Also, I haven't been all that active and arting lately, cause I've been looking for a place to move out to (kinda getting kicked out). A friend's family's place recently freed up a room, so I'll most likely move in there, though I don't have enough to pay my first month of rent with, so I'll try to get a job down there before I move in (which I was planning to do this week, but the flu was a bit of a setback D: ).

Anyway, I think that's it for current events, sorry I don't have anything more interesting to share X3 I was thinking I'll share a new movie or something, but I haven't seen any since "9" X3

But camping isn't what I had in mind for my Bday, plus I can't really afford to spare like 3 days right now, considering I have only a few weeks to get my portfolio done. So do I want to go on this camping trip? Or just like chill at home alone on my bday? I still can't make up my mind.
My friend want me to go down to Vancouver with them and get drunk, but I think getting drunk is retarded and a waste of money, so I don't think I'd go with that option, haha.

And hmmm hmmm, other updates? I haven't gone to the theater since Batman Dark Knight. But recently I went and watched the new Harry Potter with my sisters, and went and watched District 9 with my friends on the 14th.

I thought HP was a good watch. Some people complained they left out too much, and they DID leave out some stuff from the book, but all the same it was an enjoyable movie.

As for District 9, I was originally going to wait till it came out on video. But after seeing the second trailer, I was just too intrigued to pass it up after my friends said they were all going off to see it on opening (and Peter Jackson Producing it, only meant great things, haha). The movie starts out in documentary form, but has a slow transition into more of a film, which I thought was really well done. But yeah, I REALLY found that movie entertaining. It's pretty much just a sifi movie, but it's pretty unique. Even though it was a low budget movie (30 million) everything still looked really awesome, the aliens were really well rendered and animated, Weta Workshop ftw. I've seen the directors original short film this movie was based on, so it was really neat seeing his vision in a feature length, and considering this was his first ever full length film, 9 high fives to him! Haha, if you don't mind humans splattering, and other gruesome little things, then I'd recommend you at least gave it a rent! I doubt I'll have the chance to see it in theater again, so I can't wait till it comes out on video.

As for movies I'm anticipating, there is an animated film coming out called "9" this September. I REALLY can't wait to see that one. And again, that is also a film based on a short fil done by the director a few years ago. but I shall shut up because I've babbled quite enough in this journal, haha.

As for life, I'm just exhausted these days, but I'm sure everyone else is too. Please forgive me with late lag on commission and journal comments and such! I'm just usually too busy and braindead these days to properly keep up with DA.

As for workloads, I finished up with a huge deadline last friday, and i just finished up with a long ass overdue commission. I'm behind on one trade (that's you sparkle&sunshine ^^). Behind on coloring two Bday pics (yes, Otolemur and Zah XD). And I owe someone some "giftart" on my other account, but I'm just going to put that off for various reasons. And then the missOC contest I had to forfeit unfortunately, i just didn't have the time to finish my second entry for the deadline.
Other then that, less then a month to finish my portfolio, it's getting a bit scary and frustrating. Luckily no one else in the house for almost a week, so I can finally work in some peace and quiet, without any bloody interruptions.

So yuss... busy busy busy.

Well finally I ordered and got a new custom built computer^^ Quadcore 2.4GHz, 4Gigs of Ram, and a medium-ish graphics card, and a highDef capture card that isn't available for public retail :3 Lolz, I know there are plenty much more impressive computers out there, but I did have a limited budget, and I am very satisfied and impressed with this one.
Unfortunately I had to use up my school savings , but meh, I have been rejected 3 years in a row from the school I want to go to, so i guess it's time to move on. I'll probably have more luck getting a job at a studio, then getting into the schools I want ot go to.

So anyway, really impressive computer, extremely satisfied with it. And FINALLY I was able to install my Adobe cs4 student licence (which I also purchased with my school savings). Haven't had a chance to play with all of them, but I just <3 them so far! It's going to be such a relief compositing and editting my animation & film projects with the cs4 bundle! So yes, now I can finally work on my portfolio without any hardware flaws and issues
I'm keeping this computer msn and internet free, to avoid lame viral setbacks. So I'm keeping my old one for browsing and msn, haha.

