On my list of things to do are more Transformers pics and more Mortal Kombat pics, first and foremost. It's clear that color pics get SOOOO much more love, but my true passion is in black and white art.

Let me just say that...I've already watched it twice. Liked it the first time, and liked it more the second time.

When I draw with Photoshop, I feel like I am handicapped cuz the brush control is crap. With Painter, if you find the right brushes, you are GOLD!
My favorite brushes for lineart:
Pencil - Thick and Thin Pencil
Calligraphy - Dry Ink
Eraser - Flat Eraser

For coloring, Photoshop is excellent, but now that I found a nice color brush for Painter, I am set. I strongly recommend Rob's Brushes (http://www.ethereality.info/ethereality_website/goodies/goodies.htm), and use "Rob's Basic").

So anyway, I'm reading a book called "The Story of My Life" by Farah Ahmedi.

What. A. Story. I've only read half but it is so gripping. It is an autobiography about a girl who grew up in Afghanistan. She is still barely 20 I think, but the story she has...wow. I have a quote from the book I want to share:

"Finally the morning came but the light seemed no different than darkness."

So moving, so powerful, and something that we have all experienced at least once before in this thing called life.

But first, why am I talking about Star Wars in the first place?? Well, SW The Old Republic is almost coming out, and its CG animated shorts are nothing short of technically amazing. That's a caveat actually. Technically amazing. But I'll elaborate later.

I watched the Dark of the Moon (oopsy above) trailer on Thursday like millions of others. I had a bag of tostitos and some salsa in front of me and I was excited.

After I watched it, I was pretty disappointed to say the least. I'm going to be constructively critical here so don't worry (...ok, worry).

Point 1: Lots of rehash from stuff we've already seen in the teaser and superbowl spots. Well, I guess he's going to wait a little longer before giving us the goods, which is fine. I'll just wait for the 3 minute trailer that shows the entire movie's plot (like all movies have).

No sound yet. Now I will go online to all the free audio/sfx sites and gather all the audio and then put it in, test it, etc. etc. Another good 2 to 4 weeks.

In all this animation has been 7-8 months in the making. Seriously, it's a good year if you make 12 minutes of animation in a year! Last year I completed about 10 minutes of animation. Not bad for a first year...

Thanks for sticking with me thru this. I know dA really isn't an animation place. I hope to do some Spidey or Transformers in 2010, but I don't think it's going to happen. I have animation projects lined up to the end of 2010.

So first, another thing we do everyday like walking and eating strawberries -- washing your hair! Just a little thing a barber once told me. When you pump the shampoo, be sure to lather it before you put it in your hair. Most people do the "lather/put into hair" in one step, but take the extra moment to lather first, then work into hair for full effect.

Wow, just wow. Great story, cg, acting, camera work, As all around.

3D adds a whole new feel and is great, though wholly unnecessary for enjoying this pic. If anything, see it in 3d for the gimmick of it, but also see it in 2d for the full range of color (you lose some color clarity when you use the 3d glasses).

Don't get me wrong, the 3D overall was really well done. Not overly done like some of the 3d trailers I saw. I realized that there is such a thing as "bad 3D" where it gets blurry or where your eyes can't really follow what's going on. Avatar's 3D was subtle but very convincing. The first is Broken Music by Sting, a memoir. It is really great and has so many moments. It is similar in some ways to Angela's Ashes. If you liked that one you'll definitely love this one. The way he talks about love and relationships is very moving.

The second is Howl's Moving Castle, many of us know it as the Hayao Miyazaki animated movie, but I've always been a sucker for originals, and that was originally a little unknown novel by Diana Wynne Jones. Great book, almost nothing like the movie, yet still incredibly enjoyable.
