For at least a month or so. But freedom all the same.

I took my last exam today, and rather than feel a surge of joy and exuberance, my temper shortened like nobody's business. Seriously. I was making this face a lot today as of 2:45: D:<

I just think I'm still feeling a little wound up, but I'm hoping that passes with sleep. I just hope I don't have another nightmare tonight... I didn't have so much a nightmare as a nightmare fragment. It terrified me enough that I don't think I let myself go back to sleep for two hours.

And then, after those two hours passed and I finally got to sleep, I was awakened an hour and a half later with a call from my doctor, telling me she was going to put in the paperwork for the driving test. You have no idea how happy I was to take that call.

Um... I've posted stuff over at the Progress Blog if you're interested. It was posted last night, so some things are a little dated. I'm hoping to have Under the Van Gogh updated this weekend with a few short stories. We'll see how many actually get put up this weekend, but hey! Updates are good! I've also started up a crafting blog to go with my Etsy store. I was inspired after a friend of mine started up her blog ...And a Pinch of Salt, which I recommend reading because a)it's interesting and b)it's interesting. What more do you need?

Speaking of crafting, I'm really interested in getting this sewing machine. I'd have to see it in the store, but I think it might be just what I've been seeking. AND! I'd actually be able to pay for it myself! That makes me feel good.

Is it too pretentious to make a fan page for WCFT on Facebook so soon? Or should I just do it and make one for UtVG on Facebook while I'm at it? I mean, if I'm gonna do it, I might as well really go for it, right?

So I figured that since *LastOnePicked and ~labrattish have each posted a blog, it's about time I post a new one, too. (What can I say? I secretly have a desperate need to fit in with the cool kids.) There isn't a lot going on, so this will really just be less of a blog and more of a list.

1. Dollhouse. OHMYGOD. Dollhouse. o_o;; Friday night's episode was just...just... I'm still cleaning stains out of the carpet from where my brain melted out of my ears and made a puddle. Sierra's backstory is tragic. Adelle DeWitt is the ultimate Chessmaster. Topher is totally heading into Saint Essex territory (but still with Ean-like wit), Boyd is awesome and...Victor. Dear, sweet, precious Victor.

Also? I love that Sally and I have been suggesting that Enver Gjokaj (the guy who plays Victor) would make a perfect Future or Saint Sorrows--and then the first five minutes feature Victor imprinted as a suave Italian. (I can't remember if he was a wealthy critic or just a critic. But he was a suave Italian.) Never mind that he was dressed pretty much the way Claudio would dress. It. Was just. Awesome. And now there are no new episodes until December!

Or maybe I'll do something even more special. We'll see. There's plenty of time left to plan...

First: It's amazing what a sandwich will do for energy. I was totally dragging ass today and then I inhaled a Subway sandwich. Now I'm dancing in my seat to "Prosessen" in the UC. Yay, food!

Second: I've been dragging ass up til the sandwich because I went to a midnight showing of 9 with Nancy and Jessica. (I am also sort of sore from climbing in and out of Jessica's super-awesome Scion, but that's okay because her Scion is super-awesome.) Seriously, if this movie doesn't at least get an Oscar nom, it'll be a major WTF. The movie itself is short (76 minutes) but it manages to tell a complete story in that time, which puts it above Gamer in my list of "Recent Movies I Love". Moreover, it told a good story well. At no point did the plot feel rushed and there wasn't any part that I can think of where I was thinking WTF because it wasn't clear. That's so hard for good movies to do these days...

The times when I did think WTF was pretty much every time a new "monster" machine was introduced, because...seriously, WTF is the only appropriate response when a mechanized worm thing with a head that looks like it was stolen from the main character of MediEvil (am I the only one who remembers that game?) shows up on scene. It was both my favorite of the baddies and the most Nightmare Fuel-y of the bunch.

Oh. And while I'm referencing tropes: "Nice job breaking it, hero!"

You'll understand what I mean once you see it. Because you must go see it. You must!

As far as the "heroes" go, 7 is probably my favorite. She's so badass! It's enough to overlook the Smurfette Syndrome. >.> I kept waiting for 1 to bite it, though... 6 is also a favorite. 3 & 4 would be so helpful come exam time. XD 8 is...amusing. There should've been more of 2! 5 was awesome because John C. Reilly pretty much makes any character he plays awesome by default (and he's probably the only reason I want to see Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant even though it's a film adaptation of a book series; if the movie is good, I may just pick up the books).

I think it goes without saying that 9 (the character) was pretty epic in his own right. Right? Okay. So go see this movie.

You'll be happy to know, House, that nobody stole my BLT panini today.

American Romanticism is okay. Sister Ann seemed to make it a point to inform us that it was actually American Romantic Transcendentalism instead, and while it seems interesting, I think I may change over to...I think it's Modern (or Contemporary) Literary Criticism, even though I'm wary of any class with "Literary Criticism" in the title after that Intro to Lit Crit class I took in the spring.

Tomorrow is Algebra (and I hope I have a teacher who doesn't make me feel like I'm stupid for asking a question, like last semester), Capstone (where I get to hang with Lily--yay!) and Irish Lit (where I get to hang with ~labrattish--double yay!). I'm going to pull on my skinny jeans and pretty up my face. It's that sort of day. I actually had lunch with ~labrattish and another friend today, which was really awesome. It was great to catch up with them and see how life was treating them.

Also? Apparently somebody doesn't like me/thinks I'm annoying and other people who know me have known about this for a while now. WTF.

So far as I know, I haven't given this person any reason to seriously feel this way about me. Honestly, I find the whole thing really silly. But as long as things remain civil then I won't go about starting any drama since this person is a friend of some friends.

Moving on.

Under the Van Gogh is updated, so go read "This Moment is Sponsored by Your Favorite Sweetener"! I'm debating whether or not to post it on DA (I already know the title won't fit) but it'll probably stay exclusive to the UtVG site.

And it went off without a hitch. I'm still amazed that nobody got angry, although I did threaten to punch my brother while holding a rolled up extension cord. (I wasn't really gonna hit him, but he has a tendency to be as snarky as Ean sometimes, which is both baffling and amusing to me.) So now I'm currently sitting here, waiting for my roommate to show up with the TV because my music is starting to all run together and I left most of the CDs that *LastOnePicked sent me (the ones I still have to go through, anyway) at home. I'm not too addicted to TV, but once in a while I like to have it on as background noise, y'know?

Tomorrow I register for classes that start on Tuesday. I'm praying for no 8:20 classes. I would've priority registered, but...money. Yeah. That's all I'll say.

