Just wanted to pop in and get the Spy6Teen pimpage off the front page since the contest is over. We came in fourth out of the 1o entries on Zuda last month, so not to shabby.

Anyway, Sorry for my lack of news of any sort. I was out of town for two weeks this month, took my computer but I didn't do much. Just the work I had to and the rest of the time visited with family. My sister and I occasionally go and crash with my aunt and uncle in South Texas. I maintain that the state of Texas is far to large. I live in East Texas, so it takes us 8 to 9 hours to get to our family down south. Ugh! lol

On the way back from my trip my monitor was damaged, so I ordered a new one on Tuesday and it came in yesterday. It is awesome, I love it. 23 inches, woot! So an inch larger than my old monitor. Though it looks bigger than that, I think it might be a bit wider. I have grown very accustomed to my dual monitor set, so I had to get a replacement, I am very spoiled now. ^_^

Anyway, nothing else major to report.

-Lisa

Figured the new year was a good reason to work at getting my journal presentable. Man I miss the days when I actually understood CSS. Finally after much fiddling I have something up and working that looks ok, my journal matches my website now which is kinda cool ^_^ I used to design websites and still know HTML but that is not as valuable a skill as it once was, lol So much little fiddly stuff with CSS, oh well, it is fixed and I'm betting it is going to stay with this look for quite a while.

Also, just thought I would mention that I am getting more and more into digital inking these days it seems. I ink in a fairly unconventional/time consuming way so who knows if I'll stick to this method but for now it is quite fun to end the day working on some inking for fun. So feel free to color any of the things I've been posting lately. I'm going to color them all myself eventually.

Work wise right now I'm keeping up with my normal flatting load and have a couple small coloring projects I'm finishing up. Can't wait until I can show some of it off Anyway, guess that is it. It had been a while since I was in South Texas so it was fun. I got to try out my "work from anywhere" theory and it seemed to work out pretty well. I love my job!

Anyway, other than that I've just been working and have been getting in a little coloring practice. Also have been getting back into playing World of Warcraft a bit. Not much really I'm not willing to spend that much time at it, but it is fun.

Anyway, that is it I suppose. Oh, my subscription ran out and I don't feel the need to get it back so boring non-css journals from now on. lol

I'm having trouble putting it back down....
So while shopping the other day I saw the book Twilight on the shelf at wally world and decided to pick it up. I know that there is a movie version coming out in November that I am going to see so I wanted to see what the fuss was about with the book. Bad idea..... For the past two nights I've stayed up past 3 reading it... this is bad because I have far to much work to finish this month. lol

I had forgotton how much I enjoy reading, for at least the past 2 years I have been focusing on working more than anything else. I've also watched far to much television and had lost my desire to sit down for hours at a time and read. It is kind of nice to have discovered the love for it again. I'm the girl who used to stay up all night in high school reading, and then suffer through the next day yawning my fool head off, ha ha

So I am forcing myself to put away the glorious work of fiction and concentrate on working today. I have actually accomplished quite a lot on getting the graphic novel I'm working on colored by the end of the month. So I shall continue on, I suppose having the book here will be good motivation to get a lot accomplished today so that I can read some more tonight.

~*Lisa

Well, it seems that I am just not capable of updating this journal more than once a month, lol Oh well, I'm not that interesting anyhow,

Quite a few great things to report, since last month I have managed to land a couple of coloring gigs. The latest I'm really excited about but havn't actually started on it yet. It is a 66 page all ages graphic novel. The other shorter project I've started on and am almost finished, it is also for an all ages book. Hopefully I'll be able to show off a few pages here at some point.

In other exciting news, I was chosen as one of the winners at the huedoo.com - HiFi Comic Con Challenge - This was a 4 week challenge each week a new piece of art was posted for all of us aspiring colorists to have a go at coloring. I won week 3, (I'll be posting that pic later today). So they are having little cards printed up with each weeks winning piece of art and information on the hi fi for comics coloring book. The cards will then be handed out at SDCC. So very cool! I was super excited. Gosh, I just realized how young my writing makes me sound, lol very cool, and super excited, ha ha You'd never know I was almost 25. ha ha

So anyway, I'm still quite busy with my flatting work so to squeeze in all of this new coloring stuff I shall be losing some sleep over the month or so, lol It's all good though I'm very excited about it and feel extremely blessed.
Well, its been over a month since I last updated this journal so I figured it was about time. Since my last post I have been keeping busy with my flatting work, landed my first coloring job, and moved house. Wowsa, lol My sister and I moved a couple of weeks ago, I guess its going on 3 weeks now. I've got I believe 2 pages left to color on the book I was blessed enough to work on. I'll post more about that here once it is printed, and maybe post a couple of pages, I'll have to check and make sure that is ok.

This week hasn't benn extremely busy flatting wise so I have had some time to get in some coloring practice for myself. I'm quite happy with how the last couple of pieces turned out.

In the next couple weeks I hope to get some new things posted here and also I'm going to be working on getting a new look up for my website. I'm not sure how much I'm going to do with it, I'm even considering posting my flatting examples here in my gallery rather than having to set up a new gallery on the site. I just havn't decided yet. I've had a ton of flatting work come in so havn't had a great amount of time to practice my coloring, but I do have several things I really want to get colored this week. So stay tuned I'll hopefully be uploading a few new things soon. I'm going to try and get my sister to flat a few of the pages I'm planning on coloring, hopefully she will help out a little while I'm working on paying jobs. She does enjoy doing it occasionally, maybe I'll catch her in the right mood, he he

In some non comic related news my cat had kittens last Friday. A smallish litter only 4 so that is actually a very good thing. It was very much an unintentional pregnancy, lol We are planning to keep one I think and get rid of the other three when they are old enough.

Now some geeky fan girl musings.... I'm so happy Doctor Who has started again!! I'm stunned that we actually got a glimpse of Rose in the first episode. I know we Americans get the show later than those of you lucky people in the UK, so I wasn't sure she was actually going to appear this season. I bet she won't show up again until the very last few episodes but I was happy to see her anyway. The first season of the show I ever saw was the 2nd season so she was the first companion I ever saw with the Doctor. So I'm sure she will always be my favorite. Anywhoo, I'm very much looking forward to next Fridays episode. So quess I'll sign off for now and get a little more work done tonight.

Fella by ¢greatLP
CSS by `ClaireJones

So in my quest to dive into the world of comic coloring I have decided to open up a new deviantart account to showcase my coloring. I am currently reading up on and practicing coloring comics in all of my spare time. About a year ago I started working in the comics industry as a flatter. It has been a blast working for a bunch of different talented colorists. I feel so blessed to be staying busy doing something I truly enjoy. So now that I have the flatting thing down I decided to give coloring a go. I am planning to enroll in a few art classes at a local jr college in the next year or so and that along with studying various books and tutorials on coloring will hopefully allow me to become a fairly well rounded and capable colorist. So stay tuned for more of my practice pieces to be posted. I hope that one day you can look back at these pages and see a vast improvement in my coloring skills.

Also, for those interested you can check out my other deviantart account housing some of the inks and colors I'm doing for my webcomic Forever Fae.
