It has been awhile since I updated my journal.
I have been back in California for about seven weeks now. When I first got home had many things to do but I finally in the last couple of weeks I have time to work with my Olympus E300. It is taken some time to learn how to correct the infrared images but now I am getting infrared image is that I am quite happy with. I have learned a lot about dealing with infrared and doing channel splits in Photoshop.
When I first came home all I had was dial up Internet and after using the Internet in Korea (which is 30 times faster than dial-up here) I just didn't want to do anything on the Internet so I finally spent the money and got satellite Internet which is nice and fast but still has some disadvantages over DSL.
Now that I'm kind of caught up on my work and have high-speed Internet I will try to spend more time here and submits or pictures.

I just got a filter and trying to learn about infrared photography with my Canon Rebel XT.
I have done infrared photography before with Kodak high speed infrared film and 35mm cameras and with Kodak 70mm aerial mapping film cut down to use in a 120 camera but never liked the way I had no feedback on the picture before I process them. Then I got an Olympus C-2000 camera which is very good for shooting infrared digitally but it is only a 2 Megapixel camera. This marked the start of my digital photography and my next digital camera was a Canon D30 which I was told Was no good for making digital infrared pictures (but it may not be as bad as I have been told) And then I got the Canon Rebel XT Then I started to read articles about having cameras modified to shoot infrared and that the Canon Rebel XT is better And then some of the other Canon digital cameras for infrared. So I decided to get a filter and give it a try. I’ve learned some things and like that kit lens (18 to 55 mm) has the Heights spot to when shooting wide angle.
The other problem is that it’s still winter here in Korea, and there is very few green leaves for a good infrared affect.

Last week I finally got a chance to hold and test fire in the store Canons new Canon Rebel XT camera. It is smaller and lighter than the old Rebel (so small that I would have to get the extinction grip to make comfortable to hold) and it is much faster when shooting pictures too. It has all the features I want to in a digital camera and compared to 20D it is a better deal for me so I know that I will buy one before I go traveling this year, but I will wait to for them to out work any bugs that they may have and for price to come down.