Well not only is the computers performance very awesome, but the guy I ordered it from also threw in one of those crazy gaming tower shells as a bonus (because I waited over a month for some of the parts to come in). But lolz, it's so crazy and over the top looking XD All my friends think it looks retarded and uggly, but I don't care what anyone says, I love it XD. Looks like a yellow transformer or something, haha. Never seen a yellow computer before, so it's all cool XD Anyway!

We went in the morning at opening time, less noisy people. But this time of the year there is even less people, so it's nice and empty :3 And all the animals seem to go right up to the cages more then usual, especially the lions And I got to see the lemurs getting fed^^ (their the only reason I like going to the zoo XD But wish they weren't on that small distant island :\ )

Well anyway, there's one of the zoo keepers that deals with the cheetah, and she usually drives by in the morning to give the cheetah a petting. (they were originally planning to set up public pettings with the cheetah eventually, but they have ditched the idea recently). But yeah, cause there weren't people around, she offered to let us pet the cheetah too Well it was petting him through the cage, but you can easily reach your hand through, and he leans right up to it and purrs when you pet him^^ He even started sniffy and liking my hand, he's so cute and friendly^^ His name is Duma, guess they named it from this really old cheetah movie (Walt Disney film I believe). But yeah, that was really neat^^ Wish I'd get to pet a lemur, but this was still cool XD

And they actually brought more lemur stuff to the giftshop! Well only ringtail lemur plushies, but better then nothing^^ I'm kinda broke right now, so I could only spare money for one plushy. But hopefully next time I go I'll have more on my debit card XD

Some of you must have heard me ranting before about not being able to install my new adobe cs4 software, because of computer issues.

Well anyway, I was going to put off getting a new computer for a little while, cause I'm, not too keen on borrowing even more money for a new computer (already owe a grand for the adobe software XD ). But anyway, started trying to install my usual software on my current computer. And I get error messages when I try to install pretty much ANYTHING. Managed to get photoshop cs2 running, but can't get any of my 3d modeling software and such installed. Which is like ARRRGG. I NEED that software to work on my portfolio and overdue commissions. I've been hunting on the internet all day for every possible fix for these error messages, but none of them fixed the problem. So yeah, it's probably hardware failure. Can't expect much else from a 7 year old computer :\

Well I really should like get a new computer as soon as possible, I'm behind on stuff as it is. But that would be borrowing another 2 grand, which is just depressing. Well on the bright side, I'll be getting more traditional art done while I don't have a functioning computer XD


Not to write about something less ranty XD How about some videogame babble! Though I doubt anyone that reads this will ever play this game, lolz XD (well it is one of those badass overly gory kind of games XD )
A long anticipated game came out yesterday, Gears of War 2. Haven't spent on games for over a year, but I couldn't miss out on this one (though I had to borrow 70 bucks from my mom XD ).
And wow... Like it's literally one of the most epic games like ever made. The first game was just badass and awesome, but this one is just like so amazingly rich and epic. Well it's minimum 8 hours to play through the game, I played through some of it yesterday, but haven't had a chance to touch it today. But there are just so many colossal and memorable levels in the game, I was just like awestruck after some of the scenes in the game. They actually got a actual script writer to work on the game, and a film music composer also (which has like never happened in a game before, mostly because of budget) Steve Jablonsky is his name :3 And it was extra awesome because I was a fan of him a couple years before the news was released about him working on the game. The music is just like wooooooooooow, it really sells the epic in the whole thing.

The script and story is decent all the way through (Well way better then in most games, since scripts in serious games are usually not so great XD), but sometimes it's just like wow... When they were working on the game, they said there will be some deep parts in the story that'll probably make some people cry, lolz. So yeah, I was like "ya ya, haven't heard that one before, rofl". But there was one important cinematic halfway through the game. And wow... I was taken by surprise. I have never gotten so close to actually getting all emotional and teary over a videogame. Like seriously, I was just sitting there dumbstruck for like 2 minutes after the cinematic ended. Lots of credit to the music composer again, the music score for that scene couldn't have been any better. Really glad they got that guy working on the game.

