he does about children. This becomes apparent when he whips Scout for beating up his nephew Frances without listening to Scouts story first.





7. Dill (Charles Baker Harris): Dill is a very funny boy. He has asked Scout to marry him several times and he has run away from home. He is the nephew of Miss Rachel and comes to see her during the summer months. That is how he got to meet Scout and Jem Finch. After the children met they became immediate friends.