And I just came back from briefly being outside and I think my neighbor is somebody I would rather not have as my neighbor. *headwall* As long as he doesn't try to invite himself over, I'll be fine. Anyway.

This month seems to be "focus on Present" month in terms of stories. Brigit's Flame is making it awfully easy with the prompts they're throwing out this month. This week's is "something old, something new". We'll see what happens. I also have two more stories I need to tweak and put up, and then we'll see how much I get done now that school has basically started.

So, I've learned that if I have the right amount of chocolate, I can get Ean to do just about anything. In fact, I can even make him write a blog entry. I'll try not to exploit this fact too much, but it's a curious thing, no?

Repo! The Genetic Opera

So if anyone wants to know how the Repo! event went last week, you can read the very lengthy blog on it here. There are also pictures of me and ~labrattish and a picture of each of us with Terrance Zdunich.

Also? I got kissed on the cheek by Terrance. I have yet to completely come down from this.

Dance Your Ass Off

Yes, I watch this show and I absolutely love it--even though I think Dancing with the Stars is really...blah. If you don't know what DYAO is about it's basically The Biggest Loser meets Dancing with the Stars minus the stars and the premise is a lot more charming. As a lover of dance (but not a participant) I'm able to enjoy it without wanting to change the channel (even when the remix cuts of the music fail sometimes, like this week's remix of "Suavemente"). This is a show that brings the family together Monday nights and a nice upper after watching Intervention (which also brings our family to gather around the TV; don't ask).

But WTF was up with the judges this week? If you follow me on Twitter, you're already aware of this, but I'll say it again: Barring a few exceptions, I seriously think the judges were on a mental vacation. Then again, since it was a double elimination episode, should I have been surprised?

Just don't get me started on Ruben. That guy only got those two 9s this week because he's a judge favorite.

Dollhouse

Specifically, "Epitaph One". Yes, I will admit that when I heard it was leaked, I did the bad thing of hitting up a torrent (though there is speculation on Dollverse that the leak was intentional)--and then I preordered season one on DVD, because it was at a discount preorder price. (Damn you, Amazon! You know how to get me!

) I watched it a few days ago, and only now did I recover enough to post a blog on my LJ about it. As it, too, is also a long-ish blog (though not as long as the Repo! recap), and as my musings contain some spoilers for the episode, I'll leave it up to you to decide whether or not you want to read up: [link]

Under the Van Gogh

At long last, I have FINALLY got the Concept Art and Fan Art sections up and running in the Extras section of Under the Van Gogh. Because let's face it; you know the real reason you're into the series is for *LastOnePicked's sweet, sweet art. Don't even try to deny it. You'll see some familiar pieces but also some sketches that haven't been posted to her DA, so go peek!

The fan art section is also up and open and actively taking submissions. We already have two pieces there from Miss Becca (*undefinedromance89) and I hope to see much more from you guys! Repo! The Genetic Opera stuff

I have finished my shirt for tomorrow's Repo! event. I'll have pictures later, but I'm happy with it. I was sort of worried because I thought maybe I'd cut too low but I'll be alright. It's just for a night and, yes, I will be wearing something underneath. If you're going to the event at the Alamo Drafthouse tomorrow night, come say high. I don't think I'll be very hard to miss.

Alas, though, my friend Ruth isn't going; couldn't get tickets in time. I blame it on Terrance Zdunich. His brilliant mind and hotness brings all the boys (and girls) to the ~~yard~~ movie theater. (Yes, I had to do it.) So it'll just be ~labrattish and I.

RENT

While we're on the subject of rock operas... I just looked over and saw this in my @reply section of Twitter, courtesy of ~KunoichiRaiu:

I can sort of see the Mark/Essex connection even though I've always seen Ean as more Markish (and not just because of the scarf). I've also struggled a lot with a particular internal debate over who is more like Roger--Present or Viticus? It seems like a really obvious answer, but once you start getting into looking at all the facts, it starts to get a lot harder. When it comes to couples, however, it's a bit easier. Ean is Joanne to Viticus's Maureen, Viticus is Collins to Jamie's Angel, Annabelle is April to Present's Roger (which I guess would make me Mimi without the heroin addiction, AIDS and job as an exotic dancer, but you know what I mean).

But still! This brings us back to who is more like Roger out of Viticus and Present. Let's break it down at the risk of...

So...I'm still recovering from the epic win that was last night's Serenity viewing, so I'll try to recount this as best I can.

To begin and to reiterate: Last night's event was super-awesome. I'm still sort of blown away by how the Browncoats are not just an organized fan group; they're an organized nonprofit charity organization. Nerds with a purpose FTW! They held a raffle for some neat stuff, including a Jayne hat, which I began to want as the night went on, because well... Hang on:

Jayne hat. Is that not the most cheerful thing you've ever seen?! I totally want one, but I didn't win the one raffled and they were selling them for $30. But ~labrattish might try to find a pattern online and make it for free, which is good because I'm increasingly inching closer to broke. >.> However! I did win some stuff; a Jane Espenson-autographed script of a Firefly episode that she wrote ("Shindig") and a numbered edition of some sweet sci-fi art. They also auctioned off some stuff and I totally had to jump at the Joss Whedon autographed limited edition copy of a Serenity comic. Because...y'know...it's for charity and Joss is basically a god in his own way.

A god who totally likes to use impalement a lot, but a god all the same.

As a semi-related-non-sequitor: I hope my friend's husband is on his way to feeling better. Poor guy was having some back trouble last night, and if anyone knows from experience how much that sucks, it would be me. >.<

Currently I'm waiting to see if ~labrattish are gonna hang for t-shirt surgery. If not I'll rack up my jewelry count for Saturday. Apparently Mom has signed us up to sell stuff in a church parking lot? It's like a yard sale or mini flea market or something. *shrug* Once I get the details I'll let you guys know where you can find me.

So...I finally went through and weeded out all of the books I no longer...I hate to say "want". Let's say that I have weeded out all of the books that have ended their time here and must move on to other readers/owners. Yeah. That works.

Houses

Well...one house. For now.

Alright guys, here's the deal: My mom is a real estate agent here in Texas. She's with Century 21, and part of her job is to do what they call "Open Houses", which is to say that they pick a day where prospective buyers can come, look at/tour a particular house, ask questions of the agent/make appointments, etc. Getting the word out about these Open Houses is no easy feat. There's a lot that's involved with making sure people show up to check the house out because, clearly, people aren't gonna show up if they don't know about it.