Well can't wait to find some time to finish the rest of the story mode. And it's also is one of the best console multiplayer games currently XD (other then ssbb of course, hehe^^) I'd love to play it, but not a whole lot of time for that these days. Games are way too expensive and time consuming!

(well I'm sure this games music is only impressive to me cause I'm a huge nut for orchestral film scores XD But here's a track someone uploaded on youtube if anyone is interested! The music builds up at first, but it gets AwesomeSauce around 2 minutes, and all the way through^^ )

Well I'm back I guess. I've been at a friend's to help him catch up on stuff. And I guess I never learn XD I came home for a couple of days in the previous weekend cause I couldn't bare it for two weeks straight. He's just a total jerk, and he's bloody boring. Everyday all he does is play videogames till 4am, and then sleep till 6pm sometimes (The reason why he's behind on his stuff). It's so lame. Plus my computer literally died last week, so I had no Internets, or I couldn't catch up on my numerous projects. I tried to draw as much as I could, but alas, I was having a super art block. Plus I don't like drawing when my friends are around, they're jerks whenever I draw anthros and lemurs (well that's pretty much all I draw these days XD). And of course he was hogging both his computer and videogames all the time, so I just had to sneak on his computer to check emails while he sleeps the day away. Though he always sleeps like right beside his computer. So he'd probably spaz if he woke up and caught me on there, heh (and I don't want any of my friends to know I have a DA account XD). Well anyway, I'm never staying over for more then one night straight XD Lets see if I remember next time, lolz.

This last week there were a few events though. There was a concert called "Videogames Live". An orchestra concert that plays game soundtracks and such. It was really neat, but it should have been way longer, considering it was 50 damn bucks :\ Well 50 Bucks I owe my friend now, lolz. After there was a Halloween party some other friends were having a skytrain ride away, but I kinda passed. Not a big fan of alcohol and drunk people. But then all my friends and I got together for a kind of a retro game lan. It was fun, but kinda short. And a stupid habit all my friends have started is going out and smoking cigars, rofl. It's so retarded. They claim that it's not unhealthy like cigarettes, but wtf, I'm not going to go and spend like 10-30$ to smoke something that smells like ass.

Anyway, after I wanted to go home, but there was a conference I wanted to go to a few days later (yesterday), and I didn't have the money to take the bus home, then back a few days after (then home again XD). The conference turned out Kinda cool. It was an Autodesk seminar (the company that makes all this 3d stuff I use :3). So they were showing off their newest software that'll be released soon, fun stuff. It was a free event (plus free food and drinks XD), so well worth on going. It was awkward though. I went alone, and pretty much everyone who went to it, were like ten year veterans in the industry, or like full time snobby rich students. So it was extremely hard for even a little chitchat during the breaks and such. I did manage to talk with some cool people though. This one guy I ended up talking to quite a bit, was this producer and director from Panama, haha. Well he's only done short films, and works on commercials and stuff, but I might keep in touch with him, and possibly get some work and hands on experience later on.

So now I'm back, and I have so much stuff to catch up on, I don't even know were to start :\ Plus I'll have to help my dad move some stuff out of a storage, which'll take up the rest of the day, blaaa. And yes, my computer is like dead. Even though I've formatted it three times, I keep getting the blue screen of dead (And I forgot to back up photoshop and a whole bunch of other software I really need :\ ). Seems to be holding out right now, but it won't last long. Well 7 years is quite a long lifespan for a computer, so RIP. Pisses me off though, just got a loan of 1000$ for some new software. and I won't be able to even try it until I get a new computer, aka another big stupid loan.

Good Times! Well I'm done ranting, and I'm at home with my somewhat functional computer, so time to be Happeh!!!!

