The challenge is great - to design an electric car, i mean really design not just style it.
When i say really design a car, this includes designing the underlying structure, suspension, electric power-train, cabin, all the way down to how the brake rotors attach to the rims. All of which takes a lot of reading and thinking - how will the power train couple, how the power-train will influence the rotational momentum, how to mount the suspension to have optimal geometry and how will affect the structure stiffness, how will someone get in comfortably, how can they close the door easily, the list goes on and on, full of engineering and ergonomic dilemmas. Then on top of all that, how to wrap all of this in a body that provides access to all the necessary components, follows the heritage of a brand, is aerodynamic and most importantly captures the human imagination.
Yes the challenge is great and it feels like im stuck on this one car and cant move on, but i cant leave it to the greedy bastards to keep on making archaic cars.
Fire has been a double edged sword for human kind; it brought us heat and light but on the darker side our dependants on this has brought a lot of evil, from war to global climate change.

I bought an MR2 mk2 a month or so back, which then overheated, blew the head-gasket and acquired an oil leak as i was driving it home from the seller...
Being a car lover and a skint young man, i have set out to fix it all myself on the side of the road - im half way there

Anyway I got a few projects in mind after completing my actual car and i have spent great deal of time working on my tablet/3D techniques (thank you British weather) - more and better car design coming soon, hang on to your seats

And the answer is yes i can make that in a day, and if i can do that - theres nothing i cant do

Feel so good right now, had to share - maybe someone else will be inspired by this success.

So far i owned a Clio mk1 champs, e30 325i touring and a e30 325i road rally car. Im in the process of swapping the rally car for a Clio mk1 Williams - i always wanted this car since i had the first clio. This will be a banging start to the year and im really looking forward to going for road trips in the summer

Alot of car design work you see is just ideas, these have to go through layers of engineers of all kind to actually make it work (you know some people to design the frame, someone to figure out the suspension, someone to design the lighting equipment, someone to do the panels and so on and so on)and by the time they are done the car is not quite what the original designer tried to do. My aim is to eliminate all that, do the design with the frame structure/suspension/drivetrain and such thought out from the start, by myself!

Most of the car was then modelled in Rhino 4, reimported to 3DS (thanks to sabaman for a tip) where i've added the poly tyres and then rendered using Vray 1.5
If i were to start the project again, now that I have some experience in NURBS it would have been much better and probably easier to do, but alas deadlines!

Anyone willing to participate just grab a copy of the blueprints and make it into a render. Any techniques are welcome: 3D, Photoshop, markers ... whatever you like!

There are no prizes, this is purely for your own practice and joy as im sure many people are eager to draw/model something but not always have the inspiration as to what.
All the participants will be listed here in my journal.

Anyone willing to step up to the challenge, shall we begin?
Please post back with your suggestions as to what kind of car to design (supercar? suv? saloon? whatever you like!)

Sorry to thoes that want to get a prints of Charm or Good morning sunshine. Having technical difficulties on deviant art, my hi-res pic is getting corrupted by the print system when it gets pulled form the ftp server I uploaded it to. Help desk people say tech's are looking into it. I have not been able to put up a print since 15th of October! So yeah, hopefully it will get sorted soon coz I really want a print of Charm on my wall, got a space all ready for it!