Long story short:
If you live in the San Antonio, TX area or if you know someone who does, and you or that someone you know is in the market for a house, my mom will be helping to host an Open House this coming Sunday. Here are the details:

Updated Under the Van Gogh. Felt good because I'd gotten a lot done there. Added a banner you guys can use to link back to the site as well as 11 stories. Most of the 11 are already in my gallery, but now they're in relatively proper chronological order. I will update my journal entry containing the Series List, since I had to do it amongst my own notes as it was way overdue.

(A note to anyone planning to start a series: Keep your series list as updated as possible. Don't be like me and wait until you've written ten, eleven stories to update it. >.> It's not an easy job to then go back and see where everything fits. Trust me.)

Also updated Blissful Madness. I added a whopping 54 icons--all of them Kaizers Orchestra themed--and two speed poems that were originally one poem written at four in the morning. The site also now has its own button that you can use to link back to the site. Just copy/paste the code in the box.

I am convinced I am now living in an alternate universe. Here's how I know:

- Gerard is now a parent.
- David Carradine is dead. What was believed to be a tragic suicide is apparently turning out to be a bizarre (but still tragic) murder.
- Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer are dating. (I know. That last one is still sinking in for me, too.)

Also, I can get all three seasons of Little Britain on the Zune Marketplace. No, not Little Britain USA. The original, really good Little Britain Anthony Stewart Head as the Prime Minister. If that's not a sign I'm now in an alternate universe, I don't know what is...

...well, I can think of one more thing, but that requires me to lurk around Barnes & Noble. >.>

So is it just me, or does this Friday seem like it's gone to the nerds? At least mine has.

- Amanda Palmer has basically started a new movement on Twitter. The Losers on Friday Night on Their Computers. Its hashtag (#LOFNTC) is currently at the top of the Trending Topics on Twitter--even above Star Trek! o.o You can read all the tweets from everybody here: [link]
- Got my hands on Dallas #6. My mind was definitely blown. The ending was satisfyingly bittersweet. I'm sorry to say that I am still not happy with Spaceboy--except with what he decides to do towards the end of the comic.

This is where I get a little dorky and possibly a little spoilery. I'll try to keep the spoiling to a minimum, but just in case...

Here's the thing. It's no secret that, as far as TUA characters go, Spaceboy is my least favorite of the bunch. His physical character design is genius stuff, but his personality is too flat for me. Take him away from his leadership role and it feels like there's nothing left in him that's interesting. He ceases to be useful for anything except as someone the Kraken can argue with when he needs to, or someone Seance could buy ice cream for or whatever. He becomes...furniture. A prop.

However, being a storyteller myself, I understand that Spaceboy has an important role to play in the story--otherwise, why would he exist as a main character? (Perhaps to irritate me, in which case he succeeds, but I'm just being catty.)

I was seriously hoping the Dallas arc would restore my initial liking of Spaceboy, that he would get off that rapidly growing ass of his and become epic enough to make me eat every complaint I've ever uttered about him. Sadly, my metaphorical plate is still full. I honestly just can't buy whatever Gerard's trying to sell me with this character--namely, his moping disillusionment and his pining for the Rumor. (But let's not get started on how much I dislike that plot device, of which the pseudo-incest is only a minor trouble.) The revelation in Dallas #6 is amazingly commendable on Rumor's part. However, while it's probably already spawning massive amounts of shipper fan fiction and fanart, I seriously don't think the connotation of her reasoning matches what the reader might/is going to perceive it to mean. And if it does seem to mean the way it initially reads, then I'm going to be severely disappointed.

I'm interested in opening some discussion on this, because I know other people like Spaceboy and probably think I'm crazy for having him at the bottom of my list But maybe in Series 3, he'll do what he didn't do for me in the Dallas arc. Call me an optimist.

I'M FREE! FREE AT LAST! _{(Even though I still have two essays to finish for the classes giving me incompletes so I can get the work in!)} Packing was insane and stressful, but nobody died. I consider that a success, even though it seems like fate enjoys watching me and my father butt heads and be irritable towards each other. >.>

*LastOnePicked made it safely to Canada. Yay! ^_^ Her phone doesn't work up there, though, so I will refrain from texting her so that her phone doesn't blow up upon reentry into the States. I'm currently giving my brain a break from writing about Dr. Thomas Neill Cream and American Psycho for class. Seriously. What the fuck was I thinking? >.<

This week is the final week of school. All of my exams are basically a walk in the park, except maybe math and Catholic Social Ethics, but as long as I study I think I'll be alright. I suppose it helps that my advisor has done her advising duty in saying, "Put aside the work for my class and really focus on the others." Granted, I'm six pages into the narrative due for her class and the critical problems we're supposed to solve are really not that hard, but she understands that I'm good for the work and that I can come back to it once everything else is taken care of. *sigh* This has been such a hard semester, the moral of which is don't get surgery in the middle of school unless you really need it.

I am blessed, however, to have really understanding teachers all around! This has saved me a great deal, though not a great deal of emotional and mental anguish. But I'm okay now. I'm better.

I have stories planned. I know I keep saying that, but I seriously have some stuff that's almost finished, and Sally is planning something wonderful that will soon be up on Under the Van Gogh, which is in sore need of some updates.

Tuesday is my birthday. I will be 22. FML for having a birthday during exam week, though I have no exams on that day myself. It's been bothering me of late, the notion that I should do something on the actual day, but I'm at a loss as to what. And since most people are going to be very busy studying or taking exams, I don't want to really burden anyone with trying to celebrate in a group. So I suppose it'll be me at Starbucks with a cupcake and a coffee, taking calls from family members and those friends who remember to post on my Facebook wall or on Twitter. XD The only thing I really want for my birthday is a good sewing machine. Or a printmaking press. But a sewing machine is cheaper. I checked.

Dollhouse ends its first season this week. Ohmygod. Last week's episode ("Briar Rose") was intense. The fight between Ballard and Boyd was tops, and proof that you just don't fuck with the Dollhouse's Head of Security. The amount of Victor in last week's episode totally made up for the minimal amount in "Haunted", even if...well...you have to watch the episode, but I was totally bummed out by what happens to him, even if he's not dead.

Okay, so...if you don't know, I am shamelessly addicted to Dollhouse. It's like...the greatest thing ever. Between it and The Umbrella Academy, I am happy. And you've totally, totally, totally got to watch Dollhouse, because it's awesome. Also? This amuses me:

My claddagh broke today. T_T It was the one *LastOnePicked gave me last year (or was it the year before? I've had it for a long time) and it bums me out a lot. The band had cracked at the bottom last week, and then today I was fiddling with it and the band fucking snapped off my finger. >.< It makes me really sad, and my poor finger feels naked, but depending how I feel on Sunday (assuming I'm not still recovering from Oyster Bake), I may go to the mall and get the ring soldered/reshaped. Currently it sits in a Ziploc bag inside my medic's bag.