Someone arranged a $60 commission with me and the money was sent to Tzyoku, but today I found out that the guy needed the money back... But since Tzyoku NEEDS that money for her trip, I convinced the guy to let her keep the money, and I'll find some more commission to pay him back...

CG Animated Commissions!

Most of you have probably seen this

Starting price, for a character and animation as such, is $30. If the character has more intricate features, or has a more complex animation loop, we'll discuss how much the final price would be. Now you should be aware that these take At Least a few weeks, one commission at a time.. quite time consuming work. I do have to do multiple orthographic sketches, make the model, rig a skeleton for it, animate it, and then take it into flash for multiple tweaks and such. And for an extra 2$ I'll re-render it and frame it out as a moving icon


So that's what I have to offer! I would prefer sketch and paint commissions over the CG animated one, since those take way too long to finish (I'm trying to finish an overdue one right now). But still PM me if you are interested! Well I really hope you guys will be willing to help out if you can, it would be super appreciated!

At one point I dreamed that for no reason, I just decided to go out and get pet lemur. But I ended up getting like 9 of them! XD There was 2 white ruffled lemurs, 2 red ruffled lemurs, 2 Crowned lemurs, and 3 Ringtails (I guess because they are more common? XD) And they were still like infant-ish, so they were super cute^^ Anyway, it was just them mainly going around causing mischief and making neighbors angry and stuff, rofl. Yet I was all super happy in the dream and carrying my lemurs around and stuff, haha^^ Never been this happy in a dream for like a decade!

Anyway, I woke up at one point. Then after I fell asleep I had a dumb "nightmare" of having to go on a dreaded roadtrip on my Bday, haha. Decided to do a funny illustration of that, I'll have to finish it though.

Birthday? :3 Well personally I want to stay a snot nosed 19 year old, 20 just seems to big a number :\. Well my Bday is on the 25th on Monday. I wish it would have been on Sunday, because no one is around on Mondays, so it'll be kind of boring. Well I'm sure I'll be over the flu by then, and lets hope I'll be all caught up with overdue stuff.

So as you see, it is a simple character model, and a simple toon look. 20$ is what I'd charge for something with that level of detail. So what it will include, is 320 by 240 animation with music (same size as Birthday Zahzu). And I will also throw in the same animation as a DA icon (well as many frames I can fit into the Max file size).

For the character model, I want to keep it simple like the Lemur in that animation. And I can also include some simple props into the animation too, like bracelets, or a scarf ect (I also consider hair a prop). I just got a spiffy idea for a prop, it would be a ddr pad XD
Blank backdrop is default, but for an extra charge I can create a static backdrop if requested

As for animation, something similar to the BDay Zahzu will be default. You can request a simple dance of your choice, but only if you direct me toward proper references, or explain it clearly, because I know absolutely nothing about dancing and dance styles XD.

As for music, that Mario Sunshine song is default, but I can take requests for other songs, as long as you provide it to me if I don't have it. But the animation and song length can't be longer then the BDay Zahzu one. Because render times are hard on my oldy computer, and the animation file size has to be kept small for uploading.

Well If you are interested and willing and able to pay 20$, send me a note. But mind you, I'm only taking 2 0r 3 for now, because I lack the free time, and these animations are extremely time consuming. One person has already ordered one, so MAX 2 more open spots for the moment. If you are interested, and you send me a note, but there are no spaces open; I will still set up a "waitlist" for those people, in case I do manage to find more time down the road for more commissions

