So it's been a while since I've posted anything here, and from the looks of it, it might be another while still. Photos that I've been taking lately haven't been up to my "deviantart standard", or have been just snapshot type things. So those things end up on my personal site [link]

I did however just get a new Hoya R72 infrared filter, and a B+W 0.3 ND filter which I've started playing with. If I get anything interesting, I'll be sure to post it.

I've also picked up some supplies for a series of still lifes that I've been pondering, but I haven't gotten around to doing yet. Part of the problem is lack of proper lighting. I've now got a pair of studio lights, but one just completely overpowers the other. I've got a third light, but I need to get a new bulb for it. Maybe in a week or two I'll get some time to pull that stuff out again and play with it.

It's taken me a while to get through all of my Florida photos (I usually shoot in RAW mode now, so it takes some extra post-processing effort), and have uploaded the last of them. Now I can back to that rediculous list of critiques that keeps on growing. Doing some of the critiques, especially for art types that I'm not that familiar with (like peotry), or for stuff that I don't like, is really tough and not very enjoyable. However I am learning a lot by doing these, and there is some magnificent stuff in there. I highly recommend that anyone who is looking to improve their technique, sit down and carefully critique others, especially those with a similar style.

Boy did I open a can of worms.
I figured I'd do a little critiquing of other people's work, so I went to the thumbshare forum and asked who'd be interested. Turns out there was quite a few: [link]
So many in fact that I can't seem to make any progress on the list no matter how hard I try. By the time I'm done with a critique, another person has added a link. As of this time, I'm guessing there's about 150 deviations on that list. And since I'm actually critiquing here (not just posting one line comments like "good job", which I despise), it takes me about 10-15 minutes to write a post. For 150 deviations, that comes to about 24-38 hours straight.
I'm having fun doing it though, and it's incredibly enlightening, so I'll eventually get through them all.
But I get to take a little break here. I'm heading down to Florida for a week starting tomorrow to get certified as a Haganah instructor ([link]).