- Clearly, I am still alive. March has been unkind to me. I'd rather not get into it, and it's getting better, but if you follow me on LiveJournal or Twitter, then I'm sure you already have some idea why.

- The wheelchair lift in the family van is basically dead. FML.

- I won 3rd place at last week's Undergraduate Research Symposium. My project? Following the Flight of "The Raven": An Examination of the Literary Critical Analysis. (Pictures to appear in my Scaps later, perhaps.) My friend ~labrattish took second in the awards for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (and also first in the Library Research Award, though I'm sure that's not what it's really called), and our friend Lorenzo took first. I should also mention that the three of us are in the same class. My professor is basically on Cloud Nine over this.

- Coincidentally, ~labrattish is probably one of the most epic people I know, along with *LastOnePicked. You should give her art a gander, because it's fucking sweet and helped make my display board and abstract cards look epic.

- The counselor thinks I should express my anger more often. "Nice people can be angry, too!"

- Lady Gaga mystifies me. I'm not sure what to make of her, and I'm not sure if that's good or bad. "Just Dance" and "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" make up for "Poker Face" both in terms of being good songs and good music videos (though I prefer the video for "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich").

- I've been writing, but I have nothing completed. This troubles me, makes me nervous. I did, however, write an epic win of a scene between Robert and one of his old friends that won't make sense yet because I never write in chronological order, which is why so much of the series is not yet complete. Sorry about that.

- WTF Kutner. Hooray for the epic career move, but weep-weep-weep for the epic character...uh... Clearly, I'm still troubled by this development, yet I am comforted by knowing I still have Wilson and Thirteen to adore.

- Also? I'm pretty convinced that House and Essex would totally just hate each other and spend the span of an episode attempting to one-up each other in trying to help a patient, much to the amazement and amusement of House's staff, Robert and Ean. I would love to see this happen someday, somehow.

- I learned recently that you can soft-boil an egg (or two) in a coffemaker. This is the greatest discovery I've made lately. I feel that much more self-sufficient.

Long story short, I have been busting my ass lately trying to prepare for the Undergraduate Research Symposium. I'll elaborate later on what my topic is and shit (provided I'm not dead from exhaustion) but I have a question and sort of a scavenger hunt?

Okay. Anyway. My research has pulled up that, somewhere on 84th and Amsterdam in NYC, there is a factory with a plaque marking the spot where Edgar Allan Poe wrote "The Raven". I would really love to know if this plaque or if some version of the plaque exists on/in whatever building might exist there, whether it's a factory or not.

I'm really sorry I don't have much more information than that; the book left out the name of the factory and had only come up as an author's note to clarify that the original farm property where Poe wrote the poem is no longer there. But! If you can find any evidence of anything honoring the poem within this area, I'll...I dunno. Immortalize you in literature. That's always cool, huh?

So I should be working on writing an abstract and a proposal for a paper, not to mention two newspaper articles, but I'll get them done in a second.

1. To summerize a blog I typed up on LJ last night: I am totally crying and dying on the inside that Amanda Palmer is going to be in Austin playing SXSW for two nights this weekend and I don't have tickets to see her. Trust me, I am totally throwing a tantrum inside. To rub salt in the wound, it is most likely that I will be in Austin on Friday for school business. So. Yes. Crying and dying and emo inside.

The kicker is that, if she was just playing a regular concert, I might've been able to swing not only seeing her but hanging out backstage, because they totally hook up people who bring them food. But I believe with SXSW, you have to pay an additional "convention fee" thing to get in or something. So that makes it the...third time I have to miss out on something Dolls/Amanda related? Something like that.

I suppose the Edgar Allan Poe thing will balance it out. Minimally. I'll drown my sorrows in seeing Watchmen at an IMAX theatre over the weekend.

2. Lot of new entries available for reading over at the Progress Blog, including an exclusive snippet.

3. I've made really good progress in both my cold and my eye. Today's the first day where my vision has been very close to normal and ~~I can actually breathe through my nose~~!

Scratch that. My left nostril just plugged up. Bugger. >.< Or is it more like booger? I was going to take a picture of myself today, as it is officially two weeks since surgery, but the bathroom doesn't really have very good lighting for celebratory pictures.

Does anyone know a decent site--other than Tab Nabber--that offers a pretty decent selection of piano tabs/sheet music? I'm talking stuff like Regina Spektor, the Dresden Dolls... Stuff like that. I'm getting to that point in recovery where I can see well enough to begin practicing the assigned basics for my piano class again, but I also wanted to see if I could start teaching myself some songs as well.

Any suggestions will definitely be looked into and much appreciated.

Also? Mama I'm Swollen by Cursive? Totally recommend it. "From the Hips" is an instant favorite.

Well. Clearly, I am not dead yet.

Pardon any potential typos; I still have sutures on my right eye so my vision wavers between blurry and slightly less blurry.

Tuesday was fucking insane. Getting up early, getting to the hospital. Getting changed into a gown (they still make you take everything off before you put it on, including your cute fuzzy socks). Waiting. Getting called back--alone--to the pre-op area. Sitting on a gurney. Going over the final questions. Making last-minute decisions...

In all honesty, vein-hunting for an IV was the only time I really lost the odd calm that had come over me. I seriously expected to be nervous and scared the whole time, but I wasn't. I think TUA 4 helped. But vein-hunting sucked. It took them four tries before they found one that worked; I'm still bruised in one area and sore in all the rest. Once they got it in though, they "flushed" (that is, gave me a sudden, heavy dose) of some medicine through my IV.

Me: "I feel it a little in my hand..."
Nurse: "You're gonna feel it in your head in about 45 seconds."

The next thing I can clearly remember is being looped out on medication and calling for Essex. No shit. I'm pretty sure I felt him in the room. Then again, I was pretty loopy...and asked a black nurse if she was black at one point. >.> This is why I will never do drugs. I don't do "high" well.

Spent some time recovering in a room before they sent me home. The male nurse (he called himself a tech, but I guess it's because he was in military fatigues and not scrubs) asked how I was feeliing.

Me: "Do you want a ladylike answer or the honest one?"
Tech: "The honest answer."
Me: "I feel like shit."
Tech: "Do you feel like shit because you want to go home or because of your eye?"
Me: "I just want to go home."