Well current events...
Recently I found out the school I've been applying to for 3 years, rejected me yet again. I'm really ticked at that, since I've been waiting since highschool, to go to this film school. I think it's retarded, because they don't even look at portfolios at this school. It seems obvious they go for people who offer larger "donations" or some crap like that.
Well anyway, I'm sorta dumbfounded on what I'm going to do now. So I really gotto come up with another plan fast.
Drawing! Yes, I must draw way more. I'm waaaay too slow at drawing and stuff, I guess lots of practice will fix that. I need to work on my inking also, but I need stuff to ink first :b And I have these watercolor pencils I have yet to try, haha
Indiana Jones! I watched it recently. I know lots of people didn't like it for the somewhat over the top plot. But I went to the theatre thinking that Last Crusade will still be my favorite, so when I watched this one, it was REALLY ENTERTAINING. Yes I'll agree with the reasons people didn't like the movie, but I found it extremely enjoyable all the same. Well common, it's Indiana Jones! So yes, if I happen to have another chance to watch it theater, I might go see it again. As for other movies, I can't wait for Batman: Dark Knight, and Hellboy 2 ^^

And Rambo. I missed the chance to go see that one in theater, but I rented it recently. Yes it got many bad reviews, but everyone who saw it, and was a Rambo fan, really liked it; including myself. The first 3 Rambo movies were almost before my time, but it was somewhat of a family classic, haha. Plus I grew up in the town the filmed the first one. Well the bridge Sylvester Stallone crossed in the beginning of the movie, was the bridge I had to cross to get to school every morning. Ever since I was small, my siblings and I referred to it as the "Rambo Bridge" haha. So Yes, Rambo has always been special too me. And I thought this first one was a good way to end it. Well it was down to earth and gritty, the most Realistic out of all of them. And it is considered to be the most violent movie ever made, and yes, I kind of agree with that, haha. I thought it was great how Sylvester Stallone is old and he still played the role, same with Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones. It just gave it that authentic charm. Well I thought this was the best possible way to end Rambo, so screw what the critics have to say.

Well anyway Theres another journal I doubt many people will glance at, haha.

ARG DA! WHY? For the last few days, I dunno why, but I haven't been able to post comments on anyones journals, it's really dumb. I just hate when I type something lengthy out and just loose it. I wasn't sure if I was blocked or not after trying to post on someones journal, but I've tried it with three separate journals form three separate people I watch, and I got the same results. Well I doubt anyone will read this, but if someone does, I hope they know what this issues is all about :3

But the big issue was that I could only claim it if I fully pay for a Diploma program. But alas, I've been applying to multiple Diploma programs for a good 2- 3 years now, and I haven't been accepted into any. The Bursary was going to expire in a couple months, so I sent them my course certificates, receipts, and a letter saying what courses and education I have managed to take, and what I still to do. I didn't get a reply for almost two months now, but this morning I went to check the mail, and there was a nice cheque there for me from them Well I will be using it to pay off the remaining amount I owe my parents for my last course, but now I have less dept to worry about :3 I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW I have no one to share this with, so I just decided to write this journal in case someone decides to read it, hehe.

But since Intuos is waaaay beyond my budget, I really should save up for a scanner next, then you guys could see more of my art It's a shame I didn't get a scanner before, cause it would have been bloody useful for class. But I started looking at stand alone scanners recently, and they are an average of 100bucks. One thing I'd be scanning lots is line art, which pretty much any scanner could do. But were I get hesitant is that I'll be also wanting to scan lots of pencil sketches, watercolor paintings, and possibly more colored art. I've heard many times before on art sites "the stupid scanner messed up the colors" and stuff. That really worries me, cause if I manage to save up 100$ beside student loans, I really would like to get something that won't piss me off every time I do a scan. So yes, I know the basics of such equipment, but I'm no expert. Is there some sort of specs, concerning color scanning, I should be looking for when buying a scanner? Or is it one of those things were you pick one up, and hope that model will do accurate or close color scans?
Well I hope all of you have more experience with scanners then myself :3

