So I haven't been on recently but don't worry I'll be updating soon!
I had the most scary experience EVER well not scary but i felt like an idiot afterwards -.-"

Soo, me being the retard I am, i decided to have a drink before i went to bed and placed it on my desk...next to my computer T.T
Anyways I accidently knocked the glass over and it spilled! No big deal, right?

WRONG! I have a mac mini so my hard drive thingy was on my desk and it got water on it !!!!
it shut down then started making this REALLY annoying microwave fan noise and I had to unplug the power supply to make it shut off ! I was soo sure I broke it.
thanks to my wonderful and devoted father, who woke himself up at 11:30 at night just to tell me what to do and find a solution, i've managed to calm down
And so today I came home from school to replug in the power cord only to find out the fan noise stopped and my computers working fine !! Thank god I am sooo HAPPY!!!

In conclusion, I'm going to keep water AWAY from my desk now
...so that's it, just thought I'd share it with my devoted watchers

In society, people constantly struggle with the concept of understanding and accepting themselves. In Ursula K LeGuin’s Gifts, determination is a key factor for the characters to gain a deeper understanding of themselves. Characters that show this characteristic are Gry, Canoc and Orrec. Gry unique qualities combined with her unyielding determination define Gry as an individual.
As individuals show their determination and persevere through difficult situations, they are capable of learning about themselves because of these experiences. Gry undergoes a phase of self-discovery as she becomes more determined. While Orrec reminisces about Gry’s and his childhood: “She would not argue with me, would not defend her opinion, would not change it. I wanted words. She wanted silence” (LeGuin 55). Once Gry decides on her opinion, she refuses to compromise, this of which is a result of her determination, bordering on stubbornness. Gry remains true to her decisions and is not influenced by the attitudes and wishes of others; for example, despite the constant pressure Orrec places on Gry through his yearning for Gry to talk and explain herself, Gry does not give in to Orrec’s hopes. Instead, Gry lets her opinion be heard, and accepts the opinions of others in silence; she enjoys perceiving the thoughts of others rather than attempting to convince others to accept her beliefs. Gry refuses to contradict her personality and maintained her silence; she followed her ideas and dealt honestly with her feelings. Through this honesty, she was able to grasp a better understanding of her own heart and her true desires. After Orrec and Gry discuss the purpose of their gifts, Orrec reflects on Gry’s thoughts and views on the purpose and meaning behind their gifts: “Honoring trust, not betraying it. That was how she saw it so, Parn could not move her. Nothing could move her” (LeGuin 234). Gry rejects the perspectives of others, specifically Parns, and ignores their persuasion because of her strong determination. Gry’s refusal to change her opinion shows that she accepts herself. Gry expresses that she thinks highly of honouring trust, and despite Parn attempting to convert Gry to accept her own morals, Gry refuses to change. Not only does Gry honour the trust of others but she also honours her own morals. After the death of Canoc, Orrec’s father, Gry and Orrec feel they no longer have any reason to remain in the uplands: “ ‘If we couldn’t, we’d be among strangers, strange people.’ That is a great fear among the Uplanders: to be among strangers. But where is it not?” (LeGuin 273). Gry, as well as Orrec, decide to leave their homeland, the uplands, to travel throughout the lowlands and explore the world that had been unknown to them up to this point. To leave her homeland, and travel to an unfamiliar land that abides by different traditions, languages and lifestyles, Gry would feel very anxious and uneasy. However, Gry is able to overcome this fear of abandoning her home, the only place Gry had known ,and leave for a new place where she would be surrounded by strangers, because of her strong determination and desire to find the place where she truly belongs. As Gry travels, searching for her proper place, she is able to complete her self-discovery and accept herself as she is. This self-discovery and the characteristic of determination not only apply to Gry’s character, but to Canoc’s as well.