So I've been home since Tuesday afternoon, and now here I am, blogging away about it. Yesterday was a little difficult; the Percocet they prescribed me for the pain was making me feel nauseous. I couldn't keep food down. >.< So I just said "fuck you" to the Percocet and switched over to IB Proufen. It works for me and lets me eat, which is a good thing.

I want to write. So. Bad. You have no idea. It's killing me that I'm not working on a story or something. XD But we'll see how that goes. I can see well enough to type and read text messages again, so I think I might break out the notebook and work.

Edit: So...in the midst of my boredom, I have come up with an idea that I've passed on to Sally and now pass on to you.

Synchronize your watches.

So. I didn't go to school today. I think, somehow, that my mom basically knew I wasn't going because why else would she have awakened me at 8:30 if we have to leave the house at 9:30 to get to StMU well before my 10:20 class? I am not altogether a morning person. I love breakfast and coffee, but I require extra time in the morning to be ready--at the most, an hour and a half.

But anyway. I didn't go to school. I woke up feeling numb and needing to pee, rolled on my knee-high socks, rolled them down again, took them off, got out of bed, informed my parents I was staying home, went to the bathroom, peed, got back into bed, and slept until about 12:30 in the afternoon. (I meant to be up by 10:30, but I forgot to change the setting from "PM" to "AM" on my phone's alarm feature.) I ate but I didn't feel altogether hungry. I would've preferred an egg sandwich to chicken and mashed potatoes and salad, but I didn't altogether feel I had the voice to ask. Maybe I will later.

("Altogether" is a great word, by the way. Adverb wholly; entirely; completely; quite: altogether fitting.)

With the exception of straightening my hair, using the bathroom, and eating, I've basically spent all day in my room. I talked to Sally, traded text messages with Amanda, talked to Davilin, looked at cute puppy and kitten pictures on I Can Has Cheezburger and I Has A Hotdog, and I'm working on The Drifters. I'm kind of happy to be getting out of Edward Fuciante's section. He needs more depth of personality because right now he just kind of comes off as an angry motherfucker (which he is), but for a first draft (and for a character who doesn't have very much face time in the story) it's good enough.

I still feel sort of numb about tomorrow. It's like... The process of surgery is just so much easier to go through as a kid. As a kid, it was basically a matter of "you NEED this surgery and here's why", and the reasons they gave were all sound and obliterated the question of why. Everything--the agenda of where to go, who to see, what to do--was planned for me and routine. I didn't really have to do anything other than show up and be scared shitless, probably because I didn't really think past the procedure.

Now that I'm older, it's become a matter of "I WANT this surgery", but the reasoning I come up with doesn't satisfy the question of why. There are too many right answers. And on top of that, I think past the given moment. I worry about how this will affect my schooling this semester. I wonder how I'll look and if anybody will notice the difference. I'm not doing this for anybody other than myself, but at the same time, this procedure scares me because it will be the most obvious of them all. Evidence of all of my other procedures--my tonsils, my calf biopsy, my scoliosis correction--are easy to hide because they're internal or well hidden under layers of clothes.

Went to the hospital today to meet with the anesthesiologist. We took the long way down to the clinic, which is just one part of what they call the "Same Day Surgery" clinic, and I had to resist crying and/or cracking up. We got there well before my appointment time, but just as I was about to check in, my dad realized that he forgot the folder.

People who've had or who know people who've had surgery, you kind of have an idea what I'm talking about; for those that don't know, when you begin the process of surgery, there is a file folder that the doctor gives you in which all of your important paperwork goes. Most of it is just instructions on what to do and what not to do, but there is also paperwork that you're supposed to take to all of the other clinics involved with the surgery. Essentially, it's a very important folder. And my dad had forgotten it. And we live maybe 45 minutes away from base.

So while my mom and I sat in the waiting room, I zoned out the best I could with a Seattle's Best "Javakula" and the extended soundtrack to Repo! The Genetic Opera. (My verdict: If you really love the movie, get this version of the CD. The added music is pretty fantastic; I'll be making some new ring tones for my phone for sure.) I understand the potential irony in listening to the soundtrack of a musical where excessive surgery is a main theme, but when paired with the soundtrack to Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog...

Oh, man. How I love me some Dr. Horrible. You have no idea.

So my dad came back with the folder, and from then on, everything that happened in the clinic is pretty much a blur. I know I rambled a lot. Other things that I remember:

- "People come from all over the world to see Dr. Holck, and Dr. Mihora won a fellowship with him that I heard was very competitive." Dr. Holck is the guy who's going to operate on me; Dr. Mihora is his surgical assistant. (She has amazing eyes, the color of which reminded me of halved avocados--dark green rimming yellow-green/yellow--when I first met her.) This was told to me by the really nice registered nurse in charge of having me fill out paperwork.

- "You know you have to come in for a pregnancy test." The same nurse. I can'tt help finding this very laughable, as the only thing that's been inside me is a Playtex tampon two months ago.

- "Currently I am disturbed yet amused by the fact that the woman is masturbating in the painting 'Venus of Urbino'." Thank you, Sally. XD

Oh yeah, and then the power went out a bunch of times tonight. What the fuck?

Anyway. Time now for sleep.

CDs

Bought Morrissey's new Years of Refusal and Thursday's new Common Existence. I would've also bought the extended soundtrack to Repo! The Genetic Opera but...well...once again, there's a setback. Personally, I'm not surprised; naturally, most of the "Repo Army" is ready to storm Lionsgate Films. >.> You can read all the madness here: [link]

Years of Refusal makes me wish the tickets to his show in Austin weren't so expensive. (The cheapest seats were $75 USD; it's a concert hall, so I'm not surprised.) I absolutely love the new CD. It's more "rockish" than Ringleader of the Tormentors but the lyrics are still classic Morrissey. "That's How People Grow Up" amuses me terribly, as does "One Day Goodbye will be Farewell", and the sound of "When I Last Spoke to Carol" makes me want to write a story with dance in it. Also? "It's Not Your Birthday Anymore" is fucking creepy, but I love this line: "All of the gifts that they gave can't compare in any way to the love I am giving you right here right now on the floor."

I also really like the look of the CD itself--how it looks like a vinyl record. I'd love to know why Morrissey is holding a baby, and I sort of wish this picture was in the CD insert. It continues to amuse me. XD

As of writing this, I still haven't listened to Common Existence. >.> But I will soon! I actually need to add some Thursday songs to my current playlist. This brings me to...