Originally I was planning that when Brawl comes out I'll get a wii of my own. But alas I do not have the funds to spare for one. I'd want to just go over to my friend's house all the time to play, hehe, but I have to greyhound to his place, and I really loath greyhound D:< Well anyway, I still haven't decided which is "My" character. I used many characters, ever since the first SSB, but I guess the most I used is Starfox. I just like his speed, and I was a fan of his games when I was small (but mind you, I highly disliked the two new ones on gamecube). I didn't really like the new look he got (I assume from the most recent starfox game I will never bother playing) But I've gotten use to it already. They slowed down a lot of his moves, which makes me sadface, but it's decent enough. Just out of the new Brawl characters, I really LOVE to use Meta Knight, StarWolf, Lucario, Snake, Pit, and Ike. So yeah, I constantly alternate between new and old characters I've grown attached to, not being able to master one only character, haha. I can't help it, they are all cool in their own ways <3
And alas I didn't get my homework done for a class, the following day after Brawl, so I got lots to catch up on D:

And also I have an essay to revise for a school application. But at least when I'm procrastinating these days I'm being sort of productive. I bought this brush pen I use for ink, and it's sort of becoming a obsession to constantly be doodling random scrap paper :3 I have so many sheets lying around with lemurs and random stuff crammed to the brim of each page. Some of them I would want to upload on here for fun, but alas I don't have a scanner And I'd probably purchase a Wacom tablet before I purchase a scanner.

And speaking of Wacom tablets, I've been needing one for over a year now. I need to get my hands on an Intuos3 one, because I use software like Zbrush and other 3d applications, and the Intuos are the standard for those sorts of software. But of course Intuos just happens to be the most pricey out of all of them I was going to order one last week, but I discovered once I add up the taxes and such, I wouldn't have enough in my bank account, plain wonderful. I've filled out my tax return forms (a Canadian thing, I'm sure other countries have something similar) So hopefully I'll get the cheque in a couple months. I'm looking at the 6x8 size, I was originally wanting a much larger size, but the thing is that they all have the same pressure sensitivity. So buying a larger size would technically be just paying 200 extra dollars, just so you can flail your arms around even more, just to get the same results, which would be fun of course, but not worth an extra $200 :3

w00t, upcoming weekend! My 3 bestist friends wanted me to meet up with them this Sunday for the release of Super Smash Bros Brawl! Unfortunately I haven't invested in a Wii yet, I really want to though, once I have the funds to spare. I wasn't sure if I could make it or not, but it ends up there is an open house on Saturday, at the school I applied to this fall. I was at the open house two years ago (not that they have accepted me for two years in a row ). I just want to go so I can hand in my essay in person, ask a couple questions in mind, and to see if there are any changes in the course since the last time I checked it out. So yes! Open house adventure, and Brawling mercilessly with friends >: ) Then I'll head to class on Monday from there (and I just realized that'll be three nights sleeping on my friends kitchen floor, hopefully I can claim a blanket this time :3 )

And of course I have to mention something about lemurs! There is an animal sanctuary in near a city, which is close to mine. I REALLY want to volunteer there so I can feed and play with the lemurs But unfortunately I don't have a car, and the greyhound bus doesn't stop in that "city" I guess because it's not that big. I could mooch a ride from my dad, but I doubt I could mooch one once every two weeks, lawlz. I found out recently that one of my friends volunteers there once a month, and at one point he offered to give me a sort of tour there. But once he found out that I like animals too, and that I'm super obsessed with Lemurs, and that I know more about them than he does, he got all annoyed and stuff for some reason. He keeps showing obvious signs of jealousy, starts dumb little arguments over the most random things, gets all defensive about really irrelevant stuff, and keeps trying to belittle me in any means possible. Even when it was just us two on a 45 minute skytrain ride, a few times I attempted to start random conversations with him, while he was ignoring me, and then while I saying something, he shoves headphones in his ears and ignores me for the rest of the trip :\ He's been a complete jerk ever since. WHAT HAPPENED?!? It's not like I bore him with lemur facts and jump around like Zaboomafoo, reciting Zinni quotes from Dinosaur. Every time he brings up the animal sanctuary to other friends of mine, and I try to join in, he either ignores me, or snaps at me like a total jerk. It seriously confuses me. I dunno, I guess he self proclaimed to himself that animals were his "thing" and he doesn't want me in the spotlight or something???? Come on, because the bot... ]]> ~safaki