The Drifters

I've resumed work on it last week. Sally and I have big plans for it, but I think I'll keep mum on what those plans are for now. My goal is to have the first draft finished by the end of the semester; to this end I'm striving to write at least ten pages a day, and at least twenty on the weekends. So far, neither goal has been met, but I'm still striving and Spring Break is in three weeks.

As a result, though, it may mean something of a hiatus for the main plot(s) going on in Under the Van Gogh. Certainly there will be things worked on (because...well...look at this list, and consider that there are lots of things not here that should be) but I think for the time being, my focus is going towards finishing The Drifters and then going from there.

Updates will be coming soon to the site, though, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Two Weeks...

In exactly two weeks, on March 3rd, I will be going in for surgery. To be completely honest, it's beginning to scare me shitless.

Christian Bale: LEAVE CHRISTIAN BALE ALONE! Seriously. Ever since Ray Toro posted about it on the MCR blogs, I've wondered what the big deal is. People flip out. Nobody got hurt. It happens, and from what I've read on Ain't It Cool News, the Director of Photography kind of had it coming. So yeah. People should just relax and instead watch this: [link]

BTW, Ray; thanks for picking such a lovely picture of Christian Bale to accompany your post. I will have good dreams tonight, I'm sure.

Amanda Palmer: I find it amusing, the coincidence in her posting a blog entry the same day that I post an entry on the Progress Blog about her. (No, she didn't mention the Progress Blog, though it would've been awesome.) But this one's rather important. It seems like she's having a bit of a censorship problem in Europe regarding her single "Oasis"--which, if you've heard the song or seen the video, requires a considerable appreciation of black humor to understand.

I creatively owe quite a bit to this woman, but you can read about that on the Progress Blog.

Unwarranted censorship blows. People misconstruing Amanda and suggesting that she's "making light" of rape and abortion seriously blows. I highly encourage you to read her entry, because Amanda basically lays it out a lot better than I ever could. And then after that, you can check out another blogger's take on the situation.

It was not Voltaire, but Evelyn Beatrice Hall who said, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." And I feel that this is appropriate when I say that I can understand why some people feel the need to write the sorts of letters that spark blogs as impassioned as =LieutenantDeath's. However, while I understand the sentiment, I'm also pretty much convinced that they are sorely misguided in their accusations. What can I say? I gotta call it like I see it.

Anyway. Moving on.

I missed the deadline for last week's prompt, so the story I hinted to a couple days ago will be a little while--largely because it's an Amherst story and partially because I've been caught up in a discussion on the history of refrigerators in London during 1951. 6. I actually do own a pocket watch. Unfortunately, it was not given to me by a British medic on my 20th birthday.
7. I fucking can't stand the nickname Speedy, Speeder, or any variation of the two. Seriously. People think it's clever because of my last name, because of my wheelchair (and I guess because I'm short?). Trust me; it's not fucking clever.
8. I have the Blu-Ray version of Repo! The Genetic Opera...but no personal Blu-Ray player. Good thing my roommate owns a PS3, right? (I have the regular version of the DVD, too. )

I'm near the bottom. SaturnAngel587. The story I entered was the one I just posted recently, "A Confession from the Flipside of Reason". It'll be up on Under the Van Gogh as soon as I can decide whether it's a B-Side or canon. A lot of the recent discussions Sally and I have had suggest it'll be canon--and as such, won't be up on the site for quite some time, because then the question becomes, "Well, what Act does it fall under?"

The TL;DR of this is basically: Cris needs to look at/tweak her notes.

Had an MRI on Friday. I'm still sore and stiff in my neck/back area from lying on my back for 20 minutes. For the most part, actually being in the tunnel wasn't all that bad. It was actually almost kind of...boring and yet musical at the same time. The worst part was actually having to get a shot before the second scan. If you've read Sally's musings on Future, please know she's not kidding when she mentions I'm pain-phobic. The conversation with the orderly/technician/nurse guy went like this:

"Now...you do know I have to give you a shot for the second half."
"What?!"
"To give the contrasting agent--"
"Oh, sweet Jesus..."
"Are you okay?"
"I hate needles."
"It's the smallest, thinnest butterfly needle."
"Yeah, but--but it's a needle."
"Well..."
"You can't do something to numb the area first?"
"I'll see what I can do, but I promise, it's very small and thin."
"You don't have anything I can take orally?"

Finally, I just said, "Well, if you have to do it, then you have to do it. But I'm going to need a hand to hold."

I should have told him that, though I don't look it, I have a rather powerful grip--though that may be why I went from holding two of his fingers to only one plus a stress ball in the hand of the arm getting the shot. >.>

Tomorrow is "hanging out with friends" day. After seeing the amazing photographs produced by Sally's Diana+ camera (see: ~heyscarfgirl), I decided that I must have one. So ~spotted-elephant and I are going to hit up the local Urban Outfitters and see what they've got. And then there will be dinner at Jim's with friends I haven't heard from in some time. It's going to be awesome.

And you will not get lost. I'm sure of it.

On the phone with a friend I'll be seeing tomorrow, he says this about his future career goal: "I want to clone people and make crazy animals when I grow up."

If anyone could do it, it'll be him.

Also? I don't know who else follows MCR's blogs, but oh my God. Gerard. You are such a nerd! Not just Star Wars, D&D, and WoW, but Warhammer 40k, too? How much more of a nerd could you be?

I also figured out how to make registering/leaving comments available, though I don't think you need to register to leave comments. Either way, as someone who craves open dialogue, this made me quite pleased. And considering I've been dealing with a case of the "not-so-awesomes" today, I'll take what I can get.

Anyway. Back to writing and plotting.

And why do I have some of the song titles highlighted and not others? They're songs I find are significantly important in relation to the story. Whether that translates clearly in the final draft or not...we'll see. But they're definitely good hints of the plot.

To make a long story short, since I have class in 25 minutes, my computer is currently sitting in the tech department on campus while it waits to be fixed. Stupid viruses...

I'm not sure when I'm getting my computer back, but at least all my stuff is backed up and safe. And I'll give me time to actually focus on writing stuff--including an attempt to work on this week's prompt at Brigit's Flame, provided I'm moving on. This week's theme is Demon, so I'm really hoping I'll get to put an idea for a story about Future to good use.

Until then, I highly recommend checking out some of 's newest pieces. (You can see one of them in the Featured Deviation up there.) They're all pretty sweet.

The roof of my mouth still hurts from burning it. Boo. >.<

8 days until Repo! The Genetic Opera is released on DVD. Testify! _{Even if it was linked onto Filmhill...} I totally pre-ordered the regular and Bluray. Yes, I love the movie that much--and Nancy has a PS3 to play the Bluray on.

Technology has been flipping out all over the place lately. Last night my computer woke itself up out of hibernation--twice, one of those times while the lid was down--and then all of the 30GB (First Generation) Zunes went crazy.

Scores of other sites are talking about it and people on the Zune support forums are either freaking out or telling the freak-outers to STFU.

There is a way to fix it that involves removing the battery for a few minutes, and it works if you do it carefully. If you own a 30GB Zune and you're ~~desperate~~ impatient enough to get the Zune working again (like me) just follow this: [link] You shouldn't lose any of your data (I didn't) and it'll work like the glitch never happened.

TUA: Dallas Issue 2

So, while not as WTF-ish as the opening issue, Issue 2 still has its moments. For example:

- The two baddies of the issue. It's strange enough for one guy to run around seeking to cause trouble while wearing a head that looks like it belongs to a cutesy theme park creature costume, but this issue comes with two. And one of them seems to really like Girl Scout cookies.
- Number 5. Not quite as WTF as the "I am a gazelle." scene of Issue 1, but...it's...

No, no. Looking at this scene again, I take it back. It's more subtle, but this scene was definitely more "WTF?" than the massacre scene in Issue 1.
- The Kraken. Nothing particularly "WTF?" here. I just love how we see lots of him this issue. "...and I'd bet my good eye he's a commie."
- The Seance. Noooooooo! Although, towards the end of the issue, he reminds me a tiny bit of Viticus. >.>

I find myself growing more dissastified with Spaceboy. During Apocalypse Suite he was alright, though not my favorite. Now he just sort of annoys me. Maybe it's just because I'm attached to the Kraken? I dunno. If he does something epic later in this series I'll be willing to change my viewpoint, but for now... Annoying!Spaceboy is annoying. >.>

I had a weird day today. Started out fine, sank into a mood where everything--even "Bravi!"--upset me. I did some heavy crying when I got home from shopping for Christmas gifting.

And then I found a package from ~LastOnePicked waiting for me--a HUGE package, I should say, full of many AMAZING things.

Package + Sushi + Starbucks Espresso Truffles = Happier Cris.

Vermillion Lies is awesome-quirky-cabaret love.

Also? Belanova is quirky-Spanish-disco-pop love. I finally bought Fantasia Pop and it's just the right amount of bubble-gum sweet. It's the kind of stuff that (after you see more of him, will make more sense but now it must be said that) Jamie LeBeau would totally listen to.

It would also probably bewilder the fuck out of Viticus. "The fuck? I know I didn't leave this in my stereo last time I was using it!" Poor little not-very-good-at-Spanish-speaking, half-Puerto Rican punk...

Q&A: Get those questions in!

~LastOnePicked and I are planning to do a Q&A sort of podcast, but what's a Q&A without questions? There's still a bit of time left to e-mail them to either BlissfuMadness@gmail.com or bathroomxsurgery@yahoo.com. Put something like "Podcast Question" in the subject line so we don't think it's spam.

"Miscellaneous Information"...

I've had some strange things happen to me in the last couple of days. Nothing I can really go into, but it's making me think a lot about chance and fate and how life really can be stranger than fiction sometimes. But that's okay. I'm handling it.

I am so amused by this picture. Not only do they look ridiculously adorable, but you know it's genuine when you start color-coordinating your clothes. That's the kind of love I want. Adorable with a side of color-coordination.

According to DA, I haven't finished any thing fictional since October. It bothers me with how true it is. BUT! Sally and I are hard at work on a Christmas present for you guys, and I think you'll like it a great deal. I know I'm having fun working on it.

I want to begin taking piano lessons. I've been feeling it more and more lately, to the point that I had a dream last night that I was learning from the lady who lives next door. Strange stuff... I think I'll dig out my keyboard later today. I just don't know if I still have the adapter or a pack of the batteries it needs.

Recently discovered Skype. Skype is basically the greatest alternative to a phone conversation--and as a person not supremely huge on phone conversations, that's saying something.

Sally (~LastOnePicked) and I were discussing (among other wonderful top secret things) that perhaps it's time to harness the power of Skype and do a joint Q&A, the nifty part of this being that we could record ourselves answering the questions as kind of a mini-podcast sort of thing instead of just text.

I haven't finished a story in a long time and that bothers me. ~LastOnePicked and I have been collaborating and conspiring, but right now I'm about as swamped as Saint Essex during and after the recent crisis in India. >.>

I do have several recent ideas that are going to take precedent to all the early stuff I need to finish--namely, the yearly New Year's Eve related story. I think that's probably the only one that will get done. Last year's is still unfinished, but I'll be damned if I don't finish this one. It's...different, to say the least. I like the way it's turning out.

Also? I've re-rediscovered my uStream.TV account, and I'm tempted to do a live webcast this weekend or next week once I get a FireWire cable to hook my camera up to my computer. (I start winter break on Friday. Yay!) Perhaps I'm just feeling a little attention-whorish lately, but methinks I'll hold a Q&A of sorts? I dunno. I just feel like, if I'm going to make a dork of myself on camera, it should have a purpose. Let me know what you think.

It was touch-and-go there for a little while, but I made it for a third year in a row. I am celebrating with a wine spritzer (that's half wine, half Sprite, with really more Sprite than wine) but for you guys, I offer an alcohol-free teaser:

The second floor is much colder than the first, and also much darker, despite sunlight streaming in through some of the broken windows. The smell of sulfur is stronger up here, mixing with the stench of decay, but so far, there appears to be no trace of any activity in sight.

But there are sounds. Horrible, scratching, screeching sounds. Emily grins, encouraged rather than afraid, running down the hall towards inevitable danger rather than away. As she nears the end of the hall, three seem to burst from one of the classrooms. They study her with their black eyes, their young faces bloody and bodies poised for attack. They can smell her flesh; they know she is not one of them, that she is potential food. The leader lets out an ear-splitting screech that seems to fill the school.

ÂJackpot!Â Emily cries.

The leader leaps and Emily swings, catching him in the jaw with a sickening sound, something akin to wood popping in fire. The creature goes crashing into the wall, sprawling, screeching even with a ruined mouth. The other two charge simultaneously and Emily ducks backward into an open classroom, slamming the door into the face of one as it turnsÂ

SLAM!

Âto give her time to pull out the six-shooter, cock back the hammer andÂ

BANG!

ÂOne downÂÂ

The second zombie charges for the door.

SLAM!

She cocks the gun again; opens the doorÂ

BANG!

ÂThatÂs twoÂÂ

The sound of collective heavy breathing and the powerful, more concentrated stench of sulfur make her turn around. There are three here, and all of them look very hungry. Emily grins. She cocks back the hammer of the six-shooter again.

ÂIÂve got five more pretty bullets in this gun! Who wants to step up and be next?!Â

The door slams open and a heavy weight crashes into her back. Cold, foul smelling liquid splashes onto her neck and down her shirt. The zombie with the broken jaw, no doubt. Distracted by the other two flanking him, Emily forgot shoot him, too.

Well, it could be worse, she thinks to herself. This hasnÂt turned into be a big zombie cluster fuck!

As if on cue, the three coil back and leap forward.

Arthur rushes forward, stalling when he gets a better view of what the priest sees. Pale and lifeless, Emily lies sprawled out on the wooden floor with a bloody nose. In her hand, she holds a few loose beads and the Star of David medallion; the caduceus pendant rests on the wood near her palm. The blue chalk is gone, but the design remains, carved into the floor as if with a sharp knife. Arthur kneels down to check on the emissary. Father Giacomo looks frightened.

ÂSheÂs aliveÂ Her pulse is the normal rate.Â Frowning, Arthur nudges her. ÂEmily? Emily, come on kid. Wake upÂÂ

So...with NaNoWriMo officially in session, it can be safely expected that I won't be working on any short stories until December. >.> (Wow. Year's almost over already? Not even two wine spritzers and a slice of chocolate cake could make Max Payne a movie I'd go see twice in theaters. That's not to say it was the worst thing I'd seen; it's probably worth seeing if you've played the video games (I haven't). But honestly, the only really cool things were the winged creatures, the one plot twist I honestly didn't expect (but probably should have and Mila Kunis telling Mark Whalberg to "kneel the fuck down".

Anyway. More positive news? I got my Halloween costume! I'm going to be Little Red Riding Hood. With a handsaw. Unfortunately it wasn't the costume version from Torrid that I wanted, but it'll work. I still think I should have an axe instead of a saw, but since I'm a fan of *Endling's EverAfter incarnation of Little Red... Now all I need is a wolf.

I'm writing for The Rattler again this semester and I'm actually planning to go for the editor-in-chief job that'll be open next semester. >.> They'll probably choose someone more qualified _{(read: someone with actual experience as an editor)} but this is basically my last chance to shoot for that, since I aim to graduate December '09. And I think I have a lot to bring to the table...

Classes, The Ratller, the Society of Poets & Writers, fangirling over Repo! The Genetic Opera... I haven't gotten a lot of writing done. >.> I've been fitting in writing when I can, but so far I have yet to really finish anything lately. You have no idea how much that kills me. It's one thing to have articles done for the school paper; mostly that's just to "pay the rent", as I've come to term it (though I don't really pay rent).

There are so many good stories I have half-finished or that just need editing, but when I go to work on them I just feel...bleh. I have no energy to put up with them. That bothers me a lot.

I totally went to go see Rent last night, realized I'd bought the wrong ticket, had to suffer the "you must be stupid" sort of look from the guy behind the counter when I tried to sort out all the business, and ended up seeing Ghost Town instead. (Irony much?) The movie's really cute. Go see it.

It has been an even stranger couple of weeks.

Still apparently painting in my sleep. Cecile says she even hears me singing now; says itÂs neither English or French. I donÂt know any other languages.

(I think something happened between her and her supposed boyfriend. She doesnÂt go out as much, except to the job I helped her get as a waitress at this coffee shop near the hospital, and she seems really bummed out lately.)

The day after I wrote my last blog I saw someone die.

If, by now, you still don't get it, I'll tell you:

MIDNIGHT SHOWING OF REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA.

And it was good. Very, very, very good. I met a lot of great people--including the director Darren Bousman (Saw 2-4) and Terrance Zdunich (who plays the Graverobber and who co-created the original stage play). There was even a moment during the after party where Darren had Anthony Stewart Head on speakerphone. I about died of joy.

Seriously, make sure people know about this movie. At the moment, only a few cities are going to get to see this when it gets released in November, but this is definitely a movie that deserves a wide national release. Just hearing Darren and Terrance talk about it and see how invested they are with this project last night (and seeing how much they are about the fans, who numbered in the "a lot") was proof enough to me that this needs to get seen.

I will have pictures soon, when my friend Ruth gets them to me. And we took a fair amount of video of Darren and Terrance talking before and after the film, so I'll let you know when that all gets uploaded.

In the meantime, go enjoy the awesomeness. And don't be put off by Paris Hilton being in it! She's actually pretty good in her role. And if you need further incentive to go at least check this out: It's different. Seriously. It's not a remake of anything; it's an adaptation of a play but not really. (I believe it was Terrance, in answering my question last night, who said that since it was a play that wasn't as big as say...Rent, that they had more flexibility to change what they felt they needed to in order to make the movie work.)

For heaven's sake, it's got Sarah Brightman, Anthony Stewart Head and Paul Sorvino in it. If any of those names ring a bell, go check it out.

Rule of thumb when playing Soul Calibur IV: Button mashers suck. Please remember that if you're playing the PS3 version's online mode and you're up against someone named "tsuki1304". >.> On the positive side of SC4? I totally made a Wyatt-ish and an Annabelle-ish character--complete with blue-tinted skin. I'm so hopeless. Thoughts on what sort of weapon Viticus would wield? I was thinking Talim's weapons, since he's so small and fast and usually enjoys using a knife in a fight anyway...

I can't write at the moment. It pains me in a way I can't even explain.

Also? I'm amazed by how vulnerable I feel in art class. I overthink it too much and I get nervous when I think that I'm painting something that supposed to like a fruit rather than just painting. Maybe it's because I'm a writer by nature (albeit one who is currently idea-frozen) but I just get this terrible inner anxiety when I start to paint. The inner critic comes out in a way that it normally doesn't when I'm writing and it becomes difficult to tell it to shut up. Then along comes my inner perfectionist and before I know it I'm frustrated with the fact that for all my ability to visualize things, I can't translate it to the canvas. Meanwhile, everyone else around me seems to have a better handle on what they're doing and they all look better than mine...

I'm gonna work on that. Tomorrow I'm going to head out to Michael's and I'm going to buy both the paints I still need to get for class and a pad of canvas paper. Then I'm just going to sit outside and do painting studies. Or something. Maybe I'll start by doing random sketches, getting used to drawing with the charcoal stick I bought...

I trimmed my hair, cut my bangs shorter and am trying to spend a few weeks with curls rather than flat-ironing the whole thing. The consensus is that it's really rather cute.
